The red rooster pub is a restaurant I have been visiting under different names since 1983! For many years, it was called Portofino and they were famous for their pizzas and their chicken Parmesan. Red rooster has been around since 2019. They still make pizza for dining and takeout. And they kept the original chicken Parmesan from Portofino‘s, which is my absolute favorite chicken Parmesan anywhere in Fairfield County. I’ve been there a few times recently, and I love their wide variety of items. I love their tacos. They serve appetizers. Great nachos. They have a full bar with a variety of beers, wine, and spirits. In the nice weather, there is a cute outdoor area with umbrellas right on the tiny “river.” It’s a great place to have a quick lunch or a leisurely dinner and it’s great for special events. I took both my girls there for their high school graduations with a large group and everyone loved it. The only reason I did not give them five stars was because their music is always blasting And it makes it difficult to have conversations or to relax. Of course, when I have asked them to turn the music down they do. But I just wish some restaurants would be more cognizant of their decibel levels. I love red rooster pub and the location has been a restaurant for 40 years. Try it and I guarantee you will like it. You’re always welcome in Wilton, Connecticut!

We stopped in for an early dinner and found the place had a nice atmosphere and loved the decor. The food was fantastic, I tried the poutine appitizer and one of the burgers. They were both excellent and I will be back again!

Google
Great menu and super nice staff. Burgers are worth every calorie. Just hard deciding. Wish I had more time in town to explore more of the menu as it looks amazing.

Google
Crowded on a Sunday night in a sleepy town. Why? Because the food is delicious. Get the Cobb Salad. Tell them Dave sent you.

Google
Excellent restaurant, exquisite pizza, attentive service, always smiling and aware of your order. Quick order. Redome.

Google
The food is absolutely amazing and the seating area is open and airy! Totally worth it! My son gave it a 10 out of 10 🤣

Really enjoyed our 1st time here. Service was great & food was very good. Cozy, warm atmosphere. Looking forward to going back in the warmer weather when we can eat outside. If you sit in the back of the restaurant there is a nice view of a wooded area & small river. Will be goign back!

Yelp
Sunday afternoon. Our party of five included two 90+ year olds on an escape from assisted living. Both had pizza which they enjoyed. One of us had Caesar salad and put a crab cake on top (she does that hack regularly). Another had a veggie sandwich. I had onion soup which was decent. The Rueben was not very good - fatty corned beef on soggy bread. Now comes the strange part. On the TV's when someone calls the restaurant their name and phone number come across the screen! When I brought it to the bartender's attention he said, "Its the cable company that does that...and besides this is Wilton so no one would do anything." Um yeah, wrong answer. Don't call in if you don't want your number across every tv in the place with your name! Server was good.

Yelp
This pub is a Wilton staple. It's nestled in a quiet little nook in Wilton town center right by Norwalk river. The ambiance is warm, rustic and inviting. It's cozy. There is a bar in the center and tvs scattered around the walls. It's not too noisy yet not too quiet. The service is great. The servers are attentive and the food comes out reasonably quick. My husband and I both ordered burgers and we tore into them so quickly that I didn't get photos. The meat was cooked exactly as ordered, medium rare -flavorful and juicy. Mine had a fried egg over easy, bacon and cheddar on a toasted bun. It was amazing. My husband ordered the "Ripper" burger which was HUGE. He was stuffed and said it was delicious. They came with a choice of sides- fries, sweet potato fries or onion rings. Also delicious. This was not my first visit to Red Rooster Pub and it certainly won't be my last. Give it a try! There's another location in Ridgefield if that's closer for you, but I love the location of the Wilton one by the river.

Craig C.

Yelp
Very nice pub environment with an outdoor courtyard. The food is excellent pub food. Varied and well cooked. Service was also excellent. A great spot.

Mick B.

Yelp
Don't order the mushroom ravioli. $24 for 5 ravioli. What a ripoff. It is Just basic pub food.

Sharon W.

Yelp
This place should be embarrassed the food they serve. I had a fish sandwich it was a frozen cod & salmon it was so disgusting. I felt so sick after I shared the meal with someone and they couldn't even stomach it. We just got to the seats and the bartender comes over for our order, I said, can we have menus, and a glass of water. She looked at us like we were crazy. We also ordered chips and guacamole and that was bad. The gauc was like soup. I can go on and on but I will never step in this place again! Asking for a star rating it doesn't even deserve one.

Dan K.

Yelp
4 of us ate here last night, Super Bowl Sunday...empty, quiet even with big TV's going. Food was very good. Finicky wife said caesar with salmon best she'd had...she's had many. Pizza very good, as were wings, onion soup and a sandwich with fries....we were all pleased and surprised. I wish the waitress had not referred to the table as "We". As in, "Are we ready to order.?"

Kim M.

Yelp
Have been here a couple of times, always ordering a variety of dishes to be shared by the group. Pizza, nachos, shishitos, salads, etc. It's a cute prob higher end pub vibe with a menu offering a good assortment of typical pub fare but overall nothing special.

Letsbefair ..

Yelp
We used to order regularly when was called Portofino. Pizza was good and so other dishes. Being there few times over the last year, and each time was a disappointment. Pizzas are no no longer the same quality as they used to be, and the food is very bland.

Maddie D.

Yelp
Delicious food and wonderful menu!! Hard to decide what to get every time. Had the southwestern chicken wrap and it was to DIE for!! I have had the buffalo chicken wrap from there before also, very tasty. About a year ago I went and had a delicious spinach artichoke dip, but was disappointed to see it was no longer on the menu. I really hope they bring it back! Regardless everything else on the menu is delicious too, was not that devastated. Ample parking is available free and right outside the restaurant.

Jackie S.

Yelp
I'm not sure how this place is in business. Basic bar food- I ordered the impossible burger... honestly Duchess does it better!...OK drinks- terrible music... unenthusiastic wait staff. Depressing ambiance. There are much better places to eat and gather.

Randy R.

Yelp
We ordered three take away items, one of the entrees was completely wrong. I called back and Cindy, who answered, said the manager was busy but would call back later in the evening to help facilitate a resolution, or next day at the latest. It's been three days. Oh well.

Josh F.

Yelp
Points for decor and menu creation, but execution of food and service is terrible. Have been a variety of times and like others say there is something off. On paper and appearance it should be a winner. I ordered fish and chips and it was literally 2 frozen triangular fish sticks and fries. No beer no batter at $22.50. My child's chicken fingers had 5 pieces for $10. Salads watery. Pastas overcooked. Sorry to say it is airplane food. Points for kids meals. Come here for tvs, friendly hostesses, chicken fingers and cheese pizzas.

Steven F.

Yelp
I had dinner at the Red Rooster Pub this past week. I paid by my credit card and added a nominal tip. When I received the update of the tip added, the server added an additional $50.00 to the check. I called and spoke with the owner who did not want to speak with me. He immediately handed me off to the manager. I had to complain to my bank who fixed the charge. I would not suggest eating here . The staff is rude and they clearly did not care what happened!!

Lourdes E.

Yelp
This is a good spot- better food than the one in Ridgefield. Had a great martini and some good appetizers here- the short rib empanadas are sooo

Dw M.

Yelp
Welcome to Red Rip-off The price point is up to a 4 star restauran. 22.00 for a Ruben or burger lol it's not that good. Time for a new Hen. Very sad that RRP has to over charge RIP

Tom S.

Yelp
I ordered a pizza and waited at the bar as it wasn't ready. Our last pizza was pretty awful but gave them another shot. I ordered a Grey Goose martini up and put down a $20. A smallish glass was served and the bartender gave me $3 back. I asked him if Grey Goose was premium priced. No he says, the price on all vodka up drinks has now been raised to $17! Add In the $22 Pizza and tips it cost me $45. Totally not worth it. Never again!!!

Yelp
Post Covid I came to Red Rooster in Wilton for a family dinner. That experience was mediocre but I put it behind me thinking they were just getting settled back into their routine. The next time I returned, I had fish. The serving consisted of two pieces of fish. I finished one piece and asked to have the other piece put in it container to take home. They smiled and went off to the kitchen with my remaining piece of fish. A few minutes later, they returned, and laughing said they dropped the fish on the floor so they threw it out. I guess I lacked their sense of humor that night. I smiled back and said that's fine. I will pay for half of the order of fish. They made it clear they were displayed at my lack of understanding that they dropped my fish on the floor, but agreed to prepare another piece to take home. The striking piece of all this was their unpleasant begrudging attitude. Despite their attitude, I took it on on faith they had not just gone back to the kitchen and pulled the second piece of fish out of the trash and Threw it in a box. Attitude is everything, and I decided to blame management and leave my normal, reasonably generous tip for the waitress involved. Note taken... in a service business attitude is everything.

Juan C.

Yelp
Nice place to come in with the family for lunch or dinner. Located on Center Street, they offer American fare. Try the French Dip, it was good, as was their flat breads. Good drinks. Give it a try.

Max F.

Yelp
Overall had a good first experience at Red Rooster. The food was all good, though nothing stood out as a "wow"; it's all what you expect it to be. With it being the same owner as the old restaurant (Portofinos), it seems to have many returning staff members who always have been friendly and professional. The interior and exterior of the building were renovated and they did a beautiful job. The changes helped lighten the space and make it feel more vibrant and modern. It has a great bar that I could easily imagine being filled well into the evening. The owners did a good job of making a section of the menu of Portofinos' classics for customers who might miss them, which is a nice. I had the cheese curds which while I wish were a bit more melty/pull apart , but were still good. I also ordered the brussel sprouts which were good, but might be better if just lightly tossed with the fig sauce so that the duck and bacon sticks better. Lastly, I got the four cheese pizza which was delicious and just like Portofinos used to make. It was a good first experience. While not busy at 3pm on a Saturday, which can put many new restaurants in a tough spot, I'd imagine with all their experience they will come up to speed quickly. Looking forward to going back again soon! Also, they now except credit cards!!!

Susan K.

Yelp
New menu (with some Portofino favorites), renovated, brighter interior, same servers. Nice quiet spot to meet for lunch on a Saturday. As before (Portofino c. 1988), many seating options, including shady riverside patio.

Christine S.

Yelp
We've ordered take out here a few times. The pizza is ok as are the sandwiches. The steak tacos were terrible and ended up in the garbage. Only small bits of steak - what you would discard if you were eating a filet - and no flavor whatsoever. We will go somewhere else next time.

Christopher K.

Yelp
Delivery menu on Uber Eats doesn't allow alterations/substitutions. Called the restaurant and requested No Mayo on my sandwich but it was still lathered in Mayo. If management made an easy fix and allowed alterations on the online delivery interface, this would be a 5 star experience.

Gayle C.

Yelp
Second time at this restaurant and both times a complete disappointment. Ordered the grilled vegetable sandwich and the bread was toasted to the point it dried out the bread and no char marks (it was totally white) - asked to have the bread grilled and they said they don't have a grill - then how did they grill the vegetables? Or did they...anyway the sandwich came out the same after a 15-20 minute wait by which time my husband had finished his meal - another sandwich that was good but very awful onion rings (how do you screw up onion rings?). I don't do a lot of reviews - but this was really disappointing and no care was taken for my requests - and yes, it's a pub - but for a $17 sandwich plus $2 to sub salad - that's close to $20 - should be good - right?

Rhonda P.

Yelp
Came here with friends for lunch last week. Service was good. Salads were delicious. Website lists a make-your own salad but we were not offered this option and it wasn't on menu. The only big disappointment was the poutine; pulled pork was not fresh. Suspect it was canned or frozen and old. Had I thought about it, I suspect/understand they aren't making fresh pulled pork every morning for lunch. Not sure how long they hold it out...but on this day, it was too long. Recommend ordering the poutine without pulled pork; would hope they would offer this option at a reduced cost. Not an inexpensive appetizer that went to waste...didn't wish to make a fuss while out with others but server didn't even say anything about full plate when clearing. I had only picked at the fries untouched by the pulled pork.

Dominic K.

Yelp
Awful experience. I took my elderly parents here for a meal with our family. We were a party of 8 and had called earlier in the day to book a table, but when we turned up they had no record of us. Mistakes happen, but the response from the manager was terrible - he told us that he doesn't deal with bookings, so it wasn't his problem! We had to stand at the bar (in everyone's way) for 45 minutes, and when we seated the service was average at best. We discovered why - for tables of 8 or more, the restaurant applies a mandatory 20% charge, so they were getting their tip whether we liked the meal and the service or not.

Richard M.

Yelp
Delicious menu across pub style offerings, burgers, sandwiches, pizza, main courses and traditional Italian. Everyone can find something terrific to eat. Full service bar with several TVs including a wide selection of cold drafts on tap! Enjoy

Ben V.

Yelp
I passed by and tried this new pub on center street in Wilton. I'm from Danbury but was coming back from Norwalk. I stopped by and sat at the bar. I was impressed what a interior design they have. Rustic look and very clean place. Bartender was so attentive kept coming back to make sure everything was ok. I had the crab cake appetizers and short rib empenada. Both fresh and delicious. They have nice dinning room and beautiful Patio by the river. Definitely will be back

Karena P.

Yelp
My family and I used to go to Portofino for 20 years and when it turned to Red Rooster I was a little disappointed. But there was no need to be...it's even better than before. Still great service, fun vibe and amazing food. Damir, the head bartender, is always upbeat and accommodating, and makes every customer feel welcome. Darkly lit with candles and cool music...a NYC atmosphere, while still following all of the Covid protocols.

Anna B.

Yelp
Bets food in this area 100%. Not a restaurant for casual clothing normal is jeans and "fancy" shirt. Service is great and awesome environment! Food is always consistently good! Highly suggest

Amy A.

Yelp
Had a very pleasant business dinner at Red Rooster with about 20 people. Atmosphere was nice but a bit noisy to visit due to acoustics and nothing to absorb sound. While the waiter was friendly, he could have been more helpful or suggested options from the menu. Wine bottles sat on the table but were only poured if we did so ourselves. A bit surprising from my perspective. Appetizers: the Brussels sprouts were excellent with great flavour! Calamari was fair - definitely the frozen rings which were sort of tough. Also had guacamole which was fine. Dinner portions were large but all seemed to enjoy. Salmon, French Dip sandwich, chicken Parmesan and a ravioli special were all said to be good. Presentation was average. The chocolate lava cake, lemon sorbet and raspberry sorbet desserts were all good. Good experience but would have liked to see more attentive waitstaff offering suggestions or service to the table.

Yelp
This is a place that Wilton wants to see succeed. We need some fun places. When they opened pre COVID many thought we finally had a place in town that would keep open a bit later. But there is a very weird streak of inattention and laziness. We've been there with a packed bar on a Thursday night around 9:00 and suddenly it's last call, with the doors locked and everyone ushered out before 9:30 or 10. Weekends not much better. Other nights a family of 5 walks in at 8:30 and no, sorry folks, kitchen just closed. They've served us warm beers hoping we wouldn't notice, and when someone inevitably did, Oh yah the fridge is broken. (Everyone gets that. But how about don't serve warm beer hoping your customers are too dumb or meek to bother saying anything?) Their food can be good, but it's now getting overpriced to say nothing of the cocktails and then your usually ok chicken wrap comes back as a boiled, flavorless chicken blob. Some wait staff and bartenders are friendly enough. Others are surly and seem to wish you'd just leave. For a place with a lot of potential it's become a gigantic disappointment. Great renovation before COVID. Nice setup with big TVs with sports on. There is a great, horseshoe bar when it's in use.

Kathy E.

Yelp
As a fan of the former Portofino's, I was glad to see they kept some of the old menu items. The waitstaff is mostly the same, experienced and welcoming. They also have their very nice patio for dining and I like the updated decor. And they now take credit cards. All good! The only disappointment was that they no longer serve bread. They used to have the best bread ever!! And now there is nothing. How do you get an Italian meal with no bread?? What can you use to sop up the sauce? And a refreshing luncheon salad without bread on the side? They even put bread plates on the table ... but when asked they tell you there is no bread of any kind to be had. It is a BYOR place now ... Next time I'm bringing my own rolls. I gave it four instead of five stars because of the bread situation.

Haiku D.

Yelp
One of my worst meals for sure. Service was good but she didn't even blink we asked for a check and our 4 plates were full on uneaten food. I don't know whether to pity the ones who enjoyed this restaurant or be happy for them as their culinary experiences in life can only improve. I had turkey burger which was bitter and coated with brie, I could barely get 2 bites down. My daughter declined beef sliders which were cooked ok but devoid of any flavor. Salt/pepper can't be that hard to add. Juices were watered down and kids mac and cheese was macaroni in cheese soup, completely liquid. Unique take... Will not be back. Ugh.

Maria R.

Yelp
First visit here! We really enjoyed all the food and the restaurant was very accommodating as we had our 15 month old with us. The place is very clean, very diverse menu and drink selection. Great atmosphere and parking was easy. One really is gave 4 stars vs 5 is because the service was pretty slow. Granted it was busy, however, we had to wave down another server/our own to order more drinks and take our order. Overall though, we'll definitely be back.

Jennine L.

Yelp
Disappointed customer service; poor to say the least! Server did nothing to rectify an overcooked pizza if you are looking for "even customer half right "do not go! I believe in small business and wish to support in any way to all members of staff but this was truly a disappointing experience. Work nearby and was also hopeful to spread the word for holiday parties including my own based on tonight will look elsewhere in the area where customers feel valued!

Heidi N.

Yelp
We had a very nice brunch at Red Rooster last weekend. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and everyone enjoyed their meal. Bloody Mary's were good too!

George C.

Yelp
Indifferent service and the food is just adequate. Have to admit we didn't try any of the holdovers from Portofino, which they advertise heavily. There are better, cheaper comfort food restaurants in New Canaan and Wilton, so I doubt we will be back here.

Caroline S.

Yelp
been here twice because I thought I would give it another shot after the first time. The pizza is clearly frozen and tasted like it. Burgers and sandwiches were mediocre. My mother asked for her salad to be gluten free, and was given croutons. The wait staff was also very poorly trained. Our waitress came over to take our orders not once but twice within the first 5 minutes of sitting down, when we were clearly still deciding. Then before everyone had finished eating, our plates were cleared from the table. One person was left with a fork in hand. To put the icing on the cake, the air conditioner was dripping on us throughout dinner. Definitely will not be returning.

Hollie M.

Yelp
We wanted to try a new place and support local but they make you come into the restaurant to get your food and wait in line. (Not curbside) The person at the register did not have a mask on. They had fox news on the tv, so we know what they think of this pandemic. After all that the pizza is mediocre. We will go back to our regular pizza place.

N. E.

Yelp
Excellent food! Two thumbs up or 5 stars in this case. Casual dining with beautiful views. Clean and modern ambience.

Pete K.

Yelp
A first visit with a local Wilton friend: a disappointment that does not require a return visit. The wait staff was friendly but not necessarily knowledgeable. The IPA the waiter recommended from the drafts available was just OK, in an area that has many good, locally brewed beers. The Reuben sandwich was skimpy in the corned beef, and it was fatty and a little grisly, although the flavors were good. Red Rooster's Fairfield County competition does a lot better!

C G.

Yelp
Great new Pub in Wilton Town Center. The owner of Portofino's decided that it was time for a change... After two months of extensive renovations he re-opened last Friday with a new name and new look! There is a whole new menu which offers quite an assortment of dishes. We have tried the Poutine which was delicious as was the short rib sandwich. Outstanding, for brunch, is the Wake and Bake Pizza which has bacon, sausage, spinach, 3 eggs, caramelized onions & mushrooms- YUM! We are happy that the menu includes some of the old Portofino's specials! The Paglio e Fieno was superb as always. Very efficient and friendly service rounds out the enjoyable dining experience!

Lourdes E.

Yelp
This place has a nice outdoor patio and we went during off hours so no issue with getting a table. They are well spaced and are in the shade or have an umbrella. Our waitress was very nice and the drinks were good but the calamari tasted as though it had been reheated. It had no crunch to it and was very rubbery. Will not order this here again. Other stuff was ok.. not great. Think I will stick to pizza next time.

L. N.

Yelp
Appetizers and Pizza are delish - pasta dishes adventurous. Good for families and large groups. Nice pub/sports bar atmosphere on one side and casual restaurant on the other.

John D.

Yelp
Food is average at best and the wine prices are crazy marked up for a place of this caliber(use Simi Chardonnay as a benchmark). Our server was very good and apologetic but cant blame him for mediocrity. I guess the change from Portofino's was the opportunity to lower their standards.

Jim C.

Yelp
They just don't seem to care very much. On our 3 visits to this pub, there were always several things wrong. And the servers don't do much to see that you are happy with your food. At one visit, the French onion soup was cold, and at two others, the burgers were dry and tasteless. At our last visit, the chicken wings were over cooked and dry, and the gin and tonics had precious little gin. On the other hand, the chicken Mirabella was tender and juicy. But the menu still has the same 4 spelling errors it had on opening weekend. We told the waiter, and he said they'd probably fix it when they changed the menu. That says a lot.

Alexandra C.

Yelp
Went here for the first time today-- loved it! Great food, great atmosphere, and the menu was really diverse.

Kevin H.

Yelp
We go for Pizza and Caeser Salad take out which is very good...Andy and Carllitos are great...only thing was that last week the owner was reprimanding a waiter right in front of me without acknowledging my presence....not a good client interaction
