We stayed here on a fall long weekend roadtrip, just for one night - wish we could have stayed longer. This is our favorite sort of B&B - a unique home with a few guest rooms, tucked away in a picturesque quiet country valley, near some interesting small towns, and pretty inexpensive. We stayed in The Playhouse Room, which was comfortable and quiet, and interesting - we had fun recognizing some of the toys on the shelf. We enjoyed the views of the valley from the dining area and deck, and sharing the company of a friendly family of cats (normally kept separate from the guests, unless you want to visit with them). Breakfast was vegetarian, which we appreciated (we're not strictly vegetarian, but we eat that way when the choices are good), and Jane (the owner) was accommodating to special dietary needs. There's a downstairs kitchette for some of the rooms, which is convenient if you want to make any of your own food or drinks.||What to do here: For dinner, I heartily recommend the Driftless Cafe, about 35 miles away in Viroqua (not very close, but if you happen to be out to the west, or if you're looking for an excuse to explore the countryside). There are a couple antique stores in Richland Center (the nearest town). If you're interested in Frank Lloyd Wright, this isn't far from his Taliesin estate, and if you're really interested, Jane has a connection to the A.D. German Warehouse, which is being developed as a future attraction in town. I have the impression that there's a lot more to do in this part of the Driftless Area, and I also would have liked to simply take a walk around the property (if the weather had been a bit better). We'll be back.
