Relais Orso, a Design Boutique Hotel Rome, Italy

"Relais Orso is a design accomodation located in the heart of Rome, just 200 metres from Piazza Navona square. Set in a 17th-century town house, its rooftop terrace offers panoramic views across the city. Designed by Italian architect Danilo Maglio, Relais Orso combines old with new. The original features of the townhouse include original floors and the 15th-century marble door. The property's stylish wine bar is set in the original cloisters. Opened in 2012, the property is just across the Tiber River from Castel Sant'Angelo. It is 600 metres from the Pantheon and an 8-minute walk from Rome's most exclusive shopping district on Via dei Condotti. Rooms and suites feature oak floors, and exposed red-brick walls. A continental breakfast buffet is served daily. With its open-plan kitchen and atmospheric fireplace, the restaurant serves a mix of Roman dishes and international cuisine. Twizy electric cars, which allows you to circulate in the historic centre, can be hired on site." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Amazing hotel for the price. Stayed 3 nights 29 dec to 01 jan 26. Very helpful and polite staff, brilliant location, reasonable price and very clean. They allowed us to check out late with no charge and there is a secure bag storage area once you have checked out. The only small criticism is the shower gels provided are tiny bottles that dont really lather up... that's it!

Relais Orso felt like our home away from home during our 8-night stay. This is a truly great place to stay in Rome—it is sufficiently equipped, very well-kept, and perfectly located. We loved that we could walk everywhere, including the Vatican, Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps, and the Pantheon. Best of all, the staff are great. They were always willing and able to help with any of our needs, making our stay easy and pleasant. We highly recommend Relais Orso and will definitely be back!

My partner and I had a great experience at Relais Orso. First of all upon arrival, my partner was down with a fever, I contacted the hotel and Martina earnestly made her best efforts to check us into a room. She also arranged for a taxi from the airport that was a much needed comfort. We were able to check in early, and the rest of the stay was completely smooth. The beds were extremely comfortable, the rooms are clean, there is a working elevator which is incredible for such a historic building. You are nicely situated near piazza navona and pretty much central to all the attractions. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

I booked this hotel and realised within 20 minutes I had booked the wrong dates. The hotel are unwilling to cancel the booking so very disappointing service despite the fact they will have plenty of time to relist the property for someone else. Would not recommend Update When I arrived at the hotel I was informed that the hotel was “fully booked”. The hotel clearly didn’t cancel my booking but assumed I wouldn’t show up - I paid almost £1,000 so I had to change my plans so I wouldn’t waste my money - and had sold my room. The fact they said the hotel was “fully booked” was a lie. As they had a “premium room” available which they eventually booked me in for the first night then moved me to a cheaper room. This was was disruptive. The rooms are small. The walls are thin - in the “premium” room I could hear the room next door having sex In the cheaper room I could hear every noise by the neighbours as well as the noise from the hallway. The hairdrier didn’t work properly, made an awful burning smell that stuck to my clothes and hair. Toilet doesn’t flash properly - takes a few goes No complimentary water after I was moved room Toiliteries were different from the “premium” compared to the “cheap” room (no toothbrush/toothpaste/razor provided in cheaper room) No breakfast is included despite the price. The staff tried to blame me for the hotel double booking my room (despite not cancelling my booking and taking my money). They went to great lengths to explain and juarify their position but talked over me and said my original review didn’t reflect the service but reflected the booking policy - the service was that I paid almost £1000 for a hotel for them to double book my room and showing zero flexibility in their policy when they clearly could relist the room. I have stayed in much nicer hotels and Airbnbs in Rome and wouldn’t recommend this hotel ar all.

My friend and I just stayed here this past weekend and I think this place is best hotel when visiting Rome. The women at the front desk are so kind and sweet, and extremely accommodating! The room was decently sized for a good price in Rome and the location was stunning and while quiet, felt very safe. I didn't get to spend much time on the rooftop, but it was stunning! They also have hotel transportation available; extremely easy as they book it for you, and the driver I had was very kind and professional! I can't wait to go back and stay here!

Google
What a gem! Our travel agent recommended this place and it was absolutely magnificent! Right off the busy road and tucked into an alley. The service was excellent! I wish we had more days in Rome so we could have taken advantage of the rooftop lounge. Would definitely stay here again!

This hotel is pretty basic. It does not have much in the way of amenities, other than a serviceable rooftop bar. The room was very tight, but nothing that I haven’t experienced in other major cities where real estate (and hotel rooms) are very expensive. On the other hand, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic. Walking distance to everything but in a quiet neighborhood. We did have one incident where our “neighbors“ were having an argument in the hallway, and then loud make-up sex, in the wee hours of the morning. I can’t hold the hotel, responsible for that, though!

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and I couldn’t have been happier with our choice. It is perfectly located. The hotel is within walking distance of all the major sights in the city. It was clean and quiet and the staff were very nice. We wound definitely stay here again.

Yelp
This place is awesome. I don't get the negative reviews. And I am pretty picky. Staff is so nice. Room is modern and hip. There's a really chill roof top. Great location. It is a boutique hotel so it's small. I've seen other hotels in Rome in this price range and it's not even up for discussion. A+++

Yelp
Tucked just a few blocks away from Piazza Navona, Relais Orso is a small boutique hotel on the Tiber river. If you're expecting 24 hour concierge and room service, Relais Orso is not for you, but if you want more of an apartment feel and want to venture out on your own without breaking the bank, Relais Orso is the perfect place for you. The staff are very friendly and were extremely helpful in pointing us toward great restaurants and attractions. We did get locked out once, but within 10 minutes they came back and let us in. Very conveniently located on the river by the Pantheon and only 10 minutes from the Vatican and other major attractions.

Yelp
The staff here was friendly but the rooms, are not quite what you would expect. Our first room had a broken toilet seat. When we mentioned this to the concierge she begrudgingly upgraded us to a suite (major win right? Wrong). The suite looked really nice (again stylish) but the craw foot bath tub didn't work (or we couldn't figure out how to make it work) and the electricity made a loud buzzing sound when activated by the card so we couldn't charge our phones while sleeping. Pros Very stylish with rooms named after famous authors from around Europe. Friendly staff and a continental breakfast. Central role only minutes away from restaurants and the pantheon. Cons The rooms are not sound proof (understatement). The whole place feels cheaply made and expect something to be broken. I wouldn't really know who to recommend this place to bc its either too expensive for what it actually offers or too cheap to meet the needs of discerning hotel aficionados.

Yelp
Great location. Pleasant staff. Reasonable price. Why only one star? The air conditioning was broken when we arrived. Despite promises that help was on the way, the air conditioning was off when we left three days later. No word from management about a rebate. Not even an apology. Unacceptable.

Yelp
Walls are not well sound insulated. You can hear every time your neighbor received a text message or speaks at all (every word as if you're in the next room with the door open). The bathroom is terribly designed with a uncomfortable square toilet that my wife could fall into the seat is so wide. The sink is never dry because it's higher in the middle where the drain is. The shower is tiny and is difficult to wash you legs without either changing the water temp with your back, having your arm knock the door open, or knocking into the soap rack thing. The room is tiny with only room for maybe one carry-on sized bag. The photos on the web site is of their more expensive rooms. Our room as smaller than the smallest one we've had even on a cruise ship.

Yelp
Great value for money trendy boutique hotel in good centro storico location. Very close to Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Outstanding customer service from Daniela at front desk and her colleagues. Hotel resto is unexciting but on some nights bar gets a good local out turn. There are several really good non-tourist restos a few steps away like Orso 80 and Lagana. Recommended.
