Red Rock State Park

Google
Came here for hikes twice with my wife. Really love how secluded it was as you hike outward. The views are truly spectacular as you can see a lot of the main Red Rock formations from here. Trail was well maintained and relatively bug free. We did see some private property along the way but generally well marked. If you are into moderate hikes with great scenery then this is definitely the right place. Just be sure to bring a few bottles of water.

Google
Only had a short time so we took a drive up to red rock State Park. We did an easy 2 mile hike and it was gorgeous!

Axel

Google
The park is very nice and underrated. Tons of nice trails and a nice mini museum inside the visitor center. Bring tons of water or gatorade, as the hot weather plus the hiking trails can make you exhausted. Nice scenery. 100% would recommend to a friend or family to visit. Nice wildlife too.

Google
Red Rock State Park was absolutely stunning! My friends and I visited recently and were blown away by the natural beauty and photo-worthy views at every turn. Even though it rained the whole day and we couldn’t stay long, we still managed to capture some amazing pictures and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The only thing we wish could improve is the parking—it felt a bit limited and tricky, especially on a busy day. But overall, it’s a must-visit if you’re in Sedona. Hoping for better weather next time because we’ll definitely be back!

PL

Google
This state park charges a $10 per person entrance fee and NOT per car. Unless you are into hiking around the park, the views of the surrounding mountains are no more spectacular than those you get from the various roadside lookout spots. There is a museum here with some displays.

Kendall H.

Google
Excellent drive with places to stop off for pictures. The park itself has 5 trails including on just .4 miles along a stream. Others are 1 to 3 miles long. Possible wildlife sightings but we only saw some birds. Peaceful environment. Picked up a cool new ornament in visitor center. Trails are not paved.

Kasey C

Google
Great state park, just a heads up it is $10 per person not per car so the can definitely get pricey. Every day at 10am they have a ranger guided nature walk that takes about an hour. We chose to go on it and enjoyed it. This is a park you do have to walk, it's not one you can drive around and see things. Make sure you drive down to the creek, it's beautiful.

JD

Google
Beautiful place to hike. I suggest starting early to stay out of the sun. The place is well kept and there are many trails.

Yelp
A beautiful state park in Sedona, often overlooked by nearby popular trails. Make sure you drive the loop road through the park! The best thing you could do when you first come to Sedona to get a feel for the area is come to red rock State Park! You could see many of the famous sites from here as well as get a really good feel for the area. Sunsets cannot be beat up here also! The one other thing you should do first when coming to Sedona area for the first time is to stop at the chapel of the Cross on your way to Sedona from Phoenix. The state park is beautifully maintained with plenty of parking! They even have their own gift shop there. Plenty of bathrooms, and lots of trails. Some of them are very easy for all ages right next to the parking lot. You can also take a more moderate trail called eagle nest, which I loved, which is also very close to the parking lot. Highly recommend adding red rock State Park as a must when visiting the area in addition to other popular areas!

Yelp
Spent about 2 hours here walking the trails, observing the flow of the creek and taking in the enormous red rock formations. To My surprise there is a fair amount of greenery and vegetation in the park. There are short low bridge walk ways across the slow steaming water, low hiking spots, a visitor center that includes a shop, theater and exhibits that tells the story of the area. There is also a picnic area with seating and grills. Had a good time
google avatar

Yelp
The park ambassadors excel at maintaining clean trails, and the clearly placed signs make navigation easy. Even if you wander off course, the interconnected trails will guide you back on track. The Education Center features a looping video that highlights the challenges park rangers face in preventing E. coli contamination in the water supply. Leftover food and garbage attract wildlife, complicating these efforts.

Yelp
Like all of the natural environments in and around, Sedona, Red Rock State Park offers a lot of beautiful and scenic surroundings. This being the case, it is not quite as fun as many of the other places to hike in and bask in the beauty and energy of Sedona. The main reason for this, at least as far as I'm concerned, is the fact that there is all of these signs telling you what you cannot do. For example, most recently, one of the main things is you can't do is put your feet in the water or anything like that. It kind of feels like you are really hindered from achieving the full Sedona natural experience at this location. I get it, this is totally a to each your own experience. But, for me, this kind of limits my enjoyment level. Overall, what this park offers is a nice visitor center, a nice hummingbird garden, and some interesting, beginner level trails. Yes, you do have to pay to get in, but other than that, there's really not too many negative things you can say about this place. Overall, if you want to go to monitored state park, and you don't want to do any extensive hiking, or having fun by sticking your feet in the water, or anything like that, this may be your location to go.
google avatar

Tracey A.

Yelp
Red Rock State Park is for those days when you don't want to brace the Sedona Shuttle to get you to the more popular trailheads. You'll pay the price ($10 per adult) to enter and that might be my sole complaint. But pay the fee and drive ahead; a parking lot awaits as well as clean restrooms and ample signage pointing you to the various, well-marked trails. None of the trails here (about 5 miles in total) seemed difficult and most of what I encountered was flat to mildly hilly. Some hiking here I'd actually categorize more as a "walk". Without the elevation gained by hiking up, the red rock formations I spied here were viewed by my looking up towards them. Still lovely, but there's other places to do that with no fee attached. Red Rock State Park is a mellow escape from the more crowded trails in town and not a bad place to go for a pleasant walk in nature.
google avatar

Matt K.

Yelp
Great over all spot to experience the nature of Sedona and also to drive the loop if not hiking. Nice visitor center too.
google avatar

Andrea B.

Yelp
Beautiful park and found some cute items in the gift shop to bring home to my daughter and Mother in Law!! The rooftop observation deck offers a great view of all the landmarks!! Spent a couple nights here in Sedona as a mini honeymoon before Key West coming soon!!
google avatar

Summer P.

Yelp
Beautiful views, great hikes accessible to most levels. We've been here with kids and other than needing to put them in Princess dresses to get them out the door, they were fine.
google avatar

Joann V.

Yelp
4 stars I only took the scenic drive known as Red Rock Loop Rd. It is a very nice and easy drive through the park and I don't think you have to pay just to drive through it. I believe you do have to pay if you intend to park your car and hike, but I can't be sure and would suggest stopping by the visitor's center to ask. Anyways, the drive is nice. The pavement is smooth and there is a nice view at every turn. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Janelle F.

Yelp
Always beautiful no matter if you take the drive through the park or stop to enjoy it. It's clean and views never disappoint. You can stop in Crescent Moon are to swim etc it's definitely a must due atleast once if you've never been. If you're lucky you may even see some wild life. There are so many different hiking trails as well. So bring your gear and make a day out of it.

David S.

Yelp
The park is easy to get to and has a good size parking area. Before you get to the visitor center you have to pay $10 per person at the entrance. From the park you have a good view of Cathedral Rock in the distance. My main reason for going there was to get a good pic of Cathedral Rock. The hiking trails are marked at the beginning of the hike, but disappear all together after about a half mile or so. Easy to miss a turn back tracking, which I did. Wish they had more markers. Don't expect much shade while hiking! At the end of the trail I was on, I realized there was a highway that would have taken me closer to Cathedral Rock! Could have saved me a 5 mile round trip hiking! The trail was a bit boring, in terms of scenery, except for Cathedral Rock. Possibly some of the other trails were better.
google avatar

Katy M.

Yelp
This park has been on my bucket list for many years, the trails were easy to hike and we got to see mule deer as we walked around. This park is a hiking park only, so if you're looking for a drive there is one around the park but not inside of it! The staff here is extremely helpful! Would recommend taking a trip in here!

Yelp
Absolutely astounding. The park was mediocre, however the park ranger compa jake is absolutely amazing. He went out of his way to make sure me and my family had the greatest time we could've had. We first started by getting to the parking lot and we saw compa jake pass by in his little green car and he waved at us. After that we went to the other side of the park and we saw him again and advised us that there might be animals and for us to be careful. Overall one of the best days of my life and this trip will always be remembered because of how great compa Jake did that day and how he went above and beyond. If any supervisor are seeing this, please make sure compa Jake gets a raise that man deserves it. I end this review by saying round of applause compa Jake, you will make it very far in life. P.s. Compa Jake, you were born to be a park ranger.

Yelp
We did the Cathedral Rock hike on a Monday in April. It was busy but not crowded and doable for a group of kids, ranging from age 2.5 to 9. We got to Sedona around 9:50am and they had closed off the road that leads to the trailhead. We were directed instead to the shuttle about a mile down the road. It's hard to notice the sign for the shuttle pick-up spot. We were following the shuttle, otherwise we would have missed it. It's in the parking lot for The Church of the Red Rocks, and the spots fill up quickly. However, there are attendants managing the parking lot, letting you know if there are spots open, and managing the queue of cars who come in after the lot is filled up. Spots will open up when a shuttle arrives and people get in their cars to leave (there isn't much else around there so there's no real reason to leave their cars parked). Overall the shuttle added about 30 minutes. There are port-a-potties at the parking lot and at the trailhead. There is no water available at either spot. There is very little cover during the hike. There is a decent amount of scrambling in the middle, and a bit of a bottleneck at one point. It was doable for kids 3+, and for my 2yo, I carried her for parts of it. Overall it took us about 2 hours round trip (1.53 miles, 58 minutes of moving time). The views at the top were amazing, and there are lots of opportunities for exploration, further scrambling, and rock climbing.

Yelp
Beautiful place to visit, definitely coming back, Devils Bridge and Cathedral rock is a must

Yelp
Well folks, they don't call it Red Rock State Park for nothin'! This park is surrounded by gorgeous red rock formations, many of which can be seen from right behind the visitor's center! There are about 5 miles of hiking trails here that range from easy to moderate. All of them can be combined to form a beautiful 5 mile hike around the park! I hiked this 5 mile loop and the views and terrain were just simply amazing. The trail starts off flat and follows a sanded path through vibrant green trees and lush greenery. You'll cross over a little bridge that will take you to a few other trails. Most of the trails are short, easy, and family friendly, but there are a few trails that will get your heart pumping. My favorite trail was the Eagle's Nest Trail. This trail starts off with switchbacks that gradually incline to the highest peak in the park. When you reach the top, you'll have sweeping 360 degrees views of the red rock mountains and Sedona Valley. The trails are well marked here and since the park is relativity small, it's hard to actually get lost. I loved being able to see all of the wonderful desert vegetation! The baby cacti were so pretty. Most of the trails offer little to no shade, so bring sunscreen and water if you're planning on coming during the warmer months. It's $7 per adult to enter, but it's totally worth it for the wonderful hiking trails and the views. This was one of my favorite parks to visit during my trip to Sedona, and I'd happily come back again.

Yelp
I highly recommend this beautiful park. Entrance is $7 per adult and no pets are allowed. You are advised to pack out your trash to protect wildlife. Go to the Visitors Center at 10am and you can join a free walking tour. It lasted about 90 minutes and took us all around the park (maybe 1.5 miles) -- our volunteer ranger Celeste was friendly and knowledgeable. The views are amazing and you will be so glad you visited this lovely place.

Mary T.

Yelp
Amazing and beautiful! The trails are nice to walk and not very hard at all for all ages. We will come again!
google avatar

Maxine P.

Yelp
Instead of going in the park we drove the loop by the park and the views are stunning. Even if you do not go in park the drive is worth it. Sorry attached photos not great shooting into wrong direction and sky was not clear that day.
google avatar

Yelp
What a hidden gem! Had not heard of it before, but as a fan of AZ state parks when I saw the sign I knew I had to check it out. Lovely visitor center to learn about human and natural history of the area, and up to 5 miles of trails that you can piece together from the trail guide and the well-marked intersections. Be aware that to conserve these resources there are no pets allowed and Oak Creek can't be entered to wade or swim. (You can have pets and enter the creek water in other places nearby outside this state park). Great for families, elders, and others looking for a nice walk.
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
This is a nice little park right on Oak Creek. One of the oldest homesteaded properties, it has hiking trails that go up and down the creek in the shade of native plants. There are places where you can get a good picture of Cathedral Rock and the surroundings with you in the foreground. There are lots of hiking trails in the area. It's a great place to hold weddings and vow renewal ceremonies. You can find quiet spots on the water via wooded trails, or use one of the big meadows to accommodate larger parties. If you know what you're looking for, you'll find the old irrigation canal, a barn and a water wheel. Don't expect any amenities, though. I think they have a pair of restrooms, but that's about it. We entered with our Red Rock Pass, and the parking was ample. The scenery is beautiful.
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
We came here 1 hour before it was to close, but I can't wait to hike up all the trails next time I am back!! Breathtaking and clean environment. The wall across the bridge is priceless, I will always be a visitor on all my Sedona trips!
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Beautiful place to relax and enjoy some of Sedona's red rocks. Plenty of easy trails to enjoy and a small visitor center. Admission fees are a bit steep for this park which is why I am knocking off a star. If you're in the area and looking for less challenging trails this is a nice stop.
google avatar

John A.

Yelp
Very scenic with multiple paths. To get a healthy hike in, you need to stitch together a couple other trails. We kind of fumbled through this but it was still gorgeous.
google avatar

Sarni N.

Yelp
I love coming here. Absolutely beautiful scenery, and a variety of different trails. The hiking and the views here are well worth the visit. Easy to spend an entire day here wandering the trails up through the hills and down in and across the creek. The trails aren't too challenging nor, in the grand scheme, do they take you too too far from the visitors center. Admission is 7.00 per person. Make sure you have plenty of water though! Well maintained natural reserve. Its full of wildlife and breathtaking outlets of the area! Just an awesome place!
google avatar

Mary P.

Yelp
Wasn't sure if the $7 a person would be worth it, but was pleasantly surprised at how fun the hike was. Great views, mixed difficulty and basic facilities. Would definitely return!
google avatar

Lori H.

Yelp
This state park is great for hiking, they have numerous trails with all skill levels. There are nice scenic views, but if you want to get up close and personal with the red rocks, I'd recommend the Upper Red Rock Loop drive, which is free. This park costs $7 per person admission. There is plenty of parking available. The visitors center is small, but they do have a lot of information on the animals you may see while hiking in the park. They also have a dry-erase board listing all animals/reptiles spotted by hikers within the park and what trail it was spotted on. In addition, there are restrooms and a small gift shop with souvenirs and snacks.
google avatar

Laynie D.

Yelp
The ranger was rude and unpleasant. This place is an outside hiking park with very little shade. We were told we had to wear masks while hiking, even though we are excused. Plus, we would not be able to put our feet in the water and the cost was high. We ended up going just a few miles down the road to the Red Rock Recreation center. We paid $11.00 and hiked in the shade, played in the water and the ranger was a sweetheart. One could still hike to Cathedral Mountain and the pictures we got were way better. There were a lot of picnic tables to enjoy our lunch.
google avatar

Veronica K.

Yelp
Visited Red Rock State Park for the first time after having been to Sedona multiple times! I've obviously seen the red rocks of Sedona and am always in awe when I see it so this wasn't a surprise. It was very wide and spacious with a lot of trails and nature to take in. They had a welcome center that was filled with good info and souvenirs as well.
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
I can't say in words how beautiful and amazing and how many hiking trails, bike trails, and ATV trails there are. It is simply amazing. There are trails from simple to difficult but all are beyond beautiful. Make sure you take lots of water and done protein bars or fruit. You won't be disappointed
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
If you even have a slight interest in the outdoors, this is a must visit. They have lots of trails for all skill levels from flat as a pancake to some that are much more of a challenge. The views of the famous rocks are worth the trip alone and the deer we saw while hiking didn't even run while we walked past, he just looked at us. The visitor's center is pretty good too, even though I just made a short visit to check it out. We were there early on a weekend and were able to get a parking spot no problem. This place is a must see in Sedona.
google avatar

Meldie P.

Yelp
My kids last fall break this week before they go back to school next week. I figured I'd take them here to take a strolls and even hike. The drive up north is beautiful along with the weather. No traffic at all today, so we got there in 2 hours and 18 minutes. Google took us around Cornville then Page Spring Rd, which have a lot of wineries located in this small town. In the entrance of the this state park has a booth where you drive up and pay the day pass for using the park today. Entrance park fee is $7 per adult and $4 for kids. They will give you a parking pass that you need to display in your car along with a map. I brought some food from home and had a quick picnic at the park with my kids before we head to the trails. Once we got to our parking destination, we gear up for our hike and made sure that everyone use the bathroom first. This is located right across the gift shop. Right before we start our trails, I looked at the park map and two of the bridges are closed, so we have to take a different trails to get to our destination. The hike was very rewarding specially when we got to the top to see the remarkable view of Sedona cathedral rocks. I took many beautiful nature pictures of my family adventures. It was amazingly therapeutic and breathtaking. I definitely had an amazing day with my kids and we all love this state park.
google avatar

Nydia A.

Yelp
Loved this place. There was a small fee to enter but it's one of the few Sedona trails with a creek. While you can't get inside of the water, it still brings an additional sence of peace, serenity and relaxation. As soon as I entered and crossed the bridge I saw a few deer, they were beautiful. The hike itself was fairly easy and short. Offered some good views and easy to follow trails. Not much incline and the crowd wasn't too bad. Good facilities as well. Clean bathrooms, water fountain, and an air conditioned theater that shows a short film about the history of Sedona. Well worth checking out for anyone looking to spend a couple hours exploring Sedonas stunning beauty.
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
Red Rock State Park stretches out to about 286 acres. There are 5 miles of interlocking trails with each trail offering different skill levels or interest. My husband and I picked up a map to learn more about the trails before we set out for a relaxing morning exploring. The scenery was beautiful and wonderfully peaceful. There were very few people early in the morning but the few that we did encounter were very friendly. We definitely needed sunscreen and lots of water. Every morning you can take a guided nature walk and learn about the different life zones within Red Rock State Park. If you like bird watching you can participate in a guided walk on Wednesday and Saturday at 7am.

Yelp
Red Rock State Park in Sedona, AZ, is a great place to visit if you don't have much time to spend in the Sedona area, but want to have a day to explore the amazing sandstone formations created over eons of wind and water erosion. There are several excellent walking/hiking trails with little elevation to contend with that will provide the feel of back country without the need for gearing up, nor spending months getting into better shape to deal with the otherwise taxing demands on the cardiopulmonary system. Definitely worth a few bucks to have all this already figured out for you. Of course, if you have more time, and are in decent physical condition, there are better trails that will take your deeper into this desert paradise. If you're a fanatic, you wouldn't spend much time in Sedona anyway, as there are more stunning places to find on your own with the help of a good TOPO map and perhaps a Navajo guide. One of the coolest (literally) elements of the park is its access to Oak Creek. This is the prime water source for Sedona City, and it is loaded with cottonwood trees and huge boulders, both of which provide just about the only shade you can find. There are plenty of small secluded glades where you can jump in the creek, cool down, and look at the cliffs around you. It can be quite romantic with the gurgling watercourse serenading you, and the dappled sunlight caressing the pools and rocky perches.

Yelp
Where the sky became a bigger thing. My attention to the land below was distracted by the sky above. What kind of sky was this? Three hundred sixty degrees of a storm whipping up the landscape. Reached a hotel before the deluge over the alien ground. I assume the red rocks were happy to stand sentry minus the city slicker.

Yelp
Another home run with Arizona state parks! Wow, just beautiful space. The drive into the park is gorgeous, surrounded by the greenery and red rock mountains. You'll pay $4-$7 per person to enter the park, but all of that money goes right back into maintaining this beautiful place. The rangers are super nice and always willing to help you make the most out of your visit. There are plenty of dedicated picnic areas so if you bring your own lunch you'll have plenty of really nice places to enjoy the meal. We typically head straight for the visitors center. Plenty of paved parking, public restrooms, a small shopping spot and some museum-type displays to learn about the riparian areas in the park. We enjoyed the white board posting all of the "critter" sightings over the past month. Bobcats, javelina, mountain lions, snakes, deer, rats, etc. The park truly is "untouched" space and so your chances of seeing or encountering wildlife is pretty high. Especially as you hike trails that go deep into the park space. As you walk out of the visitors center there are 2-3 trailheads that offer a variety of skill levels for all sorts of hikers. You can head towards the creek's bridge to cross over and check out the massive cottonwood (wedding) tree. Plenty of photo opportunities everywhere, just take it all in. Expect good sized crowds at some of the more popular trails. As always, bring sunscreen, a hat, good shoes and plenty of water. You can really learn and see A LOT at Red Rock state park but you need to make sure you stay hydrated and protected from the sun so you're not suffering later in the day. Enjoy this beautiful place!
google avatar

Yvette C.

Yelp
The best part about coming to Sedona was this place! Amazing views, able to connect with the beautiful surrounding nature
google avatar

Manda Bear B.

Yelp
Beautiful, easy to moderate hike, you can do easily 4-6 miles here to the top and back. The state park is very well marked, easy to navigate, but no water or trash can anywhere so you need to make sure you are hydrated! You can see plenty of wild animals here! $7 per person on September 2018!
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
If you have a few days in Sedona, Red Rock State Park is worth a visit. It's a relatively small state park, but has an excellent walk/hike with spectacular views and isn't far from downtown. The longest trail, Eagle's Nest, was easy to handle, even for us Medicare-aged folks. We enjoyed starting out in the beautiful fall colors at the foot of the hills (we hiked on Oct 31), then up into pine desert, then open desert. The park was pretty empty (like many venues in the Sedona area at the moment), and for much of the walk we felt like we had the place to ourselves. As is almost always the case hiking in state parks, everyone we did happen to meet was happy and friendly.
google avatar

Victoria W.

Yelp
Obsessed. That might not even be a strong enough word! It is absolutely gorgeous here! The hiking is easy and beautiful. We did 4.5 miles and could have easily kept going. The sights are truly breath taking. It's amazing to see such beauty in the dessert. I would come here all of the time if I lived close by. It wasn't crowded at all. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend coming here!! I've posted just a few of the million photos I have!

Yelp
Red Rock State Park and Red Rock Crossing State Park are 2 separate and distinct state parks. They are both on Red Rock Loop Road but Red Rock Crossing is not actually a state park but is operated by the US Forest Service. The "classic" view of Cathedral Rock that everyone wants to photograph is in Red Rock Crossing Park NOT in Red Rock State Park. Red Rock State Park is a small day use Park with a fee required. There is no swimming, camping or pets allowed at Red Rock State Park. The is a very nice Visitors Center at the far end of the park and some very nice, well maintained picnic areas. The staff (part f/t rangers and part volunteers) was all very professional, very courteous and very helpful. The park offers some excellent views of the red rocks. Red Rock State Park is a clean, quiet place to enjoy nature.

Yelp
Amazing experience in Sedona. This was my girlfriend first pit stop when checking Sedona out. Would definitely recommend anyone to come check this out. Definitely a serenity of peace that's hard to experience in the United States. Anyone visiting out of town, definitely make sure to put that in your itinerary.
google avatar

Dasle K.

Yelp
Most definitely the highlight of my entire trip to Arizona. The views here are unreal. It's amazing to be so close to such beautiful sights. This park took my breath away. I just remember saying "wow" at everything. There's nothing like this place - and it's one of those places where you can't really describe it to others. You need to experience it for yourself. I can take all the photos in the world and write a 5 star review, but you just need to go. At least once in your life. There's a ton of different trails, all different levels for different hikers. I'm new to hiking so I opted for one of the easiest ones (Bell Rock Path) but I'll be back for the more difficult ones for sure! Thanks Sedona for being so beautiful.
google avatar

Channon H.

Yelp
I have been to Sedona many times over the last 20+ years, but last weekend was my first time driving through the Red Rock State Park. We'll be back when the temps are cooler to enjoy the trails.

K A.

Yelp
We visited Red Rock State Park during the morning/early afternoon of July 5. There was only a small wait to get in, and we found parking right by the visitor's center. The park is stunning! We did most of its 5 miles of hiking trails. The inclines are gentle, but make sure to bring water, and watch out for the heat. There's a wide variety of plants, insects, and lizards to be found throughout the park. We particularly enjoyed seeing the giant velvet mites, which were surprisingly beautiful, and watching the lizards scurry around. And, of course, the vistas are very impressive and showcase the geological wonder that is Sedona. Don't miss the visitor's center museum at the end. It's small but has a cute museum and a hummingbird garden. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
I came to trail run here on a weekday morning. I went from the Turkey Creek parking lot and ran to East Gate to get inside the park (with a self-service walk-in $4 fee). I went from Javelina to Apache Fire to Coyote Ridge to Eagle's Nest to Kisva back to Eagle's Nest to East Gate to Yavapai Ridge to East Gate back to Turkey Creek, totaling 7 miles. I didn't see many people although I saw a few, and there were some pretty great views at some lookout points. All bridges are close aside from the east-most bridge, and some of the trails connected to these bridges are closed as well. Would I pay $11 to enter this park with a car? Probably not; the rest of Sedona is so much better. That being said, all trails here are signed and every fork has an accompanying map which is great (this is true for many hikes in Sedona in general though).

Yelp
Love love loved Sedona. The vortexes were beautiful. Even driving through the park was astounding. I definitely suggest getting out early and hiking before all of the instagrammers and wedding photos start to block the walk ways. If you can pick a good dark spot to watch the sunset and stargaze, the experience will change your life.

Yelp
On my last trip to AZ I didn't get a chance to visit Sedona because I spent an extra day at the Grand Canyon; well, I was gonna remedy that today. The first thing you want to do before going hiking at Red Rock is to stop by the Ranger Station off Highway 179 on your way into town. There you can pick up supplies, maps, watch a video of the area and -most importantly- pick up hiking passes for the day or week. You can also have a one-on-one discussion with one of the friendly docents that works there and they'll help you select the perfect hike for your skill level and length of stay. Once you've done all that (should take less than 20-minutes) you can head out for a wonderful adventure! Since we had my 3-year-old with us we found some terrific easy hikes that also had some spectacular views. Hike 1: Crescent Moon Picnic Area (aka Red Rock Crossing) Parking- There's a $10 fee to park in the AC lot which has lots of parking spots. Restrooms & Amenities- There's several restrooms that are quite disgusting because they're literally holes in the ground with a toilet on top. There's also lots of Picnic tables with BBQs on-site. Trails- The trails are all dirt except for the bit in the parking lot that's concrete. I guess normally you can also cross Oak Creek at certain spots on Buddha Beach but the water level was too high when we went. Scenery- Magnificent scenery and views of Cathedral Rock combined with the flowing waters of Oak Creek. This is also a location for one of Sedona's infamous Vortexs. I personally didn't get anything out of it but it's hard to focus while caring for a precocious 3-year-old. Difficulty- Super easy hike--maybe the easiest place I've ever done. I'd rate it at a 1 for both adults and children. Hike Number 2: Trail 66 Soldier Pass Parking- Small dirt lot that only holds maybe 13 cars (assuming everyone parks correctly!) We had to wait around for 20-minutes before a spot freed up. I'd recommend getting here early or just being patient because it's worth the wait. Restrooms- There's a Bush and a Tree over there--have fun. Trails- They can range from a bit rough and steep to smooth and easy-peasy. Scenery- Only did about 2 miles of this trail but saw two incredible Sedona sights: The Devil's Kitchen (world's largest sinkhole) and The Seven Sacred Pools. There's also fabulous views of all the surrounding mountains. Difficulty- Pretty easy hike overall; there's a few pretty steep spots every now and then but nothing terrible. My 3-year-old did the whole thing no sweat. I'd rate it at a 3 for adults and 5 for kids. These are just two of many wonderful trails that you can do here at Sedona's Red Rocks. The views and the atmosphere here are only paralleled by the Grand Canyon. I highly recommend everyone try and make it out here once in their life because it's truly majestic.
