Some of the Best Food in Canada Is Hiding in Le Bic

"A waterside chalet complex offering about 15 standalone cabins thoughtfully refashioned from derelict buildings; interiors pair distressed wood with flea-market and antique finds to create a cozy, light-filled woodland vibe with many porches overlooking the St. Lawrence. The property includes a kitchen garden, herb patch, and henhouse (guests are encouraged to help themselves to eggs), an on-site pantry shop, and the option to hire private chefs who will cook in the very well-equipped kitchens. Outdoor activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding enliven summer stays, and chalets provide a comfortable base for exploring the surrounding coastal landscape." - Nina Caplan

We stayed in the chalet Le Nordet. It is literally falling apart. The shower head is so damaged where the water comes out it hurts but most of the other holes are blocked so you have hardly any water (yet huge pressure in the sink) to shower with. Spiderwebs everywhere, the view is pathetic, blocked by trees. The sink tap downstairs drips, there are no proper cupboard. And don't tell me it's because they want to keep it ecological because it is full of dead stuffed animals and furs in the chalet! AND the cherry on the cake was that it was 90 degrees inside when we got there and only a tiny fan which hardly worked and was terribly noisy. I called the owner who couldn't help because she didn't have another fan available. She said these high temperatures were unusual (obviously never heard of climate change) yet she had AC in the reception where her office is!!!! She didn't try anything to make it better, couldn't care less about the sleepless night we had (awfully hot and noisy), didn't accept to reduce the rate and charged us the rest of the stay as soon as we checked out despite our plea. And the total invoice was $500 for the privilege. KEEP AWAY, THIS PLACE IS A SCAM RUN BY SOMOEONE ONLY INTERESTED IN MONEY.

This is one of the most amazing place I've ever visited. Just fabulously located in the Bic, one of Canada's most beautiful parks right on the St-Lawrence river. The chalets are just tru gems as you can se from my pictures. And the service from the team is wonderful. They make your stay something you will treasure forever.

This was the nicest chalet we stayed at on our holiday touring around Gaspe for 9 days. The antique country decoration leaves you relaxed and serene. Lovely front deck to enjoy coffee or drink. Outdoor fire place is wonderful. Little gifts like cookies, chocolate makes you feel they want to please. You can enjoy a real expresso coffee. Wow! The check in quick and efficient. The chicken coop with fresh eggs and the garden are great touches for our little 6 yr old. We loved this last stop. The property is absolutely lovely. The only negatives I have is it is close to the highway and noisy and a longer walk than I expected to the sea.

Vieux Loup de Mer really is like the chalet you wish you had in the country: a fully equipped kitchen, a huge dining room table, comfy couches, a deck with barbeque and comfy chairs, a terrific view, ample hot water and loads of towels, comfy beds with great linens...plus egg-laying chickens and a garden full of herbs and vegetables. We were delighted with the amenities, the location, and the sunsets. A terrific stay. Plus a super retro oven that worked like a charm. There's a tiny shop at the entrance with gourmet products, too, if the hens aren't laying eggs or if you need more of the Bas St-Laurent terroir.

Great place. We were in the Doux Repos (Sweet Rest) for 4 nights. The Chalet is situated water front. Sunsets were spectacular. We appreciated the peaceful and quiet rest that we had .||Chalet was beautiful and rustic. It was nice having Quebec items available at their general store.||Workers were always welcoming and helpful.||Hope to return someday

Beautiful property. Outstanding design and comfort of cabins, with no needed amenity forgotten. Bic National Park is a treasure and there is no better place to look out over the water onto the park. We particularly enjoyed walking the property and discovering the gardens and the chicken coop.

Spent a wonderful three, relaxing days in a chalet overlooking the St Lawrence. Wonderful hospitality, great shop with local produce and in the morning you can go to the hen house and get fresh eggs! We enjoyed the experience and will be sure to return.||Chalets are situated close to Rimouski and a national park! Excellent location||Hosts were very attentive and you can see they simply love their property and everything it has to offer

Vieux Loup de Mer is a charming escape in Le Bic, near Rimouski. Each chalet is different, a piece of the region’s culture and history. Chalets are purchased and moved to the property, then lovingly restored and decorated by Jean-Luc and Martin. Pretty much all of them have a view of Rose Bay and the Saint-Lawrence River.||||A garde-manger is located where you check in, stocked with wines, artisanal items, and foodstuffs prepared by one of Québec’s best restaurants, Chez Saint-Pierre. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and speak French and English.||||I cannot recommend this place enough. I’ll definitely be back!
