Ideally there would be an option to give half points - I was torn between 3 and 4 and would have given 3.5 if possible. ||The positives, first:|-The building is beautiful. It was delightful to wander around the public rooms. |-The lady on reception, whose name we could not remember, was lovely. She was friendly, informative and animated.|-The room was quiet and peaceful.|-Bed and pillows very comfortable - not as common an occurrence as it should be.|-Nardo itself is a very beautiful town. It had still not fully opened after Winter, and finding places to eat etc was sometimes a bit challenging but the town itself was full of architectural beauty and interest.||And the not so positives: |-The plumbing in the shower was virtually non-functional. We live in a very large house ourselves and understand the difficulties of pumping water round miles of pipes. But even so, something needs to be done here. The shower was one of those with a subsidiary nozzle where you have to press a button to make the water come out of the overhead nozzle. Except that it didn't reliably - during one shower, the water dropped out from the overhead nozzle about ten times. Probably that is because the pressure is lamentable - the flow rate was so bad it felt like standing in drizzle. And it took about 3 minutes for hot water to reach the shower - at first we thought there was no hot water and eventually worked out that you had to turn the shower on, go off and do something else like clean your teeth, and then return. Overall, not good enough - a hotel which charges 100 euros in the off season should offer a proper shower.|-The room, especially the bathroom, was looking a bit knocked about and in need of attention. The floor of the shower was a beautiful mosaic, and the basin an old marble affair, which were absolutely lovely, but the paintwork was a bit tatty.|-There was not a feeling of generosity - everything over and above the room rate came with an extra charge. Even the bottles of water in the room. We stayed in other places on the trip and they all came with free water. One even came with a complementary bottle of wine and a couple of pasticciotto.
