Ambiance- 5/5 Nice views and decor It can be a good spot for a romantic dinner Service -5/5 Attentive and friendly One server did drop utensils accidentally and food got on my mom’s dress but other than that it was great! We came for her birthday so they did a small birthday pizookie type thing which was nice Drinks: 4/5 I got the poipu paradise and it was delish. Tasted the Mai tai and pina colada as well. Both good. Mai tai at merrimans is way better. I got an espresso martini for dessert and it was 4/5. All the drinks are definitely overpriced but decent Food-5/5 We came a few years ago before pandemic and I think the food has gotten better Appetizers: Scallops: 5/5 perfectly cooked and flavors were great . So good we got a second order! Would definitely recommend! Foie gras: 5/5 I love foie gras and it’s a good version. Portion is small it’s good for 2 people Bone marrow:2/5 the only thing I was really disappointed in. Super small amount of bone marrow and lots of grilled onions or something on top that overpowered the flavor We would have gotten two orders had it been good. Bummer. Entree: 5/5 I got the local fish. It was tender and flavorful. Loved the side of mushrooms too. Tried my mom’s crispy Cornish game hen which was tender and very good!!! Haricot verts also cooked well

While visiting Kauai, I unexpectedly ran into some friends that I don’t know were also visiting, and we decided to go out for dinner. I hadn’t heard of Red Salt before, but they couldn’t stop talking about how great it was, so of course we had to try it. From the moment we walked in, I was impressed. The restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxed but elegant, and the service was absolutely on point. The food completely blew me away. The scallops were probably some of the best I’ve ever had, and the lobster gnocchi was next-level good. It’s definitely on the higher end price-wise, but honestly, you get exactly what you pay for. Everything about the experience was worth it, and I’d come back here in a heartbeat the next time I’m on the island.

Google
We stayed at the Ko’a kea hotel and visited the restaurant casually as it’s dry close. Oh, my! What a surprise! Every appetizer/entree/desert was 10/10, best food I had over all 4 islands! Portion is pretty big - easy to share as well

Google
Pricey but decent food. The focaccia bread was horrible, seemed like it was a day or 2 old and zero taste. Entrees we had the hen something (whole chicken) and the rib eye (14oz) both were very good. Mash potatoes as a side, tiny portion but decent. The Hawaiian bread pudding for dessert is a MUST order, delicious.

Google
When researching restaurants on Kauai for my honeymoon Red Salt consistently came up as one of the best restaurants on the island. My husband and I stayed at the Koa Kea but I did make a reservation for dinner well in advance to ensure we could get a table. Since it was a special occasion we went all out and ordered appetizers, salad, entrees and dessert. All of the food was incredibly delicious. The lobster gnocchi was a highlight for me alongside the freshness of the pear salad and my husband loved the sashimi he started with. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, checking in but also allowing us to take our time and fully enjoy the dining experience. I would happily return if back on Kauai!

Google
We stayed at the resort for a week and were very satisfied with the delicious meals we ordered at Red Salt for breakfast, poolside lunch, and especially dinner! The desserts were tasty, too. I recommend the breakfast tacos, the short rib, sticky ribs and truffle fries!

Google
Delicious food, excellent service. The menu has a bit of everything, great variety, very seafood forward. Everything we had was delicious. The service was very friendly, professional, and helpful from the valets to the hostess to the server (Jo was excellent). The restaurant space isn’t great. It’s very loud (bad acoustics - there were some VERY loud people at the bar and it reverberated throughout); the seating isn’t very comfortable; it was hot and stuffy; and the view is of the hotel’s pool bar and loungers, with a sliver of ocean in the distance. But the food and service make this restaurant a total must.

Google
Incredible food. Seriously one of the best meals we have had. The Red Salt burger is a must. Drinks were perfect. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Also they were very accommodating and mindful of our food allergies. Worth every penny, thank you to the crew 👍

Yelp
Excellent food, ambiance and excellent service! Marlina was an excellent server and thought of everything before we did! We loved having breakfast here with the incredible view.

Yelp
The scallop appetizer was really good. The scallops weren't sandy or anything, I think one might have been slightly undercooked but my husband ate it anyway. I ordered the gnocchi and it had a strong truffle flavor but I thought it was very good. It was also a large portion, I couldn't eat it all. The restaurant seems fancy but also on the noisy side. Service was nice but just a little slow, which would have been fine but I had three kids with me so it made it a little stressful. They also do have a kids menu, which I didn't know beforehand. The kids cheese risotto was good.

Yelp
I am writing this review and went to go pull up the photos I took for this place and I just looked at them, and wow, they look like they are out of a magazine. Look at that presentation! This place pays very close attention to their detail, not only with the presentation, but with the ingredients, atmosphere, service, the whole nine yards. They even put edible flowers into the food, that are some of the biggest "edible flowers" I have ever seen. I didn't eat my flower, but now I sorta wish I did, looking back at the photos. The gnocchi is probably the meal that stood out the most. Something about the texture gave it a almost mochi like consistency. Each morsel was dense, but soft, and sorta doughy and spongy. You have to try it! It's always a gamble when I order a steak "medium rare" and this place had it come out perfectly. It was soft and pink inside with a good crust on the outside. I liked eating the steak off of this piece of stone which made me feel like a caveman with just this huge piece of amazing steak. The server was really accommodating and friendly and did not feel over bearing in anyway. I appreciate how the restaurant had its lightning and made the room and area feel classy. The valet is free (just need to tip them) and the guys were super chill running the valet.

Yelp
Becca was an absolutely fantastic server. She was quick, attentive, and made the experience such a pleasure. She was on top of all of our needs and extremely helpful. The food is excellent, the fruit is so fresh I wish I could have it at home. I love that all of the seats have direct views of the water, it's such a beautiful place to eat. Both times I've had breakfast at Red Salt, the food has been phenomenal. And they fry the bacon to perfection. I would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Yelp
My second time dining here (husband and I stayed at Koa Kea six years ago for our honeymoon and returned for our anniversary) and it was just as delicious as I remembered! A beautiful space, great windows, and very friendly and welcoming service. My husband ordered wine (epic wine selection available) but I got one of the cocktails, the Koloa spritz and it was very delicious and refreshing. We had the housemade focaccia to start, very tasty and the perfect little loaf for two. John ordered the ahi which was delicious and I ordered the Kona lobster gnocchi, which is probably one of the most delicious meals I've had, ever. So. Good. For dessert, they surprised us a little cookie in a tiny cast iron skillet with ice cream and a "happy anniversary" chocolate, and we each ordered our own desserts- panna cotta and the passion fruit crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was amazing ! (John loved the panna cotta- I didn't try it because frankly I was too full haha) Our server, Mayan, was so nice and more than once asked us if we just wanted some time to relax and sit at our table, which we did. He also indulged our dorky request to take a picture of my husband and I. Can't wait to return on a future visit to the island!

Yelp
Food, Service, and Atmosphere were great. The Chefs tasting menu was a total rip off. If you add up the price of each dish it comes to $132. The price of the tasting menus is $125. So you save $7. But... you get mini portions. One scallop rather than three, a bite size portion of mahi mahi. Surprised the management thinks it's OK to rip off customers in this way. Again everything was great except the value. It was exceptionally poor. Breakfast this morning was great and no surprises.

Yelp
Ask for Candice! We had a delightful dinner for two last night at Red Salt. The food was delicious but the service was over the top. Candice made important recommendations and asked all the right questions you would expect from a top notch restaurant here on the island.

Yelp
We stayed at Koa Kea Resort and came here for both breakfast and dinner. For dinner, definitely make a reservation, we walked in and waited to get a spot. Breakfast was great! I had the acai bowl and really enjoyed it. For dinner, we tried the ribeye steak and the lobster burger. The ribeye was massive and absolutely worth the price. The lobster burger was a standout, a bit pricey, and it came loaded with lobster, meat, bacon, and even a slice of pineapple that surprisingly tied it all together. There aren't many dining options in this area, so this spot is a solid choice, just be prepared for resort-level prices. The Poipu Paradise cocktail was a highlight super refreshing and highly recommended. Service could have been better, but it was still acceptable overall.

Yelp
We've been in Kauai for almost week and have been to several of the nice restaurants on the island and this was easily our favorite so far. You don't get the same insane views that beach house has, but the ambiance is nice and the food is just better. The wait staff was highly attentive and our server paired our wine with our meals perfectly. My wife said her ribeye was possibly the best steak she's ever had, and I enjoyed some local fish options. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Great service today from Jacob S at Red Salt Restaurant! First class meal delivered by a first class gentleman!!!

Yelp
Really great food here! There wasn't one thing that was off. The black and white sushi is killer with its back and white truffles integrated with the ahi tuna. I've never had anything like it and it's my new favorite sushi roll - and I've eaten in really decadent sushi places like Nobu in Malibu, CA. The service is pretty decent but the first time I went they forgot it was my birthday (technically it was the day before) but my other server made up for it the second time I went on my actual birthday. Something kind of funny was my gf didn't realize that the busser/hostess left a sopping wet towel on her chair! When she got up she had a big wet spot! Haha Other than that though, food came out timely. There's a nice ambiance with gently mechanical leaves that distribute air to you while you look over the pool. I would recommend and go there again.

Yelp
Incredible final dinner in Kauai at Red Salt. It's known for its inventive Hawaiian cuisine, superior service and upscale dining room with ocean views. We were fortunate to be served by Miranda, an eight-year veteran of the restaurant. She epitomizes the superior service provided at this restaurant. By the time our evening ended, my wife and I considered her a friend. As someone who has primarily drank Mai Tai's on this trip, tonight was an opportunity to get back to my go-to-cocktail at home: a Belvedere martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. At Red Salt, they shake the drink at your table, and the martini glass is huge. I had to try some Nigiri Ahi and it was sensational, as expected. I could see myself some day eating Ahi for every meal. For dinner, I ordered the Ahi Steak and it was perfectly seared and beautifully presented. Some chefs definitely know what lightly seared means, while others don't. My wife ordered the Prime Ribeye and it was awesome, with incredible flavor from its marbling. The best part was I got to eat half of it after my Ahi. We finished the evening with the decadent Bread Pudding. It was heavenly. If you're a foodie, Red Salt is definitely a place to dine at while in Poipu.

Yelp
Unforgettable! I had the absolute pleasure of being served by JoJo at Red Salt last night, and she turned a great dinner into an unforgettable experience. She was incredibly attentive without ever being overbearing, and her personality made us feel like we were dining with a friend who truly cared about our evening. Her deep knowledge of the island and expert recommendations from the menu helped us choose dishes we absolutely loved. If you're dining at Red Salt, do yourself a favor and request JoJo--she will elevate your entire experience!

Yelp
Marlins & Karis are the best! Some of the greatest service you'll ever have. Food is excellent too

Yelp
Breakfast with our server Sage was an event! Our table of four enjoyed a leisurely meal with Mac nut lattes, seemingly bottomless mimosas (we ordered bottles and juice on the side), and tasty omelettes, Avocado toast, and the star of the table, the lemon pineapple soufflé pancakes. The pancakes were more like sweet meringue and we all shared. Spacious restaurant and can't wait to return for dinner before we leave.

Kelly K.

Yelp
Marlina was a delight. The food was delicious- avocado toast and fresh papaya were superb. Very friendly and timely service! Thanks Marlina!

Yelp
Tonight my mom & I had dinner at Red Salt. I'm visiting from LA so I admit that I consider myself a bit of a foodie and have high expectations. So it's not often I am this blown away. Not only was the food exceptional but also our server, Christian, was amazing!! Best customer service I've experienced in a long time. Everything we had was delicious- the miso soup, the whipped ricotta, the risotto (w/sea scallops) & the flourless chocolate cake. Christian was super friendly, attentive and made it a fun dining experience! Do yourself a favor and check this spot out.

Yelp
Becca was AMAZING!!!!!! And we loved the breakfast tacos. The view was also stunning - we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Just got back from my honeymoon on Kauai and I can now officially say this was the best dinner we had on the island. My husband and I were staying at the Koa Kea but still made a reservation well in advance to make sure we'd get a table after reading so many positive reviews online. All of the food we ordered that night was incredible. We started with sashimi and scallops, which were prepared well and very flavorful. Then we got the pear salad and for entrees the game hen and lobster gnocchi. All of the flavorful combinations were divine. I look forward to returning to Kauai someday in part to have dinner at Red Salt again.

Yelp
My husband and I ate here a handful of times (breakfasts and dinners) during our honeymoon and enjoyed every meal. We were always seated with a nice view, had friendly service, and the drinks and food were great.

Yelp
I love the breakfast. My order came out just as I ordered it with a little added treats on the plate. I especially appreciate Marlina who was helpful, friendly and fun.

Yelp
The food was absolutely INCREDIBLE here! This was our final restaurant stop before our trip ended.... And MY GOSH.. INCREDIBLE! Wish we ate here the entire trip. Not to mention, the hospitality here was beautiful. Excellent service! Thank you again, Red Salt staff :)

Yelp
Amazing food and service. We had Andrea who was very sweet and patient with our 1 year old! We had the handcrafted pina colada and Mai tai, both great. We also got the foie (fancy!), house ricotta , and hamachi (yellowtail) crudo, all delicious appetizers, and they have a great kids "keiki" menu too. We got our kid the monchong, which he absolutely loved! And we got the mahi and a tuna roll, such a delicious mahi, beautifully prepared. My favorite dinner of our whole vacation in Kauai, and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for an elevated but not stuffy dining experience!
google avatar

Michael K.

Yelp
This is one of the most expensive restaurants on the island. No matter how much you spend on dinner, you are still going to be hungry again the next day. But, having spent eight weeks on Kaua'i over the past three years, we decided that for once we should try Red Salt. We had a spicy tuna sushi roll, the homemade ricotta app, the vanilla bean mahi mahi, the crab-crusted monchong, and the bread pudding for dessert. The food was plated beautifully and delicious, the portions are on the small side. Did we enjoy the food? Yes, but we had more satisfying experiences at Break + Feast, JO-2, and RumFire. If you come from outside the resort, parking is valet only. I gave the guy a $5 tip to retrieve my car which took him about 60 sec, but he seemed disappointed. Sorry, guy, after spending $15 for a 12 oz. bottle of beer and over $300 for the rest of the meal, that's all I had left.
google avatar

Guymon S.

Yelp
Red Salt was just okay. Especially if you're already staying at a resort with ocean views (or get there after dark). The Lobster Gnocchi was very good, and by far the best part of the meal. The fish was a tiny bit dry but still tasty. The Grilled Pear salad, however, was atrocious.. the pears still hard and weren't grilled, and the rosemary infusion they were soaked in tasted bitter and unpleasant. The rest of the ingredients just felt thrown together and not easy to eat. It's a nice "date night" meal out but I definitely wouldn't go solely for the quality of the food.

Jill H.

Yelp
We went for breakfast. Juice and Bloody Mary were good? We did a half papaya and two eggs to start while waiting for soufflé pancakes. They were all fabulous. Only star issue was price. But we are in Kauai.... If you come here, you will love it all. Just make sure you know it will be pricey. Worth it for the most part. The Bloody Mary was 20 dollars and three pancakes were 29. It was filling enough.

Yelp
Marlina was amazing! so friendly!!! The Loco Moco was also fantastic. Thank you so much

Yelp
Great food and great service. Becca is the best! Always has a smile on her face. Very helpful and knowledgeable.

Yelp
Best sushi ever!!!! Do not skip this spot. We ate sushi at the sushi bar then ate dinner by the pool. The burger was also the best burger we've ever had. 10/10.

Yelp
Service was nice and drinks were delicious. Loved the tuna, but the mahi mahi was a bit overcooked as was the sticky ribs. Would still try again, just might pick other options!

E W.

Yelp
Red Salt was great for breakfast. Becca provided excellent service. The ambiance is also amazing with great views. The only reason they're not 5 stars is the lack of turkey or chicken or fish for breakfast protein.

bb m.

Yelp
we are staying at the Ko'a Kea. It is a wonderful resort. In particular the breakfast food service has been outstanding. Each morning our server has been Becca what a friendly upbeat person. She makes the whole experience positive and what a great way to start the day.
google avatar

Julianne N.

Yelp
Marlina you are our girl. Thank you for making every morning so special and fun for our toddler, she loved seeing you and you making sure she was happy so we were happy. 5 stars for Marlina at Red Salt for breakfast, she's the best. :)

Yelp
Back to Ko'a Kea again! Wanted to note that breakfast options here are amazing! All a bit pricey but the food quality and presentation are outstanding. Our server Becca wqs particularly helpful and friendly (she was also our server when we were hear a year ago!!). Finally, sitting next to the window looking out over the pool and ocean is a great way to start the day!

Yelp
Very sweet service and delicious food! The best compliment is we will come again. we was ordered toast avoc and asai bowl- definitely recommend

Yelp
I truly believe this was a five star dining experience. The food here is delicious and the drinks were fantastic. The fresh sushi is 110% fresh and I highly suggest trying at least one of their rolls or sashimi. We started out with the coconut and shrimp soup, which was very light and refreshing. I could've had multiple bowls of that soup. We also had several of the rolls that were in the $30 range. We could've just had rolls and soup and been happy. But, my husband decided to do the tasting menu - which consisted of a ricotta appetizer, Scallops, and then the mahi-mahi. The dessert was absolutely delicious, flourless chocolate cake paired with a delicious port. I had the ahi tuna and the crust was amazing. Our waiter Christian was phenomenal. We highly recommend sitting by the window and then enjoying a walk around the resort when you're finished. All the service members were very polite, friendly and seemed happy. Please note that anytime you want to park there you have to use the valet. Also, you absolutely need to make a reservation.

Hugo M.

Yelp
Excellent service and the food was even better. Only downside is the restaurant is a bit far from the ocean. Only partial ocean view if you are in a window table.

Stella P.

Yelp
Marlena was the best she made our morning! And breakfast tacos and fruit plate were good
google avatar

Yelp
Food and service were superb. Nayan was our waiter and took great care of us. He made great suggestions and helped us make our choices. The scallops were fantastic!

Yelp
Ate Marlina was simply the best with a warm, delightful greeting and amazing service through breakfast. Delicious breakfast and view from the window watching the rain pass made the ambiance relaxing. Ate Marlina Salamat Po! Kita kits!

Yelp
Everything.... EVERYTHING went well! When you go to Red Salt, you expect fine dining. The finest dining possible is what we got. It was Valentine's Day and both of us were pretty stressed out and really wanted a relaxing evening. After being stuck in traffic for what seemed like forever, we walked into a calm, relaxed eating area, were greeted by an attentive host and seated shortly afterward (and given a red rose!). The ambiance was perfect. The table lighting was not some cheesy little tea light, but, very sleek and effective. We could read our menus and there wasn't so much noise in the room, even though it was at full capacity. I could hear my date without having to ask... what did you say? Noah was our waiter...and man... that dude was spot on!!! We ordered a bottle of wine, and not once did we need to top off our glass. He took care of that. We ordered the Valentine's Prefix for Two menu. Each course came out perfectly timed. Oysters, Lobster Dynamite, Filet and Lava Cake. Noah was attentive without being overly invasive. Not once did we feel forgotten nor did we feel like we were being rushed. It was a perfect balance. Highly recommend.

Marykate Z.

Yelp
Becca the server was amazing!!!! Breakfast tacos were perfect. I will for sure be back!

Yelp
We stayed at Ko'a Kea and had a fantastic experience. We ate at Red Salt three times for breakfast and the service and food were excellent. Becca was very attentive to our needs. We also ate here at Red Salt for dinner, our 1st anniversary celebration. Food was incredible, and our waiter, Christian, took care of us. We even got a little celebratory dessert on the house! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Server Alex was wonderful as were the breakfast everyone on staff was really great from the hostess Kiana

Yelp
Food was great and so was the ambience. Our server was super nice and made a birthday celebration feel special. We got the pretzel bread with lilikoi butter and salt, the ricotta with honey and naan, a sushi roll called the Cane Fire which had a delicious crust of macadamia and chili oil, and the chefs tasting menu, which had a scallop appetizer (amazing), lobster risotto and australian lamb chops. The lamp chops were also delicious. We also had great cocktails (Mai Tai, French 75, and. Lemon drop martini) and the souffle cheesecake was out of this world. Pretty expensive but worth the price. A great high end meal
