Wife and I were visiting Denver, so we stopped in to exchange her hiking pack, as she had her eyes on another. This is a really cool looking store front. The only one that we have been to so far that competes is the one we stopped at in Seattle. Nice store, plenty of stuff to look at, friendly staff, and free parking under 90 mins (i believe). Stop in if your in need for outdoor gear and in the area.

Google
Where to start, the atrocious parking? No let’s start with the snarky staff. Have to agree with many other reviews, the employees have attitude and are condescending or plain out rude. We looked online before and saw pets were allowed and have seen dogs in this location. When we went in, at least 5 employees saw us with our two leashed dogs. We even talked to an employee about where to find dog products and they didn’t say anything to us about our dogs. Each of the employees we walked by stared or made a comment under their breath about our dogs. I tried to not think much of it because not one of them, including the one WE TALKED TO WITH OUR DOGS, said a word about no pets being allowed. Then in the line, in front of 4 other customers in line and 3 staff members who were ringing up even more customers, we were confronted and told, with attitude, that our dogs are allowed and it’s only service pets are permitted. Let’s be clear, this is NOT a complaint about only letting service animals in the store but HOW THE STAFF TREATED US in this whole situation. 1. Why does my Google search say pets are allowed if they’re not? And then you treat customers like crap for believing that is true? 2. Is your staff trained on how to communicate to customers? Why did no employee respectfully or privately tell us about the dogs before we were around a bunch of people at the register? We talked to an employee with our leashed dogs in the store while looking for the dog section. 3. Why not have MULTIPLE and BIGGER signs saying only service pets are allowed? 4. Why did your staff glare at us and give us nothing but attitude when telling us even when we were trying to be nice and understanding?

I love this store and come in all the time, but I am very frustrated. My husband I just spent a little over 2 hours in the store talking with staff and trying things on to make sure these big purchases that we will spend a lot of time using and supporting our bodies with will be a good use of our 20% coupons. Very easy to spend that long when you are looking at packs, shoes, sleeping bags, etc. We leave and have to pay $20 in parking... which makes the thoughtful attention we spent in the store looking at different prices completely a waste of time. Why is a private company profiting off of parking at a store where you can easily and reasonably spend several hours just deciding what to buy??? Especially when REI makes such a big effort to make MEMBERS feel loyalty to the company? This is also less lenient than it was in the past. I expected to maybe pay $5, not $20. No fault to the staff at all, but we were even told to keep walking around for an extra 10 minutes in each piece of gear. The parking policy is completely at odds with how they encourage customers to make purchases. It's honestly predatory and makes me not want to go back. The staff was super helpful and kind though, so at least there's that.

Google
Such a large story and renovated so beautifully. Biggest REI I have ever seen. The restored brick building is beautiful inside and outside. This is also attached to a Starbucks coffee which is very convenient if you want to walk down the river. Parking is free for first 90 minutes!

Look, I like REI most the time, and I do think this is a good store overall. However, what just happened to me was so frustrating, and other customers deserve to be warned. I was excited to find some smart wool socks on clearance for about half price. So, I bought two pairs. And double checked they were in the row marked as clearance (they were). After a long time in the store, I was excited to finally return to my car, whereupon I double checked everything on the receipt to discover that they had charged me TWICE what they should have charged for the socks. So I re-enter the store, wait at customer service. When the guy helps me he calls over to the area. 5 minutes later I’m informed the clearance price was for a different color. I’m surprised, and go back to the sock section. Sure enough, it was 100% clearly marked as clearance for the socks I had initially chosen. The sign even said “white”, which was definitely the color of the socks too. I guess they were just “kidding” about those being on clearance (two entire rows btw, were marked at half price and all identical colors). I wonder how many customers don’t double check every single item like I did..? REI has probably made some nice extra cash from their “mistaken” price tags. The cherry on top was that the extra time figuring this out at the store caused my parking time to be 3 minutes over 3 hours, which meant a whopping $30(!) I had to pay when leaving. It left a gross enough taste in my mouth that I’m not sure if I’ll ever be back unless I need to return something…

Google
Product quality is great but a terrible store concept. You have to pay for parking if you're shopping for more than an hour. It's incredibly stressful when u have a list of items you need to buy and items to try on (shoes etc.). It's not the dollar amount for parking ($2-3) but the principle. I'm never going to pay a store for the privilege of being a patron. Instead of spending a lot of $$$ on boots and other gear, I bought a mess kit. I do like the REI in Boulder though.

Google
Awesome REI - if is huge and they have everything. There are also helpful employees throughout the store who really know their stuff. Parking next to the store - free for first 90 minutes - is a good deal for sure. Big Starbucks next door and you can pop out to see confluence park along the river just outside the store.

Love this store. Have everything I might need for an outdoor lifestyle and even more. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. Have bought some of my smartest and most used stuff here, and they seem to last forever. Very happy customer.

Yelp
This REI location is truly something special! Located at 1416 Platte St, it's more than just a store--it's an adventure hub. The space is massive and beyond impressive, offering everything you could possibly need for outdoor activities, whether you're into snowboarding, skiing, hiking, or any other adventure sport. One of the standout features is the rock climbing wall, which adds an exciting vibe and makes this store feel like an experience rather than just a shopping trip.

Yelp
How have I lived in Colorado for over 5 years and never been here until now? Love how overwhelming this REI location is to visit. I think it's interesting to read all the Yelp reviews that have changed over the years. VERY mixed opinions. At any rate, I had a great time. We parked in the underground garage, raided the sales racks, picked up some must-haves, and checked out seamlessly. New favorite date night spot in Denver!

Yelp
I placed my order online this morning and it was fortunately ready by lunch. I was pleasantly greeted at the door and directed to the online pickup desk. The woman who got my order for me was very nice and efficient. REI also has a very generous return policy. All in all a fantastic experience.

Yelp
What once was The Denver Tramway Power Co. is now the REI Co-Op flagship space. HOLY MOLY, you must check out this MASSIVE place for all outdoor lovers! This building is three stories full of merchandise, including a wall climb, previously worn gears, massive clearance space, and anything related to outdoor merchandise. This store is a true gem for the city of Denver. Parking was free with validation. However, we came on a holiday, and the gate was wide open. After scouring through the area, I did not want to leave empty-handed, so we purchased a multi-colored fanny pack I had not seen in my area. The cashier was amicable as I did not know my REI number, so he looked up my information. He asked where my area code was from, and I told him Burbank. He then told me he once lived in Thousand Oaks but moved to Denver several years back. I enjoyed the small chat we had and seeing a Cali outplant.

Yelp
It's a great place to shop for outdoor "stuff" of pretty much every kind you can imagine. But, the location by the water, the building itself (outside and inside), and the way the merchandise is displayed, make this a tourist attraction too. Very friendly and well-trained staff. Starbucks (separate entrance) is in same building.

Yelp
Too bad there's only the ability for 5 Stars on Yelp, because the REI Flagship Store would definitely get more. REI in general has a great selection of outdoor gear, good prices, and excellent customer service, but the Denver Flagship is even better. Their staff is knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and super helpful. I bought a pair of men's hiking boots and can't say enough about the experience. My partner bought a new outdoor coat and was equally pleased. The atmosphere at the Flagship is also awesome - a historic space along the South Platte River near downtown with an open and airy space and natural light streaming in. Whatever you're looking for it's probably there, and even when busy doesn't seem crowded. If you're visiting Denver, it's definitely worth a visit.
google avatar

Jo C.

Yelp
This is one of the Flagship store, and it is huge! It has like 3 floors where the third floor is entirely just for sales...although it wasn't steep discount. I love the local Denver tote bag designs that I didn't see at the Boulder location. Great for a useful souvenir. Either way such a cool store to visit.

Yelp
As a former employee, REI needs a lot of improvements. This store specifically needs, more signage. The difficulty is that the store is in a historical landmark and altercations are near impossible. Management rarely helps out employees, so we are stressed and tend to not engage properly with customers due to not getting appropriate assistance. Staffing is based on store allocation, so if we don't make sales one day staffing might be short the next. Staffing is rarely based on the customer traffic in store but sales.

Yelp
Free 2 hour parking, beautiful building, great selection, great service, and their discounted section so fun! I try to come here every time I'm close by

Yelp
worst REI. rude employee was HIDING and when we asked for help, rudely said "what do you want me to do?". it was tiring and we felt like we needed to go home and sleep after walking around in it. and so confusing. they trap you inside with how big it is and then force you to pay when you leave because you were there for too long. long lines too. we went just to pick up an order and it took an hour and 20 minutes.

Yelp
Bought a hard hat to tackle Mt. Sneffles this summer but finding out that I needed a larger size and had to return it. Since I bought using the REI Co-op Membership, return was breeze with just a phone number and the person helping me made it super easy. This location do have two parking areas. One closer that has 1st floor and the underground parking. The second one is across the street at the west side of the building. Did you know that this Flagship location might be the biggest REI in US? It is registered as National Register of Historic Places with 90,000-square-foot REI flagship store includes a 45-foot indoor climbing wall. When I Googled it, it says the Flagship store in Seattle was the biggest but my finding says it is only 80,000. Hmmm. Interesting. Here is the details from https://renewdenver.org/ " Incorporated in 1886, the Denver Tramway Company (DTC) obtained an exclusive city franchise to build electric streetcar lines in Denver. The Denver Tramway Powerhouse was built in 1901 to house the boilers and engines used to generate electricity for the DTC rail system that spread throughout the Denver metropolitan area. The powerhouse location was chosen for its proximity to the South Platte River (which provided cooling for the turbines), easy access to coal from the adjacent rail lines, and its central location to the DTC's main terminal and downtown Denver. As the automobile gained popularity, electric rail lines were removed and the Denver Tramway Powerhouse closed in 1950. Past tenants included a warehouse for The International Harvester Company and the Forney Museum of Transportation. In 1998, the building was sold to Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) in 1998 for redevelopment into its Denver flagship store. Envisioned as a catalyst for development in the Central Platte Valley, REI chose the site for its visibility from the highway and downtown, regional access, historic character of the building and proximity to the river and bike paths. The high cost of historic preservation, life-safety upgrades and environmental abatement rendered the plan financially infeasible. DURA provided approximately $6.3 million in sales tax TIF reimbursement to REI to make the project possible. Renovations began in 1998 and were completed in April 2000. In 2001, the renovated building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The approximately 90,000-square-foot REI flagship store includes a 45-foot indoor climbing wall, outdoor climbing features, mountain bike trails and scenic walking/jogging trails that wind through native plants and water features. The building is adjacent to Confluence Park, where Cherry Creek meets the South Platte River. Denver's premier kayak water park and Confluence Park attracts visitors for concerts and gatherings along the river's edge. The REI flagship store is a prime example of public and private sectors coming together to adapt and reuse a significant part of Denver's history. The development also helped fulfill the city's vision for the Central Platte Valley as the entertainment spine of an expanding downtown." Now I have a better understanding of historical importance of this location and the partnership REI and City of Denver made to make this store special part of Denver.

Yelp
Assembling a care package for nephew in Kuwait, and thought REI would be the perfect place to find healthy snacks that hold up in the heat. Their Sunny Day trail mix was recommended by several websites, so off I went, driving across town to shop at the flagship store. First clerk I asked was surprised that I was looking for a food item, but recovered and pointed me toward the cashier area. Second clerk said she didn't know of any trail mix at REI, but "helped" me look by pulling out her phone and bringing up the Sunny Day item on it. I asked if a manager might be more knowledgeable and she found a young male manager (?) who also brought up the product on his phone. Neither seemed willing to walk around with me to see if trail mix might have been displayed elsewhere. Left without the item.

Yelp
We were staying at the hotel in Union Station and did a self-guided walking tour, with REI being one of the stops. We stopped in on a Saturday and they were having an event for kids with different exhibitors and vendors. Yes, this is the OG REI location and has several floors and a wider selection of gear. We were looking for a very specific item -- wooden hicking sticks -- and didn't find exactly what we were looking for. Still kind of neat to stop in as an attraction anyway.

Yelp
Always love me a flagship REI! It is a grand store with many levels, so expect to get a little lost (fret not, the signs will guide you). My intentions were to find a specific hiking pant from a brand I enjoy, and with thorough inspection of the store it seemed they did not carry it. My second course of action was to purchase a similar pant, different brand. Pleased to say it ended up being a great purchase, 20% off (membership) coupon included! A few notes - BIG fan of their Clearance section, as it is a plentiful one. Employees were also very kind. Parking can get busy depending on time of day and the first 90 minutes are free! Overall, great experience(s).

Yelp
Bottom Line: REI's huge flagship store filled with clothing and gear for outdoor adventures housed in a historical building. My husband and I went to REI on a Sunday mid-day and it was busy! I didn't need anything so I was really just tagging along with him and being open to some impulse shopping. Shoes, women's clothing, bikes, water bottles, puzzles, gadgets, etc. - I checked it all out as I made my way through this multi-level building. The amount of merchandise in here was quite impressive and everything seemed pretty well organized. I figure they must have an army of elves that come in at night to clean up and organize the place. Just kidding but having worked retail I'm thinking its got to be quite the effort to get everything organized at the end of a busy day. The store was a tad awkward to navigate. We didn't end up buying anything, in part because we didn't have much room in our luggage. When it was time to leave I wasn't sure how to bypass the line of 20 plus people at the checkout to get outside. Utilizing a compass we were able to make it out alive. When we visited the bathrooms were under construction and they had nice portable bathrooms on site but unfortunately their scent was lingering in the air. That incentivized us to get in the building quickly! What I liked most about the experience was the building itself. The huge brick building was built just after the turn of the century and served as the Denver Tramway Power Company building that provided power to the Denver streetcar system. The voluminous building has lovely brick work and interesting windows . I recall seeing a streetcar on the way to the parking garage and now I know why.

Yelp
Uneaalled selection of quslity outdoor gear. Attentive, patient and helpful service selecting footwear for my needs. Conscious of price, adaptability and enthusiastic about necessary adaptations. REI has been my first selection for outdoor gear for 50 years now!

Yelp

Yelp
This place is friggin amazing! Amazing space with a great inventory of everything you could want. Knowledgeable staff that knows what they are selling. Parking is great.

Yelp
Five stars- Physical Size and inventory selection Five Stars- Greeters Three Stars- Staff Hit or miss with sales staff. I always had to flag someone down even though there were plenty of workers. One sales guy on the top floor didn't even bother to look up when I was speaking to him. At the shoe department I literally waved my hand several times to catch someone's attention as I heard, "May I help yous..." in the distance after I have been waiting for a while. This has been a pattern I have noticed in other REI stores. However, when I directly address staff, they are usually pleasant except for the guy on the top floor. This flagship location is by Confluence Park in a historical building.

Cierra S.

Yelp
A lot could improve actually. How is the store the size of a whole shopping mall but you don't have inventory? Doesn't make sense please spend your money elsewhere and don't waste your time at this boof store
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
We arrived during the day on a Saturday. So naturally the parking lot was full. We parked a few blocks away and paid at meter parking. The staff members were kind to us and helped guide us. We planned on making a shoe purchase. Tom and another gentleman were very helpful. Luckily I was able to find a pair of Hoka shoes in my size in the clearance section. I was grateful to save 50 dollars on my purchase. They were exactly what I was looking for. I then purchased another pair of Hoka shoes for my wife. Hers were a bit more colorful. Original price for the shoes are $160. We think they are going to be well worth it. Highly recommended by Doctors that we know that swear by them. In order to get the clearance items at REI you must be a member. And if an item is purchased from the clearance section, no returns are offered. The cashier was nice at check out. The surrounding area has a fair amount of transients and vagrant activity. We are happy with our experience overall.

Colin S.

Yelp
I've been a routine customer of REI but the service quality has been dismal. During a Saturday at peak hours, they had one employee working the bike & ski shop. There was one customer ahead of me when I got into line and my wait time exceeded 40 minutes to pick up my completed bike. While I waited, I saw numerous employees congregating around the counter but each claimed they weren't working the shop to assist. Will be going to EVO in the future for my gear purchases / service.
google avatar

Kristi M.

Yelp
Hands down the coolest REI you've ever been in, I guarantee it! Not only is this place multiple stories of amazing products, there is a Starbucks attached to it. You can sip some coffee while you browse the shop. Big plus that they validate parking for up to 90 minutes. It's such a blast to walk around and marvel at the gorgeous building!

Dan D.

Yelp
I found a coat on the REI website that interested me, so I visited the flagship store. A person at the door directed me to the coat section, but then I was on my own. The staff ignored me and seemed preoccupied with stock work. When I asked one where I could find the coat I'd seen online, she said, "It's probably downstairs." Downstairs, I experienced the same indifference. I never found the coat. If the people in my store treated customers like that, I'd be out of business.

Yelp
I went in for a pair of pants which are great but that's also what you expect paying their prices. I went very fast because they are NOT dog friendly.

Yelp
Largest REI in the country doesn't disappoint. They have so many different sections with many many brands. It feels like I'm shopping their online catalog in person. It's cool that they have a Rockclimbing wall and coffee shop inside too.

Yelp
This is the Denver REI Flagship. It is in a picturesque location where Downtown Denver, the Highlands District, and I-25 intersect with the Great Outdoors. It stands besides the South Platte River in the heart of the Denver Trail System where the Cherry Creek and South Platte Rivers unite in Confluence Park. It is closer to a South Platte River white water kayak course than the I-25 rush hour course. The Denver REI Flagship reminds me of a combination between a Bass Pro Shop and outdoor equipment museum. The reason that it reminds me of a museum is that it kind of is. When it opened in 2000, it brought new life to the historic Denver Trolley Building. This 94,000 square foot building was built in 1901. In 2001 it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The purpose of this building was to house the boilers and engines that were used to create electricity for the Denver Tramway Company. It closed in 1950. One only has to walk a couple of blocks away and look at I-25 to see how the highways put the trams out of business. Today there is a touristy tram that runs along the South Platte River Trail near the building. This very unique retail environment where the business operates in a historic building by a major downtown and wild scenic river and that happens to have one of my favorite Starbucks attached is the epitome of "retailtainment." Inside, I felt more like being in this lodge and library that was enveloped by historic brick walls with a 47 foot tall climbing rock in the middle more than in a super recreational equipment store. There were several touches that complemented the historic feel. They included the brick walls reaching over three stories high to slanted roofs with windows that brought in the Denver sunshine. The exposed pipes and catwalks brought images of generating electricity to run trollies. Even the fixtures complimented the history. The retailtainment included a Colorado nature aspect with the central 47-foot climbing rock based on the Rocky Mountains. The majority of the merchandise and Starbucks are on the main floor. In similar style to an atrium the upper two levels are smaller. Just as much as I am a fan of the Great Outdoors, I am one of good coffee. It was the adjacent Starbuck's that had brought me in here. This retailtainment aspect permeates into this Starbucks that I had rated four stars. Missing from this Starbucks is a restroom. We would use the one on level 2 of REI and in turn look around. Many of the reviews mention arriving here by car or bike. We arrived here by urban hiking. We'd walk a great length of the 16th Street Mall into Commons and Confluence Parks to get here. It was from here that we even went on a long urban hike on the South Platte River and Cherry Creek Trails. On the subject of walking REI came through for my dad when his feet were bothering him. From their impressive footwear department which I think is the best in downtown Denver, he purchased a pair of Merrells that cured his feet problem. As for me, a lover of the Great Outdoors, my visits that originated from the adjacent Starbucks were just being retailtained looking around at the outdoor gear and 47-foot tall climbing rock. Because I was traveling it seemed more of an annoyance to be adding more stuff to my overstuffed luggage. Unless I was in need of footwear, it made more sense for me to patronize the location near me (I rated the Henderson, Nevada REI 5 stars in 2014 because of their outstanding selection of insoles). With the attached Starbucks, we visited here a few times in the summers of 2017 and 2022.  In the summer of 2022, they were still taking Covid seriously. This is one of the few stores where I saw an entrance sign stating that masks were encouraged and a greeter was handing them out. She happened to be personable. She noticed my dad and I's New York accent and mentioned that she was from Connecticut. Her friendliness made a nice first and last impression on our last visit here. I want to close off with the definition of "unique." It means "being the only one of its kind."  That word describes the Denver Flagship REI. It is a unique store where urban Denver meets the great outdoors. It is a flagship store that operates inside a historic building that provided me with 4 star retailtainment experiences that online shopping cannot replicate.

Yelp
Great place but beware the parking fees. 90 minutes free, next 30 minutes $5 at 2 hrs it jumps to a flat fee of $20 a bit usury in my view yes it's posted but really could be incremental

Ryan H.

Yelp
30 bucks for a lifetime membership is well worth it. Their app is also super convenient. They have it down to a science, really. Completely unique shoppers experience, makes me wonder why most other businesses don't adopt this model. Plus the building is SO vintage and unique it's always fun to just wonder around here

Yelp
We stopped in to make the purchase of a pair of Birkenstocks and a pair of $500 boots and before going called to ask if we could take our dog in the store with us and we're told we could as long as they were well behaved. Got there and upon to enter the store we were told we could not have the dog in the store. so we then proceeded to one of us shop for $160 purchase while the other one waited to go in afterwards. Asked where the Birkenstocks were and we were directed to a location in the store that did not have them, waited around for about five minutes for someone to help and there wasn't enough staff to help the customers. proceeded to leave the store so my husband could go in and make his purchase and when exiting through the cashier counter had to cut around the ropes to get out and a cashier stopped mand asked me if they could help and I said yeah couldn't find what I was needing and couldn't find anyone to help me so we're leaving and they said OK thank you. Then my husband went in to find the $500 Plus boots that he was looking for and they had two pair of these boots but when we called before going, we asked if they had a large section of that particular boot and they said yes, we have a wide selection of them. Again, the person who was helping him was much less than helpful. Beautiful Store great location, but the service is worthless. Ended up ordering the Birkenstock sandals direct from Birkenstock for about $20 less (no shipping cost added) than advertised at this store.

Yelp
Leaving one star for their lack of transparency on their pet policy. I recently rode my bike to the location with my small dog contained in a back pack/holder. I'm not sure if dogs were previously allowed and policy changed or it was previously unenforced. The lack of transparency and inconsistency is frustrating because I would have left my dog at home, especially because I was on my bike and don't leave her unattended outside due to pet theft. I've been coming to this location for 10 years and was really surprised today, which just isn't a great way to do business.

Yelp
I don't live in Denver but this is always a worthy stop when driving through. The building is very unique, being in a large converted street car depot. It has many levels, each organized to a particular category so shopping is actually pretty entertaining with how much you explore the store. Sure, it's most of the same stuff you can get at any REI but this is a far cry from the typical strip mall lot in the Midwest I'm used to. It's also situated in a pretty picturesque part of the city where walking, biking, running, and scootering is incredibly easy. The selection is huge and the staff was very helpful.

Yelp
Expensive, but a super fun place to visit right by the water! They also have a "garage sale" section for discounted items which is very nice. The store itself is almost like a museum, big with multiple levels, and lots to see! Great for families and just about anyone else - grab some healthy snacks at the store too and sit by the river to enjoy a sunny day and the sound of running water - all right in downtown Denver! Free parking for 2 hours is also a plus!

Yelp
Came here for the first time last week to snag some camping gear. They truly have everything you need and more! Amazing quality and we ended up getting more than we initially came here for. It's like a camping version of Target lol. I think the only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was that the staff was a hit or miss. One staff had zero intentions on helping us whilst another staff was SUPER helpful and did all he could to make sure we were satisfied with our purchases. Fun experience!

Yelp
So pissed. REI works with a parking company that owns the lot out front. Was in Starbucks for an hour, the machine freaked out and charged my card $20 when it was supposed to be free. I call in they say it was my choice to pay it and refused to reimburse me. Such Idiots - be careful when parking here.

Yelp
A staff berated me regarding a shoe return that was never worn. There staff member pointed out a tiny bit of climbing chalk that came from my hand and said they could not go back on the shelf. Love REI but some of the staff has some attitude issues. I have heard similar stories about this REI...

Yelp
You go, can't find parking, get berated by granola people selling CDs. Then you see the bazaar that is their " flag ship" Returns/pickup/purchases are all in separate corners I'd go to Lakewood or Boulder or buy online. This place feels more like a tourist trap then a functional space.

Yelp
To get right to the point, if you are in or around Denver: Come to this REI. I walked to REI from my hotel with a group of friends who are major fans of the place and knew that this was the original location Wow, was the trek there worth it. I could have spent hours in the store, and I'm not even an particularly and outdoorsy type of person! They have so many interesting products that you can purchase and use for hikes, camping, etc. If I lived near there, I would buy a lot just to give away as gifts. They have major products like camping equipment, clothing and shoes, backpacks.... the list goes on. I suggest simply looking at the photos I uploaded to get some of an idea of the many wonderful products this store sells! You can also sit down and read magazine or books or consult with someone about a trip you're planning. Go REI!

Yelp
This is the REI store other REI stores wishes to be!  There's actually an REI very close to where I live in LA, but honestly I always just end up shopping online and use the store to return and exchange my items.  During a recent Denver weekend trip, we popped in here during a rainstorm thinking we will just window shop until the rain stop.  Well, I've been eyeing some hiking pants for awhile and I found everything I needed and more! LOTs of sizes and selection to choose from, great customer service at every corner. It also helped that it was the anniversary sale weekend! There's even a huge rock climbing wall on the first floor. This is the best outdoor equipment store and more! It was a bit hard at first to find parking, but a little patience always helps.

Yelp
I was so excited to visit the flagship store for the first time and my experience was extremely disappointing. We came to try on shoes and sat around waiting for an associate to help us for 20+ minutes. Most customers in the area were googling product information on their phones because there was no help or any questions being answered. Some of these problems may be due to understaffing, it seemed like the associates in the footwear section were juggling too many people to be able to provide thoughtful help. Luckily after finding the answers we wanted online we were able to get the size and head to check out. The associate at check out was extremely unfriendly and it was a fitting end to the whole experience. I am giving 2 stars because I do love REI and being in the store itself was a great experience because it is clean and fun to walk around, but beware if you are looking for something because it is a little bit difficult to get immediate assistance.

Yelp
Pros: 1. Big! That translates to a lot of selection. We went in expecting to buy nothing, and ended up purchasing 4 pairs of pants because we saw all this stuff we "needed" that our local (small) REI doesn't have. 2. It wasn't that hard to find someone to help you, and everyone working there was very friendly. 3. If you can't find your size, someone helps and they can find the size/color in the back. Cons: 1. Parking lot was insane. You'd think this is the parking lot for Disneyland or a sports arena - so many people driving in and out nonstop. We got lucky and got a space as someone was leaving. There is an overflow parking lot down the street but you'll have a good walk (I suppose if you shop at REI you don't mind a bit of a walk). 2. Not enough fitting rooms for how big and popular this place is. I had to wait about 15-20 mins.

Yelp
What an absolutely amazing store! I've never seen anything quite like this! Absolutely huge, but easy to find whatever you might need or want, or didnt know you did! Parking is mostly across the street but is free for REI customers. Bikes, hiking, camping, water sports, winter sports. And the consignment at the store or used/return area was a hit for us. We were confused with member pricing, but after it was explained by one of the amazingly friendly and patient staff (who were never more than 30 seconds away), we joined for pur daughter who we moved to the area. Highly recommend this store! I will continue to shop online with them, but loved learning more about them and their principles!

Yelp
This REI has completed changed my perception of any and all REIs...and I now have such high expectations! It's one of the flagship stores so know that it's not your typical REI. BUT living in Denver & Westminster meant it was the closest location to me, so lucky me! The staff are always pretty friendly and knowledgeable, though sometimes you do have to track them down. During tourist season, which seems like its becoming literally every month, the parking lot is a mess. If you can, park a bit down the road and walk up. The Platte river is a nice location to take in Denver!

Yelp
A very cool REI with a large selection of everything you can imagine for outdoors. It is expensive shopping but that is to be expected at any outdoor store. But whether you are a biker, rock climber, camper, this huge REI has you covered!

Yelp
I brought my skis in for a tune. They were promised to be ready by 6 pm on May 2. I drove across town to retrieve them. I arrived at 4 pm on May 3; this was 22 hours after they were promised to be ready. They weren't ready. Now I have the pleasure of driving another hour through Denver traffic to retrieve them at another time. Not happy. REI: this is basic customer service. Deliver what you promise. Or at least call the customer to tell them you need another day or two.

Yelp
This place is like Disneyland for adults. I went tent shopping here and had a great experience. The store was out of quite a few products, the service rep said it's because everyone is camping due to the pandemic. So we sell out of many things as soon as we get them in. The wife and I bought a tent to go camping but ended up bringing it back because it wasn't comfortable or large enough for the two of us. Returning it was extremely simple, no questions asked and the money went back right back on my card. The customer service was impeccable. I love the store and will be back soon to feed my appetite for more toys!
