Where to Stay in Quebec City When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"I think this cute inn on rue Saint-Jean is ideally located (just a 10-minute walk from the Old Town); the rooms have flat-screen TVs and a desk and are simply but tastefully decorated with lots of natural light, hardwood floors, and exposed brick. The beds are super comfy, some suites have a private terrace and jacuzzi, and there’s a common rooftop terrace with panoramic views over the city." - Matthew Kepnes

The 5 Best Hotels in Quebec City (Updated 2025)

"Just a 10-minute walk from the Old Town, this cute three-star inn has simply but tastefully decorated rooms with lots of natural light, hardwood floors, colorful walls, and some exposed brick. All rooms include flatscreen TVs, a desk, and super comfy beds, and some suites offer a private terrace and jacuzzi if you want to splurge. There’s no breakfast, but every room has a Nespresso machine and coffee/tea is available in the common area 24/7; you’re also within walking distance of many dining options. I especially like the common rooftop terrace with panoramic city views, the ability to reserve a parking spot, and the convenient digital check-in if you’re arriving at an odd hour." - Matthew Kepnes

I stayed at RELAIS THALASSO Pornichet | Château des Tourelles, and while the property has some standout features, the overall experience did not meet expectations for a luxury-level hotel. The indoor pool and hammam were the highlight—clean, warm, and genuinely relaxing. The spa facilities are beautifully maintained, and the staff were friendly and courteous throughout. The valet service was excellent—professional, prompt, and they even cleaned the windshield, which was a thoughtful touch. However, several serious issues detracted from our stay: • Our room wasn’t ready at the 4:00 PM check-in time, and we waited until 4:30 PM with no explanation or apology. • Once inside, the bedroom carpet was stained and covered in dog hair, clearly not vacuumed, and the furnishings were dated and not clean—far below the standard you’d expect at this price point. • A clogged shower drain caused flooding across the bathroom and into the carpet. While maintenance temporarily cleared it, they only put down towels—no fan, no offer to move rooms, and no follow-up from management. • We had an appointment with the on-site events planner, which we canceled after the incident. No acknowledgment or response was ever received. • Dinner service was disorganized—appetizers arrived before any drinks or bread, and there was little explanation about the multiple menus. Very limited options were available for seafood allergies, though the veal chop we eventually chose was excellent. • Breakfast food was good, but service was again lacking—slow, inattentive, and disjointed, especially considering the hotel’s standards. • At checkout, no one asked how our stay was, even though we had reported a major issue. In short, while the spa and valet team stood out, the lack of cleanliness, guest care, and basic service coordination throughout the rest of the stay was disappointing. This hotel has the potential to be exceptional, but it needs serious attention to detail and hospitality standards to truly deliver a luxury experience.

Yes, what can we say. 5 stats, across the board. Excellent location on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Swimming pool as well with view and indoor swimming as well. Just great.

Absolutely fantastic hotel thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with two young children. The facilities, including the pool and gym were excellent and the quality of food from the restaurant was superb. The staff throughout are polite, friendly and engaging and really made us feel at home. We hope to be back soon.

We were attributed 2 side-by-side sea-view rooms (as per booking request), but unfortunately one of the rooms (#233) was really not suitable for use with children or non-smokers as it was very smelly and previous guests had clearly been smoking in there! So we ended up with slightly more distant rooms (#231 & 235) as a result of our initial complaint. Other than that initial complication, our stay at the Chateau des Tourelles was great. We loved the very adequately equipped rooms (nice furniture, coffee/tea machine), great balcony and blackout curtains. The A/C worked also well when needed (one day was very hot). The restaurant and reception staff was very helpful. We particularly loved our breakfasts and dinner at the hotel. The voiturier service was also excellent. Maybe the only point we felt could be slightly improved: the child-friendliness of the place is not so great. Kids are basically ‘tolerated’ at the spa at certain hours (without child-sized bathrobes available though -unless you bring your own-), but some of the other guests seemed to think otherwise. We ended up using the Club des Dauphins (15 min walk away) to make our children time in Pornichet a little more enjoyable for this family vacation. Thank you for a nice stay.

Google
I ordered here because I was delighted last time, especially because the breakfast was delicious. But this time it was more disappointing, the breakfast was not like last year. I wonder what happened. For the price range, this hotel operates in, the quality should be high, and the parking was an extra fee. I also see that the carpet in the rooms is getting worn, not very delicate. The spa department should have had longer opening hours. The location is good, and the staff are charming and helpful. Unfortenly, I don't think I will return for next time.

Amazing stay we had here at chateaux des tourelles, we had a room on the top floor and wow what a view you have if you wake up before sunrise to go enjoy your breakfast , that's very fulfilling might i say. Open Oysters,Salmon,Champagne and much more! Thank you Chateaux!!

The hotel is nice with a splendid view. The spa is also great. The breakfast is the best from the hotel. The prestige room is around 370euro. One suggestion for the hotel maybe you can organize a welcome drink in the room or to the reception with a champagne or some chocolate.

Disappointed. We booked the hotel for our last night of travels( a tues) after 3 weeks away cycling and exploring France, in order to have a lazy evening and eat at the highly rated restaurant. On checking in, just before the official checkin time, we were told that the restaurant was full! This surprised us as we had assumed hotel guests would be offered a table as a matter of course. They really couldn’t help us even to offer to call us if a cancellation occurred as I requested. The best reception could do was suggest we talk the consiege who recommended a restaurant that was 30 mins walk (apparently we could cycle there if we were too tired to walk!) and which was I subsequently found out was closed for the winter! On thé positivé side, the bar staff were really helpful and the room service meal we had whilst restricted in choice, was good. The Spa was adequate and it was nice to be able to use it before checking out. In summary would have expected better for the price and reputation.
