"The closet significant ski area to the Panhandle and southwestern Kansas, lots of flatlanders head to the hills of Red River for their dose of winter fun. It’s inexpensive, unassuming, and the terrain and snow can be quite good. Almost everyone sticks to the groomers, so a powder day here is a slice of Nirvana for experts, as are crazy-steep tiny pitches, and the rollicking Cat Skinner run. With a chairlift departing just off Main Street, it lives up to its nickname of “Ski Town of the Southwest.”"

Google
Family friendly resort. We got our tickets at the main area and never visited that section again. We walked to platinum lift from our hotel every day. The backside of the mountain is a nice area for the kids to ski greens. Lifts were in good shape and price was affordable for a family. Nice little show one night.

Had a great time tubing. The staff are great and really friendly, helped the kids and adults from getting hurt. My only complaint about the place is how it is organized. They have a limited number of tubes, so even if you have time on your slot they have to be given away to the people in the next slot who have to line up for them. So you end up losing time at the start and end. Getting less for what you pay. Doesn’t seem like much but feel you missed out on that one last ride. My suggestion is to either have a gap of 5 minutes between each slot or have enough tubes that people can grab them as they start without having to queue up and people before have to leave.

Red River Ski Area offers a fantastic experience for both beginner and experienced skiers and snowboarders. The slopes are well-maintained, and there’s a great variety of runs to suit all skill levels. The staff is friendly and helpful, making the overall experience smooth and enjoyable. The town itself is charming, with cozy accommodations, delicious dining options, and a welcoming atmosphere. Off the slopes, there’s plenty to explore, from snowshoeing to local shops. Whether you’re here for the skiing or the overall mountain vibe, Red River is a great destination for a winter getaway!

Amazing experience here so far! My first time at river run and I've had nothing but a good experience with all the staff and the snow is beautiful!

Google
Great experience. Skied for two days at the resort. I got to the parking lot around 8:30 and still had plenty of spaces in the main lot. The card system for the lift tickets were easy to obtain and easy to use. Used the rentals on site and had zero issues.

Google
Loved the easy access to the lifts and the different levels of difficulty. This is a great place to learn to ski but also a great place for advanced skiers. We took the copper lift which was right next to our room. This lift was a little tricky for me as I almost slipped off trying to get on. The views are incredible. The width of some of the trails was a little narrow which made me nervous for my kids. The lines at the lifts ate directed by staff which made the wait quick and easy. Will definitely go back! This whole town felt like it was straight out of a hallmark movie.

Google
Red River is our go-to for winter fun! Snowboarding, skiing, and snow tubing for the whole family.

Google
We had the most magical experience learning to ski from Rosie and JOJO. My daughter 10yo was killing the mountain by day 2 after a private lesson and my son (8yo) and I (almost 40) had a great private lesson to get excellent fundamentals to be successful at skiing! Never to young to learn something new! We will be back! Best Christmas present ever!

Yelp
My grandkids went today and one instructor (Maverick) did not help my grandson as he should have. Watched for an hour and he only went down twice. My daughter had to go put his boots on after he Sat down waiting for over 30 mins. The guy does not need to work with kids for sure. Taos next year.

Charles S.

Yelp
Fairly priced family oriented skiing experience. The skiing instructors for the children were friendly, patient, and knowledgeable.

Stacy H.

Yelp
Another family friendly ski area in Northern NM. They have a really nice beginner area off Emerald chair. 2 lifts service the front of the mountain and both have mid stations. They have some really nice black runs. Reasonable food prices and very friendly staff. Really enjoyed my day of skiing. Not a fancy place but Lenny of skiing. Hit the town of Red River after your day skiing or riding.

Cynthia T.

Yelp
First off, they were so rude to us and we were the only asian people there, how convenient. We had multiple workers talk to us like we were stupid and mansplain simple concepts to us. If the resort wants us to do things in a certain order then maybe they should put up a sign that tells us exactly what order to do them in. Second, the employees are so unprofessional. We saw two of the rental people start making out behind the counter, IN FRONT of all the customers. And this wasn't a short moment, this lasted 5 minutes. If you're dating your coworker that's fine but there's a time and place. Lastly, the price is crazy. Almost 200 dollars just to rent and go on the lift sounds like Colorado money. I went to New Mexico to ski so it would save me some money but I might as well have went to Aspen or something. Don't come here if you're asian or looking to save money, or even looking for professionalism because you won't find it here.

Yelp
We stayed three nights in Red River and enjoyed the experience. The skiing was good with mostly man made snow. The silver lift was closed while we were there, but we rarely had any wait in line at any of the lifts. There is one green from top to bottom and it is narrow and often packed with skiers/boarders, that was challenging getting through it across that trail to a blue. When busy, 12/31 afternoon, the area in front of the Lift House, was too crowded and a combination of people standing around, hanging out, and trying to get into line at the lift. We also tubed at Red River. You have to sign up in advance and it sells out quickly. The tubing staff was not that friendly and our reservation started late and ended early.

Yelp
Seeking some adventure on our 3 day New Mexico getaway, my gal pals and I made our way to Red River Ski and Summer Area to hit the autumn-clad slopes! ++ Lots of points of interest in the area for summer and fall hikes! We made our way to an old mine during our visit. ++ There's a really neat looking aerial park (obstacle course), disc golf course, and more! ++ The cost during the ski season is ridiculously reasonable and the terrain seems varied enough for most skill levels! ++ Super friendly people about the area! They gave us some directions and advice. I can't wait to come back in the winter and check out the real star of the show here: the snow-covered slopes. Red River Ski and Summer area was def a hit!

John M.

Yelp
We had fun here. Brought a lot of brand new skiers to the slopes. Great place to learn. We'll-maintained runs and friendly teaching staff. Also appreciate the hosts who greeted us when we arrived and helped us get our bearings.

Yelp
RRSA continues to delight and satisfy our every mountain need. This weekend, they went above and beyond! I won't elaborate, but we had a need to take some aspen pictures and Walt Foley and his crew accommodated us as only one can who operates a five star organization. They do a great job with the slopes, fussing year round on improvements, and summer time has become a large draw as well thanks to RRSA. We love this place and the residents and businesses who make this tiny town thrive!

Jaime G.

Yelp
I am not a beginner snowboarder and therefore this is a ridiculous issue. The slopes getting off the lift are super short and steep causing boards to get caught if you take a second too long. I broke my bindings on the first run and the resort did nothing to help out, not even refund my ticket. Furthermore there is this absurd rule requiring riders to single strap their backpacks, this is an unnecessary hazard and definitely worst than wearing it as intended. Lastly, don't try to put a speaker in your backpack, there are rules against that too. Snow is hard pack because it's 85% man made. Save yourself the trip and go somewhere else. The price may be cheap but you will encounter plenty of issues.

Amanda P.

Yelp
We signed our kids up for ski school and their instructors were AMAZING. Coach Rosie, Coach Kylie, and Coach Zachary! Thank you for being so great with our kids! We highly recommend ski school and this ski area! We had a great time!

Ed L.

Yelp
Great ski area for families. The ski school was right at the base of the mountain and the instructors were patient with our kids. The lifts had almost no lines the week we visited but that may not be the norm. Very impressed with the views up on the high runs. My only complaint was that some of the lifts don't have safety bars which seemed odd--especially since I've skied all over the world and this was the first time I felt a little uneasy...especially when we had our kids along for the ride.

Amy F.

Yelp
This was my first time at this ski resort, and I'd rank it 2 among Angel Fire (1) and Taos Ski (3). Note: 1) I have a snowboarder's perspective 2) lacking snow this winter.. this resort had the most out of the three as of last week TLDR: intermediate overall, good for snowboarders, few trails (smaller resort) Slopes: Few trails so feels repetitive (-) HOWEVER has really great wide blue slopes that were challenging, fun, and layered with the perfect amount of powder and snow. For example, right after getting off the large lift, I'd take the blue trails all the way to the last black slope or blues all the way to Copper Chairs then back up to the top (+) Extremely friendly staff (+) Nice bathrooms (+) Amazing views from the top of the mountain (+) from Taos plaza, easiest drive to the resort (-) Not many lunch options Tip: if you don't mind the drive, take the route to Angel Fire when going to Taos around sunset. Some of the most picturesque views I've seen. Makes you appreciate New Mexico a little more :)

Brian W.

Yelp
I am going to go on the record and say that for a year of no snow, these guys had blown snow that beat any man made snow in the country. The snow makers must be the hardest working guys on that mountain. While the majority of runs open were blues, that was perfect for us as we prefer that in skiing over greens and had a blast. The food was good, and the daily special never failed to do wonders for my hunger. The town is right at the base and that made everything super easy of walking anywhere. Great vacation destination.

Cassie C.

Yelp
This place made our trip. All our kids, ages 3-11, enjoyed the tubing as well as taking the lift up the mountain. Where else can you see/touch snow in June!!?? Everyone was helpful, kind, and accommodating which is so refreshing while trying to relax on vacation.

Lisa R.

Yelp
I want to send a big SHOUTOUT to Sierra! She was so patient with me trying to get all of my grandchildren scheduled for ski school and private lessons! Thank you Sierra!

Scott S.

Yelp
Guest Relations? Adam Griffin was absolutely rude and condescending. We have skied Red River as a family multiple times. Our four children actually learned to ski here. When we purchased ski lessons years ago, a lift ticket was included. We brought a family friend who has never skied. When she signed up for lessons, no where did it say "a lift ticket is also required" or say "also purchase a life ticket?". So our 16 year old friend used her own money to pay $206 for a lesson. About an hour before the end of her lesson as she was going to get on lift for first time, they informed her she had to pay another $90 for a lift ticket. Shocked we went to "guest relations" to inquire when lessons have NOT included a lift ticket. Adam had an attitude right off the bat. I said "No where does it say you need to also purchase a lift ticket." (Showing him my phone.) His response was, "But does it say it comes with a lift ticket???" I said "We've paid for lessons before and it came with a lift ticket, what would make us think it didn't?" Again his condescending remark, "But did it say it included one?" He repeated that phrase at least 4 times. So we will highly discourage anyone ski lessons at Red River or they might get the same shock we got yesterday! Also, don't go to Adam if you don't want to be treated like you are completely unintelligent. A little kindness would have gone a long way.

John R.

Yelp
The first time I went up here the food was literally disgusting and I only ate because we were starving...that said my most recent trip was like night and day. The food was great, the service was great. It's also the only restaurant at the top of the peak so if you didn't eat before you went up the ski lift you're in trouble if you don't like it. I'm not sure if management changed between my two visits (there was a 2 year gap between visits as we only go to Red River every other year) but this last time was great. Keep up the great work!

Kyle G.

Yelp
Their infrastructure is based out of the 1970's. They apparently have no way to reserve lessons or rentals online. They apparently only have one phone line which does not put you on hold...I have called over 300 times now and it goes to busy EVERY TIME!! We left a message after hours and did not get a call back. Do not go here if you want a good time.

Valerie P.

Yelp
one of the best places to ski and snowboard in new mexico! the prices are more than reasonable, and they also have different packages that you can choose from! they have student specials, and even classes you can take for beginners! there are many different slopes for all kinds of levels. around the town there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, and an awesome chocolate/fudge shop! it's beautiful and the best place for real snow in new mexico!

Beau B.

Yelp
Red River is a fun, family friendly, lay back ski area. It is super organized, has a great variety of slopes, and is great for families!

Cassie P.

Yelp
Red River Ski Area is where I learned to ski so you can imagine it holds a special place in my heart. My grandparents live in this small ski town and my grandpa is a German pro-skier turned instructor. The second I could walk, I was put on skis! This place is great for first timers. The magic carpet on the bunny hill is the perfect place to get your snow legs under you and from there, you graduate next door to the yellow chair, then to the silver (used to be red chair), and so on. Friendly instructors are at the ready for both skiing and snowboarding, either private or group lessons. You won't find a wealth of difficult runs like other mountains, but it makes for an easy day of skiing and for me, a nostalgic one. You can grab a bite to eat at the bottom of the yellow chair in the main cafeteria, or at the Lift House at the bottom of the Face, which is what I'd recommend for a little less crowd. Overall, it's a beautiful mountain with friendly people and an easygoing vibe. Be forewarned, no matter what, you're bound to encounter an out-of-towner feeling a little too confident on skis and heading straight down the mountain with a wipeout inevitable. Yeah... Keep an eye out for them.

Yelp
Some friends and I made the 4 hour trip down to Red River from Denver last month, and had a wonderful day of skiing at this gem in Northern New Mexico. It's doesnt get more ski in/ ski out than here, literally. The chairlifts are right there in town a block off Main St. It's a simple as parking the car, purchasing a ticket from one of the kiosks at the Platinum, Copper or Gold chairlifts and you're ready to ride. 57 trails, 3 terrain parks and a 1600 vertical drop, Red River has certainly something for everybody. Don't forget to check out the Ski Tip restaurant and bar on the top of the mountain for a bite to eat or a drink and certainly don't forget the backside of the mountain where most of the green runs can be found through wide aspen lined trails. You can find a cafeteria, daycare, ski lessons and retail shop at ski chalet on one side of the mountain. You can also find smiling faces and an engaging, down to earth, friendly staff no matter where you are on the mountain. Your experience on the mountain is what is most important to them. Not only did I have this feeling on the mountain, but in the town as a whole. That says a lot and I appreciate that. Red River is also the home for the University of New Mexico ski team. You cant help but have the feeling that what they're doing here at Red River is just the way things should be done. Maybe because I've never skied here before and I wasn't sure what to expect, but when you leave a place feeling like you got more than what you could have asked for, you have to know that this is a special place.

Linda D.

Yelp
This ski resort was our first to experience skiing, and as a beginning family in this sport, I am certainly glad we came here. The slopes were very friendly and the set up was ideal. We did take lessons here, and I was not quite impressed with the training, which is why the rating for this place does not get five stars. The trainer was nice, but not confident or loud in his lesson, that most everyone was lost if you weren't at least 5 feet close enough to hear him. They have a small belt way that you can take up to the small bunny slope rather than walking which is ideal for beginners and kids - however, they do have all their training and classes here. Unfortunately, our trainer did not take us beyond this bunny slope. My husband took a snowboard lesson, and they took him to the much higher lift, which I wish we would have practiced with our trainer. I never did experience that one, because I was so scared - it was my absolute first time. At the bottom of the slope you will find a ton of tables inside where you can relax and a small snack shop at the corner to get food and drinks. There is a much bigger lift on the left side that takes you to the peak of the mountain and it takes a good five minutes to get up there at the least. You can go down the green slopes from there, but I rode the lift of shame and came back down - my excuse, I dropped my stick when I got on the lift coming up. No one made me feel little about this lift of shame. The staff are friendly, but most are not professional at all. Many lounge around talking amongst themselves about their own social life, and do not focus much on customer service.

Jill A.

Yelp
Great place for a average skier. The mountain is small, and a bit steep. Lodging at The Wyndham is right next to the lift. I only saw one lift up the mountain. Red River is definitely where you want to stay in the area because of all the great restaurants and souvenir shops. There is hardly anything in Angel Fire business wise except ski rental places, a grocery store, a pizza place, and dollar store. If you get frustrated, go on over to Angel Fire and try out the lessons and the bunny hill for newbies. I think Red River would be a bit challenging for a beginner. Head on down to Angel Fire, it is about a 20 minute drive, and you have a chance to try out tubing, and snow boarding. My husband has visited in the summer and said the hiking is incredible in Red River, he highly recommends, and to take the jeep tour of the area, the guy is hilarious.

Missy B.

Yelp
We love skiing Red River! The staff are so helpful! This mountain was perfect for our family! The snow was great to the end of March!

Barry B.

Yelp
I don't feel that this resort a well suited for beginners. The green paths are far too icy and narrow with precipitous edges. Not offering helmets is dangerous.if you can sanitize boots, poles, boots, and floors and countertops, you can sanitize helmets .

Jeremy G.

Yelp
Awesome customer service! Again awesome customer service. We go to a lot of ski areas in the Rocky Mountain region and Red River has been the most customer oriented so far. The skiing terrain is fun but not super challenging. Still the best service in the Rockies.

Danni B.

Yelp
AWESOME PLACE!! Great place to just hangout and go skiing! It's such a chill town! I stay a hotel ryland and it's great! Make sure you say hi to Carl!

Cheri Y.

Yelp
Red River Ski Area saved the second ski day, our pride & possibly our lives! lol Christmas Eve morning, we woke up, barely could walk from skiing Taos beast Valley so we thought we might make a strategic move & go ski RR & take it easy since we didn't want to die on Christmas Eve trying to ski the beast again in our pathetic conditions lol It turned out to be the best decision of our entire trip ;) The mountain's face is totally in the sun! It was a gorgeous day! Nice & warm, by 10am there were skiers hanging around the lodge outside on the patio in their short sleeve shirts getting some sun like they were lounging around the pool! lol THE SKIING WAS DOPE! Hubby & I had so much fun! We tore that mountain up! LOL It's a great mountain to ski if you just want to have FUN! Not as steep as Taos Ski Valley or difficult but def challenging. There are some really long runs, one that circles the mountain all the way from top to bottom. That run rocks! We would get half way down & hubby would stop & lay on the ground to rest! LOL There were hardly no lift lines & we met some awesome people from all over. Everyone was having a jolly good time & it seemed like everyone was enjoying the skiing more at this mountain. Maybe bc it was easier maybe the sunshine, the service... it was all amazballs! :) I was getting on the lift with hubby & somehow ended up with the chicks in front of him! LOL She was saying "I'm dangerous Diane don't ski anywhere near me I already ran over both my kids & my hubby today!" She was hilarious! I thought she was kidding thou! LOL Sure enough when we went to get off the lift she ran me right over! Hubby was behind us & was like "are you ok?! I saw the lift-chair hit you in the arse then that lady crashed into you!" LOL And yes, I still have that giant dangerous dirty Diane Tatoo right SMACK on my left cheek! LOL It's sooooo beautiful there skiing in full sun with the little quaint town below. We even saw a group of Mountain elk on side of the road on the way there! So cool! The panoramic views from the top are stunning! Great photo ops galore! It looks like a little ski town in Colorado but not as crowded or expensive ;) The lift tickets were cheaper than TSV as well. $66 for adults! And if you rent your equipment they will give you a discount. Hubby's snowboard strap broke & he had to go rent a board & boots, since he already purchased his ticket they still gave him the package discount $99 bucks! The whole staff was awesome, laid back, cool people. Their ski patrol was on the ball there too! They were helping all the kids & checking on everyone that was stopped or had fallen. They really cared not only about safety but if we were enjoying ourselves! We stopped plenty & they would ski up & ask if we were ok & chat every time. Very cool! One ski patrol dude held out his hand for me to help me off the lift at the top, very gentleman like, with a big smile & ask if we were having a good time. Just fantastic service :) The lodge area was not as touristy as TSV. It was more old school Colorado cool & they let you bring coolers of your own food & drink, which many people did. They even had a place to charge your phone so I was able to get some awesome pics! :)) Their hours are better than TSV too! You can ski from 9-5pm! We are already planning our next trip back in a few weeks bc this place is absolutely amazballs! We skied the whole day, then afterwards the whole town was partying! After all, it was Christmas Eve! LOL We were staying in downtown Taos village 45 mins away but next time we are staying here! We LOVED it! Red River Rocks! :))

Yelp
Even though it is January 2, it's not a great time to come here. There's not a lot of snow. The website is a bit misleading. There are 5 chairs running & 15 trails open, however if you are a beginner (green run), you are more or less stuck to the gold chair which has one small run. I ski; however my boys are beginners. We made the mistake of taking the platinum chair because I looked at the map & saw green runs all the way down. We rode it to the summit & had nothing but blue runs (intermediate) until about half way down the mountain. My boys were really upset. It totally ruined it for them. I'm really bummed out. I spent so much money on this trip and we all really looked forward to it. If I were skiing by myself, the lack of green runs would be no big deal. I did this to spend time with my boys & they are not enjoying it. Kind of a big let down.

Rob K.

Yelp
I was well impressed with this place everything is completely affordable from lodging to lift tickets for a small ski town this place is awesome and personable the lifts are a little slow but that helps you catch your breath. Everything is on one street and within walking distance and they have plenty Affordable ski in and ski out hotels and condos. I look forward to coming back but I think it will be a few years the Fiańce is more into the gondolas due to the getting on and off the lift. Thanks for the memories and we will see you in a couple years!

James D.

Yelp
This place is a small but solid ski area with friendly staff willing and capable to go the extra mile for you to enjoy your day. I signed my daughters up for the never ever snowboarding class which is a full day. One girl got sick in the morning and we hoped she'd be able to go after lunch. Unfortunately she could not and my other daughter didn't want to be on the hill alone. I didn't think they'd do it but I asked if we could exchange the girl's gear for adult gear. They said sure can, and gave me an adult afternoon lift ticket after I turned hers in. They could very easily have said "tough stuff" but they didn't. Outstanding!

Chris B.

Yelp
Reservationsunlimited.com will take your money and present and then remove/change their cancellation policies to make sure that they keep your money! Make sure your either avoid this company outright or take pictures of ALL policies at time of reservation else you will regret it when they try to manipulate your reservation to their benefit and your demise. Totally crooked company!!!!

Pamela M.

Yelp
Tim, the park ranger at the top of chair lift is the best! After our hike and drink from the snack bar, he gave us an informative talk on the area and local wildlife. We got to touch some of his animal skulls, furs and just converse. Tim made our experience A-1. He's there most days at 11a. Make sure you ask for him!

Pei W.

Yelp
Very nice, beautiful and interesting hidden family area behind the hill with lots of green runs and so fun! Good for family and very beautiful site. Rental was easy and no lines at the lifts. Food was pricy 8 dollars grilled sandwich (a small piece of chicken on buns) no fries, but at least the girl is nice and smiling not as rude as Sipapu. We had a great day and will return again!

Robyn V.

Yelp
I love this place super friendly staff! I have been here multiple trips and am experienced skier unfortunately I did hurt my foot this past week there tubing and had 1 additional day left of skiing...the customer service went above and beyond for me amd my daughter since I was unable to ski and my daughter having no one with us to ski with her refunded us hers and my lift ticket purchase... I was not expecting this at all it made me feel like there is such a thing as customer service and and will not be going anywhere else.

Brooke P.

Yelp
I've been skiing at RRSA since I was a kid....30 years ago....it is my favorite ski area & we bring our kids here now. We drive over 800 miles and bypass numerous other ski areas to come to Red River! The staff is kind & helpful. The rental staff is top notch! The ski school can't be beat....their instructors are phenomenal! The family friendliness of this place is just great!

Ryan L.

Yelp
My family loved going on the Ranger tour on the top of the mountain. If you can, make an effort to go on this wilderness adventure. Ranger Tim and Jenna were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and gave us a ton of recommendations of fun things to do in the area. The ski lift ride was 30 mins long each way but the views are gorgeous. If you enjoy frisbee golf the course on the top of the mountain looked fun and challenging. The only thing that wasn't awesome was the restaurant on the top. Don't order the chicken basket from the Tip! The French fries were good though...Tubbing was amazing. The kids loved the obstacle course and zip line!

Joan B.

Yelp
Had a great time. Friendly and helpful staff, but who's running the chair lift operations? It seemed nobody was paying attention when people fell and kept piling up and nobody stopped the lift. It almost seemed that it was on purpose. Lift seemed to run too fast for people just beginning

Eileen H.

Yelp
Best vacation ever! Went to ski and loved the town, the ski area, the hotel. Very happy and can't wait to come back.

Tim L.

Yelp
Great views!! We took the lift to the top, nice areas for great mountain pics. The lift folks and tip restaurant folks also very nice and helpful, the lady selling the tickets, not so much, thus the one star deduction. I asked the ticket lady a simple question, what safety measures are in place for lightening? She was very flippant, like we should know what to do, I do on land, but not on a ski lift going up or down the mountain...MANAGEMENT needs to retrain staff on saftey proceedures durning a lightening event , very evident this employee forgot what to tell folks. Also, I was informed there are NO lightening detection device in use, seems like this would be a great saftey tool for your employees and saftey of the paying customers.

Rita H.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time on the ski lift to the top of the runs. Beautiful views. Reasonably priced. A definite recommendation

Chris A.

Yelp
I took my family here for Spring Break the week of 3/10. This was my first time to this resort as we had skied Angel Fire the year before. Compared to AF, I like RD much better. The crowds weren't as bad and you could actually find a place to sit and have lunch. If you are going to ski the platinum runs, park in the overflow parking and walk to the lift by the bar. You can avoid the whole mess at the base of the mountain. All the crew working there were very nice and helpful. My 1st graders were able to ski the black slopes without a problem. If you are looking for very aggressive skiing, this is not the place for you. For family skiing, with decent variety and some fun runs, Red River was great. If we ski NM again we will come back here.

Yelp
We had four grandchildren that took ski class today here. Between ages three to six. Our boys had Peter as their instructor. If you are able I would highly recommend Peter. He was amazing with our four and six year old boys. He had them skiing down the larger practice area and doing amazing in such a short time. They are both shy boys and Peter has the perfect personality along with the great skills for teaching. We weren't quite as impressed with the girls teachers. Our three year old was allowed to go skiing down the practice area along and scared her badly. She was done after that scare. All the staff at checkin and rental were very friendly and an enjoyment to deal with. Overall a great family experience.

Yelp
I would have rated higher because my boys enjoyed the summer tubing but we had a problem. My mom is in a wheelchair and is an amputee. She has crutches and a wheel chair well I asked at the front desk if she could do the lift up to the gold tubing the gentlemen said that would be no problem so I buy her ticket for one hour for $23 and get her to the lift for them to tell me she can't go!! She was so upset after getting excited to be able to do something in town other than fish! This place had a road going up to top by the tubing that they could have took her upto just ride down at least once! If you are handicap this is not the place for you. They did not welcome her in any way or try to accommodate her!

Yelp
Beautiful town with friendly and helpful people. My family and I are from all over Texas and everyone was kind and patient with our lack of experience in the snow and cold. We had a great time learning to ski and am absolute blast seeing the sights on a snowmobile tour. We're already planning next year's trip and can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Red River claiming to have 30" base and open the day before Thanksgiving. Their website says they have 85% snowmaking capability on the mountain too but there are 2 runs open and they claim 3 lifts running, sure if you count the conveyor belts the toddlers and beginners use and that is exactly what they did. That makes up the 3 lifts. So before you drive all the way up here call and see what is open on the mountain because this is a huge disappointment! Stayed in RR and skied in Taos and Sipapu. They have less snow for base but 20+ runs open or more.

Yelp
My family had a terrific experience at Red River Ski Area. Friendly, helpful staff. Extremely clean restrooms. Nice lifts. Well groomed runs.
