Where to Eat in Porto, Portugal

Google
Lovely little restaurant. €22 for two course menu with main, dessert, wine and coffee. Not too much but beautifully cooked food. Everything delicious, wine was very good too. The waiter pulled out the cork in front of me. Tarte tatin as I aimed.

With all the great reviews, our expectations were high, maybe a bit too high. In the end, we couldn’t really see what the hype was about, and for what we got, it felt quite overpriced. We visited on a Wednesday, but the grilled meat dishes were only available from 7:30 p.m. When we came back later, we were a bit disappointed with the food. We ordered the Spanish sirloin twice with side dishes for about €80, trusting the many positive reviews. The sides were good, but the meat was just okay. Quite a lot of fat around the edges and rather sinewy. Service was fine.

Google
Yes, it says steakhouse but I did what any pescatarian with a will to live does and ordered the octopus. Because if I see grilled tentacles on a menu, it’s happening. The place has a cute deli-counter as you walk in. Both patio and indoor seating, excellent service. The vibe was impeccable. A glass of white, some chewy smoky octopus, and I’m ready to climb towers.

Perfect evening at Reitoria - no notes! We enjoyed the octopus, Spanish sirloin and tarte brulee, and the flavours in each dish were insanely good and perfectly balanced. Would come back!

We love the sister restaurant Habitat and have been many times over several years. This was our first visit here. Staff we very pleasant and atmosphere was lovely. BUT food was nice but perhaps not as good as Habitat had led us to expect (Spanish Sirloin was tough) and our very friendly server really had no idea about the menu incl how different dishes we prepared. She came back w partial answers to our menu questions but really struggled. That's really management's fault... we may try again.

The best meal we had in Porto, the food was excellent, the service was top notch, and the restaurant was quiet and clean. It was a very enjoyable experience!

Google
We had lunch at Reitoria. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully served, everything tasted great. The service was attentive and friendly, making the experience even better. We sat outside, and although the atmosphere was quite simple, it was comfortable and pleasant. The only small disappointment was that the grill wasn’t available. Overall, a very good place for a tasty meal - solid 4.5.

This place was recommended to us by a non-Portuguese, so we decided to give it a try. We sampled the ribeye steak, truffle mashed potatoes, ratatouille, port wine, and dessert. I should note that you really need to book this restaurant in advance because by evening it's fully booked. Interestingly, despite this being a steakhouse, we liked the steak much less than the mashed potatoes, ratatouille, and dessert. We ordered the steak medium-rare, but it came out well-done. The edges were so dry and tough that they were almost like shoe leather, with only a small part in the center being juicy and flavorful. The truffle mashed potatoes were simply divine, melting in your mouth with just the right amount of truffle to enhance the flavor. The ratatouille was also juicy and complex, perfectly balanced without being over-salted or over-peppered. We nearly fought over the dessert — the desserts here are clearly excellent and worth ordering when you visit. What I didn’t like, however, was the service. First, it wasn’t clear who our waiter was. Second, you couldn’t get a glass of water or sit at an unreserved table. The waiter who came to tell us about all these restrictions initially refused to take our order, but after 10 minutes, he returned and finally took it. On top of that, the tables are placed very close to each other, and smoking isn’t just allowed, but due to the close proximity of the tables, people will be smoking right in your face. All of this left a very unpleasant impression. Overall, this place left me with mixed feelings. I might return for some of the dishes, but if you want to have a comfortable time in a pleasant atmosphere, you might want to choose another place.

Yelp
Reitoria was an absolute treat! We caught an Uber then walked into the restaurant. The weather was perfect so we sat at a high table outside. We ordered the charcuterie which was fantastic and served alongside bread and olives. We had a bottle of red wine which paired well with a Ribeye steak accompanied by chimichurri sauce and side of the Rice which came in a super cute mini Dutch oven. The dessert was AMAZING - we had the vanilla panna cotta and it was heavenly. The Service was attentive, nice, and happy to give recommendations

Yelp
Came here on the recommendation of a local hostess when the restaurant we stopped at was about to close and couldn't sit us. We are thankful. We really enjoyed the focaccia (we had the Parma) and beer and wine here. So much so that we returned the next night. It definitely helped that the location was close to our hotel. The ones here are great with a good mix of locals and tourists and a playlist of older recognizable tunes. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Yelp
Discovered this place in a hotel magazine. After OD'ing on traditional Portuguese cuisine in Lisbon and Porto, we simply wanted a steak. Arriving an hour early as our legs had it with climbing up and down the hills, we solicited reco's from our server and were blown away with the carpaccio and cheese/charcuterie appetizers and Douro wine per his suggestion, American groovy music addded to the vibe. The handful of patrons were from around the globe according to the accents we could decipher. Yelp does not seem like a bid deal in Portugal, but you should know about this place if you are reading up using Yelp! I will continue with more comments after we eat dinner in a half hour.

Yelp
My friend saw this place recommended somewhere, so we came here for our first meal in Porto and loved it!! The outdoor seating with the blankets is so cute, our waitress was so sweet and personable, the wine was amazing, and the food was delicious!! We got a charcuterie board (can't go wrong), salmon salad (which was amazing and possibly my favorite thing we ordered, but in general I am a salad lover), the Iberian pork, panna cotta (light and fluffy!), and of course wine! If I'm ever back in Porto I will definitely go back! It's also in a really cute area so it's perfect for a boozy lunch with a nice long walk afterwards!

Yelp
First off we stumbled onto this restaurant. It's nearly 10pm and it's full. Food was amazing great music and beers after a long day traveling it was fun to watch the chef make all the sandwiches and charcuterie. Club Sandwich was Fabulous and the Prosciutto was bomb. The Focaccia was very light and airy.

Yelp
Top notch food! This was recommended by our travel guide and it did not disappoint. We had a little wait since we didn't have reservations. The lobster rice was incredible.

Yelp
First dinner in Porto was so amazing!!! Pitcher of sangria, charcuterie and a buffala bruschetta- perfect light meal. Great location and quality; pear tarte was perfect ending.

Yelp
Recommended by hotel staff. Restaurant is upstairs. Steaks (1 kg-ish) meant to be shared and go from €65-85. One steak fed three of us and tasted pretty good.

Yelp
I came for the tapas and stayed for the grill. Amazing food accompanied by great wine and knowledgeable staff for a reasonable price. Deserves 6 stars.

Yelp
Exceptional meal from start to finish. Great salad/ delicious beef and amazing potatoes and the dessert finale topped off a wonderful experience. Definitely will be back.
