Relais & Chateaux Hotel Orfila

This is a beautiful small hotel in a great location on a city residential street but very close to major streets and transport options. The bar is small but beautiful and there is ample additional seating in the lobby. The restaurant is excellent, both for breakfast and for dinner. And our room was spacious, well appointed and beautifully decorated in a cozy, classic style. Definitely the right place for an autumn stay! The staff is very accommodating, especially the young man who was manning the bar and the bell staff. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

This is the perfect hotel for a stay in friendly, beautiful Madrid. Situated in a beautiful building in a quiet street, very close to everything you want to see or do. The hotel is far from the big chain , impersonal and stressful hotels you sometimes have to stay at. Here , everyone is so nice, friendly and helpful. No rush at breakfast where you also have an expansive a la carte breakfast to choose from , the rooms, with both bath and shower are served twice daily, impeccably clean. Both Ubers and taxis arrive in minutes. Thank you everyone at Orfila, we loved our stay with you.

Second visit to this hotel and this visit was as great as the first. Rooms are large with a bed that makes it difficult to leave. Bathroom is lovely with a very nice shower. Breakfast is fabulous with the freshest fruit and several to order options. Hotel Orfila's location is great with easy access to many must see locations. What makes this hotel so memorable is the level of service from the entire staff. They truly care about their guests and do everything to make your stay a wonderful experience. Will definitely be back for another visit!!

We really enjoyed our stay. Having visited several Relais hotels, this one strikes a great balance of comfort and friendliness. The property is beautiful, and the staff, both at reception and in the restaurant, were exceptionally helpful and welcoming. Parking is convenient on the road outside. Breakfast at the restaurant was excellent, though dinner fell short of the high standard set by the rest of the hotel.

We had the most wonderful time at the hotel. The staff was very kind and made us feel so special an welcomed. Bruce even upgraded our stay as it was my husband‘s birthday and we really enjoyed it. We will definitely come back!:) Thanks so much for everything!

From the moment we stepped into the Hotel Orfila, we knew we had arrived at a very special place. The hotel is truly beautiful and we were warmly greeted at reception. Immediately all our requests were taken care of and we experienced an excellent level of care throughout our stay of five nights. The staff are amazing, so kind, attentive, engaging and respectful. Our breakfasts and evening meals were superb. We highly recommend this hotel and will return at the first opportunity.

Our recent stay at Relais & Châteaux Hotel Orfila was nothing short of extraordinary. Traveling with three young children while pregnant can be challenging, but from the moment we arrived, the team at Orfila—especially Bruce at the front desk—made us feel not only welcomed, but truly cared for. Bruce went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect for our family. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, and thanks to his attentiveness, we arrived to find thoughtful touches that made the experience unforgettable. Our children were greeted with goody bags and snacks, and their faces absolutely lit up when they found chocolates waiting in the room. An incredibly comfortable additional bed and cot had already been set up, and to top it off, my son was gifted a stuffed animal he hasn’t let go of since we left. These gestures weren’t just generous—they were deeply personal. The room was not only elegant and spacious, but also stocked with fresh fruit that was out of this world—the kind of detail that makes a stay feel truly luxurious. The location couldn’t be better—tucked on a quiet street, but just a short stroll from everything Madrid has to offer. Yet despite being in the heart of the city, it felt peaceful and intimate, like a secret retreat. This hotel combines old-world charm with thoughtful, modern hospitality, and it’s the warmth and care from people like Bruce that makes it stand out from anywhere else we’ve stayed. We will absolutely return—and recommend Hotel Orfila to anyone traveling to Madrid, especially with children. It was simply perfect.

The hotel is old school and great relaxation space because of it. Highly recommended as boutique get away. The technology is a little ahead for motion sensors and a little behind on the WiFi hookup but overall a splendid stay. Alejandro and Maurito are most excellent staff!!

From the moment we walked in, we were in awe. The Hotel Orfila-Relais Chateau is a lovely boutique hotel. It is just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the main attractions, but easily accessible by metro or taxi. The staff were the friendliest we have encountered- they we charming and welcoming and went above and beyond their basic duties to make us feel relaxed and at home. They provided a wealth of information of the city, as well as for our short trip to Toledo and road trip to Basque country. They really made our stay in Madrid more enjoyable. When we checked in, we were offered complementary champagne. Unfortunately we were both under the weather and couldn't drink alcohol for most of our trip (in Spain, nonetheless). The decor is grand and feels antique in a good way - It's not that modern floor to ceiling glass/hipster antique wood stuff that you get everywhere nowadays. This also means that our rooms were S P A C I O U S. I think staying here ruined most of the other hotel rooms we stayed in around Spain. Here, we had a huge bedroom with a comfortable plush couch. The coffee table was stocked with complimentary fresh fruit and a bottle of wine. The bathroom consisted of 2 rooms- the toilets were separated by it's own door. The sink had 2 faucets. The hallway had a wraparound corner closet larger than the closet I have at home. I have to say that this was one of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed at- between the decor and the staff, our stay was wonderful. I've already been telling all my friends about this hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again the next time we are in Madrid.

This boutique hotel is a gem! We will stay here again when I come back to Madrid. Staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and newly redone so everything was sparkled. I loved to have breakfast downstairs in the courtyard, and the location of this hotel was ideal. Thank you to the lovely staff.

Love this boutique hotel in Madrid! Just steps always from great shopping and is on a quite side street. The friendliest hotel staff ever. The rooms remind me of the plaza athenee is Paris.

Luv luv! Having been to Madrid many times on business, I was delighted to have come across this gem of a hotel. We booked 4 rooms and without requesting it, we were booked on the same floor (our 4 rooms were the entire floor). This beautiful and scenic boutique hotel is nestled in the middle of a very private street within walking distance to the Gran Via with lots of lovely boutiques along the way . The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, referring us to some wonderful restaurants during our stay. Rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. Breakfast is served buffet style and was quite good. We stayed in January, but during the warmer months, you can dine on the beautiful private patio of the restaurant. I will definitely book here again over the larger hotels in Madrid. A++++

My husband and I stayed together at this wonderful little haven for 5 days; the staff are ALL absolutely welcoming, charming & competent! Our room was just perfect and everyone made our stay in Madrid special! When we return to Madrid next we will definitely be returning to this lovely hotel!! Accessible to everything!

This is absolutely the loveliest boutique hotel. Everything is perfection. The deluxe suite is huge, gorgeous, and perfectly appointed. Centrally located with a truly friendly multi-lingual staff, I can not wait to stay here again. It's just beautiful.
