A friend had raved about Redfern Continental so I insisted that my regular Thursday-night dinner friends try in. They don't take reservations and we were lucky to grab the last table. The atmosphere is fantastic and the staff are super friendly and helpful, but we didn't go for atmosphere and staff.
Entrees were mussels, prawns and carpaccio. My friends were a little lukewarm to their seafood entree. Me - I loved, loved, LOVED the carpaccio. It was absolutely brilliant. I could eat it by the bucketful.
The mains were barramundi, weiner schnitzel and whole spatchcock. This time around me and my friend were lukewarm on the barra and schnitz. However, the spatchcock, according to the third in our party, was exceptional. We also had a side of brussel sprouts, and I ate one for the very first time in my life. They do not deserve their bad reputation.
We had a great night, good food but, overall, not exceptional food. We would go again but at just under $200 for the three of us, it won't be a regular haunt.
