Fabulous refugio! Staff were exceptionally accommodating and friendly. We arrived slightly late for dinner which was not made to be a problem

Rude offensive. You can support any political movement you want but refusing place due to having an israeli passport is just rude:

It's really a nice place to start your hikes

Guy behind counter/bar/kitchen is rude. See other reviews. He didn't even mention that the water was not safe to drink, untill other guests pointed it out to me. And when I confronted him, he just looked away and continued cooking... He doesn't speak English (you are working in the tourist sector, learn English!!). No smile during check-in. No smile during dinner. Not even there during breakfast (which is quite bad). Dinner was mediocre. Sleeping is one very large room (40+ beds) with doors in between, but bad luck if you have beds 1-8, you WILL wake up all night. My advice: take the bus from Benasque or Lanos de Hospital, it's only 25-50 minute walk depending on your speed anyways. Save yourself the money and bad experience. And go to the refuge at Odessa, at the foot of Perdido if you want a good atmosphere, friendly personal and good food.

The staff was friendly and professional in explaining the status of the routes and providing recommendations. The dinner was delicious (just perfect after a long day in the mountains). The vibe around was amazing. La Renclusa is the place to stay if you love mountains and meet fellow mountaineers. I highly recommend it.

The guy in the kitchen/bar is extremely rude and arrogant. A behaviour that simply doesn’t fit in this beautiful scenario where the refugio is in. He should be let go, he ruined it for everybody. It’s weird and sad to see people behaving this way in the mountains. Definitely not coming back

Had a delicious egg and bacon sandwich prepared for me quickly for take away for 8€. Would love to see what other foods come out of here oh my next visit. The resident kitty is super cute and friendly

Based on other reviews of Refugio de la Renclusa it's clear that different guests have different expectations. I'll share my perspective as a novice refuge guest with family. The area around the refuge is beautiful, especially when the sun sets below the mountains. Kids will really enjoy the little stream, the chapel (which looks like a hidden tunnel) and the playful cats around the refuge. The staff is super friendly and speak multiple languages. It's still helpful to have a translation app on case your Spanish is just basic level. Don't forget to download the dictionaries, same for digital maps and routes (e.g. Komoot) if you need those. There is no cellular coverage up there, so good to keep this in mind. If you reserve a room, you also have to book dinner and breakfast. When booking online, you pay a deposit and the remainder can be paid after dinner. They also accept credit cards (staff has wifi, not available for guests). Dinner includes a starter, main course and dessert. It was definitely meeting expectations for meal at 2140m altitude, just don't expect a full restaurant experience. One tip for the staff. It's clear you have to work very hard to prepare dinner, serve guests and clean the plates. But it wouldn't hurt to be a bit more personal and it could actually make the dinner more enjoyable for you as well. Finally the rooms. We were first assigned to the back of the 2nd floor (Maladeta room). There was a lot of mold on one wall which didn't really help with one of our kids, because of asthma. Please spend some time to fix this for other guests. The staff helped us to move to another space, close to the entrance with a lot more fresh air. Thanks for the help! Keep in mind there will be noise from nightly toilet visits, people starting to pack at 4:45am. So best to try to sleep early and catch enough rest. Overall, it's great to start your next hike early morning in the middle of the mountains. With some improvements the value for money could be better. Still an experience not to forget!
