There are thrills on this jeep tour but probably not the kind you may have experienced on other jeep tours. The thrills you will experience here include some terrific views, learning how and why the earth and rocks were formed and look the way they do, and visiting sites where native people once lived.
You are going to do a little hiking and hill/rock climbing and you will probably get a little hot and sweaty but you are in the desert so buck up, buttercup. Wear a hat and probably sunscreen, seriously. The jeeps are stocked with a cooler of water bottles and breakfast bars. Music plays throughout the tour and is designed to sync with where you are or what you are viewing.
The tour is a full three hours plus and I would say that, although kids are welcome, the length would probably seriously test their patience. If you have children, you be the judge.
You will probably see some interesting birds and lizards and you will definitely see some plants that just may be completely edible. Following our guide's lead, we sampled a number of different wild plants that you would probably never think to try and it's a fascinating experience. Our guide was Jennie and she knows this area inside and out.
It is not a cheap tour, and remember, it is not a "thrills" tour where your vehicle scales vertical rocks, but, if you are interested in history, geology, and generally, life in the desert, this will be right up your alley.
Make sure you tip your guide. They are out there working hard for you.
