10 Up-and-coming Destinations Around the World For LGBTQIA+ Travelers

"This family-friendly, seaside Delaware town is pure Americana, and well established on the radars of queer people living in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City. But Rehoboth's ease of accessibility coupled with well-rounded character and positive word-of-mouth poises it to bring in travelers from beyond the Eastern seaboard in years to come. “LGBTQIA+ travelers can find more flexibility and options for accommodations in Rehoboth Beach, compared to other gay-friendly destinations,” says Bryan Barbieri of EOS Hospitality, which operates the town’s premier luxury hotel option, the Bellmoor Inn & Spa. “The supply of hotels and short term housing rentals is enough to support the demand which allows for travelers to have options when it comes to budget, style, and a decision to splurge or save,” he adds. Queer haunts of note that are at their peak in the summer include Blue Moon, Aqua Grill, Purple Parrot, and Diego’s Bar, but the destination is also working hard towards extending its season well past summer and giving LGBTQIA+ travelers opportunities to visit in different seasons, Barbieri adds. “Those who have done Carnival in Provincetown or Fantasy Fest in Key West should definitely not miss the Sea Witch Festival in October, which includes costumes, parades, and parties that everyone should experience at least once in their life.”" - Travel + Leisure Editors

This beach is beautiful! Clean and quiet in the mornings especially before 9am. Occasional birds and dolphins. Beach runs parallel with the boardwalk where in a short two minute walk from the sand you have access to food, shops, hotels, bathrooms, changing areas, arcade and Funland!

Google
Very nice beach! We came on an overcast day do it wasn't as busy as normal. Very clean with plenty of life guards and places to rent chairs/umbrellas. The water is frigid, but if you're like me, that won't stop you haha! We loved having the boardwalk run the length of the beach.

Google
Great relax spot for a quick getaway!! Nice town with a tiny boardwalk. You need a day to get thru the endless cute shops on the main street. Don't miss the shops hidden down narrow pathways. The inadequate parking is a pain. Be prepared to walk. Wide variety of food from Five Guys to Subway to pricier restaurants. Public restrooms are clean; no changing in there though. And the wide beach is always saving you a seat. I love this place. Get there!

Google
A great beach, but the waves can and will take you down if you're not vigilant. It's also an exceptionally clean beach since glass bottles and smoking were banned on the beach and most parts of the boardwalk. Just keep in mind that the beach officially closes at one in the morning, and camping is not allowed on the beach. However, there are plenty of campgrounds within 5-10 miles of Rehoboth.

Google
Best free beach. Family friendly, [You got that homey feeling] here. Located east of the Atlantic ocean, great place to people watch, sit back and relax, laugh and eat, yes, many food choices and if you like sweets, check out the candy kitchen, and free concerts.... A high desire spot for tourist as well as the locals. It was so crowded people were so friendly, what a great experience.

Sherin Joy

Google
Awesome beach 🏖 well maintained. Nice place to spend time and get a sunbathe. Some times it can be a little crowded especially on peak seasons and weekends. Wear a mask and be safe. A decent public restrooms is also there near the boardwalk. There are plenty of restaurants near the boardwalk for you to enjoy.

olivia .

Google
really pretty and the broadwalk pretty too if you come early around 12-5 its gonna be really packed and hot but if you want less people come around 6 and later .

Chad Hughes

Google
Way too overcrowded and overrated. I would never recommend or come back to this place. There is zero parking for the beach, you have to park in town. The traffic in the whole area is a joke. The person in charge of public safety needs to be fired. If you want to visit a nice beach area I suggest going south to Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head. This place is a joke and waste of your vacation fund. They also have an annoying drone that keeps going back and forth over the beach which is super annoying. Don't be fooled by the rating on Google.

Yelp
City of Rehoboth Beach has been around since its founding in 1873. Its mile long boardwalk is lined with wide dunes, beach and Atlantic Ocean on the seaward, and restaurants, shops, hotels and amusements on the landward. Locals claim it is the "Nation's Summer Capital," but this might be challenged by numerous other vestigial surf and sand spots on the east, west and gulf coasts. Still, it's okay if they want to brag; we all do. As Jersey Shore folk for decades, we were very pleasantly surprised by how nice Rehoboth Beach was. It has a seductive human scale that is very appealing. Boardwalk easily walked end to end, well preserved natural beauty in dunes, wide beach and pounding surf, and better than decent snack options all along the way. Even Kohl's Soft Ice Cream at three locations. Our hotel was 100' from the boards, and our second floor balcony allowed us to see and hear what was going on without being overwhelmed. We spent dusk walking the beach witnessing amazing pastel colors at the wide horizon. Seagulls wheeling overhead and divebombing us looking for handouts. It was all quite wonderful. The businesses we visited were energized, friendly and reasonable priced for a vacation town. Sure, there was some honky tonk, but not too much, and it all mixed in well. Cape Henlopen State Park is just to the north, with even more dunes, beach and remains of a World War II military base. Too, the homes in North Shore Estates are incredible and incredibly expensive. I think we were seduced by Rehoboth Beach. We're not complaining.

Yelp
Had a great family vacation here. Get some water ice on the boardwalk!! Tons of shops and places to eat right off the beach. Had so much fun and will be back soon!

Yelp
Rehoboth Beach Delaware is one of the most fascinating beaches and beach towns in the U.S. Having visited multiple times over the years, I am never disappointed. This is a place that creates lasting memories... a lifetime of memories. My Wife and I had our first visit together here for our honeymoon, and over the last quarter century have returned, and returned and returned! First off, Rehoboth offers a vast flat sandy beach that gives you anything from walking the beach, lounging under umbrellas, swimming, light surfing and boating - maybe some fishing thrown in. It has the best and longest of boardwalks south of Atlantic City presenting everyone with the expected junk and fun eats anywhere. Cotton candy, fish tacos, snow cones, popcorn and amusements. There are Italian restos galore, but you can't go without getting seafood with the myriads of styles of crab, shrimp, fish and you name it. Whether you're into Bob Evans, Friendly's or Cracker Barrel, or more sophisticated and tasty bites at Victoria's or down-to-earth at Rehoboth Diner the options and varieties are huge! This intimate village-like small-town has done an exceptional job of keeping modernity at bay in the sense of its unique style yet with up-to-date conveniences. With a population of barely 1200 residents, it still does not eschew its origins from when the town was founded in 1873 with its nostalgic homes, excellent water quality, village vibe all has contributed to 5-Star ratings. But the beach itself is the main draw for us. The Mid-Atlantic offers very little of homey beaches, old fashioned and traditional conveniences, creature comforts and elegance. Rehoboth Beach, to us, is in the Top Ten beach destinations in the country. Enjoy and relax should be this town's motto!

Yelp
As frequent beachgoers who have visited various types and sizes of beaches, we found this one to be overly crowded due to its proximity to the Rehoboth boardwalk. With such a short boardwalk, everyone is packed in like sardines. There's no room for a wagon or cart to haul your belongings, and the strict no-tent policies are clearly posted throughout. To top it off, we even spotted a shark--definitely more danger than I need on vacation. Seriously, head down to Dewey Beach instead!

Yelp
Review from 2018. This beach is known for having cleaner sand. The sand was close to white. But in terms of a boardwalk..there isn't much. There are some stands with the usual funnel cake and other fried food. And there is a mini theme park with an arcade, merry-go-round, and haunted house. But the rides are all pretty small scale. No roller-coasters or ferris wheel. The parking situation kinda sucks (at least when I went). You have to buy a parking pass from their visitor center. And for whatever reason at the time they only accepted cash...cash only in 2018?? Luckily there was an ATM without any fees close by. Overall: come to this beach if you want a cleaner beach experience with a little bit of board walk.

Yelp
Had a 2-day road trip to visit Rehoboth and Dewey Beach! There is paid parking available around the beach. For the two days I was here, I did not have an issue with parking. Parking costs $12 for 4 hours. I went in June, and it was quite chilly! Part of the day was raining and the water/sand was cold. I recommend bringing a jacket. We were on the beach for about a total of 8 hours, and it was definitely fun to just feel the sand in between my toes (#CaliforniaGirl) and hear the relaxing sound of the waves. The beach was clean, and I did not notice any litter on the actual beach. There is also plenty of entry points into the boardwalk. The boardwalk has food, bars, games, and mini shops. On a prior visit, I ended up buying some pants for $1, so there are definitely steals in the area! Sidenote: If any of the food you bring is uncovered and you step away for a few minutes, seagulls will notoriously flock there!

Yelp
Rehoboth Beach is one of many beaches along Delaware's coast on the Atlantic Ocean. All beaches often rank high in water quality. A few things to note about Rehoboth Beach after visiting during the off-season during the winter: 1) Beach: It's a long beach kept clean. During the off season, locals can be seen walking along the beach for hours or working out along the beach and on the wooden planks that dip into the water. The waves are beautiful. 2) Boardwalk: It's an almost 150-year-old boardwalk with all the things during the main season from arcades to doughnuts to ice cream. When we went during the winter, most shops were closed. 3) Access: There are many entry points along the boardwalk, making it easy to come and go from the beach.

Yelp
We loved visiting the beach at Rehoboth Beach. The parking situation was pretty good in mid-September -you have to pay a daily fee ($10 for non residents like us) and it was a very manageable walk to the clean, gorgeous sandy beach. We saw lots of families, kids digging for crabs, a guy fishing, and a pair of synchronized swimming dolphins bobbing up and down in the water. There is a very cool boardwalk with food and souvenir vendors, and lots of stores and shopping on the streets perpendicular to the boardwalk.
google avatar

Ariana S.

Yelp
My favorite beach I have ever been to for so many reasons! It is beautiful, spacious, and never too crowded. Not a ton of kids and families crowding the beach. There is tons of easy beach access street parking. It is stunning with peaceful vibes and a nice cool breeze at all times. It is everything you need it to be, a true oasis. If I had to choose a beach to live on, this would be it. I have never felt as relaxed and stress free as I do here.
google avatar

Melissa B.

Yelp
Now keep in mind we were in Rehobath Beach during off season so it was very dead, peaceful and quiet. But, it was too dead for me to want to even return during peak season. The town is lined up on each side of the street with parking in the middle. There is a gazebo near the beach. There is a boardwalk but nothing major
google avatar

Emory L.

Yelp
Overcrowded now that New Yorkers have invaded. Awful parking and traffic. Takes an hour to drive 10 miles and back. Boardwalk is dirty and sketchy.
google avatar

Tricia G.

Yelp
I had never been to Rehoboth (I went to college for a few classes in Wilmington) b/f this past weekend. I live in South Jersey and frequent Ocean City, Atlantic City (nighttime is better than the daytime) and some others. The set up here reminds me most of Sea Isle City, especially how the boardwalk is situated. Sand at Rehoboth seems more course, and it's a little bit darker in color. There was a nice crowd, and a good amount of folks were wearing their masks even on the beach. (Most were wearing them on the boards). The boardwalk is pretty small, but the surrounding stores are really neat and unique. If you take the ferry over from Cape May, it's a more special experience It think, although it made me a bit nauseous . . .
google avatar

Angel H.

Yelp
This is the best beach ever for family, friends, lovers, just about anyone! I enjoy myself every time I come here. I've come with friends and family, they all enjoy it. The water is always cold but the beach is relaxing and fun at the same time. I could definitely come here several times each year. The good food and the outlets nearby are the best!
google avatar

Lurine J.

Yelp
I am only dinging them a star because there are bathrooms on the beach. Not that I saw anyway I like this area the Parking is plentiful and this beach has a fantastic boardwalk! There are also some very beautiful homes along the beach as well, it's always interesting to see the modern homes along the beach that look as if no one lives in them.
google avatar

Renee D.

Yelp
I've been to Rehoboth Beach twice before. Once was by car and we were able to find parking without issue mainly because it was an uncrowded, pre-season weekday. But as others have mentioned there is only one long stretch of metered parking that loops around. One way in and one way out. All else around this beach enclave is residential. There is a solution and I highly recommend it because there is a very nice boardwalk here and lots of great food. Delaware's bus service, Dart, has a Beach Bus that runs all summer on the weekend and connects with two Park & Rides where you can board a shuttle for a short ride to the beach. You don't have to pay at the Lewes P&R but it's 10.00 at the Rehoboth one but they give you free bus passes or something like that. Check the website. It may inconvenience you if you're accustomed to bringing all manner of beach supplies but it's pretty easy to score a chair and an umbrella once you're there.
google avatar

Jahnay M.

Yelp
First time visit to Rehoboth Easter weekend! Of course the area was busy with residents and visitors. The parking nearby all of the shops were pretty much taken which is to be expected but there's ample parking on the blocks that are free in the off-season. Plenty of area on the beach to choose from. Pet-friendly, family approved and child friendly! Nice beach. We enjoyed our time and would come back again if we are in town!
google avatar

Yelp
PARKING SCAM ALERT!! Long story short, don't park in backwards. You will receive a $50 fine. The city should be shamed of themselves with their tiny little sign. There were maybe 5-6 cars besides me backed in. Only reason the city does is to to make more money! There was a huge delivery truck in the street and I really had no choice but to back in. I paid the meter and come back to a $50 ticket! I walked around to see if there were any signs and I admit yea there was but really small under the HUGE PAY HERE SIGN! Nobody will see it! Why not while I am feeding the meter it should say "make sure you are not backed in, you will receive a $50 fine". Just a bunch of BS and city should be ashamed of themselves for scamming people visiting your beach.
google avatar

Karie F.

Yelp
DISABLED PEOPLE WATCH OUT - if you have a parking hang tag, don't cover it with a handicap parking hang tag. You will get a ticket, and if you appeal it, they will judge against you - and charge you the court cost. UNFAIR. I suggested that their city-isssued hang tag include a warning for disabled tag holders. There's currently no warning. UNFAIR TO GIVE ME A TICKET WHEN MY HANGTAG WAS PRESENT AND VISIBLE.

Yelp
I love Rehoboth beach. It's one of the quintessential beach experiences in my mind. It's got an amazing boardwalk, decent waves, great shops, good food, Funland rides, and basically embodies the Coney Island style beach experience that you hear about and see in the movies, but within an easy drive from DC. It's just kind of magic. That said, it can get _busy_, and I mean crazy busy. When we come with our family, we try to take advantage of the fact that our kids don't sleep in to hit the beach _early_, like be on the beach before 8a if you can. That way you can get a few hours on the beach before it's so packed that you can't see anything but people. Then we leave the beach to get lunch and hide from the heat either in our hotel or at Funland for a while. It's also a great place to come during the off season with way fewer crowds, just make sure you check what's open since a lot of the places aren't open year-round.
google avatar

Leanne L.

Yelp
So many sights to see--beautiful views, great restaurants, fun shops and much more. We've made many happy memories over the years.
google avatar

Yelp
43/100 What is not to love about this beautiful beach on the eastern shore? I pick this beach over OC any day. It's less crowded. Less foolery here at night. No drunkards stumbling into the street acting like a fool or loud house parties. My friends and I love coming here all time. It's only 2.25 hours away if we leave early.. rte:50, 404 and 1 and you're here!! My pros about this beach: it's more quiet, less traffic, beach isn't crowded, less youngins at night, a nice boardwalk, good eats; (Nicolas, Grottos, Fishers Popcorn, Dolles, Candy Kitchen. Some of these places you can find in OC but I feel this place is better. Parking can be hassle if your a cheapstake. You have to pay for a daily permit if your not staying here long. Just go to City Hall. After Labor Day, you don't have to worry about paying! We stayed at my family's condo so parking wasn't an issue. The beach is more clean here. No signs of jellyfish. Yasss!! There's other Delaware beaches near by to explore: Lewes, Dewey and Bethany. The hotel rates are a lot cheaper here than OC and no sales tax in Delaware!! Yasss!! Cons: none: when reality hits and you have to leave this beautiful beach ):

Yelp
I have to give an extra star after coming here for a quick weekend getaway as a family. With an 8 month old this is perfect- he can't spend all day at the beach but he enjoys the sand. And he loves the water. It seems like it's a fun trip with slightly older Kiddos but it was also easy with an infant. I love the more family atmosphere at places so we will probably be back. Truth be told I hate American beaches and hate East coast the most but my son enjoyed it so I'll probably return for him.
google avatar

Miyah R.

Yelp
This is the closest to me in Delaware and I usually make an annual trip here. A lot more cleaner and family friendly vibes than Jersey. I came on an off day and the beach was very crowded, but everyone did maintain social distancing. Must wear mask while on the boardwalk. Not as big as most attractions, but there is a little something for everyone in terms of shops and activities.
google avatar

Cherie R.

Yelp
This really is a lovely beach. We trekked here from Ohio in search of a beach we could drive to without the four and six year old kids exploding in the car. The sand is soft, the water warm, the waves not too crazy, and a very pleasant boardwalk. The lifeguards were very attentive. I was pleasantly surprised by the family friendly atmosphere - so different from other beaches were it seems to be party central. My husband now wants to retire here.

Yelp
10/16/20 Rohoboth, Beathony and Ocean City Maryland. Fun places to travel too aside from going I to the ocean. I haven't been to Rohoboth in a long time. There was beach house my stepmother own here at one point in time, but has since sold it. Nevertheless, the boardwalk was enjoyable, but I never bought a souvenir here. The little amusement park is good for little kids with a lot of energy. The only downside is how fast one might use up the tickets for each attraction. The ocean I found to be okay, but nothing special if you want to swim in the water. The lack of waves are pisspoor and if you go in the water, you will be up to your nice right quick. Aside from that, you won't see to many large buildings around the beach because of the ocean codes. There is only one big building for people to stay in and this place was able to get this building up before the codes were put into place. I have forgotten the name of this place, but it is where my stepmom use to live. Wait, it's called the Sea Colony. I have been to two oceans this year. It might be nice to go to a third beach in the same year. I will have to give this some thought.
google avatar

Ria P.

Yelp
Enjoyed our stay at Rehoboth, nice broad walk with rentals, plenty of shops, Funland, arcades and food. Parking is tough, so be prepared to be patient, but plenty of decent dining options. And very family friendly, no drunkards at the beach like Virginia Beach, what more could you want.

Nikolas F.

Yelp
One of the worst beaches, rather go to Dewey, Bethany or Ocean city down the street. Don't waste your time here very unwelcoming
google avatar

Joy W.

Yelp
Rehoboth is this dreamy beach in the middle of nowhere. After having recently been across the entire northeast coast, it felt like a different world. Suddenly the sun was warmer, the sand softer, the bikinis smaller, and the water warmer. This is Delaware, right?! What a piece of summer heaven! Dewey and Rehoboth Beaches are back to back with Rehoboth having a mile long boardwalk. It is lined with every kitschy beach store your Florida Nana could ever get her fake, red-fingernailed hands on. You know that seashell beach sign that says, "Life is Better at the Beach?" Yeah, Nana is buying it. And she's putting it above that plastic covered couch she's had for 30 years, despite living inland and nowhere near a beach. While kitschy and ridiculous, you too will find yourself engulfed in the needs of that Puka shell necklace. You then turn to face Nana with your new sign that says, "It's five o'clock somewhere" with painted seagulls drinking cocktails on it and you both giggle. Your Nana's little monster and that's ok, because baby, you're at the beach! You can worry about those terrible souvenirs when you get home. For now, breathe it in. Enjoy it! Get that oversized blowup flamingo, the overpriced sunscreen, and have fun! This is REHOBOTH! It's honestly no wonder people flock to this area for the sunny fix. You lose all inhibitions and let loose. There is plenty of handicapped parking, access, and facilities. The streets are adorable and the boardwalk is fun. If this is a destination you are looking forward to, plan ahead and prepare. This is one busy, and playful area.
google avatar

Ellie D.

Yelp
If I knew I could review the beach, I would have done it a long time ago. Delaware beaches blow "the shore" away. No beach tag needed! Get your tax-free treats at DOLLES, go shopping at the best outlets, pizza, seafood, and the place that changed the way EVERYONE brews beer (Dogfish). It doesn't have to be summertime to LOVE the beach in Delaware!!!
google avatar

Star P.

Yelp
Of corse I'm biased because I've grown up here, but I love this place. Yes I have nostalgia for Rehoboth beach, but it's nice to go out on the simple east coast, and have some classic fun. Rehoboth is super family friendly, so the crowd is very diverse. It's nice to have some simple fun, without the overbearing activities and attractions at bigger beaches. Rehoboth is such a relaxing environment to be in. I recommend giving this underrated gem a try.
google avatar

Liz B.

Yelp
We were staying at a nearby camping resort and came to the beach for the day. It was Father's Day weekend during the pandemic so we were hoping it wouldn't be CRAZY....well we were wrong. If there would have been rafters at the beach, people would have been swinging from them. We went at prime-time but we didn't expect that many people....again, during a pandemic. We had to set up close to the water, which is fine, but man people were on top of each other. I have to ask myself, if it is like this during a pandemic, what is it like during normal times? Or maybe people were just desperate for something to do. We only stayed an hour and then packed up and headed out of dodge.

Yelp
This a clean and pleasant beach with some good vegetarian lunch and dinner options not too far from the beach. The downsides: 1. Long drive from D.C. 2. Insane traffic on the way there and back. 3. Parking can be difficult to find within a few blocks of the beach. There's a cute shop called "Scandinavian Occasion" in Rehoboth and I enjoyed browsing through their Scandinavian jewelry.
google avatar

Dee M.

Yelp
I'd never been to the north shore. I can me out out here after a work trip to spend a weekend just chilling. The sand was decently fine. The water in the fall was on the cool side, but still nice. In the morning I went for a run down the beach. I brought my camera and stopped periodically to take photos. There was a low fo gin the distance that I ran into and it was peaceful. I highly recommend a morning run on the beach. Defo go before 8 if you can. That way you will have the beach practically to yourself. Later in the afternoon, after beer tasting at Dogfishhead I went back to the beach for some relaxation. I brought a sarong and a book and spent a few hours on the beach. I read, watched kids play in the surf, listened to the seagulls, and feel the soft breeze on my face.
google avatar

Donald P.

Yelp
We had a fun time at the beach. Sand was clean, and pretty busy, but not packed (the weekend after Labor Day). Surf was pretty rough but the kids were perfectly content playing at the waters edge and in the sand. There was also some kind of sand castle competition with sand castles and this really nice tribute to 9/11. There were convenient foot faucets near the entrance to the beach, and handicap parking nearby as well ($2/hour 10-hr max), so be sure to bring lots of quarters. Great fun for the family.

Yelp
Love Rehoboth Beach! My husband and i travel there a couple times a year. Family friendly northern beach vibe. Shops are fabulous and the dinning experience is one of the biggest reasons we go! the Sand is white and soft .. the homes for rent range from cozy and quaint or big and bold. no need to drive if your near mainstreet, we ride our bikes or walk everywhere! the only downside in my opinion is having to leave! DFarrell
google avatar

Yelp
I heart the beach! On the east coast this is one of my favorite beaches. Its a long stretch and nice sand. Nice water. Boardwalk. Umbrellas and chairs for rent... Just in case you forgot. Reasonable price too! Parking is by meter... But there's a call in for that. Very convenient. Parking can be a challenge... But off the beaten path... Its a little bit easier. This beach is generally very clean and pleasant. Lifeguards every so often. And generally jus nice and a good time... The board walk and main drag have plenty of restaurants and shops. So if its too hot there are plenty of places with AC to stop in... Lots of ice Cream and frozen custard... Yum!
google avatar

Matan O.

Yelp
Amazing beach! Really quiet, and not too crowded. The waves are shallow and nice, never really strong. Young kids will love playing with their pails, and playing with the sand, to make sandcastles. There were a lot of toddlers when I went today. The place is super relaxing, especially in the water, because like I said before, there were no waves, or the waves are very shallow. You cannot bring dogs to this beach, FYI. Overall, super relaxing beach.
google avatar

Laurie H.

Yelp
I was there when it was still closed down for the winter, and still think it's 4 Stars! Lots of Boardwalk, beautiful sand, food, and cool shops. I will have to go back when it's all open, because they touristy spots looked really cool. We looked for shells, the sand is soft, and there wasn't a lot of trash around, so I went barefoot. It was freezing, but worth it! The parking meters aren't on in the off season, so parking was free. Opens back up when it's Spring, hoping I'll be back then!

Lori W.

Yelp
So glad we decided not to cancel! Definitely different this year but worth the trip.

Yelp
Lynam beach umbrellas and chairs, we had GREAT SERVICE this week from Evan (off of New Castle).

Yelp
We visited Rehoboth Beach in early April 2017. It was too cold to go into the water, but we had fun walking on the beach, as well as the boardwalk. I'll separately review the boardwalk, but the beach itself was clean and lovely. I've heard that Ocean City, MD (about an hour away) gets quite crowded, and that Dewey Beach (which we also visited, and which is located about 30 minutes from here) can get rowdy with its college vibe, but that Rehoboth Beach is more family-oriented. We both really enjoyed the beach, the boardwalk running along it, and the places we visited nearby. Parking is convenient as well (there are lots at the end of the boardwalk). I would certainly love to visit Rehoboth Beach again in the future, especially when the weather is warmer than when we visited.
google avatar

Stephen S.

Yelp
Not what it used to be- don't bring your teenagers. Rehoboth used to be laid back, but now they have a lot of rules, and enforce them aggressively. During my stay here: I saw two moms with babies have to take down baby tents. Rehoboth will not allow shades for babies, of kids- unless it is an umbrella, or measures less than 36" x 36." Anyone you has a baby, or wants to breastfeed- knows 36" x 36" is too small. Saw beach patrol require multiple kids have to take down sand castles because they were too big, too deep- apparently a sand castle moat is "dangerous." My neighbor was ticketed for taking trash out too early, and then ticketed for taking too long to put it back. Saw a family arrive, all happy. The teens grabbed their skateboards to skate on an empty residential street- but a neighbor called the cops ? Guess what- it is illegal to skateboard in Rehoboth. So- not a sleepy town anymore- more of an uptight enclave of old grumpy people.

Yelp
Lovely place with beach ambience and smells and shops and foods... enjoyed a weekend of mixed with abs play. Haven't been to Rehoboth in decades. It was lovelier than I remembered, with great little community neighborhoods and everything a beachside and boardwalk needs to be called a fantastic location.

Yelp
As a South Jerseyy girl, recently took my first trip to Rehobeth, DE. Great place! The perfect blend of everything-- alcohol--young and old. Great place. Great shops, great prices. So many great places to eat! Everyone is so nice! Awesome bike trails to Lewes and back! It reminds me a lot of Key West too!

Yelp
It seemed ok but I'm biased as I used to live in Hawaii. The beach was packed!! The boardwalk is like all boardwalks - high prices and tourist junk. Cute place and only a 3 hr drive from No. VA

Yelp
Great family vacation spot and not uncomfortably crowded. I loved the large waves, even in the shallow part! Nice long boardwalk with shops and junk food places to grab a bite. More restaurants and cool shops just off the boardwalk, on Rehoboth Avenue. Can't wait to go back for more fun in the sun!

Yelp
Pretty cool! For some reason we liked Bethany Beach more, but this one was still super fun :) It has that big statue that's on all the postcards and apparently pretty famous :) Very crowded, a bit similar to Bethany Beach but I would say (surprisingly) it seemed more family-oriented. Lots of little kids and families. I've heard it has great gay nightlife during the night though!

Yelp
The town is a nice vacation spot with an inclusive and interesting culture. Some nice places to stay and to eat. The actual beach is underwhelming. I've come to this town and left virtually without setting foot on the beach. It's very crowded on anything close to in-season, and the artificially maintained sand is easy on the feet but static and uninteresting. I much prefer the state park beaches nearby; quieter, more interesting wildlife, and they're bigger. They don't allow pets in season, which makes sense but is kind of a pain. Their lifeguarding staff is quite gung-ho; you'll see them training during the hours when no one should be doing anything athletic. So at least you'll be safe.

Yelp
I love visiting rehoboth beach because of will and Lindsay Albanese are the most fun people in Delaware. And wills mom Diane sets the standard for house parties. She is the sweetest lady with the best cooking skills east of the pacific. I can't wait to go back! Thank you Albanese family You're the best
