Red Castle 1899

I like the taiwanese cuisine that the Red Castle provides. The services is good and we enjoy dinning in a historical old building.

My third time here, never ever disappointed. Many dished are chef’s recommendations. I love the most is fried chicken with sweet sauce. The meat is really tender. The walkways to the restaurant can be accessed in 2-3 ways by the downhills and uphills, but need to make sure for the elderly and kids especially in rainy days.

We had the beef with basil and the sweet and sour chicken between 3 people and 1 toddler. It was great quality food. The space is well set up for families. The beer glasses came chilled from the fridge.

Had the opportunity to have lunch at this place during my recent visit to Salalah. I knew that it would not be an authentic Chinese restaurant and frankly that is why I wanted to go!! Mostly these restaurants serve Chinese which has been modified to suit the local taste. However, the food was just average. We tried a couple of chicken gravy dishes, fried rice and noodles. Would visit again and try some other dishes as well. lousy service kind of slow tho

What an amazing find. Excellent cafe on the top floor with coffee, Western style entrees and other drinks. Take a walk down a small alley, up lantern lit steps to the beautiful Red Castle and get a seat overlooking the river and old market district below.

Cool historical rich person’s mansion located on top of the hill. Nice brick early century deco building with a roof top cafe on the third floor and tea house restaurant on the 1st and 2nd floors. Good and drinks and food. Really nice views of the river and town side.

Food overall delicious . Expecially fish soup . Sooo good . Love the view . Building nice .

Excellent Chinese food you can't miss! A must when visiting Tamsui.
