In reading other reviews for this establishment, I see that it is, during the summer, more of a bar hangout. And, with only about 8 tables inside, I can see that people who expected a comfortable meal in that atmosphere would be disappointed, as would I. With that said, my review is based on a visit on a rainy, September Monday evening, fairly early, and our visit was a great way to top off our day. A few people at the bar, a few others dining. Attentive service.
Visited with two vacation companions, and we started with the "house cut nachos": Nun Nachos, adding chicken. The portion was huge, the toppings generous, great flavor - we polished off almost all of them down to just scraps! What we didn't finish before our meal, we picked on after instead of dessert! One would think with the size of our meals to come, we'd have no room to finish them off.
We all opted for burgers. Myself, the Fire & Ice Burger. If the burger (menu stating a combo of short rib, brisket & sirloin) wasn't out of this world, I would subtract a star for my disappointment from the lack of "fire". The Fire was to come from the Ghost Pepper Cheese, the Ice from Ranch Dressing and Avocado. It was the Ghost Pepper Cheese that caught my eye, knowing the Ghost Peppers are extremely hot. However, that wasn't the case - maybe need to find a stronger brand of cheese. Nonetheless, the hot sauce on the table kicked it up and since I was in love with the sandwich as a whole, I cannot really complain. The burgers are served on sandwich sized English muffins, toasted crisp, as they should be. Delicious! All the burgers come with lettuce and tomato and I requested raw onion. In addition, I upgraded the fries to Truffle Fries with shredded parm. Mmmmmm!
Both of the other girls had the Nun Burger, with sautéed onions, mushrooms, bacon & cheddar. They also thoroughly enjoyed their burgers. One upgraded to onion rings which we all shared. Perfect.
We were happy to have come across this place. Some places, had already closed for the season after Labor Day, some not open on Mondays. We got a very lucky break!
