Ambiance- 5/5 Nice views and decor It can be a good spot for a romantic dinner Service -5/5 Attentive and friendly One server did drop utensils accidentally and food got on my mom’s dress but other than that it was great! We came for her birthday so they did a small birthday pizookie type thing which was nice Drinks: 4/5 I got the poipu paradise and it was delish. Tasted the Mai tai and pina colada as well. Both good. Mai tai at merrimans is way better. I got an espresso martini for dessert and it was 4/5. All the drinks are definitely overpriced but decent Food-5/5 We came a few years ago before pandemic and I think the food has gotten better Appetizers: Scallops: 5/5 perfectly cooked and flavors were great . So good we got a second order! Would definitely recommend! Foie gras: 5/5 I love foie gras and it’s a good version. Portion is small it’s good for 2 people Bone marrow:2/5 the only thing I was really disappointed in. Super small amount of bone marrow and lots of grilled onions or something on top that overpowered the flavor We would have gotten two orders had it been good. Bummer. Entree: 5/5 I got the local fish. It was tender and flavorful. Loved the side of mushrooms too. Tried my mom’s crispy Cornish game hen which was tender and very good!!! Haricot verts also cooked well

Delicious food, excellent service. The menu has a bit of everything, great variety, very seafood forward. Everything we had was delicious. The service was very friendly, professional, and helpful from the valets to the hostess to the server (Jo was excellent). The restaurant space isn’t great. It’s very loud (bad acoustics - there were some VERY loud people at the bar and it reverberated throughout); the seating isn’t very comfortable; it was hot and stuffy; and the view is of the hotel’s pool bar and loungers, with a sliver of ocean in the distance. But the food and service make this restaurant a total must.

When researching restaurants on Kauai for my honeymoon Red Salt consistently came up as one of the best restaurants on the island. My husband and I stayed at the Koa Kea but I did make a reservation for dinner well in advance to ensure we could get a table. Since it was a special occasion we went all out and ordered appetizers, salad, entrees and dessert. All of the food was incredibly delicious. The lobster gnocchi was a highlight for me alongside the freshness of the pear salad and my husband loved the sashimi he started with. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, checking in but also allowing us to take our time and fully enjoy the dining experience. I would happily return if back on Kauai!

We stayed at the resort for a week and were very satisfied with the delicious meals we ordered at Red Salt for breakfast, poolside lunch, and especially dinner! The desserts were tasty, too. I recommend the breakfast tacos, the short rib, sticky ribs and truffle fries!

Everyone here is very sweet and they love to tell you about this side of the island. The food was fantastic! I tried the tasting menu and my wife ordered the bisque and an entree. We both loved our food. We will be back!

Great restaurant in Poipu for both dinner and breakfast! We loved the food! And especially thanks to Debbie for showing her warm caring when she noticed I have an injured foot, suggesting us to get wheelchair at the airport.

I had the most lovely dining experience here. I'm here celebrating my birthday and chose Red Salt as my "treat yourself meal." It is spendy, but an absolutely perfect experience. My server Ashley was a delight and very polite. I had the grilled pear salad and the lobster gnocchi with a faux-hito. The food was spectacular! Ashley even brought me a tasty treat with a candle for my birthday. 10/10 would dine here again. I made reservations a week ahead of time.

The food at red salt from Breakfast, lunch, and dinner was exquisite. I was honestly really impressed with the serving sizes and the dish quality. This was the first time where I left extremely impressed and satisfied with resort culinary offerings. We ordered a myriad of dishes, for breakfast to go on our lanai: tacos and French toast. Very solid, it’s kind of pointless to leave the resort for breakfast when you have a solid breakfast offering as such. For lunch, sliders with truffle fries, which were satisfying and a delicious pairing. And for dinner (in which we had 2 dinners), I had a steak dinner that was cooked to perfection (of my liking) and my lady had a lobster gnocchi with big servings of lobster. I want to give a shot out to the exceptional service of Noah at Red Salt. I’ve been to countless restaurants but he has to be the most hospitable , meticilous, and courteous professional that I have EVER met to tie in the dining experience. Noah provided great recommendations and you can tell he takes great pride in his craft and loves what he does. He made our anniversary memorable and as a result we will always remember this wonderful place and Ko’a Kea resort. We will be back and make this a mainstay in our lifetime going forward.

Yelp
My second time dining here (husband and I stayed at Koa Kea six years ago for our honeymoon and returned for our anniversary) and it was just as delicious as I remembered! A beautiful space, great windows, and very friendly and welcoming service. My husband ordered wine (epic wine selection available) but I got one of the cocktails, the Koloa spritz and it was very delicious and refreshing. We had the housemade focaccia to start, very tasty and the perfect little loaf for two. John ordered the ahi which was delicious and I ordered the Kona lobster gnocchi, which is probably one of the most delicious meals I've had, ever. So. Good. For dessert, they surprised us a little cookie in a tiny cast iron skillet with ice cream and a "happy anniversary" chocolate, and we each ordered our own desserts- panna cotta and the passion fruit crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was amazing ! (John loved the panna cotta- I didn't try it because frankly I was too full haha) Our server, Mayan, was so nice and more than once asked us if we just wanted some time to relax and sit at our table, which we did. He also indulged our dorky request to take a picture of my husband and I. Can't wait to return on a future visit to the island!

Yelp
We stayed at Koa Kea Resort and came here for both breakfast and dinner. For dinner, definitely make a reservation, we walked in and waited to get a spot. Breakfast was great! I had the acai bowl and really enjoyed it. For dinner, we tried the ribeye steak and the lobster burger. The ribeye was massive and absolutely worth the price. The lobster burger was a standout, a bit pricey, and it came loaded with lobster, meat, bacon, and even a slice of pineapple that surprisingly tied it all together. There aren't many dining options in this area, so this spot is a solid choice, just be prepared for resort-level prices. The Poipu Paradise cocktail was a highlight super refreshing and highly recommended. Service could have been better, but it was still acceptable overall.

Yelp
Just got back from my honeymoon on Kauai and I can now officially say this was the best dinner we had on the island. My husband and I were staying at the Koa Kea but still made a reservation well in advance to make sure we'd get a table after reading so many positive reviews online. All of the food we ordered that night was incredible. We started with sashimi and scallops, which were prepared well and very flavorful. Then we got the pear salad and for entrees the game hen and lobster gnocchi. All of the flavorful combinations were divine. I look forward to returning to Kauai someday in part to have dinner at Red Salt again.

Yelp
We've been in Kauai for almost week and have been to several of the nice restaurants on the island and this was easily our favorite so far. You don't get the same insane views that beach house has, but the ambiance is nice and the food is just better. The wait staff was highly attentive and our server paired our wine with our meals perfectly. My wife said her ribeye was possibly the best steak she's ever had, and I enjoyed some local fish options. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Really great food here! There wasn't one thing that was off. The black and white sushi is killer with its back and white truffles integrated with the ahi tuna. I've never had anything like it and it's my new favorite sushi roll - and I've eaten in really decadent sushi places like Nobu in Malibu, CA. The service is pretty decent but the first time I went they forgot it was my birthday (technically it was the day before) but my other server made up for it the second time I went on my actual birthday. Something kind of funny was my gf didn't realize that the busser/hostess left a sopping wet towel on her chair! When she got up she had a big wet spot! Haha Other than that though, food came out timely. There's a nice ambiance with gently mechanical leaves that distribute air to you while you look over the pool. I would recommend and go there again.

Yelp
Incredible final dinner in Kauai at Red Salt. It's known for its inventive Hawaiian cuisine, superior service and upscale dining room with ocean views. We were fortunate to be served by Miranda, an eight-year veteran of the restaurant. She epitomizes the superior service provided at this restaurant. By the time our evening ended, my wife and I considered her a friend. As someone who has primarily drank Mai Tai's on this trip, tonight was an opportunity to get back to my go-to-cocktail at home: a Belvedere martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. At Red Salt, they shake the drink at your table, and the martini glass is huge. I had to try some Nigiri Ahi and it was sensational, as expected. I could see myself some day eating Ahi for every meal. For dinner, I ordered the Ahi Steak and it was perfectly seared and beautifully presented. Some chefs definitely know what lightly seared means, while others don't. My wife ordered the Prime Ribeye and it was awesome, with incredible flavor from its marbling. The best part was I got to eat half of it after my Ahi. We finished the evening with the decadent Bread Pudding. It was heavenly. If you're a foodie, Red Salt is definitely a place to dine at while in Poipu.

Yelp
Becca was amazing at breakfast! Perfect ambience, stellar food and 5-star customer service. Our fave!

Yelp
Tonight my mom & I had dinner at Red Salt. I'm visiting from LA so I admit that I consider myself a bit of a foodie and have high expectations. So it's not often I am this blown away. Not only was the food exceptional but also our server, Christian, was amazing!! Best customer service I've experienced in a long time. Everything we had was delicious- the miso soup, the whipped ricotta, the risotto (w/sea scallops) & the flourless chocolate cake. Christian was super friendly, attentive and made it a fun dining experience! Do yourself a favor and check this spot out.

Yelp
The food was absolutely INCREDIBLE here! This was our final restaurant stop before our trip ended.... And MY GOSH.. INCREDIBLE! Wish we ate here the entire trip. Not to mention, the hospitality here was beautiful. Excellent service! Thank you again, Red Salt staff :)

Yelp
Breakfast with our server Sage was an event! Our table of four enjoyed a leisurely meal with Mac nut lattes, seemingly bottomless mimosas (we ordered bottles and juice on the side), and tasty omelettes, Avocado toast, and the star of the table, the lemon pineapple soufflé pancakes. The pancakes were more like sweet meringue and we all shared. Spacious restaurant and can't wait to return for dinner before we leave.

Yelp
Great food and great service. Becca is the best! Always has a smile on her face. Very helpful and knowledgeable.

Yelp
Service was nice and drinks were delicious. Loved the tuna, but the mahi mahi was a bit overcooked as was the sticky ribs. Would still try again, just might pick other options!

Yelp
Marlina you are our girl. Thank you for making every morning so special and fun for our toddler, she loved seeing you and you making sure she was happy so we were happy. 5 stars for Marlina at Red Salt for breakfast, she's the best. :)

Yelp
Amazing food and service. We had Andrea who was very sweet and patient with our 1 year old! We had the handcrafted pina colada and Mai tai, both great. We also got the foie (fancy!), house ricotta , and hamachi (yellowtail) crudo, all delicious appetizers, and they have a great kids "keiki" menu too. We got our kid the monchong, which he absolutely loved! And we got the mahi and a tuna roll, such a delicious mahi, beautifully prepared. My favorite dinner of our whole vacation in Kauai, and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for an elevated but not stuffy dining experience!

Yelp
Red Salt was just okay. Especially if you're already staying at a resort with ocean views (or get there after dark). The Lobster Gnocchi was very good, and by far the best part of the meal. The fish was a tiny bit dry but still tasty. The Grilled Pear salad, however, was atrocious.. the pears still hard and weren't grilled, and the rosemary infusion they were soaked in tasted bitter and unpleasant. The rest of the ingredients just felt thrown together and not easy to eat. It's a nice "date night" meal out but I definitely wouldn't go solely for the quality of the food.

Yelp
Server Alex was wonderful as were the breakfast everyone on staff was really great from the hostess Kiana

Yelp
This is one of the most expensive restaurants on the island. No matter how much you spend on dinner, you are still going to be hungry again the next day. But, having spent eight weeks on Kaua'i over the past three years, we decided that for once we should try Red Salt. We had a spicy tuna sushi roll, the homemade ricotta app, the vanilla bean mahi mahi, the crab-crusted monchong, and the bread pudding for dessert. The food was plated beautifully and delicious, the portions are on the small side. Did we enjoy the food? Yes, but we had more satisfying experiences at Break + Feast, JO-2, and RumFire. If you come from outside the resort, parking is valet only. I gave the guy a $5 tip to retrieve my car which took him about 60 sec, but he seemed disappointed. Sorry, guy, after spending $15 for a 12 oz. bottle of beer and over $300 for the rest of the meal, that's all I had left.

Yelp
I truly believe this was a five star dining experience. The food here is delicious and the drinks were fantastic. The fresh sushi is 110% fresh and I highly suggest trying at least one of their rolls or sashimi. We started out with the coconut and shrimp soup, which was very light and refreshing. I could've had multiple bowls of that soup. We also had several of the rolls that were in the $30 range. We could've just had rolls and soup and been happy. But, my husband decided to do the tasting menu - which consisted of a ricotta appetizer, Scallops, and then the mahi-mahi. The dessert was absolutely delicious, flourless chocolate cake paired with a delicious port. I had the ahi tuna and the crust was amazing. Our waiter Christian was phenomenal. We highly recommend sitting by the window and then enjoying a walk around the resort when you're finished. All the service members were very polite, friendly and seemed happy. Please note that anytime you want to park there you have to use the valet. Also, you absolutely need to make a reservation.

Yelp
We stayed at Ko'a Kea and had a fantastic experience. We ate at Red Salt three times for breakfast and the service and food were excellent. Becca was very attentive to our needs. We also ate here at Red Salt for dinner, our 1st anniversary celebration. Food was incredible, and our waiter, Christian, took care of us. We even got a little celebratory dessert on the house! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Back to Ko'a Kea again! Wanted to note that breakfast options here are amazing! All a bit pricey but the food quality and presentation are outstanding. Our server Becca wqs particularly helpful and friendly (she was also our server when we were hear a year ago!!). Finally, sitting next to the window looking out over the pool and ocean is a great way to start the day!

Yelp
Food and service were superb. Nayan was our waiter and took great care of us. He made great suggestions and helped us make our choices. The scallops were fantastic!

Valerie G.

Yelp
Awesome experience! The food is amazing! We ordered the tasting menu and our server JoJo provided amazing wine pairings! Just the right amount of food. Delicious flavors. Food cooked exceptionally! This place has been a regular spot for each of our visits to Kauai and each time it only gets better! And our server, Jojo, is the best!

Yelp
We had a wonderful Christmas dinner in Kauai at Red Salt. The service and food was fantastic. The tables are spaced out well for privacy.

Yelp
Great food & friendly service from Jeff, Karis & Jacob. We hope to come back. Mahalo for the memories!

Deb O.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious, and our server, Marlina, was so kind and delightful! We had the breakfast tacos and the eggs any style combo, as well as a fresh fruit plate, and the dishes were presented in such a lovely way. The view of the ocean is an added bonus, too! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Everything.... EVERYTHING went well! When you go to Red Salt, you expect fine dining. The finest dining possible is what we got. It was Valentine's Day and both of us were pretty stressed out and really wanted a relaxing evening. After being stuck in traffic for what seemed like forever, we walked into a calm, relaxed eating area, were greeted by an attentive host and seated shortly afterward (and given a red rose!). The ambiance was perfect. The table lighting was not some cheesy little tea light, but, very sleek and effective. We could read our menus and there wasn't so much noise in the room, even though it was at full capacity. I could hear my date without having to ask... what did you say? Noah was our waiter...and man... that dude was spot on!!! We ordered a bottle of wine, and not once did we need to top off our glass. He took care of that. We ordered the Valentine's Prefix for Two menu. Each course came out perfectly timed. Oysters, Lobster Dynamite, Filet and Lava Cake. Noah was attentive without being overly invasive. Not once did we feel forgotten nor did we feel like we were being rushed. It was a perfect balance. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our dinner at red salt. The food was really tasty and the wait staff was great. My only gripe was that the sushi rolls were a little over priced. We paid quite a lot for dinner, it was good but it was a bit over priced for what we got.

Yelp
We came to dinner for our anniversary and truly enjoyed the whole meal. Service was wonderful, ambiance was great, food was delicious!

Yelp
We absolutely loved coming here for breakfast! Not only was the food delicious, but the service was some of the best we've had anywhere. Our server Becca was so sweet and friendly, we loved starting our mornings here!

Yelp
Breakfast is so quick and easy (and filling) if you're staying on property. Our server (Marlina) was the best!

S S.

Yelp
The food and service was great. However the acoustics were horrible. The place was so loud with conversations going on everywhere that we had a difficult time hearing the waiter or our own conversations. It would be no exaggeration to say that the sounds bouncimg off the walls and ceiling were deafening! The walls and ceilings of this place were of hard material, so nothing there to absorb the sounds. It's sad that the poor acoustics ruin their ambiance, great food and service.
google avatar

Yelp
Red Salt server Marlina consistently goes above and beyond in every way. She's not only attentive and efficient, but she also remembers our past orders--both food and drinks--which makes every visit feel personalized. Her service reflects true hospitality, exceeding expectations with thoughtful touches and a genuine care that makes us feel valued and welcomed every time. She makes us feel like ohana and worthy of a 5 star review.

Sarah W.

Yelp
Amazing. This place was a hit for us! Service was wonderful and the food and drinks did not disappoint. I tried the chef's tasting which was awesome... house made ricotta, scallops, and vanilla bean mahi mahi were all top tier. Mango marg was superb and mai tai was great too! Highly recommend! Not the most incredible water front setting or anything but the food makes up for it.
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
We hoped the experience would be better... the food was sub par at best.... We had better mahi mahi at Lava restaurant at Sheraton. Empty restaurant and we were sat in the back facing a wall. For over $700 for 5 people, save your time and money. We were very saddened by this experience.

Yelp
We spent a week on Kauai, and Red Salt stood out as one of the most expensive restaurants. Having gone to the major ones (Oasis, Keoki's, Plantation, and Hualanis) on the south side of the island, we could not figure it out, as we ordered less here than at other places, and our bill was at least 25% more. We sat indoors for a late-start dinner. (You won't see the ocean when it's dark out.) We had the scallops appetizer, monchong and lobster risotto and one drink. Our bill was over 220. To be clear, the food was plated beautifully and delicious. The lobster, in particular, was surprisingly excellent, but the portions were on the small side, as pointed out by other reviews.
google avatar

Britney B.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant! Top notch service from Noah and the restaurant manager, Angel. The food was amazing and the drinks were perfection! Sushi was fresh and the entrees were beyond tasty! We will be visiting here again.
google avatar

Yelp
We stayed at the charming, and very chill, Koa Kea resort. A definite draw was their on site restaurant , Red Salt. Each meal was not only delicious but thoughtfully presented. Of course, the ambience was perfect. When in Kauai, this restaurant is a must visit, whether you are on site or staying elsewhere. Enjoy!
google avatar

Dawn S.

Yelp
Outstanding food. Gracious and appreciative staff. Perfection in ambiance and comfort. We love eating here, from the Sushi bar to the breakfast selection of gourmet goodies and incredible dishes. One reason we keep coming back to the Koa K'ea resort is this restaurant on property. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Maria S.

Yelp
The food is always worth the wait even on a holiday. Make sure you make reservations prior to arriving. Drinks at the bar and a casual evening stroll are amazing.

Nick T.

Yelp
Becca was our server and was incredible! The food was spectacular... get the lobster Benedict! Amazing breakfast experience!!

Yelp
We ended up at Red Salt because we wanted a nice dinner out and the Rumfire was closed for a luau. Came in without a dinner reservation but were seated at a table in less than 10 minutes. The hostess was very friendly and the server came and took our drink orders quickly. Here's where it got good: drinks were amazing. Ordered Caesar and the grilled pear salads for starters, both which were delicious. Our server was really great, I don't remember her name but she had great tattoos and rings. We took the severs recommendation on a few sushi rolls. We travel all over the world and have eaten at some very nice restaurants. We have had great sushi before but...wow! These rolls were literally the best we've ever had. You MUST try the Dynamite Roll!!! We had to order another even though we were pretty full just because we wanted to try it. Based on the drinks, appetizers, and sushi, we figured the desserts would have to be amazing as well so we ordered the Hawaiian bread pudding and the s'mores martini. Boom, sooo good! The girl bussing our table was super friendly, asking about every item we had ordered and seemed genuinely pleased that we were so happy with our meals. Yes it was expensive but not more than any other nice restaurant and like I said before, the service and food were well worth every penny! Will be recommending to everyone, and will try and come back before we head home. Well done, Red Salt!

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Ko'a Kea and got to enjoy breakfast there each morning with our daily breakfast credit. Their food is of very high quality and they offer vegan options, which can be hard to find at breakfast. Great coffee, too. We often were served by Becca who was so lovely, professional and remembered all of our preferences. We look forward to going back!

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Breakfast at red salt was absolutely delicious! Everything we ordered was incredible but you must try the pineapple soufflé specialty dish. Our server Becca was awesome - so sweet and knowledgeable. We can't wait to come back!

Shane M.

Yelp
We ate here for dinner twice and breakfast once. Each time the food and service were excellent and one of the best we've had on the island. The sushi, burger, and ahi along with all the desserts were our favorites. Shout out to Marlina for providing great service during our breakfast!
google avatar

Yelp
Breakfast was great. We called any they started the pancake soufflé which was fantastic. They accommodated our kids without difficulty. Nice restaurant and property and would go back for another breakfast/ brunch.

Yelp
Came here for a brunch before going back home to California. So sad feeling the Paradise. However I enjoyed my last dining in Kauai at this place. The food that i tried include the avocado toast, lobster Benedict and a very sweet half papaya! The coffee was so fresh and well made as well. Will return for lunch or dinner someday!
