Refugio Grey

We loved our 2 nights in Refugio Grey and would highly recommend it. |It's in a beautiful location, not far from a sublime glacier lookout. The place is really nicely furnished with lots of space to relax. There are sun loungers on the deck outside and a fire/stove on each floor - very handy for drying clothes or warming your bones after the cold wind! |The staff were all so nice, helpful and fun. And we loved the music - lots of fun and dancing! 😆|The rooms were really cosy and beds very comfortable. |Bathrooms were great, with hot and cold water regulation for the showers. The place was also very clean and it was clear staff paid a lot of attention to cleanliness and hygiene. |We also loved the food and drink - we felt it was one of the best refugios that we have stayed in!

A good refugio with shared rooms (we were in a room for 4 people). Friendly staff. Clean rooms with hot water for the showers and sinks. Good food, with generous portions. Well located just by Glacier Grey which you have to see if you stay here (part of both the W Trek and O Trek in Torres del Paine). There is an option to get a boat to/from here which can reduce the walking if you are at the end of the W Trek, but you will need to book in advance (as you will need to do with the refugio if you want to stay there).

Our stay at the Refugio Grey back in October was EXCELLENT. All the staff were so friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the bar/dining area was a great place to end the day, and the location was perfect for hiking trips out to see Grey Glacier and the lake. I want to make sure to highlight one employee - Valentina - who took the time to share an absolute treasure trove of knowledge with us. She told us about the history of Chile, the people of Patagonia and Punta Arenas, local food that we had to try, etc... Also, she had some great recommendations for our return to the Central Valley. Her passion was infectious, and my hiking partner and I both really appreciated her help. We couldn't have been happier with our stay and I hope to return some day.

Comfortable tents, though there are two separate sleeping pads instead of one for two people (unlike Las Torres, which is essentially a large bed). Vertice asked us to carry our rented sleeping bags and pillows (with no pillowcases provided) to the tent from the check-in reception - so they got a bit wet in the rain during the walk to the tent. It did seem like it was cleaned though, which is a good sign! Expect high winds! Food was great- buffet style and a long line (even with pre booked meals) but worth it.

We stayed here for 1 x Night at the start of the season - Oct 2025 for the W Trek. We opted for camping with sleeping bags and mats provided by the campsite. All of which were good quality and we found no faults. We found the staff extremely helpful, friendly and showed us where everything was. Staff in restaurant were particularly attentive The toilets and showers we found clean and were clearly regularly checked. There was boiling hot water available which meant we didn’t need to use our stove & gas. Nice restaurant too if you wish to pay for dinner or breakfast. It’s important to mention they have a well stocked shop with noodles, snacks and energy drinks etc. Only negative I’d mention is the price of everything, it’s incredibly expensive so best to bring your own food and snacks, if you can.

We had a wonderful stay here with our group. We stayed in 4-6 person rooms with bunkbeds. The rooms were clean and had enough space for all our stuff. The beds had very good matrasses. The dinner buffet was great too. The staff was very welcoming and extra kudos to receptionist Valentina who was great in answering all our questions. Thanks to the whole team!

The best-staffed refugio in Patagonia. We stayed at all of them along the trek, and this one stood out for its people. The guy at reception went out of his way to help me, the breakfast cook kindly brought out fresh eggs after I came down late and the buffet ones had gone cold, and the two girls behind the bar were amazing—showing us videos of themselves collecting glacier ice for the drinks! Everyone was kind, cheerful, and genuinely welcoming. Upgrade the blinds in the dorms though as they’re not very good at blocking light.

We had a great stay at camping Grey, made even better by the amazing service Nati provided! She helped us get the exact tent we wanted, out of the wind, and even let our friends come join us under the canopy for a better night sleep. Great vibe, good buffet style dinner, and cool excursions like kayaking and glacier hiking out there as well. A good night stay to wrap up your W Trek.
