Option 1: hike a trail, look around. Option 2: book Eileen for an unbelievably eye-opening easy hike where she identifies the trees (more than the Redwoods are there) and plants ("here eat this, what does it taste like?") and animals (ahh, there's a banana slug, let's pick it up) and lichens/fungus/mushrooms. The daughters get much more out of the hikes with a Naturalist explaining things, than just with me, and they are better behaved/less complaining LOL
