Awesome little breakfast spot. Super casual, always great food, and the case is always filled with amazing goodies!!!

Love this place. 1st time experience and it was great. There were only 2 waitresses and they nailed service, quick and straight to the point. I definitely recommend their fish and chips. Big portions, enough to share among 2 people. The fries are the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly seasoned and the crispy exterior that most diners get with home fries. If you’re not in the mood for fish and chips, definitely add fries to any meal.

Excellent breakfast and brunch place. It is small, but it makes sense for a local spot in a small town. I've eaten here several times now and I am yet to be dissapointed. This time I had the French Toast special 😋 french toast was moist, stuffed with apples and topped with whipped cream and spinkled with cinnamon. Got a side of bacon to offset the sweetness of the french toast. It was the perfect breakfasts. My friends had Western omelets that are their go to here for breakfast

What a great little find! Excellent breakfast sandwich, excellent coffee bar, excellent breakfast pastries. Can't wait to go back! The ladies working were crazy busy but still very friendly and helpful. The menu is full of things I want to come back and try. I ordered a sausage egg and cheese on everything bagel and it was so much better than the same thing at other places. Great job!

My friend and I came here for brunch on a Saturday. It was pretty busy and overall a decent experience. Parking is pretty tight, but we found a spot pretty quickly. Once walking in, it is a very small area, kind of like a slightly wide hallway in the shape of a U. The counter to order is right in front of the door and there were a bunch of people waiting around the area, but no distinct line. We ordered at the counter, but I think you can order at a table too if you want? While waiting for a table, I poured my own hot coffee around the corner to the right of the ordering counter. This was right across from the pastry/dessert case. Coffee was pretty good. To the left of the ordering counter are the tables to sit at and each has a number. We found an open one and sat down, letting the waitstaff, who are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, know which number was at our table. (I assume that is how they know where to bring the food.) We did wait quite a while for our food and at some point the waitstaff came over to ask us what we had ordered. We got the fig-eta 'bout it panini and the aqua bowl smoothie bowl. They were delicious. My friend absolutely loves this place.

I absolutely love this place! A little hidden gem, food is always excellent and forget about the melt in your mouth sweet baked goodness. Hard to not order one of everything. The staff are exceptional to say the least, always attentive and kind. Regardless of how busy it is there, quality of service or food is NEVER sacrificed. I only wish they were open later so I can order dinner from there in addition to breakfast and lunch! Thank you all for being great!

Our first visit although we have been wanting to go for years but live a couple towns away. We ordered Biscuits & Gravy and an everything bagel with cream cheese. Both came quickly and were sizeable and tasty. They have a selection of coffees. Our choice, the dark roast was very good. Service was friendly. Restaurant was clean and bright. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Many customers walk here from the surrounding area. There seems to be ample parking. Can't wait to go back to try lunch.

Food lacked a little flavor, coffee was somewhat of the generic gas station product but the portions, service and atmosphere made the experience better. Our server, Ashley was awesome!!! Also, I had the opportunity to customize my own burger. 🙌🏾

Wow! I've lived in the area for many years and never knew this place existed. Am I glad I found it! We had an amazing breakfast here! Our omelets were large and tasty- all the ingredients were fresh and delicious. The home fries were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside- just the way I like them. Service was excellent too! Definitely will be back!

Oh this is one of our favorite places for breakfast and lunch! Fantastic bakery, good food all around. You can't go wrong here. Seating is a little tight, but worth it.

We stopped into Red Rose Cafe over the weekend after a hike. They had a steady stream of people in and out: you can sit down and order, or be waited on at a table. The service is super friendly. My husband really enjoyed the coffee. We split an egg plate- actually, they split the plate for us, which was really nice! They have gluten free bread as well, and one gluten free pastry in the case. Price point is good. Great place to stop in for a quick bite!

We stopped in here after a day in eastern CT and were shocked to find this small little diner had a HUGE deli case of treats and a full breakfast menu! They offer tons of coffee flavor options and even have gluten free toast! The place was a little cramped, but the staff were so kind and sweet and fun to interact with! They do have a limited offering of gluten free treats as well (when we were there a monster cookie with nuts and chocolate in it!)

Red Rose Cafe is small cafe and bakery that opened in Colchester, Connecticut in 2016. It was founded by Jackie Sirois. The establishment serves a large variety of breakfast and lunch items as well as delicious baked goods. Some of the menu specialties include pancakes, waffles, egg dishes, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, smoothie bowls, paninis, burgers, and salads. My wife, son and I recently dined at Red Rose Cafe while we were staying in the area. We had rented out a lake house in nearby Hebron for the long Presidents' Day weekend. We stopped there for breakfast on our last morning in the area. The friendly staff were able to accommodate us right away. To drink, my wife and I both ordered glasses of orange juice, I had some coffee, and our son had milk. To eat, I ordered the "Dirty Bird" Omelet (chicken, peppers, mozzarella, spinach, pesto) with a side of Home Fries, English Muffin, and House Made Corned Beef Hash. My wife ordered the "Hunter's Breakfast" (two eggs, sausage, home fries, English muffin, two pancakes) and our son had the "Egg Plate" (two eggs, bacon, home fries, toast). Everything was delicious! This was one hearty breakfast experience! We would definitely come back!

I enjoyed everything about this spot. Loved our server, loved the food and the desserts! If you don't like small mom n pop type places that have a constant influx of people then this is probably an order togo post for you. Otherwise it was cute and Id do it again!

The Red Rose Cafe was recommended to me by my uncle, and considering he lives in mid-New Jersey, it stood out. Red Rose Cafe is located off the main street towards the rail road tracks. There is parking on the side of the building and outdoor seating in the front. The menu has something for everyone for breakfast and lunch. It's written delightfully on the board behind the register, although you can get a copy to read as well. There are tables making a U shape around the kitchen, including a side room that steps down. There is also a single bathroom in the back. The chocolate milkshake was refreshing on a hot day. It came in a classic cup with whipped cream. The eggs Benedict with corned beef hash was very good, although the hollandaise was a little sweeter than expected. The home fries were crispy and well seasoned. Then when you're done with your meal.... there are the baked goods. They have so many varieties and flavors, from chocolate to lemon to a chocolate chip cookie lava cake. (That, btw, was delicious when heated for about twenty seconds) I've thanked my uncle for his recommendation, this was a great experience! The servers were also very friendly and informative, as was the owner who was working and available at a table.

We had a great breakfast at Red Rose! Very friendly staff and the portions were perfect. The bacon was crisp and delicious. We will be back!

Stopped in for breakfast with my daughter. They have a small bakery inside plus a restaurant. I got the 2 eggs over easy with bacon and home fries. Was really very good. My daughter got the gluten free egg sandwich which was very good. My1st time here. Will definitely be back. If you're in the area definitely stop in.

This is a cute little spot nestled in a house right out of the Main Street area of Colchester. It's a very cozy spot and it's very clean and well kept. There were two young ladies working the counter/kitchen and they were very kind and helpful. I went in on a Sunday morning and it was pretty busy- and I can see why. The only downside is I didn't have to wait a little bit for my sandwich. I got a Yankee doodle coffee and a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel. I only wish I had been a little more toasted, but besides that it was absolutely delicious. I only ate half so that I could save the other half for lunch because I wanted to savor the flavor. All of their other sandwiches and meals look absolutely delicious and I can't wait to come back and try their lunch! This is a definite must.

There are wonderful people in the world who say things like "I've got a soft spot for [insert underdog category]." You know who I have a soft spot for? Places with 5 Star Yelp Ratings. I'm no hero! Five Stars are my jam! I noticed a while ago that Colchester's Red Rose Cafe has a 5 Star Rating. When my 9 y.o. son suggested at 6:30 am on Sunday that we try a new bakery, I knew just the one. And Yelp told me they were open that early. Red Rose Cafe is not just a bakery, although they do have lovely desserts and pastries. They'll make you breakfast like an Italian sausage and peppers omelette, pumpkin pancakes, a benny breakfast sandwich or apple pie French toast. They'll make you lunch, like a house meatloaf sandwich, a pretzel roll crispy chicken sandwich with beer cheese sauce or a Buddha Bowl with your protein choice, veggies, rice and a honey balsamic dressing. I'll be back for some of that. Red Rose has cute inside/outside seating. Service was exceptionally friendly. My son and I ordered breakfast for a very early visit to nearby Day Pond State Park. With the sun climbing the trees, sparkling the pond and spotlighting the oranges, yellows and reds of CT Fall Foliage Season, it was simply gorgeous. We had the park to ourselves that early! Highly recommend! My bacon, egg and cheese croissant was top notch. You won't get a much better croissant for a CT breakfast sandwich. The sandwich had a good amount of tasty, crispy bacon. The egg was well grilled. The yolk wasn't quite fully set, which I like. I want to see that yolk shine! I chose pepper jack cheese for a pace change. It was well melted and provided a slight punch. For home sharing, I also ordered: an individual strawberry cheesecake with a bright red, oozy, strawberry splashed glaze; a long, icing striped cinnamon roll; a chocolate cookie; and a peanut butter M&M brownie. I slivered off a couple of dessert bites when I got home. The cheesecake was beautiful and delicious. The cinnamon roll was very fresh and good sweet with moderated brown sugar and cinnamon flavors. Red Rose's Five Stars are well earned. With Red Rose's high quality food, great options and outside seating, it's a great spot for families like ours.

Every time I go I enjoy my meal. I either get the hunters breakfast with corn beef hash and blueberry pancakes, an açaí bowl, their breakfast wrap and the berry smoothie, or the mozz sticks and the fig-e-ta bout it I believe it's called. 15/10. Their seating and set up is just comforting. The servers are all so sweet and fun to talk to. The pastries are to die for.

Stopped by on my way through CT to pick up a coffee. Noticed they had a pumpkin iced coffee, so I tried that. It was regular and there were plenty of sugary, flavored sweeteners out to add at the coffee bar. If I had time, I would have stayed to work at one of the nice tables by the windows of this tiny lil café. I tried such a fresh and scrumptious vegan cookie.

My boyfriend took me here for breakfast. It is very tasty & the portion sizes are pretty big! The staff was very friendly & very helpful with suggestions/recommendations. The pancakes were fluffy & delicious and we loved that we could customize our meals and coffees. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio. Very cute spot!

Everything here is literally so delicious. I've only been here twice but my friends and I have all tried different things each time and we all loved what we got and shared. Açaí bowls, sandwiches, fries, breakfast food, etc... all worth the drive I take to go here. The pastries are also delicious. I had the pistachio ricotta pie/cake and it was the best i've had.

You'd HAVE to be dying of Hungar to visit this place a second time. Over an hour wait to get my nearly empty sandwich. Hothouse unripened sliver of tomato with a sprinkle of balsamic vinegar layered with the shear thinnest almost slice of indistinguishable cheese I've ever tasted and very few weary basil leaves. But, I did enjoy a bit of the panini crust. When I complained regarding overly long wait~ it was suggested I take it and go. Customer service was nonexistent. $40.00 wasted, lesson learned. I wouldn't eat here again if they paid me.

Very friendly staff and a clean restaurant, however coffee was very weak, food was ok, home fries are just roasted potatoes. And long wait for food.

This is a wonderful breakfast bakery luncheon sandwich hot spot. The service is excellent, location is nice brightly sunny space. Parking lot a bit tight but the excellent baked goodies and sandwiches make up for it. You'll love it! Make your sweet tooth happy today

Small spot with very limited parking, but there is nothing I can say bad about my first visit here. Breakfast all day along with amazing looking sandwiches, panini and deserts. We had scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy and pancakes. Btw, their home fries are the absolute best! Their syrup is not Log Cabin, it's something much better and high end. Super thick. Service was also amazing! I will be going back even tho it's a bit of a hike. I'll probably check out the panini next time around.

Seeing the amazing reviews Stopped with a coworker on road trip for breakfast. He had a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel commented there bacon was that crisp but not crunchy level just where he likes it. Myself I had the sausage egg and cheese on a croissant. I have to say it had to of been on of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. Not that I want to hit the road again but when we do I think we know where breakfast is coming from.

The food, service, and atmosphere are the best! It was so great that I went back again today. The Parmesan truffle fries are beyond amazing! I had the Dirty Bird Panini, and it melted in my mouth. My son ordered the Mother Clucker and devoured it. We also had milkshakes that were made the old fashioned way and a strawberry and banana smoothie that were delicious. I loved the two front girls as well - they were so genuine and thorough. It was fast but very busy! All good signs! 5 Stars for a cafe/bistro!

Great service! Food was good too. I had the bagel breakfast sandwich and my husband had the hunter's breakfast and added meat. We got a ton of pastries to take home and even some artisan soap. The eating area itself and parking lot are on the small side but doable for two people. Will be eating here again.

This place is just cute as a button! I tried it for the first time in a hurry before my day. The food was amazing and came out super fast! You can sit down in the nice rooms or grab something to go. And the staff working were so nice and took great care of their customers! I just loved the home-y vibe and all the regulars that came in were so nice! I will definitely be back!

I love their desserts. A bit pricey, but worth it if you're in the area. They offer delivery through füd delivery, so if you'd rather stay home, the food can be brought to you. Their sandwiches are good, too. You won't be disappointed with the quality of their food

Amazing staff and food. We have had the best food experiences in Connecticut but this one surpassed expectations. We had the corned beef hash with eggs Benedict and on an egg sandwich and that was so delicious. We will definitely come back here.

Usually I have an okay experience here but this time I called ahead and they told me 20 mins so I waited 25 mins and walked over because it's so close to my house , but this time was different. I got there and paid for my order and tipped and just stood there waiting for another 20 mins and no one said anything to me until I said how long do you think it will be , and I was told they are just starting to work on it. Then said "we shouldn't have even tooken that order because we have a lot".... I work in the Resteraunt business and understand things happen and I GET THAT, but no one said anything to me until I spoke up and asked. I'm genuinely upset and hungry and I got in trouble for being late

I have never left a bad review, normally i just keep to myself but this place deserves the negativity. We decided to stop in on my birthday because we were in the area. What a mistake that was! The owner basically called my diet restrictions weird to my face when I asked for egg yolks only. I explained it was an intolerance but she wasn't having it! She said it was too expensive and no room in kitchen to separate the eggs, (Mind you they will sell you egg whites). My husband told her we would pay for the eggs and any extra needed to add filler. She said she wouldn't do it. Now I know why, the egg whites she offers are probably out of a carton. What is the difference of throwing the white and keeping the yolk if were paying the same amount. There isnt any so how can you say they are fresh?!? Sorry i dont eat chicken placenta. We will never go back and we will spread the word about this terrible establishment. Can't grow your buisness if you don't treat out of towers the same as your locals!!!! ​

This was our first time visiting and we'll definitely be back! Cozy cafe with super friendly staff and great food. We were pleasantly surprised to find they serve all day breakfast. I'm always on the hunt for fresh corn beef hash and I frequently get disappointed when a restaurant serves canned mush. Not here! They lived up to their word on the menu and it's truly house made fresh corn beef hash. The assorted baked pastries looked amazing too but we had leftovers from breakfast so we'll have to try those next time. They definitely live up to the 5 star ratings!

I was in town from California visiting my little sister and she recommend the Red Rose Desserts for lunch. I'm going to start this off with what's important first off it was a delicious lunch! I had a cup of the soup of the day and haft of a sandwich called the Dirty Bird with a ginger cookie for the road wow I love this place!! Delicious!!!!! Thank you Amanda for explaining the menu and being so friendly. My only mistake was only ordering the half sandwich not the whole one so next time whole sandwich and I am looking forward to trying the tuna. Thanks you again to the whole crew at Red Rose Desserts.

Update 1/17/18: Went back yesterday ! Tried the bobcat panini.. amazing. The girls working were so kind and polite and patient as I picked something new! Fast service again! LOVE this place! I've been looking for a new cute cafe so we went here for lunch. I was greeted immediately and the girl behind the counter pointed out specials to us and was talking us through the paninis. I ordered the Big Blue panini with a coffee and my husband chose the Catch of the day. They were both fantastic! The catch of the day was an elevated tuna melt and it was cheesy and fresh. The roast beef on my big blue was perfect quality. I wish I could have tasted the Gorgonzola cheese a little more but the flavor was amazing. The coffee bar was unique in that there were several flavored syrups that didn't taste artificial. I chose a chocolate banana hazelnut mix. They were sugar free so I didn't need to worry about it being to sweet. We did not get a dessert. They had half a case to choose from but after the panini and coffee we were too full to eat more! We will be back!

This place is the bomb! Breakfast they have it going on. Small place so call ahead to order if you don't want to wait. Frittata was one of the best I ever had. The Acai Bowl was phenomenal... Will be back to try lunch. Very clean.

Went with my wife for lunch. Sandwiches were delicious. Only complaint was the wait time was a bit long.
