Régie Ottoman Hotel (Istanbul, Turkey) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"If you’ve got total recall of Istanbul’s geography and administration then you’ll understand what it means that Régie Ottoman is in the Sirkeci quarter of the Eminönü neighborhood of the city’s Fatih district. And if your grasp is a little looser, let us sum it up: you’re barely ten minutes’ walk from Topkapı Palace, the Hagia Sophia, Sultanahmet Mosque, or the Grand Bazaar. In other words: if the classic historical sites are what you’re after, then you’re in the right place." - Tablet Hotels

We had a great stay at the Régie Ottoman. The room was small but comfortable and had a nice view. The staff was fantastic. The guy who checked us in, who told me to call him “George” since he figured I probably couldn’t pronounce his Turkish name, was super helpful with our questions and restaurant recommendations. Breakfast was also excellent. They make fresh eggs, omelettes, and Turkish menemen, and besides regular coffee you can order cappuccinos, lattes, and other espresso drinks. If I could change one thing, it would be the bed. The mattress was pretty firm, which seems to be common at the hotels we stayed at in Turkey. It felt a little uncomfortable at first but we got used to it and it didn’t take away from our stay. I think an easy solution would be to offer pillow tops for guests that prefer a "cushier" bed. The location is perfect and the area around the hotel is fun and really easy to explore. The hotel also arranged our airport transfers & gave us great clear instructions on where to go, with pics and even a video. Very helpful after a long travel day. We’d definitely stay here again.

Very nice Hotel in quiet area but close to most tourist sites. |Hotel reception staff were very helpful especially when we were not sure how to get to some of the tourist sites and they were always courteous to us during our stay. |The breakfast at the hotel was excellent with a large choice of breakfast types available and the staff were always on hand to help you out. |Our room 208 was at the front of the building but was still quiet during the night and the blinds were great at keeping out the lights in the street allowing us to sleep well. Our room was spacious and the bed was very big and comfy. The bathroom was a good size and the shower was great with a good pressure. Our room was cleaned every day and the bedding and towels were also changed each day during our stay. The only negative we had about our room was the lack of a settee to sit on as we had a big desk and chair which took up a bit of the room and when your out all day its great to come back and relax.|The bar area was fine and the price of beer was reasonable and on a par with most other places, the only negative we could come up with was the music playlist which was not great as it was quite solemn and we would rather have had some turkish music. Apart from the desk in the room and music in the bar I would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of travelling to Istanbul. Thanks again to the staff for a great experience.

Regie Ottoman is in an excellent location. Close to major transport links and main attractions on the European side. In fact, I was able to go everywhere and come back in the afternoon to nap because of how convenient the location is. The hotel also comes with breakfast. It was good but I wish they let you opt out (take the cost out of the room charges). The food was ample and good quality but it means you don't get to go out and try Turkish breakfast without feeling like you're wasting money. The room was a decent size, not too small. But it was incredibly warm. And we're talking late December. There is no window in the loft room except the skylight which I couldn't figure out how to open. Regie is one of very few properties that has gym. While I appreciated it, the gym was very small. Four people working out in there and you already felt like you were climbing over each other and fighting over equipment. I also didn't see a water dispenser or sanitiser/wipes to clean up after you're done working out... Which means the equipment is probably not very sanitary. The hotel also has a restaurant which apparently was featured in the Michelin Guide. But they don't do ala carte, only a multi course tasting menu. I would have gone for it but the price is ridiculously high for a restaurant without so much as a view. I don't know if I'll stay here again, but at least from this stay I've learnt that the area is excellent and has lots of other properties available.

I am attaching a picture that shows our room. It is certainly not the expansive room in the picture they use to advertise the hotel. We spent $238 a night for a room they made out of a closet. We're stepping all over each other. In addition, the room had a slight sewage smell. When asked, of course, there were not other rooms available. We have no choice, we will have to stay here for the second night.||On the positive side, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in a very good spot - right in the hub of Old Town. The WIFI works well.

One of the best things about this hotel is that it is very quiet . Traffic is not allowed on the street so unlike the rest of very busy Istanbul, the street is totally quiet. Also, you cannot hear anything through the walls coming from the rooms next door. Be sure to get a room with a good view, some don’t have any view. The bed is super comfortable. You can refill the glass water bottle they give you and get ice at the bar downstairs. The staff is very nice. The rooms are starting to look a little tired and could be cleaner.

Google
The room is great and service good. The only set back is that there is not enough lighting. I guess they expect that the natural sunlight in the loft will be enough but no it’s not. At night I felt I was in a cave.

The air conditioning only operates at a single temperature, with no option to adjust.|I experienced issues with my reservation and received no response to messages or phone calls.|I booked a "superior" room, but it was significantly smaller than the advertised 30 square meters.|There was a water leak in the shower area.|Getting water at the gym was surprisingly difficult — I had to ask three or four times, and it took about 30 minutes to receive a 300ml bottle.|Overall, the service was disappointing. Unfortunately, I don’t recall staying at a hotel of this price range with such poor service.|Do not trust the photos.

Yelp
This is a great hotel if you want to be a tourist in Istanbul. It's walking distance to some of the biggest attractions such as Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and is surrounded by hundreds of restaurants and cafes. You also have a subway and tram stations nearby to get to anywhere in the city without sitting in traffic. Moreover, it's not a typical Hilton / Marriott / Hyatt - the building used to be an old tobacco factory and has beautiful features. There's also a nice restaurant, a sauna, and a gym onsite. The staff at the hotel was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Our concierge Gökhan was very helpful and made sure our stay was memorable and smooth. The housekeeping personnel did a wonderful job keeping our rooms clean and tidy. Only reason for 4 stars is that both rooms we booked were quite small and needed some minor maintenance which could have been proactively done prior to our arrival. Other than that, it was awesome and I'd stay here again!

Yelp
The boutique hotel is gorgeous. it's the staff at the reception desk that was the problem. My tip is to double check the type of room as I got stuck with a loft on the 4th floor (no elevator to that floor level) and the room had no window. I had booked it through my work portal for 6 nights and they charged me for the full amount when I checked in so was stuck otherwise I would have moved hotels due to poor quality of service. The hotel is centrally located in Old Town but for any small thing, the reception desk was not helpful from asking for restaurant recommendations to even asking if the restaurant in the same hotel was available, I was told I should go and check myself. The breakfast was pretty good but surprised by the surcharge for a Nescafe or even Turkish coffee. I would not recommend this hotel purely based on the staff that worked the reception desk, they ruined my experience but was there for work so barely had any down time.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that this hotel has been one of the finest properties with the best value, location and staff as I have experienced in my world travels. I am happy to recommend the Regie hotel to anyone planning to visit Istanbul; you will not be disappointed! From my experience (travelling as a couple), here's why we loved it: Staff: Gokhan and the entire staff here are fabulous (he is famous on TripAdvisor reviews for a reason!). They went above and beyond to answer all of my tourist-related questions prior to arrival and organized top-notch taxi transfer service from the airport which made the commute fast and easy. We ended up experiencing an unforeseen situation and they were beyond empathetic and flexible to meet our needs -- these are the times when you can truly tell if the people/company are authentic and caring --- and they are! Their hospitality truly made us feel so welcome in Turkey. Hotel: Rooms are very sophisticated and upscale; we had a standard room, so I can only imagine the superior suites! Everything was spotless and the bed was comfy. Breakfast was in a beautiful room and had a good variety on offer each day. Wish we would have had time to use the complimentary sauna downstairs! Location: Prime location within walking distance of all tourist sights in the Sultanahmet area. It was on a side lane of a popular street, making it easy to access, yet sound-proof from the city noise. We felt completely safe walking home at night from dinners to this location, which is super important. As a side note, I'd used Google Streetview to preview prior to booking and it was hard to get a true vibe of the area. I can attest that it is an excellent location. All in all, if we ever get the pleasure of visiting this marvelous city again, we will 100% be return guests at the Regie Ottoman.

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel. It is over 200 years old and used to be a tobacco factory. The exposed brick is gorgeous and the staff is really nice. The breakfast was huge and every dish we had we loved. The location is great, centrally located to walk to many major attractions. We stayed here at the beginning of our driving tour through Turkey and were going to stay in another hotel before we left, but we loved it so much that we booked it again.
