We chose this hotel because we are fans of the Relais Chateaux association as they have never steered us wrong in the past. This was my first trip to the island of Sylt and therefore wanted to be assured of a relaxed experience in the hotel. We were not disappointed – the service was excellent, the room was clean, well maintained and details looked after. ||||We arrived a bit early and we expected our rooms may not be ready as was the case. The reception took our luggage and offered a drink in the lounge but we decided to head out for lunch instead. Upon our arrival back, the room was ready and our bags already moved there. The room sizes were nice and large with a comfy sofa and armchair as well as a grass terrace with a beach cabin and some chairs to lounge around in for the afternoon. The bathroom was large with a bath and integrated shower. Everything was well maintained and cleaned with no broken corners and all well maintained. They also had sufficient amenities and replenished them with the evening turndown. The quality of the amenities was Babor which seemed fine although the presentation of the containers (simple white tubes which a simple sticker label) did not do the brand justice. But otherwise, the room was excellent and well maintained and cleaned. The hotel is near the Sylt train line so there was some rumblings but it was not bothersome to us and we did not mind it too much.||||The spa and pool facilities were nice but the pool room was very hot and humid. I have spent a lot of time at spas and pools and the pool room was kept way too hot to be comfortable, even after a few dips in the pool. We left after about 20 minutes as it was just stifling and instead rested in our rooms. We told the reception and I expect they would have fixed it but I we did not have a chance to visit the facility afterwards.||||One point to highlight was the breakfast – this was a very good breakfast with lots of delicious options on the buffet as well as on the menu. The cold cuts were of a lovely quality and variety, good liverwurst and mettwurst for the mornings, fresh alfafa beds to garnish, appropriate accompanying sauces, just a lot of options to keep the palate entertained. The menu items were also quite interesting and of a small enough size to enjoy one or two different options. The juices were fresh (except orange juice which you can also ask for fresh), large variety of teas and a cereal and yogurt section to enjoy composing your own muesli. We are very picky about breakfast and this hotel did it perfectly.||||We had one niggle with room service which we spoke to the manager, and the hot pool area, but otherwise, had a very good stay. We would come back again if we were on our own but perhaps would choose a larger hotel if we came with the children as they would have wanted some more on site activities to explore and enjoy. But for a couples weekend away, the hotel was lovely and well presented.
