This was my third visit to Red Mountain Resort and I was really excited to return. In the past, we did an all-inclusive visit which included meals, all activities (except premium off-site trips) and a $150 spa credit. This time we chose the "Stay more, save more" option and there were pros and cons. Since our last stay, the resort has been bought out by another company, so quite a few things have changed. The most important change is in the dining services. The wonderful breakfast buffet is gone and instead there is only a sit-down-in-the-restaurant option. Service was friendly but very slow, so it's fortunate that we didn't have a packed day planned. We ordered two bowls of oatmeal, two drip coffees and a fruit cup to share which totaled $40. The servings of oatmeal were much too large and the brown sugar was put on the oatmeal, rather than on the side, which I found odd for a wellness resort. |In visits past, the menus were different each day and there were choices for each meal's appetizer, main course and dessert. This time there was a fixed menu throughout the entire stay with a lack of variety. One member of our party is vegan and there was a lack of vegan options. The online menu lists a quinoa burger which was also not available. One day I stopped in for the "takeaway" lunch and the person who helped me didn't realize there should be salads available, even though they were listed on the menu posted outside the door. I ordered it without gorgonzola and it arrived with gorgonzola, so that was disappointing.|During our past visits, we did a Pound Puppy hike, a guided star-gazing talk in the evening and I attended a talk on the gut microbiome. None of these types of activities were offered during our stay.|We did enjoy our stay once we realized we needed to eat offsite. Thankfully there is a coffee shop within walking distance and we used ride services to have dinner offsite. Since the menu is quite limited, it would be helpful if the resort could provide a list of nearby restaurants.|The Sagestone Spa is as wonderful as ever. Deepest gratitude for wonderful massages with Ana and Coleman and an exceptional acupuncture session with fire cupping with Shayla. The spa has a wonderful vibe, a gorgeous view in the waiting room and a steam room. One caveat is that if you schedule a manicure or pedicure, the salon does not have the ability to remove gel products. This would have been very good to know before we arrived.|In the past I loved the 3-hour morning guided hikes. We didn't do one of these during this stay but instead did a self-guided hike in Snow Canyon State Park, which was lovely.|Considering the price point of the accommodations, I would appreciate higher quality paper products. Tissue-papery toilet paper and tissues are not acceptable. Finally, it's fine with me that the rooms aren't serviced each day, but I would appreciate a daily card or text allowing me to request extra towels or to have the trash taken out. |The stunning views at Red Mountain Resort and the Sagestone spa might entice me to return, but unfortunately none of the changes I saw at the Resort were positive ones.
