Relais & Châteaux Landhaus Stricker (Sylt, Schleswig-Holstein) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In principle there’s a stark contrast between Landhaus Stricker’s thoroughly traditional exterior and its colorful, contemporary interiors. But in actual fact, the modern elements and the heritage architecture blend harmoniously together; the result is not only one of Sylt’s most handsome small hotels, but one of the most memorable in all of Germany." - Tablet Hotels

One of the best hotels (if not the best) I’ve ever been to! The service is super friendly and professional, the rooms are very clean, cozy and big, and the location is lovely! This hotel also has a really nice and relaxing wellness area! 10/10 recommend!

they offer EV charging on site. very good experience when travelling with an electric vehicle. strong and stable wifi. the room is cozy, clean and offers nice design touches. we had our two dogs joining us. very welcoming from the minute you walk in the door. despite the location right next to the train tracks, the nights are very relaxed. the food from the breakfast buffet is amazing. as it was my birthday in April they surprised me with a gift and a nicely set table. thanks so much for that 🎉 we had dinner on two occasions at their restaurant on site. the selection of items is amazing and the preparation spotless. definitely worthwhile. the only downside of this hotel is the location. you need to take a bike or car to most places of interests like beach or scenic sites.

We loved the property, it's beautiful. And the breakfast was amazing. Getting a spot at the restaurant for dinner if you don't book far ahead is difficult (even as a guest...most 5 star hotels reserve tables to offer guests) and unfortunately since the property sits far out of any other restaurant area, there are not many options. You need a bike or car to stay here (or plan to taxi all over). The pillows were super uncomfortable. The service was spotty. Some of the staff was really amazing by German standards. As an American, I expect every staff member to be above and beyond at a five star. For a five star hotel to get a five star rating, everything should be impeccable. All of that said, in comparison to other 5 star hotels and restaurants we've been to in Germany, it's really a special place. We loved that our dog was welcome (but not offered a dog bed...just a designated floor towel) and as mentioned above, the food at breakfast was really, really amazing. We enjoyed our stay and would book again.

Negatives;||Location is in a residential area, on a tight site, positioned between the airport and the railway line.||No one helped us get our luggage out of our hire car.||At dinner, main course took 90 minutes to arrive.||We left three days early and the cashier had been told to charge us €150 per person x4, for not wanting to dine in house again, even though the hotel agreed they hadn't confirmed the booking.||Positives;||Ground floor bedroom and garden terrace were nice and relaxing.||Breakfast buffet was great.

Lovely Property & Amazing Cuisine We had a very pleasant stay with great food and enjoyable wellness moments. The staff was very attentive when something didn't work out and resolved matters professionally. The breakfast and restaurant is outstanding and the property has a very enjoyable and stylish wellness area. We would come again.

We chose this hotel because we are fans of the Relais Chateaux association as they have never steered us wrong in the past. This was my first trip to the island of Sylt and therefore wanted to be assured of a relaxed experience in the hotel. We were not disappointed – the service was excellent, the room was clean, well maintained and details looked after. ||||We arrived a bit early and we expected our rooms may not be ready as was the case. The reception took our luggage and offered a drink in the lounge but we decided to head out for lunch instead. Upon our arrival back, the room was ready and our bags already moved there. The room sizes were nice and large with a comfy sofa and armchair as well as a grass terrace with a beach cabin and some chairs to lounge around in for the afternoon. The bathroom was large with a bath and integrated shower. Everything was well maintained and cleaned with no broken corners and all well maintained. They also had sufficient amenities and replenished them with the evening turndown. The quality of the amenities was Babor which seemed fine although the presentation of the containers (simple white tubes which a simple sticker label) did not do the brand justice. But otherwise, the room was excellent and well maintained and cleaned. The hotel is near the Sylt train line so there was some rumblings but it was not bothersome to us and we did not mind it too much.||||The spa and pool facilities were nice but the pool room was very hot and humid. I have spent a lot of time at spas and pools and the pool room was kept way too hot to be comfortable, even after a few dips in the pool. We left after about 20 minutes as it was just stifling and instead rested in our rooms. We told the reception and I expect they would have fixed it but I we did not have a chance to visit the facility afterwards.||||One point to highlight was the breakfast – this was a very good breakfast with lots of delicious options on the buffet as well as on the menu. The cold cuts were of a lovely quality and variety, good liverwurst and mettwurst for the mornings, fresh alfafa beds to garnish, appropriate accompanying sauces, just a lot of options to keep the palate entertained. The menu items were also quite interesting and of a small enough size to enjoy one or two different options. The juices were fresh (except orange juice which you can also ask for fresh), large variety of teas and a cereal and yogurt section to enjoy composing your own muesli. We are very picky about breakfast and this hotel did it perfectly.||||We had one niggle with room service which we spoke to the manager, and the hot pool area, but otherwise, had a very good stay. We would come back again if we were on our own but perhaps would choose a larger hotel if we came with the children as they would have wanted some more on site activities to explore and enjoy. But for a couples weekend away, the hotel was lovely and well presented.

Travelling with my wife from one Chateau and Relais hotel to another, we are looking for something special. Landhaus Stricker is certainly no special, is only overpriced. ||Location of this hotel was carefully selected. Somebody was looking for spot with the longest distance from the beach and all tourist attractions, but close to train rails, airport field and on the edge of the only industrial zone on this island. So be prepared to use your car or at least, weather permitting, bikes. Nothing is within the walking distance, and there is no charm in walking around.||There are two types of highly overpriced rooms: on the ground floor or some kind of duplex first floor. Avoid duplex – bed is located upstairs with steep, narrow and twisted stairs. Nobody will help you with your luggage, and bathroom is downstairs only. We are sporty types, but it was a real challenge.||King bed in this hotel means two beds together and you can clearly see and feel the separation. ||Looking for the bright side – breakfasts are wonderful, with fresh and carefully selected ingredients. Delicious! Also Wi-fi works fine. Does it justify going there? Well, I don’t think so.

I had a very pleasant stay at Landhous Stricker. As a rule you cannot go very wrong with hotels belonging to the Relais & Châteaux fellowship and Landhouse Stricker is a very good example of comfort, understated and tasteful luxury and friendly service. I liked my room at the first glance, friendly and warm and well equipped, nice bright bathroom, a lovely balcony, and all the equipment you might wish. Service was very prompt, personal and friendly and the place gave a feeling of a home away from home. The enclosed pool and the spa are beautifull and convenient, breakfast was very good and there is ample convenient free parking. One small complaint and one caveat: The complaint is about the internet. It is not very fast and I hated the fact of needing three different passwords for three different gadgets and having to logon each time anew. I think it is because they are using WLAN and not WiFi. Hotels need to realize that for the modern traveler fast and convenient internet connection is a must. I personally would dispense with the TV and phone - just give me good internet. The caveat - The location of the hotel is quiet and convenient if you have car. Otherwise you might be better off in some other hotel in town or on the beach.
