Relais & Châteaux Weeshuis Gouda (Gouda, South Holland) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Yes, that Gouda, birthplace of the world-renowned cheese, and a classic example of the cobblestoned, verdant, walkable town squares for which Europe is justly famous. Weeshuis Gouda’s proprietors took their time renovating this 17th-century orphanage, carefully preserving antique details like stone scrollwork and cheerful, red-shuttered windows. Inside, the period architecture is contrasted with a clean, modern touch, a look that brings to mind the simplicity and efficiency at the core of Dutch hospitality and design. Fresh flowers and floods of light complete the charming picture, calming the mind before your next cathedral tour or canalside stroll." - Tablet Hotels

Beautiful hotel. Room 3 had a little terrace/balcony at the back which was lovely to sit on in the morning sun. The room had a coffee machine and kettle. The shower was really nice and the products provided were very high quality. The bed was super comfortable and we both slept really well. The hotel is in a quieter place of Gouda, but only a short 2 minute walk to the main square if you cut down the side of the cathedral. The complementary syrup waffles on check in was a lovely touch.

A very relaxing long weekend stay. Location was excellent.Rooms were light, airy and comfortable. The courtyard was a great central meeting point for breakfast and pre-dinner drinks and the food was superb, and particularly in the Lizz restaurant.

Terrible, Reception desk and hotel closes at 21:00. If you arrive after that you have a PROBLEM. They don't because they don't care. No room service. Poorly designed rooms, poor lighting. Not clean. Rude staff, no restaurant open. 4th floor room had ladder to the bed. Down right dangerous for anyone over 50. DO NOT STAY HERE.

This is a beautiful hotel in the centre of Gouda. We were there for my eldest son's 40th birthday and chose this hotel as it's part of Relais et Chateau.||The room (a family one on the top floor with an upstairs bedroom for our boys) with very comfortable beds and linen. Plenty of towels, which is always appreciated and all the usual amenities such as bathrobes, and very pleasant hand and bath wash.||There are also complimentary snacks which were replenished the next day, as well as still and sparkling water.||My only criticism is the fact the windows can't be opened, and the car parking, if you're not able to park in the reserved bays next to the hotel, is a 5 minute walk in a public car park. However Gouda is a very safe city and we encountered no problems and this did not detract from our overall enjoyment.||I would also like to commend the receptionist on duty, Noe. She is very friendly and helpful and made our stay all the more memorable.

The hotel was just gorgeous. The courtyard in the sun was very special, enhanced by the cocktails. Staff attentive and room spacious, immaculate and with comfy bed. Highly recommend.

Absolutely lovely little hotel in a great location. The value for money is outstanding. The location is right off the main square, but very quiet, off the most charming canal in the town, next to the church and museum and a couple of leafy parks. Our room was a good; nicely laid out, with nice amenities. It was romantic and comfortable. The staff is absolutely lovely - everyone we talked to was service-oriented and ready to help, and the people we talked to were from the local area so offered nice ideas and made our short stay more personal. Gouda is really tiny and it’s really cute, despite the raging tourism around cheese. It’s one of those places that you wish was less discovered, but we whiled away an afternoon in a café, walked the quieter streets and canals, and had a very nice weekend.

Got a great last minute rate and loved my stay. Beautiful old building in a great location behind the church and close, but quiet, part of the city close to the shopping streets. Wonderful staff. Lots of stairs!!!|I would love to return one day.
