Overall had a good first experience at Red Rooster. The food was all good, though nothing stood out as a "wow"; it's all what you expect it to be. With it being the same owner as the old restaurant (Portofinos), it seems to have many returning staff members who always have been friendly and professional.
The interior and exterior of the building were renovated and they did a beautiful job. The changes helped lighten the space and make it feel more vibrant and modern. It has a great bar that I could easily imagine being filled well into the evening.
The owners did a good job of making a section of the menu of Portofinos' classics for customers who might miss them, which is a nice.
I had the cheese curds which while I wish were a bit more melty/pull apart , but were still good. I also ordered the brussel sprouts which were good, but might be better if just lightly tossed with the fig sauce so that the duck and bacon sticks better. Lastly, I got the four cheese pizza which was delicious and just like Portofinos used to make.
It was a good first experience. While not busy at 3pm on a Saturday, which can put many new restaurants in a tough spot, I'd imagine with all their experience they will come up to speed quickly. Looking forward to going back again soon!
Also, they now except credit cards!!!
