Had a really good time at the pub quiz. Josh was a fun host, and the place was busy with lots of teams with great names. Good audience of all ages

Always have a couple of guest ales which I like personally. Friendly staff, great outdoor “all weather” area. Chilled atmosphere. They don’t do food but are happy for you to bring any takeaway to eat in their outdoor area.

Popped in for a few drinks and to listen to the live band. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and decent prices. Definitely worth a visit if you like your music.

Visited for the first time last Sunday for their 'Blues at the Red' event - live blues music every Sunday night. What a fabulous night! Such a good atmosphere, with great music. The band that night was Blues Boy Kings. Will definitely visit the pub again - super friendly and helpful staff. Garden area at the back looked good too. The whole place had the feel of a 'proper' pub - nothing pretentious! Drinks were reasonably priced.

Absolutely amazing and friendly team. Clean quality tasting beers, great atmosphere and good music. Plus a pool table. Great beer garden, with eternal heating under the wooden sheltered area.

Been some time since I visited and honestly I was reminded of why I love this pub, awesome atmosphere, huge choice and banging music. Can’t wait to attend their numerous events.

The Red Lion Stevenage is in The Old Town. It is an old building with lots of character and it is quite unexpected to find it is a Rock Pub and rather alternate. Good beer and live music, of the heavy rock caliber, it can be very packed when a band is playing. (It isn't very big). Don't expect to be able to fight your way though to the loo easily through the dancing crowds. Only been there in the evening but found a bar stool. Expect to stand though as it is very popular. Addendum: I have no idea why I put good beer as it is pretty rough and I have always felt ill afterwards ...maybe it has just gone downhill since I first went.

Brilliant pub fab atmosphere ... Love the live bands and the staff are soooo friendly would recommend to anyone :-) The beer garden is always full of friendly ppl fab place to meet new friends

Ok its a bit of a rockers pub , do not expect a nice quiet pint or a seat . What really drops the stars is a lack of good beer .

Popular place to have the feel of Hitchin in Stevenage. Reasonable price for drinks, and the staff and regualrs are friendly. The band night is awesome, and will always make for an enjoyable night, but the quieter nights are good too, playing a game of pool and arguing over who gets to use the jukebox next. Thats another good point, the jukebox has awesome songs on it.

Me, my partner and baby daughter went here for lunch, NEVER AGAIN. We dared to query our order (which was totally wrong) and asked for a receipt to check it over. The manageress brought over the receipt threw my partners coat on the floor to sit herself down and started to go over what we had ordered. She was aggressive from start to finish especially when we told her the man who served us hadn't listened and had to be told more than once what we wanted (still getting it wrong) couldn't do his job, she said this man was her husband and said it was us who were wrong, after making a show of us in front of the other customers we were allowed to eat our less than adequate food. I would not recommend this pub to anyone the service is disgusting!

Great place for the more alternative crowd. Really much better atmosphere than most other places in Stevo. The kind where no one cares what you lool like or where you're from, much warmer a place. Frequent live music, too, despite the space might not be ideal for that.
