I've stayed at a lot of B&Bs over the years and R and R, for my money, tops them all! Comfortable, welcoming, fun, the owner has thought of everything to make her home feel like a home for road-worn visitors. No detail has been overlooked. Access to a small private kitchen is wonderful, as is guests' own comfy living room. Bathrooms are generously-sized. Breakfasts were wonderful. The modern home is gorgeous, fun, and uncluttered. The rural setting is a real treat. If you like, you can meet the social, playful resident kitties. I just loved it and hope to be back soon.

We stayed here on a fall long weekend roadtrip, just for one night - wish we could have stayed longer. This is our favorite sort of B&B - a unique home with a few guest rooms, tucked away in a picturesque quiet country valley, near some interesting small towns, and pretty inexpensive. We stayed in The Playhouse Room, which was comfortable and quiet, and interesting - we had fun recognizing some of the toys on the shelf. We enjoyed the views of the valley from the dining area and deck, and sharing the company of a friendly family of cats (normally kept separate from the guests, unless you want to visit with them). Breakfast was vegetarian, which we appreciated (we're not strictly vegetarian, but we eat that way when the choices are good), and Jane (the owner) was accommodating to special dietary needs. There's a downstairs kitchette for some of the rooms, which is convenient if you want to make any of your own food or drinks.||What to do here: For dinner, I heartily recommend the Driftless Cafe, about 35 miles away in Viroqua (not very close, but if you happen to be out to the west, or if you're looking for an excuse to explore the countryside). There are a couple antique stores in Richland Center (the nearest town). If you're interested in Frank Lloyd Wright, this isn't far from his Taliesin estate, and if you're really interested, Jane has a connection to the A.D. German Warehouse, which is being developed as a future attraction in town. I have the impression that there's a lot more to do in this part of the Driftless Area, and I also would have liked to simply take a walk around the property (if the weather had been a bit better). We'll be back.

My husband and I traveled to this area to do some biking and hiking--not disappointed.||We stayed one night at Rembrandt and Rutabagas, a very different and artsy B&B with different decor. Upper level room has a king size bed (soft mattress),windows and a private bathroom. The main floor where I stayed also had a private bathroom available through a storage area, but no windows. It had 2 full beds( firm mattresses) and was quite dark and simple decor with fine art prints on the wall. It was a bit too warm at night as was the upper level. But if you like it cold, take the lower level room decorated with antique toys and has a private bathroom. There are a couple of other rooms that share a bathroom. The lower level also has a kitchnette and a small sitting area with a small patio. The main and upper level have very nice sitting areas( lots of room). Breakfast was yogurt and fruit with some delicious egg bakes and fruit juice. What would have been a nice touch is some sort of bread or muffin with the eggs. The B&B sits on a 200 acre of land and is a very pretty country area. The cleanliness was ok. Jane is a wonderful host who knows a lot about the area and Frank Lloyd Wright ( who was born in Richland Center).

I have nothing but great things to say about this place! Calm, cool, and comfortable. The Owner, Jane, is top notch and fabulous. She is always interested in your life and can talk to you about anything. She's an art teacher and it reflects with her decor and ambiance- warm and inviting. Art is her love and passion and it shows; she has student art projects on display. The views from her place are gorgeous in any season of the year; private, yet open at the same time. The food she prepare is delicious! I feel that anyone can feel welcomed and at home at Rembrandt and Rutabagas.||||And the best part? Well, I should say one of the best parts? Her cats! I have stayed before when she only had Gladys, a beautiful gray cat. Now she has 5 (The Quints) that have their own personalities. They are fun to be around and make for some great cuddling time. ||||Rembrandt and Rutabagas is located just outside of Richland Center (birth place of Frank Lloyd Wright), so if you're in the Madison or La Crosse areas, I implore you to visit this place! Thank You, Jane!

I was in Richland Center for a not-so-happy occasion (setting of a family member's gravestone). Staying at R&R, meeting Jane Kintz, enjoying her outstanding breakfasts, impeccable decor, luxurious and immaculate bathrooms, local knowledge, and country setting made it a much more pleasant experience. A one-of-a-kind B&B that is well worth a visit. Della room has a very comfy mattress.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Richland Center and loved staying at Rembrandt & Rutabagas! Jane is such a gracious host and our accomodations were excellent. Last time, we stayed in the king bed upstairs with downed padding. Super comfortable! We usually visit this town once a year and always look forward to staying at R&R!

I stumbled upon Rembrandt and Rutabagas in a Mid Century Modern group on Facebook. I was thrilled when I discovered it was only a little more than an hour away in the most beautiful countryside of Wisconsin. Shortly after discovering R&R my husband and I stayed for two nights in one of the newly remodeled MCM inspired rooms. Jane made us feel like family! We were introduced to her lovely cats, made breakfasts that were dietary restriction friendly and given local attractions to explore. Jane even set up a tour for us with the nicest gentleman at the A.D. German Warehouse in Richland Center. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and exploring God's Country! We will be back!

Jane is a very nice, sweet and welcoming host, but I am very sad to say that the B & B is just not up to par. No signs mark the house. We had booked two nights while in Richland Center on business but left after the first night. We had expressed concern about the internet service and had been reassured it would be adequate. It was not. The house is decorated in a fun eclectic style. We stayed in the playroom on the lower level (think basement) which as musty smelling. Our room was cluttered with mid-century toys and art that Jane did as a child. The toys and shelves were very dusty—a visible layer of dust on everything. The common sitting area and kitchenette area downstairs were also to the cleanest although neat. The refrigerator was not plugged in and the microwave was very small. The TVs are vintage. The bathroom had dust and hair along the wall. We were bitten by several small flying bugs and saw other small crawling bugs in the sitting area. I smushed them. The pastoral view was very nice and the host is friendly and welcoming. We just hate that it wasn’t what was represented. ||
