Nice little restaurant/pub with a cozy setting. In the warmer months, they have outdoor seating too, which helps as the interior seating can get a bit crammed. The service is good and speedy in regards to the timing of your food being promptly delivered to your table. I say this because we only had an hour to spare for lunch on this occasion, we were impressed with how fast our food was made. The Thai burger is so good, not to be missed! And that peanut sauce they use could go well on anything. It was so delicious. I was able to substitute the beef meat for chicken instead, which was nice to have that option being a non beef eater. My spouse ordered the Nun Burger, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and it was huge. Both our meals came with fries, and honestly, I could have done without them easily. As the burgers could pass for full meals on their own. We left here feeling very full and satisfied and looking forward to sitting on their patio in warmer months to enjoy some cold ones. 😉

Google
Menu was not labelled with vegan options but staff were helpful and happy to check ingredients. I ended up having the veggie burger without the bun (which contained dairy). The burger was a little burnt but it had a really interesting flavour which saved the meal!

Google
They provide indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was friendly but our waitress wasn’t that knowledgeable or helpful about the menu. The food was only ok, local beers were good with a great selection. Atmosphere was nothing special and overall this place wasn’t anything special, and it was not a great experience that we were hoping for.

Google
Love this little gem. We sat at the bar tonight after raking leaves most of the day. Bartender was awesome. Veggie burger and nachos were yummy. We would have lingered longer but a small crowd was hovering behind us so we thought it best to open up our seats. Wish we could have stayed for after dinner drink but did not feel comfortable 🤷‍♀️

Google
Superb service! Great environment. Bartender Matt is extremely polite. attentive and he is a master at all pours. The food is excellent, the owner and rest of the staff are super friendly. This is one of my favorite places on the Cape.

Google
Super friendly staff. The vibe is just right—fun but not too loud. Great bite. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in Chatham!

Google
Nice little spot! Really good baked scallops and onion rings. Staff were friendly and welcoming during a busy time. Inside the bar and deck area has a really cool atmosphere plus there is outdoor patio seating.

Google
I like that they have indoor and outdoor seating. Inside was very crowded. Food was good. Got fish tacos and fish and chips. Both were fresh, crispy and delicious. Bloody Mary could use a little bit of work tho. Needs to be spicier. Turtle cheesecake was good. Server was very nice. Nice atmosphere. The parking lot definitely needs some lights.

Yelp
Stopped here on a rainy night during Labor Day weekend. We figured let's go somewhere casual after coming back from Martha's Vineyard. They had a small parking lot with indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside and got some cold beers to start. For food, we got the nun burger and fish & chips. They were pretty flavorful. Definitely a decent spot to stop at to fulfill your appetite while on the cape.

Yelp
Family friendly pub/bar with parking and a big ramp inside, which is great for accessibility. The inside is tiny but cute. The outside is larger and has shade and a hedge that blocks out traffic noise and sounds. I had the local fried oysters and fries. I wasn't expecting that much but honestly they were some of the best fried oysters I have ever had. A good size and juicy and a nice balance of breading and oyster. Plenty of fries too. We had a big group and the kitchen was a bit slow; but the server was friendly and kind and did a great job of keeping us up to speed on when we would get our food. Would definitely stop by again.

Yelp
Us New Yorkers forgot that we were not in Kansas anymore and everything in the cape seems to close before the sun is down. We bopped around for a few places (some of which closed earlier than expected because they had a slow night) and were recommended by another business owner to try it here. We really wanted to like it, but we did not have a great experience here. We were seated pretty quickly, but the only option was outside. It was a bit chilly and they had no heat lamps, but it was 7:45 and they closed at 9 so we just went for it. Ambiance was casual and a little beach town dive-y We ordered pretty quickly after asking a few questions about the menu. People kept coming in and tables kept filling up. It was super hard to flag anyone down in the corner where we sat, and we were not checked on much. We ended up having to check in a total of 5 times about where our food was, the final time a FULL hour since we had ordered, more since we had arrived. They were closing up by the time we finally got it, which was extremely frustrating. There was very little acknowledgement other than just "it's coming out." At the point of an hour, a little extra customer service can go a long way. The fish tacos came with chips which it did not list on the menu, so that was a nice surprise. However, the tacos tasted like absolutely nothing. So I waited for an hour for bland food. The fish was also not hot, which made no sense, because it could not have been the salad that took an hour to come out? The chips were a little stale as well, but I ended up eating more of that than the tacos. My friend got a cobb salad with chicken which she liked - it was a bigger portion than she was expected, but still nothing exceptional. When we handed our cards to split the bill, they did remember who ordered what and actually split it by that instead of down the middle, which is rare and was appreciated. Would have been nice for them to send us a dessert or something (or maybe take the one drink off the bill?) as an apology for how ridiculously long we had to wait, but there was nothing of the sort. Unfortunately, with the service the way it was and how mediocre the food was, I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
Arriving in Chatham on a Saturday afternoon, we thought we would get a chill dinner after a day of travel. Looking on Google Maps we stumbled upon the Red Nun Bar and Grill and decided it looked like the perfect place. It's a tavern style, low key, don't have to worry about what you're wearing kind of place. When my mom and I arrived, they sat us in the bar area at a high top. There was only one other table seated at the time. Within the next 5 minutes or so a table of 6 and a table of 5 were seated near us. We continued to have to wait for around 15 minutes for anyone to even ask us what we wanted to drink, while the 2 tables seated after us got their drink and food orders in. I kept trying to make eye contact with one of the girls to no avail. I finally had to get up to ask if we were going to be given a server, as we had been waiting. They gave somewhat of an apology saying a server had too many tables and was overwhelmed and would be there soon. At least the girl I asked managed to get us drinks. Still didn't explain how we were passed over for the other tables but at this point we just wanted to order. Mom got Quahog and I got nachos. They were what you would expect from a low key tavern. We chalked up the mediocre service to the "season" just beginning and the young girls probably just having started their summer jobs but overall it was still underwhelming and we didn't think twice about going back the remainder of our trip.

Christina D.

Yelp
Great spot for a quick burger or a beer! Call ahead during the summer, it's a small spot and the wait can be long at times. Off season stop and catch up with locals and enjoy a meal!

Danielle B.

Yelp
Super amazing and attentive server. Food was good. Chili, burger and jerk chicken sandwich.

Ken S.

Yelp
Wowsa. Yeh. GOOD food. GOOD atmosphere so long as you like cozy bars with limited seating. Let it be known we visited mid-March around 2:30 on a Sunday afternoon. The place had such a soft spoken hostess (who doubled as our server, and wouldn't do well in a baton relay). We sat with an old local goat, , while the other locals hung at the bar. All the tables are high tops (my fave). Our soft spoken nameless host gestured that the clam chowder was good. Actually, it was a 9.8! For entree's, I asked about the Nun-Chos. Our soft spoken host mentioned it was good for 2-3 people so I went with it. I didn't share because the local goat wanted the Fire & Ice burger. Four (4) paper towels soaked with forehead sweat later, he called it for our soft spoken host server - a solid 12.0!! The Nun-Chos, add chili, proved to be too much for 1 person, but they were LEGIT nachos. LE. GIT. So much so, that as we were getting up, the people at the table behind us were contemplating Nachos. I shared my thoughts. I'm NOT a local, but I'll be adding this to my list of Oh Yeh, We are Eating Here on our Stays In Chatham. Thanks for being the local goat, Rich. We wish you were there wish us, Eileen.

Cindy ..

Yelp
Fried cod sandwich was absolutely delicious! Outdoor dining made this the perfect luncheon spot in Chatham. Great service and easy location.

Winton S.

Yelp
We decided to try the Red Nun before an Angler's game despite the less than stellar reviews. So glad we did. Great food, our server was fantastic. Since the place was packed I'd say others were not dissuaded by the malcontents.

Stephen A.

Yelp
I went to the red nun in dennis port didn't look like much from the back or the street. Boy was that misleading beautiful on the inside. sports bar atmosphere very clean and great service. I got the Texan burger and it was amazing the hand cut fries were pretty awesome too. Parking is scarce hence the 4 stars.

Reece W.

Yelp
We came here after a wonderful day enjoying Chatham. They were able to sit our big party quickly which was very appreciated, but from there it was not as great as we wanted it to be. The service was not particularly wonderful. We ordered our drinks and did not see the waitress again for 15 minutes. Once she returned we ordered and didn't receive refills on drinks for another 15 minutes. The food was not amazing, and was pretty bland. The beer choice was great. This is an interesting spot in Chatham but was not what we were expecting.

Jolly R.

Yelp
I would take a picture of my burger but it was so good I ate it before I remembered. I got the Fire and Ice burger with avocado, ranch, and ghost pepper cheese. It has a nice kick but could be a little spicier. My man got the Buddha burger which is a bean burger with bleu cheese. The prices are decent and the atmosphere is really friendly. I'll remember this place the next time we're in Chatham.

Sharrun N.

Yelp
Thanks to other Yelpers for this recommendation. We were visiting Chatham, and this place was fairly close to our hotel. I ordered on the app and it was ready when I arrived. We both got burgers, and they were quite substantial. Tasty, too. I thought the Sweet Potato Fries were excellent. I had enough for a second meal. There seemed to be a decent amount of people there on a Thursday, which tells me it must be popular with locals.

Inqiyad A.

Yelp
Love the Fire and Ice burger. Amazing. If you are in town you need to try it. I'm dropping this review because I was in town from afar and look forward to just that when I come here. I tried to do an online order and the online ordering was not working. So I called. They said the shut down ordering "to-go" because it's so busy .. I asked if I came in would I be able to order? (Thinking this would be not much different than me taking a table of which there were a few available) and they said yes. When I got there they said no I cannot do that. This would have been one star. But that fire and ice burger is phenomenal.

Caitlin G.

Yelp
The food was very good. The staff is very nice. It is a cute little place. Would recommend!!!

Melody J.

Yelp
Great local spot - expect to wait as this place is tiny. We dine here every summer while visiting Chatham, then take in an Anglers baseball game. Some parking available.

Michelle L.

Yelp
There was a good amount of patio space. The servers were sweet and consistently checking on us. We mostly came for drinks. I was satisfied with the draft and cocktail lists. Tried the clam chowder, which was good. Bathroom was clean.

Alyssa L.

Yelp
The food was good... however... there was one server who was awful. She actually ruined a nice night out with friends. We got drinks at the bar quick - tipped appropriately for beer and moved onto our table. There was a waitress - who wasn't even our waitress - who came up to us and proceeded to mock us for not tipping more for beers? It was weird! She kept coming over to us continuously making comments. Finally, I stood up to her because the comments were out of hand. She then shouted "GET THE F*** OUT". It was so inappropriate, the rest of the staff told us to just ignore her and stay, but it was so uncomfortable. I know everyone has a "bad day" but you don't know if we had a bad day either and we're out celebrating to get our mind off things. That's no excuse to treat people in the manor she did. I hope moving forward she doesn't treat people the way she treated us.

M D.

Yelp
Great service, friendly bartenders and servers and reasonable prices. Good bye Chatham Squire (new owner, who raised prices dramatically and ow food is sub par) have a new favorite bar and restaurant in Chatham The Red Nun!!

Lark K.

Yelp
Red Nun Bar & Grill seemed like a favorite casual local spot when we visited Chatham recently.. We prefer a more casual dining experience when we travel.. There were four of us, we arrived about 6:15, and were seated immediately with no reservation.. We had some good Adult beverages and enjoyed the fried scallops and the fried oyster dinners a-lot.. Great staff, great food, very casual and relaxing.. A Good time was had by all!

Yelp
In reading other reviews for this establishment, I see that it is, during the summer, more of a bar hangout. And, with only about 8 tables inside, I can see that people who expected a comfortable meal in that atmosphere would be disappointed, as would I. With that said, my review is based on a visit on a rainy, September Monday evening, fairly early, and our visit was a great way to top off our day. A few people at the bar, a few others dining. Attentive service. Visited with two vacation companions, and we started with the "house cut nachos": Nun Nachos, adding chicken. The portion was huge, the toppings generous, great flavor - we polished off almost all of them down to just scraps! What we didn't finish before our meal, we picked on after instead of dessert! One would think with the size of our meals to come, we'd have no room to finish them off. We all opted for burgers. Myself, the Fire & Ice Burger. If the burger (menu stating a combo of short rib, brisket & sirloin) wasn't out of this world, I would subtract a star for my disappointment from the lack of "fire". The Fire was to come from the Ghost Pepper Cheese, the Ice from Ranch Dressing and Avocado. It was the Ghost Pepper Cheese that caught my eye, knowing the Ghost Peppers are extremely hot. However, that wasn't the case - maybe need to find a stronger brand of cheese. Nonetheless, the hot sauce on the table kicked it up and since I was in love with the sandwich as a whole, I cannot really complain. The burgers are served on sandwich sized English muffins, toasted crisp, as they should be. Delicious! All the burgers come with lettuce and tomato and I requested raw onion. In addition, I upgraded the fries to Truffle Fries with shredded parm. Mmmmmm! Both of the other girls had the Nun Burger, with sautéed onions, mushrooms, bacon & cheddar. They also thoroughly enjoyed their burgers. One upgraded to onion rings which we all shared. Perfect. We were happy to have come across this place. Some places, had already closed for the season after Labor Day, some not open on Mondays. We got a very lucky break!

Steve L.

Yelp
Nice find. Looking for a nice meal with local people come on down. 8 tables, 10 stools at bar, but good size deck outside. Had local Nun IPA = yum. Burger and Quahog were excellent. All and all - worth the visit.

Ali Z.

Yelp
I had the whole belly clam strips and my boyfriend had the fish tacos. We just ordered to go as we were on our way to Provincetown. The clams were fresh and delicious. My boyfriends tacos the same. The staff were very friendly and I liked the vibe of the place. We frequent cape cod during the warmer months so we will definitely be back :)

Lucy F.

Yelp
We had an amazing time at the red nun. The waitress was the best waitress I've had in a while. We had somebody in our party that had severe food allergies and they allowed us to bring food for them. There was no wait whatsoever! The food was delicious, and we had a great time! After some shopping in Chatham center, this was the perfect place to cool down!

Kristina H.

Yelp
Tried For the first time tonight. Although there seemed to be a mix up with our food order, as tables that arrived after us were served their food way before our food came, I would still highly recommend. We enjoyed draft beers, the Jerk Wrap and Fire and Ice Burger. We got the truffle fries which were tasty. Food came hot and was really good. Flavors were perfect.

Olivia R.

Yelp
My go-to restaurant for bar food. Really good nachos, chicken tenders and wings with a decent draft list. Also make a great cesar salad.

Glenn F.

Yelp
Great bar with delicious food. Has some excellent local session ipa with a cape cod blt and a nun's burger. Food was amazing, but even nicer to sit at a bar after such a long time and admire all the memorabilia on the walls and ceiling. We will definitely be back soon

Lynn L.

Yelp
Red Nun delivered ! It's hard to get reservations in Chatham. Olivia, our server, was fabulous. The food was plentiful and delicious, it was hot and fresh: We had a great meal!

Janet H.

Yelp
Stopped into the Red Nun for a informal dinner, I ordered the fried clams and I was not disappointed. The were fresh and fried to perfection (without being greasy) This certainly isn't fine dining but they stick to the menus and deliver their standards consistently well. If you looking for a informal reasonably priced place for a beer and dinner on the Cape, this is your place.

Van V.

Yelp
Very decent spot. 3.5 for a good place, not exceptional warranting 4 stars in my view. I would return for what it is. A small bar with nice service and bar food with good tastes and reasonable prices. We shared great buffalo chicken wings, cod fish tacos, and a wedge salad. They were out of steamers. Boo! In past visits a couple of years ago, they had fried lobster and skate specials, not last night. Special was a cod Reuben, we did not find that appealing. Good servers.

Herr K.

Yelp
Baby K and I went for dinner. She says three stars, but I have to go to four. Not sure why. The meal was pretty good. Service was fine; no complaints. Both meals were solid, just did not put me over the top, and as I said, Baby K was less enthusiastic. But it's a pretty good bar atmosphere, and thus the food was not too bad considering this really is a bar. I do like the interior. Worth trying, for sure. Baby K had the BLAT Burger, and I had a baked fish dish that had a pretty tasty crumble on top.

Christa H.

Yelp
Ate outside on the patio -- nice and secluded even though on a main road. Delicious burger and sweet potato fries. Clam chowder was awesome as well!

Alivia A.

Yelp
I'm so glad we stopped to eat here. We got seated right away and our waitress Victoria was so sweet and took our drink order quickly. The burgers were phenomenal and I've never had anything like it. Will definitely be coming back very soon!

Amy B.

Yelp
This place has it all. The atmosphere, good food, and great service. The burger was delicious and so was the dinner salad. Reasonable priced too. Would go there again for sure.

Lisa L.

Yelp
Popped in for a beer and a bite. Nice selection of taps, bar staff was friendly and service was timely. Ordered the jerk chicken wrap -would have liked it spicier but realize you need to accommodate the masses. Fries were hot and crispy !

Jamie K.

Yelp
Went in on a dreary Friday nite in summer and that was my mistake. 45 minute wait for only 7 tables when the patio is closed. Small bar where you can eat, but only 10 people can sit at the bar, it was full. A few people outside at the bar, but no eating outside at the bar. Great atmosphere inside, but just too small. Went to the theatre next door and was looking for a quick bite, but unfortunately it was not happening. Pass by the one in Dennis and it looks good too, too bad they are just so small and even smaller in inclement weather.

Aj Z.

Yelp
My fiancé and I went there for dinner. We got simple foods but they were not good. The burger I got was burnt beyond well done and she couldn't finish her chicken. Their local beer was not good and no one came back for seconds until we finished eating. Overall, it was a disappointing meal and experience and I would not go back.

Paige B.

Yelp
Nope. Not happening again. We were in the Cape for only a few days on vacation and stumbled upon Red Nun. Red Nun Burger - Bad Super soggy flavorless onions, a greasy bland cheddar cheese, floppy mushrooms from a can, translucent white lettuce shavings, and a bland over-medium patty piled a-high on an...English muffin (?). So bad. I douced the fries with malt vinegar and decided to just eat those instead. Grilled Codfish Sandwich with Pesto and Cajun Seasoning - Bad What we expected to be a light and spicy tasting filet actually arrived dripping in oil on a non-memorable bun with pesto mayo and some "Cajun" seasoning that completely missed the mark. It pains me to heap all of this negativity, but I really think there are a ton of opportunities for improvement. Our server, Hannah, was very sweet and accommodating. Her helpfulness and great attitude was the highest point in our meal.

Chelsey G.

Yelp
Typical bar atmosphere and food. If you're looking for something Uber casual, cheap and easy - this works.

Tiger S.

Yelp
If you need some comfort food then this place will do. I can in and ordered nachos and a pulled pork sandwich. Nachos came out and were delicious. Pulled pork sandwich was great and came with fries and a pickle. Prices are very fair and they have a large amount of different beers. Parking was a little tight but it wouldn't stop me from coming back. Waitress was very friendly and the music people were playing was pleasant to my ears.

Matt W.

Yelp
This place is GREAT.....very small dining room (only seats 26 with 3 round high-tops, 3 tables that seat 4, and 2 that seat 6) and small bar (maybe 10 stools) it is GREAT FUN. We arrived at 6 pm on the night of an "As" game, and waited about 5 minutes for a table. Sharleen was a FABULOUS waitress, and even though every inch in the place was packed, she was friendly and efficient....we did not wait for anything. Warning - the portions are SMALL, but excellent. I told Hot Mamma that I liked the fact they did not serve King Sized portions....but we did have to order an extra chicken finger dinner for the girls (each order only has 2 pieces). Food is GREAT. I had the Swordfish special and it was a perfect steak with a light sauce, rice and some veggies....Hot Mamma had the Fish Tacos (only 2) and they were delightful.....I also had a cup of chowder (very small, decent but too many potatoes) and Katie LOVED the stuffed Quahog and Wedge salad..... Took a bit for the food to come out, but it was well worth the wait..... Best of all we had a prime parking spot for the As and we strolled over to the game which is an excellent adventure on its own! Lemonade (2 @ 1.75) 3.50 Cup Clam - app 1.00 Stuffed Quahog 5.95 Wedge 4.95 Kid Pasta (2 @ 4.95) 9.90 Fish Tacos 10.95 Grilled Swordfish 16.95 Cape Cod Blonde Ale (2 @ 4.75) 9.50 ***not the best beer I have had, it was just ok Bud Light Draft 3.50 Kid Finger (2 @ 4.95) 9.90 Total - $80.86

Matthew R.

Yelp
Great food. I would recommend the burgers although they claim the fish tacos are best. We went here twice so I tried each and honestly the fish tacos were nothing to write home about. Not bad just didn't blow me away. I would honestly probably get them again if they didn't have amazing burgers. Good beer selection, great little bar. Love this place.

Tina M.

Yelp
A bit disappointing... bummer. Really was hopeful for good seafood. The fried clams did not taste fresh and very gummy. Fortunately we had a really kind and considerate waitress.

Megan C.

Yelp
I can only imagine how packed this place can get, but it was perfect for a sleety December day! It is a small restaurant but I think that adds to the charm. We started with the nachos with chili - get them! The toppings were amply portioned on top and perfectly layered between the chips. There was a little too much onion, but the chili was so delicious! My boyfriend got the western burger and devoured every bite. It was huge too! He was initially weary of the english muffin but took one bite and loved it. I got the buffalo tenders which were also yummy. The chicken was juicy but the breading was still crunchy, and they were perfectly spicy. The french fries were fresh cut and tasty! Overall the portions were huge, prices were extremely reasonable and service was great! We're definitely looking forward to going back.

Lynda G.

Yelp
Didn't know what to expect from this place but my dad and I went for dinner and it was awesome! I heard about their fantastic burgers which is kind of why we went, but when we got there and heard their specials, neither of us got a burger! I had the grilled pepperoni and onion pizza that was a special. It came with clam chowder, which our server told us comes from Captain Parkers. I'm not a huge fan of CP's chowder, but this was good, rich and creamy! The pizza was also delicious. My father got the swordfish which was a reasonable price and also said it was tasty. He got soup with his meal as well. The server was friendly and even though she made some mistakes and had some shortcomings as a server (must have been new) she made up for them by being attentive and friendly. We sat on the outdoor patio and it was just the perfect summer night. The inside is a little stuffy and dive-like, but we will probably only go during the summer and sit outside because the patio was so lovely. We will definitely be back.

Dawn R.

Yelp
My first time ever to Chatham. Recommended for being a local destination off season. Great lunch for all. Delicious burgers and gigantic fish sandwich with unique tarter sauce. My friends 10 yr old loved his chick n fingers.

Emelia F.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! I came here one or two months ago, and I have to say I don't regret it. COVID-19 measures have definitely been reinforced there. The waitstaff are super nice. The food came quickly and the dessert was like heaven. Don't stop this business, I'm a happy customer and will come again soon!

Ryan G.

Yelp
Had a station at the entrance to wait to be seated. All staff were wearing masks. Awesome hostess and waitress. Food was great and was a refreshing experience of friendly staff and good food.

Marci M.

Yelp
I've tried the Red Nun for a lunch a few weeks back and food with good. Service was average as the waiter was unsure of the specials and junior in experience. I encouraged my friends to go on a Saturday night despite their hesitation. We came from dinner and have leftover pizza in a closed box. We walk in and immediately told we are not able to have that pizza in the establishment and is the same as showing up with our own alcohol, it's definitely not the same. We can agree to disagree about that. We did not even try to eat the pizza. Literally it was to bring home for much later. Coming from Boston it's a very common practice to go to dinner and have a post dinner drink at a local pub. I guess that's not possible in Chatham. Overall disappointing situation for a potential Good last stop for the evening.
