This is a wonderful museum—my husband and I absolutely loved it. If you're arriving by ferry or have time before your departure, it's well worth a visit. Having spent the first years of my life in the former Yugoslavia, walking through the exhibits felt like stepping back in time: the same kind of kitchen my grandmother had, the same old scale, and many other familiar details. It was both nostalgic and deeply moving.

The Red History Museum in Dubrovnik is such a cool, intimate, and immersive experience. It's a hidden gem that takes you through the city’s history with a modern, interactive twist. The exhibits are thoughtfully curated, offering a unique glimpse into both Dubrovnik’s past and the broader historical context of the region. The museum is small but packed with rich details, and the way they engage you with hands-on displays makes the visit feel personal. Highly recommend!

Fascinating insight into recent history of Croatia and the former Yugoslavia. One if the most hands on museums I've been to. So much to see, touch, smell, hear and learn.

A really interesting and interactive museum. Must-see for anyone interested in history/politics. Lots of info but also many exhibits to watch and touch. p.s. this museum is more about the formation and breakup Yugoslavia itself, and how people lived in the era. For Croatia and Dubrovnik more specifically post-1991, go to Fort Imperial for that. Definitely reccomend :)

Quirky, informative and immersive museum about communism in Croatia. Well laid-out and good combination of quantative and personal exhibitions. Very much enjoyed getting to eat a sweet and how retro the toilet was too!

Such a fascinating museum! I loved the blend of political and cultural history with popular culture. The two contrasting videos of a communist prison camp director and prisoner was especially impactful. Don’t miss the audio recordings of popular music!

A must see in Dubrovnik❤️ Curious about Yugoslav history and everyday life? Want to know how and why communism in Yugoslavia differed from other communist regimes? Ever wondered why the Yugoslav passport was once the most sought-after on the black market? Or what daily life was really like back then? This interactive, nostalgic museum doesn’t shy away from showing the darker side of the era. I even got my hands on a Paket Aranžman record I’d been hunting for a while! :) Pozdrav iz Srbije❤️

Very interesting museum and a "must visit" to understand the history of former Yugoslavia. It's interactive, some objects can be touched and opened (you can even sit in an old Yugo car). Staff is friendly and some unique souvenirs can be bought. Definitely a recommendation for anybody who is interested in history!
