Delicious food, excellent service. The menu has a bit of everything, great variety, very seafood forward. Everything we had was delicious. The service was very friendly, professional, and helpful from the valets to the hostess to the server (Jo was excellent). The restaurant space isn’t great. It’s very loud (bad acoustics - there were some VERY loud people at the bar and it reverberated throughout); the seating isn’t very comfortable; it was hot and stuffy; and the view is of the hotel’s pool bar and loungers, with a sliver of ocean in the distance. But the food and service make this restaurant a total must.

Wonderful and elegant meal at Red Salt. My spouse and I tried the chef's tasting menu (a honey and housemade ricotta cheese starter, then a seared Hokkaido scallop with beurre blanc, then mahi mahi, then rich flourless chocolate cake), with the wine pairings and were not disappointed! Everthing was beautifully plated, perfect portions, and delicious, and the wine pairing complimented very nicely. Another of us got the blue crab crushed Monchong (fish), and my kid got a slider off the keiki menu which they loved. This was our first time back in several years, we were happy we returned! Only thing we missed was the red salt on the table and bread to start that we had enjoyed in years past. Still very worth the experience!

Everyone here is very sweet and they love to tell you about this side of the island. The food was fantastic! I tried the tasting menu and my wife ordered the bisque and an entree. We both loved our food. We will be back!

I had the most lovely dining experience here. I'm here celebrating my birthday and chose Red Salt as my "treat yourself meal." It is spendy, but an absolutely perfect experience. My server Ashley was a delight and very polite. I had the grilled pear salad and the lobster gnocchi with a faux-hito. The food was spectacular! Ashley even brought me a tasty treat with a candle for my birthday. 10/10 would dine here again. I made reservations a week ahead of time.

Google
Can confidently put Red Salt in our Top 5 restaurant dines ever. The food is absolutely amazing. Noah, our server, was absolutely perfect on the recommendations and a blast to chat with. Still thinking about the honey ricotta and seared Ahi Tuna steak.

Food here was good but was quite expensive. Sushi was just basic Salmon but was good, and the mashed potatoes were nice and smooth. The dessert was very delicious and sweet. Breakfast was good but the waffle was a basic waffle with fruit.

We stayed at Koa Kea Resort and came here for both breakfast and dinner. For dinner, it’s best to make a reservation in advance. We walked in and waited to get a table. Breakfast was really enjoyable. I had the acai bowl and it was fresh and tasty. For dinner, we ordered the ribeye steak and the lobster burger. The ribeye was huge and definitely worth the price. The lobster burger was delicious and packed with flavor. It had lobster, meat, bacon, and even a slice of pineapple underneath that surprisingly worked really well together. There aren’t many dining options in the area, so this place is one of the better choices, though prices are on the higher side. I highly recommend trying the Poipu Paradise cocktail, it was amazing. The service wasn’t the best, but it was still fine overall.

Google
This place is absolutely divine! My husband got the lobster burger, said it’s the best he’s ever had! My favorite was the lavender mint lemonade and the chefs ricotta with warm na’an bread! Service was great from start (welcoming of the receptionist) to our waiter! Truly best choice for our last evening in Kauai!🥲

Yelp
Great portion sizes and taste! Service is great as well. Marlina is so kind and friendly! No complaints here!

Yelp
Great food, have Becca be your waitress. Breakfast is the best on the Island, Richard Moreno June 17, 2025 We went back the following day and had Marlina serve us. Fabulous

Grace W.

Yelp
Every day at Red Salt was a great experience. We had Becca every morning for breakfast and she never disappointed to make us smile and deliver us amazing service. The dinner at Red Salt was also amazing, great drinks and the gnocchi was to die for!

Yelp
We ended up at Red Salt because we wanted a nice dinner out and the Rumfire was closed for a luau. Came in without a dinner reservation but were seated at a table in less than 10 minutes. The hostess was very friendly and the server came and took our drink orders quickly. Here's where it got good: drinks were amazing. Ordered Caesar and the grilled pear salads for starters, both which were delicious. Our server was really great, I don't remember her name but she had great tattoos and rings. We took the severs recommendation on a few sushi rolls. We travel all over the world and have eaten at some very nice restaurants. We have had great sushi before but...wow! These rolls were literally the best we've ever had. You MUST try the Dynamite Roll!!! We had to order another even though we were pretty full just because we wanted to try it. Based on the drinks, appetizers, and sushi, we figured the desserts would have to be amazing as well so we ordered the Hawaiian bread pudding and the s'mores martini. Boom, sooo good! The girl bussing our table was super friendly, asking about every item we had ordered and seemed genuinely pleased that we were so happy with our meals. Yes it was expensive but not more than any other nice restaurant and like I said before, the service and food were well worth every penny! Will be recommending to everyone, and will try and come back before we head home. Well done, Red Salt!

Yelp
We stayed at Koa Kea Resort and came here for both breakfast and dinner. For dinner, definitely make a reservation, we walked in and waited to get a spot. Breakfast was great! I had the acai bowl and really enjoyed it. For dinner, we tried the ribeye steak and the lobster burger. The ribeye was massive and absolutely worth the price. The lobster burger was a standout, a bit pricey, and it came loaded with lobster, meat, bacon, and even a slice of pineapple that surprisingly tied it all together. There aren't many dining options in this area, so this spot is a solid choice, just be prepared for resort-level prices. The Poipu Paradise cocktail was a highlight super refreshing and highly recommended. Service could have been better, but it was still acceptable overall.

Yelp
I truly believe this was a five star dining experience. The food here is delicious and the drinks were fantastic. The fresh sushi is 110% fresh and I highly suggest trying at least one of their rolls or sashimi. We started out with the coconut and shrimp soup, which was very light and refreshing. I could've had multiple bowls of that soup. We also had several of the rolls that were in the $30 range. We could've just had rolls and soup and been happy. But, my husband decided to do the tasting menu - which consisted of a ricotta appetizer, Scallops, and then the mahi-mahi. The dessert was absolutely delicious, flourless chocolate cake paired with a delicious port. I had the ahi tuna and the crust was amazing. Our waiter Christian was phenomenal. We highly recommend sitting by the window and then enjoying a walk around the resort when you're finished. All the service members were very polite, friendly and seemed happy. Please note that anytime you want to park there you have to use the valet. Also, you absolutely need to make a reservation.

Yelp
We've been in Kauai for almost week and have been to several of the nice restaurants on the island and this was easily our favorite so far. You don't get the same insane views that beach house has, but the ambiance is nice and the food is just better. The wait staff was highly attentive and our server paired our wine with our meals perfectly. My wife said her ribeye was possibly the best steak she's ever had, and I enjoyed some local fish options. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Really great food here! There wasn't one thing that was off. The black and white sushi is killer with its back and white truffles integrated with the ahi tuna. I've never had anything like it and it's my new favorite sushi roll - and I've eaten in really decadent sushi places like Nobu in Malibu, CA. The service is pretty decent but the first time I went they forgot it was my birthday (technically it was the day before) but my other server made up for it the second time I went on my actual birthday. Something kind of funny was my gf didn't realize that the busser/hostess left a sopping wet towel on her chair! When she got up she had a big wet spot! Haha Other than that though, food came out timely. There's a nice ambiance with gently mechanical leaves that distribute air to you while you look over the pool. I would recommend and go there again.

Yelp
Incredible final dinner in Kauai at Red Salt. It's known for its inventive Hawaiian cuisine, superior service and upscale dining room with ocean views. We were fortunate to be served by Miranda, an eight-year veteran of the restaurant. She epitomizes the superior service provided at this restaurant. By the time our evening ended, my wife and I considered her a friend. As someone who has primarily drank Mai Tai's on this trip, tonight was an opportunity to get back to my go-to-cocktail at home: a Belvedere martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. At Red Salt, they shake the drink at your table, and the martini glass is huge. I had to try some Nigiri Ahi and it was sensational, as expected. I could see myself some day eating Ahi for every meal. For dinner, I ordered the Ahi Steak and it was perfectly seared and beautifully presented. Some chefs definitely know what lightly seared means, while others don't. My wife ordered the Prime Ribeye and it was awesome, with incredible flavor from its marbling. The best part was I got to eat half of it after my Ahi. We finished the evening with the decadent Bread Pudding. It was heavenly. If you're a foodie, Red Salt is definitely a place to dine at while in Poipu.

Yelp
Great food and great service. Becca is the best! Always has a smile on her face. Very helpful and knowledgeable.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. We had Andrea who was very sweet and patient with our 1 year old! We had the handcrafted pina colada and Mai tai, both great. We also got the foie (fancy!), house ricotta , and hamachi (yellowtail) crudo, all delicious appetizers, and they have a great kids "keiki" menu too. We got our kid the monchong, which he absolutely loved! And we got the mahi and a tuna roll, such a delicious mahi, beautifully prepared. My favorite dinner of our whole vacation in Kauai, and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for an elevated but not stuffy dining experience!

Yelp
Breakfast with our server Sage was an event! Our table of four enjoyed a leisurely meal with Mac nut lattes, seemingly bottomless mimosas (we ordered bottles and juice on the side), and tasty omelettes, Avocado toast, and the star of the table, the lemon pineapple soufflé pancakes. The pancakes were more like sweet meringue and we all shared. Spacious restaurant and can't wait to return for dinner before we leave.

Yelp
Red Salt was just okay. Especially if you're already staying at a resort with ocean views (or get there after dark). The Lobster Gnocchi was very good, and by far the best part of the meal. The fish was a tiny bit dry but still tasty. The Grilled Pear salad, however, was atrocious.. the pears still hard and weren't grilled, and the rosemary infusion they were soaked in tasted bitter and unpleasant. The rest of the ingredients just felt thrown together and not easy to eat. It's a nice "date night" meal out but I definitely wouldn't go solely for the quality of the food.

Yelp
This is one of the most expensive restaurants on the island. No matter how much you spend on dinner, you are still going to be hungry again the next day. But, having spent eight weeks on Kaua'i over the past three years, we decided that for once we should try Red Salt. We had a spicy tuna sushi roll, the homemade ricotta app, the vanilla bean mahi mahi, the crab-crusted monchong, and the bread pudding for dessert. The food was plated beautifully and delicious, the portions are on the small side. Did we enjoy the food? Yes, but we had more satisfying experiences at Break + Feast, JO-2, and RumFire. If you come from outside the resort, parking is valet only. I gave the guy a $5 tip to retrieve my car which took him about 60 sec, but he seemed disappointed. Sorry, guy, after spending $15 for a 12 oz. bottle of beer and over $300 for the rest of the meal, that's all I had left.

Yelp
Red Salt server Marlina consistently goes above and beyond in every way. She's not only attentive and efficient, but she also remembers our past orders--both food and drinks--which makes every visit feel personalized. Her service reflects true hospitality, exceeding expectations with thoughtful touches and a genuine care that makes us feel valued and welcomed every time. She makes us feel like ohana and worthy of a 5 star review.

Yelp
Amazing dinner, great staff. Dinner was fantastic. Lobster gnocchi moved into top 10 dishes. Enjoy

Yelp
We came to dinner for our anniversary and truly enjoyed the whole meal. Service was wonderful, ambiance was great, food was delicious!

Yelp
Back to Ko'a Kea again! Wanted to note that breakfast options here are amazing! All a bit pricey but the food quality and presentation are outstanding. Our server Becca wqs particularly helpful and friendly (she was also our server when we were hear a year ago!!). Finally, sitting next to the window looking out over the pool and ocean is a great way to start the day!
google avatar

Yelp
We had a yummy breakfast the last couple days of our stay. Sage was our first server, very friendly and good recommendations. Becca was our server on our last morning and again, very friendly, efficient and great recommendations. The lobster Benedict--yum!

Yelp
My wife and our friends had dinner here to celebrate our friend's daughter graduating from high school. Loved the food, I had the seared Ahi with risotto a side of mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus. Perfectly cooked and so delicious. Thank you for the memories and the food.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our dinner at red salt. The food was really tasty and the wait staff was great. My only gripe was that the sushi rolls were a little over priced. We paid quite a lot for dinner, it was good but it was a bit over priced for what we got.
google avatar

Yelp
Food and service were superb. Nayan was our waiter and took great care of us. He made great suggestions and helped us make our choices. The scallops were fantastic!

Yelp
Everything.... EVERYTHING went well! When you go to Red Salt, you expect fine dining. The finest dining possible is what we got. It was Valentine's Day and both of us were pretty stressed out and really wanted a relaxing evening. After being stuck in traffic for what seemed like forever, we walked into a calm, relaxed eating area, were greeted by an attentive host and seated shortly afterward (and given a red rose!). The ambiance was perfect. The table lighting was not some cheesy little tea light, but, very sleek and effective. We could read our menus and there wasn't so much noise in the room, even though it was at full capacity. I could hear my date without having to ask... what did you say? Noah was our waiter...and man... that dude was spot on!!! We ordered a bottle of wine, and not once did we need to top off our glass. He took care of that. We ordered the Valentine's Prefix for Two menu. Each course came out perfectly timed. Oysters, Lobster Dynamite, Filet and Lava Cake. Noah was attentive without being overly invasive. Not once did we feel forgotten nor did we feel like we were being rushed. It was a perfect balance. Highly recommend.

Dominic D.

Yelp
Great views, great service and great food. Walking distance to the turtles as well! Loved the experience and are especially thankful to Jacob (with the tattoos) who met our every need at the pool, and Jeff who catered to our room service needs. Highly recommend this place to others! Dom and Lisa

Yelp
Amazing restaurant! Top notch service from Noah and the restaurant manager, Angel. The food was amazing and the drinks were perfection! Sushi was fresh and the entrees were beyond tasty! We will be visiting here again.

Yelp
We spent a week on Kauai, and Red Salt stood out as one of the most expensive restaurants. Having gone to the major ones (Oasis, Keoki's, Plantation, and Hualanis) on the south side of the island, we could not figure it out, as we ordered less here than at other places, and our bill was at least 25% more. We sat indoors for a late-start dinner. (You won't see the ocean when it's dark out.) We had the scallops appetizer, monchong and lobster risotto and one drink. Our bill was over 220. To be clear, the food was plated beautifully and delicious. The lobster, in particular, was surprisingly excellent, but the portions were on the small side, as pointed out by other reviews.

Yelp
The food is always worth the wait even on a holiday. Make sure you make reservations prior to arriving. Drinks at the bar and a casual evening stroll are amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Outstanding food. Gracious and appreciative staff. Perfection in ambiance and comfort. We love eating here, from the Sushi bar to the breakfast selection of gourmet goodies and incredible dishes. One reason we keep coming back to the Koa K'ea resort is this restaurant on property. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Ellen D.

Yelp
Rebecca D. was our server at breakfast and gave us wonderful service! She also gave us really good advice about our trip to Napoli Coast. She went beyond the call of duty to make our experience memorable!
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Ko'a Kea and got to enjoy breakfast there each morning with our daily breakfast credit. Their food is of very high quality and they offer vegan options, which can be hard to find at breakfast. Great coffee, too. We often were served by Becca who was so lovely, professional and remembered all of our preferences. We look forward to going back!

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Breakfast at red salt was absolutely delicious! Everything we ordered was incredible but you must try the pineapple soufflé specialty dish. Our server Becca was awesome - so sweet and knowledgeable. We can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Yelp
Marlina was exceptional. Helpful, professional, especially with a 3 year old eater. Can't wait for another breakfast

Yelp
the type of service and ambiance you would expect from this type of place. employees were nice and the aesthetic was pleasing. the food was pretty good for the most part. additionally the surf and turf i had was amazing, highly suggest it. rate this place a 4.5/5

Yelp
Amazing. This place was a hit for us! Service was wonderful and the food and drinks did not disappoint. I tried the chef's tasting which was awesome... house made ricotta, scallops, and vanilla bean mahi mahi were all top tier. Mango marg was superb and mai tai was great too! Highly recommend! Not the most incredible water front setting or anything but the food makes up for it.
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
We hoped the experience would be better... the food was sub par at best.... We had better mahi mahi at Lava restaurant at Sheraton. Empty restaurant and we were sat in the back facing a wall. For over $700 for 5 people, save your time and money. We were very saddened by this experience.

Yelp
Breakfast was great. We called any they started the pancake soufflé which was fantastic. They accommodated our kids without difficulty. Nice restaurant and property and would go back for another breakfast/ brunch.

Yelp
We stayed at the charming, and very chill, Koa Kea resort. A definite draw was their on site restaurant , Red Salt. Each meal was not only delicious but thoughtfully presented. Of course, the ambience was perfect. When in Kauai, this restaurant is a must visit, whether you are on site or staying elsewhere. Enjoy!
google avatar

Chantel W.

Yelp
Food was great, portions were bigger than expected. Our server was attentive and yet gave us space to enjoy our anniversary dinner. Nice setting overlooking the beach side. Only thing is be prepared to spend some money.
google avatar

Will D.

Yelp
Marlina was a fantastic breakfast server. She was attended, friendly and had a great sense of humor. We could not have asked for a better breakfast experience. The resort is fantastic overall and our breakfast table being that we're right on Poipu Beach was fun watching the waves while we dined.

Yelp
We spent our Valentine's night at Red Salt in Kauai and loved every second. We went with the chefs tasting and were blown away by the quality of the ingredients, the technique in cooking and presentation of each plate. The service was prompt and friendly. With views of the Pacific and decor that highlights the Hawaiian feel without being kitchy, this is a must visit.

Yelp
Came here for a brunch before going back home to California. So sad feeling the Paradise. However I enjoyed my last dining in Kauai at this place. The food that i tried include the avocado toast, lobster Benedict and a very sweet half papaya! The coffee was so fresh and well made as well. Will return for lunch or dinner someday!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow perfect dinner ending for our trip to Kauai! The food was amazing - we tried the crab crusted mongchong, ahi steak (we had it medium), truffle fries. The sushi was amazing best I've ever had and coming from Chicago were used to really amazing sushi - must try the cane one. We also really enjoyed the desserts especially the lava cake, bread pudding (can get without the rum caramel if desired), and blood orange sorbet. It's definitely pricey but well worth the fact that they're one of the best dining restaurants on the island. Server was nice but seemed very rushed the whole time. We were an 8p reservation. She forgot to ask our table for last call for any sushi orders before the sushi bar closed down at 9p. We were one of her last tables and in taking our family pic she ended up cutting off one of my daughter's from the pic entirely which sadly I didn't notice until the next day. In the future won't come here for reservations 8p onwards to ensure we have a better experience.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience with Jeff who helped me with my specific breakfast order at the to go counter every morning of my trip. He was friendly and helpful and I really appreciate it. Thank you Jeff!

Yelp
Nice views of the sunset over the water on property. High end dining was the intention. For dinner it felt pricey based on the food that we received. My husband tried the $60 hamburger it was good but probably wouldn't get that again. All of the appetizers were deemed shareable for four but were on the small side. I would skip the ricotta app as it was not that special. Our server was lukewarm. The mahi mahi was good quality but over cooked, recommend ordering medium rare. Overall a decent place to eat but spendy.

Mark Q.

Yelp
This is our 13 or 14th stay at Ko'a Kea and eating at Red Salt... this trip included a lot of breakfasts, including Red Salt's in-room dining. As always the food and service were spot on. I want to give a special shout out to Jeff who does the AM service. Jeff was incredibly attentive and even remembered my name - despite so many customers each day. His service and concern that we had every thing we needed was absolutely remarkable. I hope all guests at Red Salt have an opportunity to meet Jeff. We'll be back to Red Salt again soon!

Yelp
Came here for dinner on our last night at the KOA resort as I like to call it. We did not have reservations which are necessary, but we got there early enough to sit at the bar, which is where the sushi is prepared. We had a sushi roll that 2 of us split which was amazing. There was 8 pieces in total. We also split a salad and the $60 lobster bacon pineapple burger. We ordered it medium, but it was a solid medium well. I like to give 5 stars but for the cost, it was between 3 and 4 stars. The ambience is really formal, but because you are on the garden island, you can pretty much wear anything, though I recommend going with at least a solid business casual. Service was good. It was good but not worth the cost, fortunately we split everything.

Yelp
We had a great breakfast at Red Salt on Friday. Our server, Jagger, was great. We will stop in again on a future trip to kauai.
