Regal Palms Resort

Stayed 2 nights in December 2025 My wife and I booked a 2 night stay thru a travel portal Agoda / Rocket Travel and listed this hotel as a 5-Star accommodation with an "Exceptional" rating. Be forewarned that this is far from what would be considered a 5 star resort in the year 2025. It may have been a 5 star resort when it was built several decades ago, but not anymore. We splurged and booked at Superior King 1 bedroom ( over $300NZ per night ) expecting a great experience. The room was spacious, however the decor was dated, the furniture old and worn, the carpet stained and dirty. There was a dank odor throughout. Furthermore there is no restaurant at all, no room service, no bell hop or concierge. In fact, there's not much in the way of amenities or services to speak of, unless you count the small miniature golf set up right in the middle of the parking lot. I cannot reconcile how this place could legitimately be considered more than a 2 star motel. The glowing reviews from other guests cannot be authentic. Relative to the cost, I would have to say this place is an incredible case of misrepresentation. An abolute disappointment and by far the worst of accommodations during our time in New Zealand.

Best stay in Rotorua! So much to do at the resort, from playing mini-golf, swimming in 30° pool, using the BBQ (FYI all tools supplied and everything in the container), table tennis, sauna and laxing out in spa in our room. Couldn't recommend enough!!! Service with a smile and just really comfy rooms! We've decided, its our go-to place tp stay and we will be back

This is not by any means a 5 star hotel and resort. I’m writing this review specifically for people who may be quite surprised when they arrive. The reviews are focusing on the location, different things to do such as tennis, mini-golf etc, which are all fine but the room and furnishings are nowhere close to what you imagine a modern 5 star place to be. The TV has an old SKY tv set top box if you still recall how those were back in the day. The much advertised private spa is also very old. We didn’t bother to turn that in. Beds are comfortable and there’s enough space. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Heated pool is nice.

Honestly, the friendliness and logic of this accommodation beats the 5-star hotels in the bigger cities we stayed in before and after our two nights at Regal Palms. The woman at the desk was SO friendly and the room was SO clean and logical in the spacing and furniture. We didn’t use any of the amenities outside, but we did get some ice from the lobby and advice that made our trip great. Highly recommend; thanks for having us! :)

5 star rating. It’s the little things and will compare to the Hilton in Auckland that makes this place superior Hilton had no pay tv, gave those piddly little milk portion 2 of, shower had a hand held that wouldn’t stay in place. No free parking and had to pay for a park with no shelter or security. Here at the regal palms- bed and pillow jist as comfortable if not more comfortable, had sky tv, best shower, proper portion of milk, couple of biscuits! And parking included- thank you.

Cool place to stay, staff was friendly, plenty of space in the room. Bathroom was huge!!! Bit of a hike to get around on foot. But plenty of Parking and easy to get around if driving

Always good to stay at this place. Had our second stay. Enjoyed with our family. Best place to stay while in Rotorua. This place is just distance away from shopping and activities. Quite and comfy family friendly. 😊 Would always return here. Highly recommend 👌

A very nice place to stay- highly recommend. Staff are nice and helpful. The luxury suite we stayed in was a big room, with a big spa bath to embark in upon arrival. Bed was a bit hard, but all the other amenities made up for that. Will definitely be back to stay again.

This hotel is definitely getting outdated compared with other hotels. This place still uses a key to unlock the room. The room was spacious, as well as the bathroom. There is also an outdoor seating area behind the bathroom. Theres a miniature golf area in front, DVDs available to borrow, and a car wash area. Not a bad hotel, but I would definitely try a different hotel in the future.

My only real grip is their WiFi is slow and unreliable. The rooms are nice, clean, and the staff are amazing. Our room had a spa tub (jacuzzi tub) in the room. The only downside to that is that it takes forever to fill the tub. The kitchenettes are well supplied for a family of 4. The walk to downtown is easily walked (takes about 20 minutes); but, watch out for automobiles - even when in s crosswalk the drivers seem to care little. The office has a selection of DVD movies to borrow - if you find time for movie watching. The hotel is located within a short distance to numerous tourist sites.

This place exceeded our cleanliness expectations, by quite a bit (as it's a less-expensive lodging). Definitely not impressed by the hotelier staff... at all however, which is too bad. And the A/C wasn't intuitive. But a huge in-room spa-tub, hot showers, large room, plenty of parking, great price. They are a fair distance from the center of town, but if you have a car, that's no problem.

Regal Palms is an upper range, well-maintained modern motel complex about 3km from the centre of Rotorua on Fenton Street. There is a swimming pool, mini-golf, and small gym facility. The units are well provisioned and have a full kitchen with dishwasher and oven. The bathrooms have heated floor, towel rails and a small spa bath to seat a cosy 4 people. Some units have a private outdoor garden and seating area accessed through a ranch slider from the main bedroom which is lovely. Staff are efficient, friendly and helpful. Recommended
