The room was perfect for us. Nice quaint quiet motel. We loved it.|Ground floor room, parked right in front, was so easy to load and unload the car.|Nice comfortable king bed, lovely shower, nice fluffy towels, kitchenette with Keurig coffee maker. Living room with couch. |Older establishment however it was very clean and comfortable.|Easy walking to the restaurants and shopping. Everything you need within a few steps, drug store, grocery store, shopping.|Checking in at the Victorian Inn was easy thanks to Jason! |We will definitely stay there again on our next trip to Ferndale. |Great breakfast at Pappa Joes and yummy ice cream at Patches Pastries. Highly recommend both.

Friendly welcome. Clean rooms, but it did smell a bit of damp. Massive let down was,ack of evening meal. The whole town shuts down on a Wednesday so although the parent owner is the lovely looking Victoria’s Hotel, they don’t do evening meals Wednesdays. Only a pizza restaurant open in the whole town. If I’d known that, I wouldn’t have booked. We needed up having to drive to a nearby town to eat and Uber prices were stupid. Breakfast was really tasty, nice to get coffee in proper china cups. ,massive fridge and kitchen, the town of Ferndale is beautiful. Perfect, iconic town.

We stayed in Room #9. This suite was a perfect size, the kitchen was nice to have available, but, the older refrigerator made a lot of noise, the bed was uncomfortable because of the plastic mattress cover. The suite reminded us of our grandmother, needs to be updated. The continental breakfast was very good. The shower head needs servicing.

Great location, easily walkable to all Ferndale has to offer. Such a great town! The room was large and very comfortable. The scones in the morning were the best I have ever had! The restaurant next door was delicious and highly recommended as well. Everyone was very friendly.

We spent one night in May at the Redwood Suites in the Fleener Creek Suite 2. Redwood Suites is operated by the folks at the Victorian Inn and is located a short distance down Ocean Ave. We loved our Fleener Creek Suite. This wonderful unit consisted of a roomy living room with a flat screen TV; a dining area; a separate, generous bedroom with comfortable, king size bed; a tiny but complete kitchen; and a bathroom with a shower. It was very clean, freshly painted, and lovingly decorated. This unit, like most of the other units, is on the ground floor with parking just outside the front door. We could have called our Suite home and moved in permanently. A lovely breakfast at the Victorian Inn dining room is included in the rate. ||The Victorian Inn was renovating its kitchens and the manager sent us to the Ivanhoe Hotel for dinner. The dinner there was delicious, and the servers helpful and friendly. Ferndale itself is a magical place, and Redwood Suites is just steps away from exploring the village shops and restaurants.

We checked in at the Inn, then drove a short distance to the “Redwood Suites.” The building is an old-style motel format, with parking in front of each unit. It desperately needs a refresh.||Upon entering our “suite,” we were overcome with the musty, unpleasant smell. This place looks like it hasn’t been updated since the 1950s. The bathroom is miniscule, with very dated fixtures. The decor is dowdy, everything is brown or shades of. It has shag-like carpeting. (When have you last seen that?). ||We went out looking for a place to eat in Ferndale. There are a few restaurants in town, but all were closed for the day except one, and it was essentially a bar. We were forced to drive to Eureka to eat, and in doing so passed a number of modern chain hotels. After dinner, we secured a very clean, pleasant room in Eurkea for the same price as charged by the Redwood Suites, returned to Ferndale to get our stuff and departed. We never slept at this facility. We could not have managed the smell overnight, even though we had to pay for the “suite.”

Google
Ferndale is such a gem and being able to stay right off the Main Street makes this lodging so wonderful. Everything was spotless and well laid out for our family in the suite. The freshly made strawberry cardamom muffins were superb for breakfast across the way at the Victorian Inn - a lovely start to a fun filled day sightseeing.

When i drove in it wasn't clear which was the entrance. The reception is not in this building. It is in the Victoria inn which is in next block. That's were you go for the breakfast as well, a block away. I was disappointed with the size of the room. Everything seemed old and dampy. The bathroom was small. Some of the Furnitures were weirdly placed. The tv in the living room was smaller than a regular computer monitor. It had no sitting furniture right opposite to it. There was just a couch on the side facing totally in a different direction. And it was hard to watch the tv from the couch. The kitchen didn't seem to have adequate utensils. Anyway the downtown was walkable so you get most of the food there. The reception is in victoria inn which is on the other side of the Street. No tv in the bedroom. The free breakfast was a block away from the lodge in Victoria inn. Not convenient that way unfortunately. The breakfast want a hot one. It had usual coffee/tea , fresh muffins, some un sliced fruits. The map showed a EV charger in the parking lot. I didn't find one when i checked myself. May be check with the front desk.

Yelp
Had a wonderful stay at The Redwood Suites @ The Victorian Inn Ferndale,Ca. Two best friends celebrating our 55th Birthday's with a much needed relaxing stay. Anthony at the front desk was so helpful, guiding us to Ferndale Pizza for some wonderful Eggplant Parm. Katie from the dining room @ Victorian Inn where we enjoyed a late lunch (Thanks again for accommodating us), and a nice birthday breakfast on our last day! Would stay again! Any day, any time of year! Can't wait to get back again! Thank you everyone for making our stay a great memory

Yelp
We had some vehicle troubles and spent the night. The local garage (Tipple Motors) was outstanding. But a bonus to a less than planned experience was our stay at the Redwood Suites. Our suite was nicely appointed and very comfortable. It helped remedy a potentially stressful situation. What a nice place to be laying over for vehicle repair. The whole town is very friendly and accommodating. Thanks.

Yelp
We stayed in the motel-like accommodation 1BR in April 2021. This is within walking distance to the adorable downtown Ferndale. We chose the motel-like accommodation as we felt it would be safer to not share common areas during the pandemic. Newly remodeled, and clean. Free breakfast 1/2 block away at their Inn. Easy to drive right up and almost into the room! Great accessibility. Make sure you walk all of downtown Ferndale and a quick 5 minute drive through pasture land to the beach.

Yelp
After a nearly 15 hour drive from Seattle, I had never been so excited to arrive somewhere. Ferndale seemed like a worlds difference from the city we passed through right before (Eureka). Check-In was quick and easy and our 2 Queen suite was so spacious and cozy! There was only one restaurant open by the time we arrived around 6pm but there's a grocery store within a 2 minute walking distance from the room. I loved that we were able to park right in front of our room. After sleeping in 5 different hotels this week, I slept the best here!! I highly recommend staying here rather than any of the surrounding towns.

Yelp
Loved our stay here. We would definitely stay here again. It was nice to have some space. Instead of your typical studio hotel it was a one bedroom apartment, with a full kitchen! It was super clean too, a must since our two year old touches everything.

Yelp
Our family of four adults stayed in this lovely inn for three nights this summer. We all really liked our beautiful rooms. The beds were super comfy with a variety of pillows to choose from. Having a full kitchen was a bonus we all enjoyed having. When I walked in the door, I felt so comfortable and relaxed. The only downside (which I am not going to lower my rating for because I absolutely liked this place) was the annoying sound of logging trucks that began each morning at 5:00 a.m. It was especially loud because there was a stop sign almost directly in front of the inn where each gigantic truck had to noisily come to a halt. But no matter where you stay in Ferndale, you are going to hear the trucks. So just close your window at night and run a fan. The absolutely amazing upside was the fabulicious, complementary breakfast served at the Victorian Inn. I'd stay there just for the breakfast each morning. ;-) So, despite the early wake-up call, I would not hesitate to put "my cup of tea" stamp of approval on this quaint, comfortable inn. (P.S. An added bonus is getting up early and having the town virtually to yourself so you can take pictures before the other tourists show up and block the buildings with their cars.)

Yelp
We had an awesome stay at the redwood suites in Ferndale, CA. It was a great town and the suite accommodations were perfect for our young family. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
We did NOT find anything good about this motel or it's policies. In our situation, we reached out to the hotel more than 36 hours before our reservation to cancel and we were told too bad, no refund of the charge to our credit card would be provided, and a gift certificate would be provided. We thenz explained to the hotel that we would not be travelling to Humboldt in the foreseeable future and their gift card has no value for us, and again we were told, to bad, no refund of charge placed on credit card. Then they told us that when using the gift card to book a future room the hotel is going to charge the card AGAIN upon new reservation, thereby DOUBLE charging the customer. We looked up the hotel for date we cancelled and they were sold out. Their unwillingness to work with us is completely unacceptable. Customer service here is beyond bad. I do NOT recommend booking here...ever!

Ellen C.

Yelp
I love this place! The price isn't much higher than what you'd pay at the nearby casino, or any non fleabag place in eureka, and what you get is sooo much nicer. The room had a full kitchen with microwave, full-sized fridge, keurig with actually decent coffee. They provide a complimentary breakfast at the near by Victorian inn- nothing fancy, but it's freshly made and far better the typical microwaved jimmy deans you'd find at a beat western. The only potential down side is the small tv. Honestly it didn't bother me, but I know it may bother others.

Britni P.

Yelp
The service and staff at Redwood Suites was awesome! The room itself was very clean and comfortable. We highly recommend grabbing dinner and drinks at the VI!!

Yelp
Third time I've stayed at the Redwood Suites. Comfortable rooms and they include a great hot breakfast. I thought it was nice that the innkeeper stopped by each table at breakfast and greeted guests. He had apparently looked at reservations in advance to see where everyone was from and could incorporate that into his greetings.

Yelp
This was our 8th (maybe more) time to Redwood Suites. We are always pleased with the rooms, service, and breakfast. What more can you ask? They are willing to adjust their breakfast for my dietary needs, within the confines of the choices on the menu. Lowell and Jenny are the best hosts! We will be back again in this September.

Yelp
Lovely, old-time motel, with convenient suites including kitchenettes. Small, with easy access (you can park your car in front of your door). Great service, including full breakfast at Victorian Inn 1/2 block away.

Yelp
We booked a 2nd floor suite for 3 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, it was not available upon arrival and we had to switch to a lower floor room which we found noisy as the windows faced directly at the front street and parking lot. Even though Ferndale a small town, we could clearly hear traffic and people walking by day and night, Because of the pandemic, a kit of the same cold breakfast items were available for takeout daily. It was helpful that we had a kitchen in our suite so we could make some of our meals. We enjoyed a nice dinner at the Ivanhoe Hotel across the street. It was always crowded and they had a good menu.

Jacob S.

Yelp
Our stay was wonderful. Jenny and others made it feel like home for us. The service and kindness was above our expectations. Jenny went above and beyond to help make our 2 week stay special. We loved Ferndale! Grocery store and restaurants all in walking distance.

Yelp
I wish I could have found a way to pay less in town, but the bottom line is that you want to stay and it is a wonderful place and nice is what you get! So enjoy it. The moment I pulled in I knew I wanted to stay here. The very pleasant woman at the desk made me a reasonable offer and I went for it. I proceeded to spend a wonderful 12 hours or so enjoying a room clean and well equipped, a great internet connection, a location both quiet and right in the middle of town where I was able to jog nearly every inch of it in the evening and the following morning might have ran all the way to the coast just five miles away, but it starting raining and check out time was looming. This is a big yes. I hope to get back there soon one day.

Yelp
Booked redwood suites for one night on our honeymoon, we were passing through to Oregon the next day. The wife and I loved it so much we literally canceled the rest of our trip and booked our room for the rest of the week. The hotel staff were all amazingly nice, I only had pleasant experiences. The restaurant they are connected to (actually a couple doors down) serves a ribeye steak that you will never forget. Everything at the restaurant is unforgettable, best clam chowder we have ever had anywhere. We ate here several nights. Drive out of the parking lot of the redwood suites and turn left and in five minutes you are at the most incredible California beach. Nicer than fort Bragg and there was only ever a couple people out. Not only did we love our experience with the redwood suites we fell in love with Ferndale do not hesitate to book here if you like clean rooms, and friendly staff, and good meals a couple steps away! We will be back for our anniversary, probably every year.

Yelp
He room we stayed in was very spacious and extremely comfortable!!! The sheets are of high quality, the room had a great little kitchen and was very tasteful and comfy/cozy. I wish I could have stayed a few more days. I will definitely be back!!!

Yelp
If you are JUST looking for a quaint & quite place to relax, away from the hustle bustle of a city you've landed at the right place, the old victorian town of Ferndale. I enjoyed staying at this warm, cozy, spacious Redwood suite. Wifi connectivity is quite weak though..make sure u hve ur own 4G cellular service. :)

Sheldon B.

Yelp
We spent a couple of nights in Ferndale at the redwood Suites. The woman at registration when we checked in was not particularly friendly - her responses to questions were curt and she seemed annoyed by having to answer or queries. The room smelled of disinfectant, and we had to air it out before it was comfortable to use. Meals are taken at the Victorian Inn, of which Redwood Suites is a part. My wife had a spinach salad on our first night, and the spinach was not fresh, nor were the walnuts. Redwood Suites offers a complimentary breakfast, which is a nice touch. However, on the two days we had breakfast, my eggs, which were ordered scrambled, were not at all scrambled but more omelette-like, and rubbery. On our second morning my wife ordered yogurt and fruit, but the server said they were out of that option, very disappointing as we were among the first people in the restaurant. My wife felt the server was less than friendly and helpful - she had to ask for water twice, the server didn't bring condiments to the table when requested (why condiments had to be requested and brought from the kitchen seemed strange - they are generally on the table) and by the time they arrived our meal was getting cold. Overall, not the best experience. We ate at other places in town, and stayed at and ate at other places on our trip, all with much more satisfactory results. Look elsewhere if you want a great experience.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our visit with the Redwood Suites. They include a full breakfast at the VI restaurant. Delicious. Clean quiet as spacious. It was perfect

Brianna S.

Yelp
Ferndale was beautiful - we enjoyed exploring Humboldt country on our bikes and hiking and Redwood Suites was a great starting point. There were a few food options and stores in town so we had everything we needed close at hand. Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable a very good quality 'drive up' style room. Breakfast was included (grab n go due to COVID). Staff and the local people were all friendly and helpful, we arrived late and they made checking in to our room very easy.

Christine T.

Yelp
I really loved our room- it was quiet, super clean and very large! I really liked the old drive in motel feel but updated. There were deer grazing right outside our door and a wonderful free breakfast at the Victorian Inn. This is not a modern, cold hotel-but it is cozy, and well kept with ample room and amenities .

Mary Ann C.

Yelp
Second time here and again we had a peaceful and comfortable stay. Room was clean and cozy. Had everything to keep rooms warm on those very cold nights. Breakfast at the Victorian Inn was fresh and tasty. Will continue to stop here at this little gem of a place.

Barbara B.

Yelp
Room was comfortable and clean. Location was perfect to walk and enjoy downtown Ferndale, bike or drive to Centerville Beach and explore the Wildcat. Ask locals about road biking routes, fun loops. Good parking, good customer service. Will stay here again. Short drives on the 101 to Fortuna and Eureka.

Yelp
My friend and I met in Ferndale for a girls getaway weekend. The motel was roomy, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was yummy and everyone was friendly. Ferndale is a charming destination.

Yelp
We love this place. For some reason it feels just like coming home. We do not get up there often, but when we got to our little apartment this time we were so surprised to find everything completely spruced up!! New paint, new rugs, new furniture, new everything!! I would have loved to stay longer. Ferndale is darling!! Big streets, slower pace, incredible backdrop of green hills and ocean beyond. To top it off, they include a breakfast that far exceeds any hotel or motel icky breakfast. You are given a menu and waited on meticulously. The owner (?) even came out armed with facts about us, like where we were from and when we were there last and what we had suggested for improvement. Wow!! Good job, Redwood Suites!!!
google avatar

Bret V.

Yelp
Looks underwhelming, but is very nice on the inside. Only con was water pressure in the shower. Almost none.

Dinah M.

Yelp
A solid 3.5 stars! Pluses: 1) by 9:00 PM it is dead quiet in the area; 2) parking is easy; 3) spacious living area; 4) UBER comfy bed & pillow!! Negatives: 1) Shower is made for teensy weensy people. Very slippery fiberglass. It would *really* improve things to add a few grab bars, put in a rubber mat and add a hand-held sprayer; 2) no Kleenex in the room, hand-washing soap only in the b-room (should be in the kitchen as well; 3) Breakfast is served from 8-10. No good for those of us who need to eat and get out early. Perhaps offer dry cereal and aseptic packages of milk + bananas for early folks? Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would probably return the next time I'm in the area.
google avatar

Kim J.

Yelp
The Redwood Suites was clean, but it was not what we expected based on the pictures on line and the price. It is an older motel with new furniture and bedding. It was certainly adequate but we were a bit disappointed.
google avatar

Traci C.

Yelp
We had a wonderful Valentines Day weekend at Ferndale! Redwood Suites had very clean and comfortable rooms. We really enjoyed the great breakfast at the Victorian Inn each morning and it was even included with our stay. We will definitely be back again to stay! Ferndale is a great town full of fun shops, great food and very friendly people.

Yelp
This place is pristine , everything clean and in order and quiet and we loved the entire experience. We got a little freaked out when we arrived cause no one seemed to be in the place and a sign asked us to check in at the Victorian Inn around the corner. However, going there we met the owners Lowell and Jenny as well as Anthony who checked us in and gave us his cell number in case we felt uncomfortable in the night as he lives there close. It felt like we had arrived at home with all of this warmth and people who love what they do.. We ate at VI (their restaurant) and OMG the best halibut and cod we have had. The spinach salad was so good with wonderful strawberries and sliced almonds. Can't believe this place. The over all experience was wonderful....... If you need to travel to Eureka or the surrounding area please do not miss this experience.

Yelp
We stayed for 5 nights in room 4. The apartment was perfect as our base for travels North to Oregon on 101 and South to all Humbolt County has to offer. Truly is a spectacular area of Redwoods, wilds, beaches and farms. Our room was clean and quiet. The beds were very comfortable dressed in quality bed linens. Large windows allow for fresh air all night if you wish. The kitchen is equipped with anything you'll need to prepare snacks. The breakfast included just a short walk at the Inn was exceptional and held us over most of the day on our adventures. The grocery store is right around the corner with reasonable prices & fresh food and adult beverages. If you're looking for a modern hotel with a wild nightlife this is not it. We can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our relaxed stay at the Redwood Suites and the town itself.

Marcy G.

Yelp
Very charming town and extremely friendly people. Happy with our accommodations as it was walking distance to everything but, the inn is a little outdated just needs to be brought up to date. Otherwise clean and charming. The shower however was so tiny my husband 6 foot with broad shoulders couldn't turn lol! But the manager or owners are super sweet and accommodating

James P.

Yelp
The room was clean and comfortable. Was nice to have a kitchenette with fridge. Even though we came into town late, the check in at the Victorian Inn across the street was still available. The desk clerk even called before we arrived to let us know the procedure if we were delayed further.
google avatar

Marilyn W.

Yelp
We accidently found the Redwood Suites when our other accomodations turned out to be "not so good." The staff was so friendly and nice and a room (w/o kitchenette) was available. The bed was great, it was quiet, and we could park our "dog van" right outside our door (we were in Ferndale to show dogs). Nice place to walk the dogs, dumpster available for clean up. Walking distance to good eats and shopping (even a market). We really enjoyed our stay there! Pets are not allowed in the rooms, but that worked o.k. for us. A really nice spot to land for us! Thanks Redwood Suites!

Daniel P.

Yelp
Had a very nice stay, nice clean room with everything we needed. The only complaint is the furnace sounded like it had a little guy inside with a hammer beating on it when it ran. The free breakfast was great not your ordinary continental breakfast. It was a fun little town to walk around in and see the shops.

Stefanie G.

Yelp
Great place, flexible check in and having a full apartment is very convenient. If you're traveling on official government business, they offer the GSA per diem rate and honor tax exempt WITHOUT HASSLE!

TJ B.

Yelp
Clean, comfortable, close to town and hiway, great staff, great food at hotel

JoAnne J.

Yelp
We have been staying here for the past several years each time we visit Ferndale, CA. Every stay has been pleasant and relaxing. The staff is extremely helpful and professional and the accomodations are clean, quiet, and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoy staying here, the location is such that you can easily walk to the many fine shopping and dining establishments in beautiful Ferndale!

Jon H.

Yelp
First, what you see is not what you get. The picture posted at Hotels.com turned out to be a picture taken of a building in downtown Ferndale. Having paid nearly $160.00 for the night, I really expected better than a 1970's motel. While the room was clean, and breakfast was provided, we really feel that the property was seriously mis-represented.

Penny B.

Yelp
They were very helpful, especially when our group got registered for the wrong day. Our fault, but they changed the resevations and emailed each of us.

Carol S.

Yelp
My sister and I traveled through Ferndale on our way to Eureka. We treated ourselves to a couple nights' stay and enjoyed it so much we can't wait to go back. Everyone at the Redwood Suites went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we need. We browsed throughout the town, spent time on the beach and had excellent food at the wonderful Victorian Inn. After just two days we felt as relaxed as if we'd taken a month off. We highly recommend it!
