Relais Villa Vittoria, Laglio, Lake Como, Italy - Explore & Book

"In general, the thought of minimalism seems to give Italian interior designers a heart attack. But here at Relais Villa Vittoria, on the banks of Lake Como, a little restraint has yielded beautiful results. What was once a holiday home for a Milanese noble family is now an elegant 19-room hideaway, with gauzy curtains billowing on four-poster beds, cosy nooks for savouring wine, and lawns that spill down to an infinity pool overlooking the water. It has a fresh and contemporary feel, with high ceilings, lots of light, and the bonus of a superb restaurant in the conservatory. It has history, too - the mulberry garden raised silkworms for the area’s famous fabrics - but never revels in it. Come here to relax and be cossetted, indulging in massages in the small spa and snoozing under the jasmine pergola in the garden, the peace broken only by the gentle hum of passing boats and seaplanes. Or take to the lake yourselves on the hotel’s kayaks (or hire a boat) and picnic in secluded spots unreachable by road. After dark, linger over dinner on the terrace as lights sparkle on the opposite shore. We loved it, and we can’t wait to return. Highs The glamorous infinity pool, set near the water's edge - it’s almost like you’re swimming in the lake (but it’s much warmer!) Smart, spacious rooms, most with stunning views. Splash out on a suite if it's a special occasion We liked the pared-back Italian style on show here Fantastic food and local vintages to sample, plus several famous restaurants nearby if you want to eat out There’s lots to do around Lake Como: boat trips to pretty harbour towns, villas and gardens to visit, hiking and climbing in the surrounding hills Lows The village of Laglio is a quiet spot on busy Lake Como - perhaps too quiet for some You need a car to get the most out of the area It's a popular venue for weddings, especially in high season Dinner is quite expensive, but the quality and setting is well worth it The lift is small (fitting 4 people), slow and a little rickety We haven't seen the new rooms in the Casa Cecilia Annexe for ourselves yet, but their views look dreamy" - Abi Dare

My wife and I had our wedding at Relais Villa Vittoria, and honestly, it was the best decision we could have made. This place isn't just a hotel, it's a slice of paradise run by some of the most genuinely caring people you'll ever meet. The owner, Laura, was a true hero throughout the entire process. She was incredibly conscientious of my wife, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. She hooked us up with the best locals—from the amazing pastry chef who made our stunning wedding cake to the photographer who captured every moment beautifully. She even helped us arrange boat rides for our guests and a private dinner, going so far as to close down the restaurant just for us so we could take photos and enjoy a truly magical, intimate evening. Laura is the best The villa itself is simply breathtaking. The grounds are meticulously kept, and the views of Lake Como from the beautiful and serene pool are absolutely immaculate. Our room was wild too—the most authentic and beautiful accommodations we could have asked for. But what truly sets this place apart is the staff. They are extraordinary—so warm and attentive that they made us and all of our guests feel like family. They made sure our wedding day was an absolute dream. If you're looking for an unforgettable Lake Como experience, whether it's for a special event or a getaway, you have to come here. Relais Villa Vittoria didn't just meet our expectations; it blew them out of the water.

Definitely less than I expected for a four star hotel. Starting with the good, the room and the views were fantastic. It was very serene and relaxing. We stayed in Casa Cecilia, a sort of annex of the main hotel. It was private, we had our own outside space with grass and a little table. I wish I had known about how many stairs would be required to get from the hotel up to our room, not to mention the walk up the small “two-lane” road with very little shoulder nor lighting. We also felt that the service was lacking. The staff, while pleasant and polite, felt rushed and annoyed when we had questions beyond the typical check in/out. On the second night, we thought it would be nice to order room service from the hotel restaurant. Not only did they ask us to walk down to the hotel to order in person, they asked us to wait in the lobby while they prepared everything. Being guests of the hotel, we assumed we would be given plates and metal cutlery to eat with. Unfortunately, they gave us flat wooden cutlery (single use) and all of the food was packaged in take out boxes… AND my husband had to bring it up to our room! Not what we expected for a 4-star hotel and paying this much for it. The WiFi/internet could also be improved. We spent a lot of time in our room because of the storm and this was a point of frustration for us. The breakfast was a high point for our stay. The staff was always so friendly, made us cappuccinos, and always had a full stock. We had breakfast at the hotel every morning we were there. I can’t remember her name, but the woman working in the breakfast room from Sri Lanka was fantastic and so lovely. If you’re staying in Laglio, I would recommend to rent a car. We were here during a big rain storm and taxis/ubers were extremely difficult to find and were expensive when we did find them. I’m sure it would have been easier without the rain, but you can never predict the weather. There also is not that much to walk to in this area and the closest ferry is a 2 mile walk or a bus ride away.

I stayed to attend a wedding. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Our room was beautiful but the amount of mold on the walls and in the bathroom were horrible. Huge amounts of black mold over a foot in diameter in each location I found it throughout the room. I have asthma and now on steroids to help with the rashes and itchy skin. The shower drain would never stay down and always backed up. I paid for breakfast room service for both days of my stay and a cart was never left in our room despite being promised. It was beautiful but it was not worth paying over $1000 for 2 nights. Then when I checked out they said I had a dinner charge which never happened since I was joining a wedding event and attended a rehearsal dinner as well as the wedding dinner the next time. Thankfully they took that fee off as it was a mistake. Sadly I wouldn’t recommend coming here to stay.

Before I begin, I want to be clear: I am not the type to leave negative reviews. In fact, I usually take the time only to share positive feedback and highlight what businesses are doing well. Unfortunately, in this case, I feel compelled to offer a constructive review, because our experience at Relais Villa Vittoria in Lake Como was deeply disappointing—and not at all what we expected from a property rated as a four-star hotel.||We arrived before check-in, which we knew was early, but we were told we’d be notified as soon as our room was ready. We decided to wait by the pool with our two children. Unfortunately, the pool area would not serve any lunch or snacks, even though snacks were listed on the menu—they apparently aren’t available until after 6 PM. Our kids were already in their bathing suits, so we couldn’t just head upstairs for lunch due to them being wet and in bathing suits. Eventually, we were told the upstairs restaurant would be closing early due to a wedding, so we rushed up in hopes of grabbing something before it shut down. Only at that point were we told, almost as an afterthought, that our room was ready.||The front desk staff, particularly one woman, was neither helpful nor welcoming. It quickly became apparent that this is not a family-friendly hotel. While the property might market itself as luxurious, it seemed clear that guests with children were not exactly embraced.||When we got to our room, we found multiple issues. There was broken glass on the floor, a damaged TV stand in the second bedroom, a broken mirror stand, and a telescope that couldn’t be used because its brackets were broken. The air conditioning didn’t work despite our repeated requests to have it checked. We were told it was working—but it clearly wasn’t. Thankfully, we were able to sleep with the windows open due to cooler weather at night. The beds were also quite uncomfortable.||The bathroom situation was another disappointment. The “shower” is actually a bathtub with a narrow, glass cylinder partition—making it virtually unusable. My husband, who is 6’4”, couldn’t even fit. On top of that, only one of the showerheads worked; the rest were broken.||But perhaps the most frustrating part of our stay was the hotel’s wedding schedule. What we didn’t realize—and what’s not made very clear upfront—is that Relais Villa Vittoria functions more like a wedding venue with hotel rooms than the other way around. There was a wedding every single night during our stay- let’s call it a wedding carousel. Each one took over the entire property, spanning all three levels, and effectively blocked guests from using the grounds. We were essentially confined to our rooms each evening due to the noise, crowds, and exclusivity of the events. And given the hotel’s fairly remote location, there’s nowhere else convenient to go in the evenings.||On a more positive note, the servers and hotel staff (outside of the front desk) were very kind, and the food was okay—not amazing, but decent.||All in all, we were genuinely excited about staying at this hotel, and we really wanted to love it. But the reality didn’t come close to our expectations. We couldn’t wait to leave and, sadly, we will not be returning.

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting our wedding at Villa Vittoria. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations — from the beautiful rooms, to the warm hospitality, and the exceptional service. A special thank you goes to Laura, our phenomenal wedding coordinator! Planning a destination wedding from the USA could have been overwhelming, but Laura made the entire process stress-free. The wedding dinner was absolutely delicious, authentic, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. And the Pizza Party the night before was such a hit with all our guests! We will absolutely be coming back to Villa Vittoria — not just because it holds such a special place in our hearts, but because it’s simply an exceptional place to stay! We recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a romantic getaway, a beautiful vacation, or a truly magical wedding venue. Grazie Villa Vittoria & Laura! 💕

Beautiful views, a great spot, fabulous food for lunch and dinner. |The staff were polite but not engaging, the stay was made so much better by Claudio, who made us feel so welcome.|We will say that the downside as mentioned by other guests is that we do feel somewhat secondary to the wedding guests that were on a daily conveyer belt of ceremonies, which interrupted a nice relaxing time by the pool|Thanks again to Claudio, great conversations and you make a great Cioccolata Calda!|Mike and Claire

We just had our wedding at Relais Villa Vittoria and it was the best decision we could have made! Our wedding was only 20 people and it was the perfect intimate space for that amount. The service, the people, the food, and the VIEWS were unreal. Even better than the photos!!! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Heading to Lake Como and looking for a quiet and charming hotel that's away from the heavy tourist spots? You may want to consider Relais Villa Vittoria. Researching the area, I came across this hotel on Mr & Mrs Smith, which specializes in boutique hotels. Villa Vittoria is located in Laglio, which is a super tiny town on the lake. In fact, this town is now best known thanks to George Clooney. He lives there. This is more of a destination hotel in that it is not in a busy town with eateries and shops. Laglio is so small there is basically just a church. Seriously! Keep this in mind if you are someone that prefers to be able to walk to restaurants and shops from your hotel. From here you either have to catch the commuter ferry, taxi boat or drive. The villa has an interesting history, like most places in the Como area. Its garden was used for the raising silkworms to produce silk, which is one of the most important things to know about Lake Como! There are twelve rooms- some offer lake views. The rooms are small but decently appointed. Complimentary wifi, air conditioning, lock boxes, spacious bathrooms with nice amenities. Breakfast is included in your stay and it's a traditional Italian spread with fresh fruit, bread, sweets, cereals, yogurt and of course cold cuts and cheeses. The hotel also has an infinity pool with a lovely lake view. The hotel staff is helpful in arranging for pretty much any activity you can think of on the lake. Relais Vittoria is intimate and relaxing.

Yelp
The most romantic and picturesque setting for my son and daughter-in-law's beautiful wedding. The staff is extremely kind and willing to help you with any requests. They made the whole experience so memorable and personal. On top of that, I accidentally left some heirloom jewelry in my room. They were kind enough to locate it and have it shipped immediately to the U.S. I will be forever grateful.
