We stayed at Relais San Giuliano for four nights. While the property itself is undeniably beautiful, there are several points future guests should be aware of.
First, the location is far from ideal if you are seeking activities or a lively atmosphere. The surrounding town is very quiet with little to do, and the hotel sits directly beside a road where the 30 km/h speed limit is often ignored. Cars regularly sped past, which not only created noise but also made walking in the area feel somewhat unsafe.
The hotel’s design and aesthetic are lovely and well thought out. However, the service fell short of expectations, especially given the price point. One of the main reasons we choose boutique hotels is for the attentive, personalized service. Yet here it felt more like staying at a bed and breakfast. Staff were difficult to find, and we received no real attention throughout our stay.
When we raised a cleanliness concern, the reaction from the staff was surprisingly dismissive. At checkout, there was no assistance offered with luggage or any gesture to make up for the issue.
Overall, while the property looks charming, the lack of service and disappointing attitude from staff left us underwhelmed.
