Really cool place. Good food and service. Tucked away in an alley in Downtown Charlotte between E Trade and E 5th Street. Walking distance from hotels. We got a variety of items and they were all pretty good. My guest raved about the Buttermilk Pancakes. Nice retro-50's vibe.

Best diner food I ever had! Went 2 days in a row while visiting Charlotte. Yummy food, friendly service, and fun atmosphere. Great music playing on the speakers. I had an omelet with hash browns one day and sausage gravy on biscuits the next day.

Wonderful decor transporting you back to the Golden days. Atmosphere would be perfect to the theme with 50-60s music but really can’t complain. Food was served quickly and was delicious! I opted for an omelette and it hit the spot! Great portion sizes and friendly staff. Chelsea was welcoming with a bright smile and overly caring about my food allergies! The long hours are great for those cravings day or night!

Great breakfast, served hot and fresh, quick service too.. Atmosphere needs a bit of improvement with tape on benches and better cleaning. Also attitude of staff standing(actually leaning) at host both, was unprofessional.

This place ROCKS! Hamburger steak was perfect. Gravy and mushrooms on it actually has taste. My wife's fish and shrimp was cooked just right. Worth the time to find this jem.

I had their famous fried chicken, collard greens, and Mac & Cheese. Greens and Mac were good. Chicken was fried too hard, and there was no seasoning. The biscuit was good as well. The diner was located near the Aloft hotel. Service was fast and good. Would recommend.

Good, classic diner food at affordable prices. The interior has fun retro decor and neon lighting. The food was good, but the country ham was too salty to eat it all. I enjoyed the waffle. Our server was super friendly but came to check on us so quickly that we felt a little rushed, but it’s likely because the restaurant wasn’t busy at the time we went.

Best restaurants we have been too in a while. Great services with Great smiles and Attitudes. Food tasted excellent. 😋 Jasmine and Jayden was amazing! Informative and helpful. We were staying at a nearby hotel (AC) within walking distance and I needed a hearty breakfast before an all day tattoo session. RedEye is decorated like you're in a 50's diner. With a Jukebox, glossy red everything, metal coating, and photos of celebrities, it's a lot of fun! Our waitress was a gem. She was friendly, attentive, and quick. We ordered the RedEye Special with a waffle, waffle with blueberry compote, and biscuits with gravy. Everything was delicious except for the grits that I ordered on the side...it tasted like it was made with mildew water. I ate it and was fine but it didn't taste great at all. The biscuits and gravy were phenomenal!! I would definitely order those again. Overall, great place to go for early morning breakfast, especially if you're staying at the AC hotel where it's just an elevator ride down and few steps away. I just don't recommend the grits. But do order the biscuits and gravy (with an extra side of gravy because omg).

I dine here about twice a week simply because I love good food! My favorite is the shrimp & grits as well as the firecracker shrimp. Cheap, fast & Good!!! Thank you so much to the GM Ms. Shelly and one of the other managers Mr. Josh for taking care of us. It was greatly appreciated.

Stopped here on our way out, it's hidden in this little outside mall and we almost missed it. I ordered the fried chicken wings that the menu said were world famous, not sure in what world. They were okay, I felt like they weren't cooked long enough, a little light skin. I added hasbrowns and eggs, it normally comes with a waffle, but I'm not a big breakfast fan. My friend had bacon and eggs with a side of fruit. It's a place to go to after a long night of partying. The service was good, our waitress was very friendly and very talkative.

Came here while in town for my college reunion. We had Jasmine as our server. She was great and knowledgeable with the menu selections. I got the 2 eggs breakfast with scrambled eggs with cheese, Turkey bacon and hashbrowns. It was good and filling and I couldn't finish it. Bae got the French toast per usual for him. lol it was good because there was no to go box for him and it was gone within a few minutes.

Thank you RedEye Diner for being one of the few places in Charlotte that is open 24-7!! Back in the day when I was young I would have been here often after a night of drinking. Now days I love it because after an event in uptown sometimes there isn't a lot open and if you want to find a place to sit and eat it can be hard to find something. RedEye is reliable for these occasions. Is the food the best? No. But it is fine and there for you when you need it!

Red Eye has the BEST grits in Charlotte. I'm not sure how they achieve the consistency and creamy taste but they have it figured out! I ordered Fish and Grits. This is not in the menu as a meal however they can pair the two items together a la carte. You will not be disappointed.

The service was excellent, our server Dave was very friendly, and accommodating, and the Breakfast was absolutely amazing!! I also love the ambiance, old style Diner, love it!! I highly recommend this Restaurant for breakfast. Going to try and stop back for lunch.

It's a cute diner with your average American diner foods. Our waiter was nice and checked in on us a few times during our time there, and he was nice enough to wait for us to figure out what we wanted from their extensive menu. The diner was essentially empty when we came for lunch on a Wednesday so I was a little confused why the food took a long time to come out. Taste was okay and price was okay. Bathrooms are clean. Overall not bad.

We were walking around uptown and stumbled into Redeye Diner. It looks like an old school diner and they even have a jukebox, which was cool. Our servers were so nice and attentive without being overbearing. This diner has your typically greasy breakfast food but it was so good. I would come here again for breakfast!

We got dinner and a show! The food was typical good diner food. Our server's personality was fantastic the only down side was none of our food came out correct. We were all tipsy enough that we laughed it off and a good time joking about it. The homeless lady that came in screaming and cussing at tables was quite the unexpected show. Security immediately removed her from the establishment (which took a bit of effort)

We were in Charlotte to see a comedian and arrived an hour early. We took a walk around uptown to find a snack. We stumbled upon Red Eye Diner, which didn't look busy and we figured they could get us in and out quickly. The ambiance is what you would expect from a diner. Dowop pictures on the wall and a big laminated menu with lots of options including breakfast all day. I wasn't hungry, but there is always room for dessert. I got the banana pudding with vanilla wafers and whipped cream on top. It was just ok. The pudding wasn't as thick and I typically like, but all and all it was good enough for my snack. My family was much hungrier and got chicken and waffles and added Mac and cheese. It's the eggy baked kind of Mac and cheese. The waffle was excellent and the fried chicken wings were fresh, crisp, and well spiced. Our bill was affordable and the service was great! I will add that when we left and got to the theatre my iPhone dinged me that I left my AirPods. I called the dinner and they immediately answered and looked but didn't see them. I went into the "find my" app and realized they fell out in my car and were showing in the parking deck. (I found them after the show and slid next to my seat ) I would return to Red Eye Diner again.

Cute place, conveniently located in the Epicenter in uptown Charlotte across from the Spectrum center. Reasonable prices and great service. The fries were delicious, and the biscuit was wonderful. The fried chicken however, was somewhat flavorless. But, the BLT was very good.

Nice size portions, properly prepared, and good flavors. Give this place a try. Their hash browns were my favorite.

Breakfast. I was staying next door at AC Hotel, their breakfast was lacking. Glad I walked over. I had the meat lovers omelette, excellent. Side of bacon and tomatoes. Coke products, thank goodness.

The to go service is decent in the evening and it's quite cute and it looks clean but the food is terrible! I've eaten here twice in the past 2 months only because there seems to be no other options in this area. I had a fried chicken meal the first time. It was very heavy and left me feeling less than well. I had the burger the second time which was a very thin sliver of meat (I think). It was dry and tough like rubber. I won't be going back a third time.

Located in downtown Charlotte I had a mixed experience. The server was a downer "what do you want" welcome that killed any ambience but the cashier was cheerful. My French fries were frigid but they provided fresh fries after I asked that were delivered after I finished my burger. Hopefully my experience was not representative but I am sure I will not return to find out.

When you go the the RedEye Diner, you're really going to get that diner feel and all of the trappings that go along with it. The atmosphere was relatively quiet and the ambiance is generic. The waiter made ordering a bit complicated because they gave us too many options and when we thought we were good then he would suggest the order a different way. It was annoying. The food was average and I understand why other reviewers review it as such. I ordered the Redeye Special and I'm not being funny; there was nothing special about it. The pancakes were bland and tasted like flour. The bacon was good but the portion size were small for the price. My daughter ordered the Redeye Special also and she lamented my same thoughts. So were weren't impressed. Overall, I wasn't feeling the food but the place is good for hanging out and talking. I really wanted to like RedEye after seeing the outside of the restaurant and the menu but I can't get past the food.

There are not a lot of choices open late downtown but redeye is. Epicenter is not what it used to be before COVID. Redeye diner still going strong to feed all the transit workers from CTC and whatever business nearby. The portion is big which is expected from a diner.

Very cute and nostalgic place. Not many dinners left, so it is very nice to eat in one. Menu has many options. I wish they had mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. Lol. It is very clean, staff is friendly and professional. Great place to go for a walk and shop after a meal.

Party of three leaving oh, so very happy. Love the music, lighting, and vibe. Charlotte born. Mississippi raised. I wasn't sure if a diner would be able to pull off shrimp and grits. They were phenomenal! My daughter asked for chicken noodle soup, a hot dog, and a pickle . She was toe tapping all through dinner and bobbing her head to the music. My husband had the firecracker chicken sandwich and really enjoyed it. He said it was sweet rather than fiery but super appetizing. The service was fantastic, too!

Typical diner but the food was better than most. I definitely recommend the fried chicken and the pancakes and French toast.

My hotel recommended a restaurant that was not where they game me instructions for. We saw this restaurant so thought we would give it a try. I had a great waitress who was very cheerful. I wanted a southern breakfast. I ordered scrambled eggs, sausage, grits and biscuits. Grits and biscuits were good but the sausage tasted like it was from yesterday. They didn't have a lot of customers for breakfast.

The vibe is cool, the staff amazing and the food great. There are plenty of choices without being overwhelming. Location is convenient to the downtown hotels and the food is a better choice than your hotel. Can't wait to try their brunch.

So here's the thing. My food was ok (when it eventually got to me) and it actually tasted pretty good. So why the bad review? Well.....since you asked so nicely..... The floor manager was an absolute maniac and downright abusive to her staff. My server had a table run out on their check, absolutely crappy but it happens, but she went absolutely ballistic on my server. She started yelling at her and telling her that she would be responsible for the check (which I'm 99% sure is against the law now). So my poor server is shaking and upset while trying to serve us. It was so bad that four other girls got together on the computer to try to fix the offending check. I'm relatively sure they fixed some numbers on the check but at this point, two wrongs to make a right? Even though the food was ok, I'll never knowingly go support a business that abuses their workers!! Skip this one

OVERCOOKED. 50$ worth on take-out trashed. Don't waste your money or time WTHECK? Who overcook wings.

The food was pretty good. Tre was our server super friendly, and understanding the huge menu is a lot to take in. The vibe is definitely a definitive diner. I think there might be an ac problem there was a giant fan in the dining room. Its family friendly. Parking is a bit weird. Use the giant parking lot hooked up to the building. It's not a roadside location. You do have to walk a bit. But the food is worth it.

Cold food. Slow service. Indifferent staff. Long delay for food. All the usual bad stuff.

We came here on a Monday late morning so it was pretty quiet in there. There is quite a bit of construction going on around it so you kinda need to keep your head on a swivel getting there. We were seated immediately since there weren't a bunch of ppl there. Some of the booths you can see had a lot of wear and tear. Our waiter was really nice, the food came out quickly. I ordered the waffles and eggs with turkey sausage on the side. I really liked the waffle because it was light and fluffy. This was a decent place for a diner.

This is a diner with a full bar and big TVs. It's a place you don't know you need until you're there. The food was bordering on below average. My husband and I had burgers and sides and I just remember needing lots of ketchup and salt just for flavor. But we simply selected this diner because we needed a place to watch a sports game between hotel checkout and flight back home. Our server was on point and very friendly, the food just isn't memorable.

We were in Charlotte on business as content creators (ghostwriting + photography) + we asked our cashier at Whole Foods the best brunch spot in Charlotte. He said hands down, has to be Redeye Diner. So, the next morning we made our way around 11am to the diner. We were happy there was no line since we couldn't access the online waitlist -- but it was definitely busy. Our cashier from the previous night said you have to order the shrimp + grits (I've never been a grits fan, but ...) First: the whole restaurant is a vibe. Jukebox, the wall art is amazing, so fun + the service was absolutely amazing and friendly. We ordered the infamous shrimp + grits, Cheddar Scrambled Eggs, French Toast and the classic Redeye breakfasts. No one was disappointed! (Only the coffee was something I could have skipped. My team members enjoyed their milkshakes hands down (especially when our server Danie told us it was her first ones!) If you're good with a diner vibe + delicious breakfast food, don't hesitate to go here AND order the shrimp + grits (the biscuit that came with it was also DELICIOUS) If we're ever called out to Charlotte again for content creation -- this will be a MUST go to!

I had the "smash burger special" for lunch the other day. The burger was delicious. The patties had the perfect amount of char on them and the waffle fries were fresh, hot and crisp. Price was very reasonable and service was great! And the new owners have cleaned up what used to be the EpicrimeCenter. I had no fear of being randomly felled by a stray bullet!

Added our party of four to the waitlist, and never received the text that we would be seated. Found seats at the counter and only after nearly ten minutes we were acknowledged, and placed our order. The gentleman closed checks for multiple others prior to bringing our drinks. After thirty minutes, others around us getting food, and asking 3 other individuals to check on our order, a manger got cross with me for being frustrated...five more minutes to find out the server had never placed our order. Left with two crying children and zero apologies.

Great breakfast and good coffee at reasonable diner prices. Staff is incredible and the atmosphere pure diner. Wonderful experience every one of my six visits!

My wife and I were traveling and found ourselves wide awake at 4 in the morning. Plus we were hungry as heck. So I jumped on Yelp and found the Redeye Diner. So happy that we did because we went back the next day. We received great service from Rosie and Anthony. They were friendly and very attentive. Our orders were very quickly completed and delivered. Everything was absolutely delicious. My wife actually got the shrimp and grits on both days because they were so good. I highly recommend the Greek omelette. Very tasty. Classic diner menu with reasonable prices. we all ordered burgers with fries and they were pretty good. Service was great and every one was friendly.

Just go and see Mel the waitress. She the prime example of southern charm. Very sweet lady and very chatty. The food was very good but it took a while for it to arrive.

Good home made food. Great chicken fried steak. Great chicken and waffles. We will come back again.

A definite favorite every time we're in Charlotte, perfect for breakfast or late night. Don't forget the milk shakes!

My son and I were visiting from Boston and stopped in before taking in a Hornets game. Location was great - a very short walk from the arena. The atmosphere is classic diner. We were welcomed by friendly staff, music is good (and not too loud). Everything is clean and comfortable. The menu offers standard comfort food. We ordered a burger and a steak sandwich and both came with fries. The food was GREAT. Classic diner but kicked up a notch. Fresh bread, crisp veggies, and cooked perfectly. And as good as our sandwiches were, the waffle fries stole the show. We were both full before we finished everything but we couldn't stop until the fries were gone. Prices are more than reasonable (especially considering the location). Just a great experience overall. One last note. I'm always super nice to staff and a solid to great tipper even when things aren't great. But I'm silently annoyed whenever my party receives too little or too much attention. The Redeye staff hit the sweet spot perfectly from start to finish. Friendly but not intrusive. Great awareness of where we were in our meal and super fast to respond when we needed something. I highly recommend!

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW THIS RESTAURANT IS NOT LOCATED AT THE ADDRESS LISTED ! ! ! NO WHERE NEAR ! ! When walking, this is on College St. 1/2 way BETWEEN 4th. St. and Trade St., located down a "court" that begins next to the entrance to the Aloft hotel. Several other restaurants and the like are also located in this nondescript & unnamed court, which appears to be very po THANK YOU Shelly, the manager for walking out to find us as my wife and were at the corner of College & Trade Streets. We would have NEVER found this place if it had not been for Shelly ! ! # THE GOOD # 1) The steak in the steak and eggs w/ hash browns were OUTSTANDING ! ! One of the best 8 oz. steaks that I have had ANYWHERE! ! 2) The chicken noodle soup was great and filled with good shredded chicken, noodles and other good stuff. Although somewhat flat- at least I could season to taste and was not pre-salted. # THE BAD # 1) It took FOREVER for our food to be prepared- even @ 4:00 in the afternoon on a Wednesday with only a handful of other patrons. 2) Once it was delivered, the turkey & Swiss sandwich was EVENTUALLY delivered with everything else that was ordered, but did not have any Swiss cheese. When Manager Shelly asked if everything was OK and found out that the Turkey & Swiss did not have any Swiss, she demanded that they remake the sandwich - which was a really nice gesture- EXCEPT that the remake took as long to prepared as the first order ( again, with only a handful of other patrons) 3) Our waitress was pleasant, but of MINIMAL help. If it were not for Shelly, we would STILL be there. So much to love - so much to SCREAM about ! ! 5 stars for Shelly, 5 for the steak, and 2 for everything and everyone else

I have completely stopped going to your establishment because your General Manager Shelly is such a horrible boss. How do you guys let her treat her employees with such blatant disregard. She is rude and condescending. Over the last year we have noticed that none of our favorite servers are there anymore, servers that had been there for years. That says a lot about your company. How can you tolarate such a rude person. that cant be good for business.

I am a long time Customer but the Quality has gone down while Prices have Skyrocketed through the roof ! I took my First Date there for Dinner last Friday . Wait time was a bit excessive too . For a total of $67.45 we expected better . Not sure if post Covid issues or also the Inflation Economy but my Gosh ..Very Unsatisfactory. Thank You

We went after a concert, so it was about midnight. There's security at the door and then you have to wait for the hostess to come get you before you go inside. The staff was all very friendly and working hard. The onion rings were awesome, they actually had seasoning on them. The strawberry milkshake was packed full of flavor-no cherry on top though lol. The Turkey and Swiss was average and the waffle fries were good. The root beer float never came, but it was on my ticket at checkout. It was removed, but the 10% discount that I showed was never applied. $27 for onion rings, shake and sandwich (with fries).

This was exactly what I was looking for when I thought about hitting a diner for breakfast. All of the food was excellent. The service was very friendly and made sure that we were happy with everything we ordered.

While in town for a meeting I walked over to this conveniently located restaurant. Who doesn't like a diner!! The staff were all really friendly and helpful, and the food was served quick despite a note on the doors asking for patience as they are short staffed (like so many other places). My order was taken promptly and the food only took about 10 minutes. I did arrive early (about 5:30pm on a Monday). The Firecracker is a breaded chicken sandwich. The chicken itself wasn't great (pretty thin), but the firecracker sauce was really nice. The onion rings were a very generous portion and taste great. If I am feeling lazy and not wanting to head too far away from my hotel I may give them another shot. They have a great menu and tons of positive reviews.

The Bubba tasted good. The server Rosie was awesome. She has a great attitude. The place looks like a diner you would see in the 60's movie's.
