Relais Villa San Martino

"Master restorer Martino Solíto reconstructed this nineteenth-century farmhouse on the outskirts of the medieval/Baroque town of Martina Franca using only original materials and furnishing it with local antiques and Louis XVI–style pieces made by skilled artisans. The stunning result is a pink-and-white terra-cotta villa of 21 rooms and suites swathed in silks and damasks in blue, gold, green, and rose custom-made at San Léucio, the silkworks established by the Bourbon kings in the eighteenth century. Big TVs, DVD players, and Internet access add a technological touch to the period elegance. In the basement, the Moroccan-influenced spa includes a gym with a sauna and a steam room."

Relais Villa San Martino (Martina Franca, Puglia) 1 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Even as it gains momentum as a sun-drenched Italian holiday destination, it’s worth remembering that Puglia has been here a long time. Why exactly it’s booming right now is anyone’s guess, but they didn’t just knock the place together out of plywood and plaster in a bid to divert tourist dollars out of Tuscany. It’s a place with a quite distinct history and style, both of which are on display at the Relais Villa San Martino, at the edge of the old town of Martina Franca." - Tablet Hotels

This is an amazing hotel |1. Food - incredible breakfast, with the tastiest cakes you can find. The restaurant on premises, Trattoria, was delicious - dishes were fresh with good variety. |2. Service - 5/5 from check in, to breakfast, to dinner. Everyone was pleasant, fun to talk too and took care of every request.|3. Premises - beautiful territory, with a huge pool, the rooms felt sufficiently spacious, there is also a gym with all the basics. |4. Vibe - when we were there the hotel was not completely full and it felt super tranquil and relaxing. |5. We just wish we had booked more nights

Came expecting a spa and wellness retreat as per Booking.com. Reality - soa was closed even though all facilities were listed in the booking confirmation when they took our prepayment days before arrival. We were not given the prepaid Junior Suite with terrace / but a ground floor room off reception adjacent to the car park with people walking by constantly and early wakeups as no staff in reception to answer the phone. Both restaurants closed on Monday so ordered room service. Almost 2 hours to get food from the bar snacks menu!|Beautiful pool but there are other places nearby. Martins Franca is lovely - save your money and book somewhere else!

We spent a week at Villa San Martino and absolutely loved this elegant hotel with beautiful surrounding grounds, including a trulli restaurant that we had dinner at three times because the food was so delicious. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, healthy and everything was made on-site. The location is convenient to visit popular towns in Puglia. We would then spend the other half of the day by the pool. It was very relaxing. Our room had old world charm, was clean and comfortably fitted 4 adults (parents and 2 teen children). The staff were very friendly and helpful, we started to feel like family by the end of our stay. We were travelling for 4 weeks and stayed at 9 different accommodations. Villa San Martino was the highlight of all the hotels we stayed at.

Lovely hotel, lost in the south of Italy. The food is amazing, the pool is giant and calm. Only 21 rooms so it’s never overcrowded.

It is not a 5-star hotel experience whatsoever. We had two different rooms in two different buildings. Here is a summary of our experience: you have to wait 20 minutes for hot water, and the staff says that’s normal; the A/C turns off automatically after a while, so you have to keep turning it back on, which is a major problem at night; towels are not replaced but simply re-hung; the gym doesn’t have working A/C; and the breakfast is very poor (although the coffee and juices are great). The list goes on and on. On the good side, the staff was great and tried their best to accommodate us considering the circumstances.

AVOID at all cost! You have been warned! This place is a disgrace: we have just been here 1 night so far but we have unfortunately booked 5 nights. The chaise longue at the pool are so old they fall apart and some are even dangerous with rusted screws pointing out. Our bedroom was not made. No hand soap is provided even after asking. Breakfast was a disaster: empty “buffet” and coffee service taking ages and getting orders wrong and mixed up with other customers. The room we received and had to wait for when we arrived was a disgrace how distrustful and filthy it was and thankfully they moved us to another room after we complained. A couple of photos attached. I don’t know how people can give more than 1 star to this place. Maybe 10 years ago it was nice but this is definitely not the case anymore and we feel robbed for paying such a high price for this very poor hotel experience.

Beautiful hotel with professional staff. Delicious breakfast buffet with cooked to order eggs. I am deducting one star because our room was at the back of the pool house and we had to wait an eternity for limited hot water. If you stay here you have to look out for a post at the end of the turnoff road with chevrons on and press the button to ask the reception to open the gate. It is easily missed and not signposted.

Please save your money and do not book here! This is not a 5 star experience at all. We stayed here at the end of May 2025. We were given one key card to share and shown to our room which was nice, this was around 6:30pm. The room door was very stiff and we accidently locked ourselves out. We were told that there was no other key card and this was the only master card. They explained after a storm they did not fix the entries to a lot of rooms so unfortunately there was no way to access. There was no option but to wait until the cleaners came in the morning between 8-10am. EVERYTHING was in our room, including money, passport, car keys, medicine that was needed. We were given another room with a broken toilet seat and dirty, we were then given a third room just to sleep in. The next morning our room was ready and open, no one called to inform us that it was open with all our valuables in there. We spoke to the front desk who explained they will inform booking.com for money back but this did not happen. They have ignored messages from booking.com and not made any comment about their original agreement for money back on our stay. I feel as a supposed 5 star hotel they should have better access to rooms especially for emergencies. There was no option to give it 0 stars
