Hotel Regina Palace, a Design Boutique Hotel Stresa, Italy

"Hotel Regina Palace is a majestic Art Nouveau building offering refined classic-style interiors and a large garden with pool. It is right on the shore of Lake Maggiore, in Stresa. Rooms and common lounges are all decorated with antique furniture, rugs and historic chandeliers, all giving a sense of history and nobility. Rooms overlook either the garden or the lake and some also feature a spa bath. This 4-star hotel features a well-equipped wellness area, complete with a sauna, Turkish bath and indoor pool set in a grotto. Outside you will also find a tennis court and a furnished terrace by the pool. Liberty Restaurant serves local dishes in a very elegant dining room, while Charleston Restaurant specializes in a sophisticated cuisine. Its dining room has big windows overlooking Lake Maggiore and outdoor dining is possible during summer. The Regina Palace is 1969 feet from Stresa Train Station. The A26 motorway exit is a 10-minute drive away." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the suites with a beautiful view towards lago maggiore to get engaged and afterwards celebrate our engagement and we were excepting a beautiful weekend. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The services and the series of unpleasant situations left us with a bitter taste. Even the basics that you pay for, were missing. This might be a 4-star hotel on paper, but it truly feels like it deserves none. We’ve stayed in lower-rated places where respect, service, and care were much higher — and that says a lot. • Fridge fee: €5/day just to use the minibar fridge for our own two bottles. After signing the agreement for the full stay, we were still asked if we wanted a minibar refill. Communication between staff was almost non-existent. • Parking fee: €20/day, even if you’re a guest of the hotel. (Not even a discount for hotel guests) • Restaurant service: practically nonexistent. Our table (in the middle of the room) was ignored while the waiter focused on the nearby tables, even though there were only 4 occupied tables in total. Two glasses of wine were forgotten. The tiramisu was a disappointment — just one soaked biscuit. The food was good, but expected more from an a la carte restaurant. • Room cleanliness: far below expectations. We found packaging on the floor, dust and lint, dirty mirrors, and even mold in the bathroom. For a suite, this was shocking. • Breakfast: very limited, with hardly any variety (mostly just tomatoes as “vegetables”). Breakfast ends at 10:00, and even though people were still eating, everything was cleared away immediately — you couldn’t even get water. • Other issues: uncomfortable pillows, rude staff, and a general lack of some guests. I don’t know if that was because of the appearance, the fact that we were young or they are simply rude because that’s how they feel. On the positive side, the room itself was aesthetically beautiful, we had an amazing view over Lake Maggiore, the pool was large and pleasant, and the music around it was relaxing. The cappuccino is very tasty. Overall, though, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve had. Definitely not worth the price, especially for such a special occasion. I am actually sorry that the hotel (staff and everything included) are not inclined to treat people equally and with respect. Will not be staying here again, and I am not recommending this hotel to anyone.

We spent a few days at this hotel and unfortunately were not convinced in the end. I’ll start with the negative points first: 1. We booked an economy room for over €200 per night. In the room description it says that "some of these rooms" have a velux window. Unfortunately, we ended up with exactly such a room. The room was very small and there was no view over the courtyard at all. On top of that, the room was quite outdated (scratched walls, barely any water coming from the shower, cobwebs on the ceiling, etc.). Now, I can’t really complain about having a velux window since it was in the description. However, after a couple of days I went to reception and asked if we could switch to another room for the remaining nights (an economy room with garden view, as described on the hotel’s website). I was told that such a room doesn’t exist, and that economy always means velux window. The description clearly says “some of the rooms”—so either the room description is clearly wrong and misleading, or they just didn’t want to give me a better room. I found this very disappointing. For the price, definitely not recommendable. 2. Breakfast was good, but I really enjoy scrambled eggs, and these were made from powder, not from fresh eggs. That was a bit surprising. 3. The parking garage is sufficient, but considering the room rates and the type of guests (very expensive cars), it’s surprising that there is no surveillance. Now for the positive points: 1. The hotel is very centrally located. You can easily reach Stresa on foot, several sights are directly accessible by boat, and Milan can be reached by train in just an hour. 2. Breakfast has a very wide selection. 3. The outdoor pool and indoor facilities are very well done. Overall, I would rate the hotel as “satisfactory.” The biggest downside for us was the room, which was really poor value for such a high price. A good location alone cannot justify these rates.

Walking into the hotel foyer made us go "wow". What a beautiful entrance to a beautiful hotel. The location is second to none, just over the road from the lake, with a lovely garden separating the hotel from the road. The staff are superb - each one of them, from reception to dining room to housekeeping, all intent on making our stay truly enjoyable. Food was plentiful and tasty, with a good range of choice for dinner - and the service was excellent. The bedrooms - we had 3 single ones - were not as sumptuous or grand as the public rooms, but were comfortable and quiet and had every amenity that we could need. The AC worked well and there was adequate storage room for one guest. The bedrooms were on the small side but, as we were only there to sleep, their size was not particularly relevant. There are large gardens at the back with plenty of shade under trees and sunbeds - and, much to my delight, lots of grassed areas. I hate concrete! The pool is a good size and looked inviting but we never used it as we were too busy enjoying the delights of Stresa and Lago Maggiore. A perfect holiday in every way.

This hotel is at the top of it's game. The whole experience was 100%. The place is in a great location, kept up to top standard and is a pleasure to visit. The cleanliness is second to none, great food, staff and air con. We stayed in a garden view room and the view is stunning and far cheaper than a lake view. We took our own kettle as we knew the rooms weren't provided with one. You have to pay 5 euros for them to empty the mini bar if you want to use it as a fridge. They provide pool towels at the pool which cover the whole bed. The pool is easy to just walk into, gradually slopes, no ladders. The outside toilets have showers, lockers, changing rooms and hairdryers in them. The gardens are beautiful and have plenty of sunbeds and a bar with lunchtime snacks. There was a piano in the lounge being played most nights and dancers one evening. We loved our stay here and you felt special. The staff were so professional and served you in the evenings. A good choice for each course and plentiful. Breakfast was buffet with a massive selection. The attention to detail did not go unnoticed by us. A pleasure to stay in this hotel in a class of it's own.

Wow! This hotel is incredibly gorgeous. Decor is belle epoch with lots of ornate ceilings and beautiful workmanship on all the walls. We had a huge suite, including a cute little kitchenette area. Our balcony was gigantic, and could seat six people. We were overlooking the lake, which was a fabulous view. The grounds are meticulously maintained, with gorgeous flower plantings. Service was always excellent, and we had really good breakfast from the lavish breakfast buffet.

For the small number of people who submitted slightly negative reviews I am disappointed for them for not enjoying the same experiences that we had. Firstly, the staff. From those on reception, in the restaurants and the pool areas , they were always friendly and helpful. The breakfast selection was first class and if you couldn’t find something you liked then I really don’t know what you’re looking for. As for our evening meals they were always excellent with consistent attentive service from all the waiting staff . It might have been the time of year ( end of August beginning of September) but the outside pool was never crowded with lots of beds available. As for the indoor pool , steam room and sauna in the wonderful ‘grotto’ well that was quite simply superb . While taking on board some reviews relating to noises in adjoining rooms , it’s true you could often hear people, but it wasn’t a problem at all for us . We had a tremendous week .

Regina palace is one of the best hotels we have had stayed over the years we visited Italy. The staff at the reception and the breakfast were professional and attentive. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, with lots of natural light. For us, we had the interior garden and pool view, pleasant to see the mountains when open the windows. Gorgeous belle-époque bar and game room, with classical music playing. The spa on the ground floor is a treat, modern and clean. The pool is open during long hours. We will definitely come back!

Good points first, beautiful hotel in a lovely location (grounds and interior). Very good food on a half board basis. Not so good points 1. The mini bar in the room was a "smart" mini bar that automatically charged you if items were removed. This meant the mini bar was not available for personal use unless you advised the hotel and then paid 5 euros a day for the privilege (how stingy can you get, and this was poorly advised) I witnessed several unsuspecting guests arguing about this at checkout 2. There was no entertainment of any sort arranged for guests, not even a simple quiz 3. our room on the fourth floor was quite noisy from adjoining rooms, but to be fair we are early to bed early to rise type guests 4. the upper floors are only served by hotel lifts which are pretty busy, so be prepared to visit all the floors of the hotel and get to know the lift interior quite well.|In summary - A lovely hotel in a lovely place, but I felt they did not need to overcharge for drinks and certain items (mini bars for example) that should be provided and included with good grace.

Yelp
This was a totally amazing place to stay! Elegantly done! Our room had a beautiful view of the lake and Switzerland. Great service! The buffet was elegant it was like being at wedding reception. The best part was getting a pitcher of coffee in the morning. It's hard to find a place where you can get a whole cup of coffee and not a shot of espresso.

The spa is a great addition to your trip if your looking to relax, with a nice deep tissue massage, and then relax in the cave pool, hot tubs and saunas.

Yelp
It is beautiful here! I feel like I have stepped back in time to the 1700's Baroque style. The pub is very fancy for happy hour. The bells ring outside on the hour and half hour. The pool is lovely, on on our sunny day, it is calling my name. This is a sweet spot to explore, inside and out.

Yelp
we have a busines trip with a meeting in this hotel in stresa. some rooms are very nice and big. but others are small and nearly without a window. but every room has it's own bath with whirlpool. the breakfast and also the other meals were delicate. the hotel is near to the lago maggiore and it have a nice garden with lot of colourful plants.
