Nature and Parks in Amsterdam

"Like Amsterdam’s similarly named party square, Rembrandtpark commemorates one of the Netherland’s most renowned Golden Age artists. Unlike Rembrandtplein, this bucolic oasis in Amsterdam West is largely ignored by tourists. It features not one but several statues of Rembrandt scattered throughout the park, which is laced with walking and cycling paths and studded with ponds and playgrounds. Rembrandtpark is home to abundant birds and wildlife, as well as Amsterdam’s oldest petting zoo and one of the city’s playgrounds, featuring a water-play area and climbing pyramid for kids." - MATADOR_NETWORK

After visiting this park, I forced my family to walk half an hour the next night so they could see it for themselves. Far better than any tourist establishment, this park was mostly empty save for the terrace festival going on that night. Ducks moved slowly in the water. The concrete waterfall felt slowly and then went still before nighttime. I wanted to sit on the benches and watch it for an entire day but I did not.

More wild than the other parks in Amsterdam, less manicured. I collected wild garlic here, you can find it all around the park in the spring. There is also a kinderboderij with all kinds of farm animals to pet! So sweet.

Amazing park with soft fields and wild nature. Many water features, great cycling paths, and, most importantly, enough public toilets!

This is a family-friendly ecological and cultural park located in the western part of Amsterdam, developed as part of the city’s urban expansion. It features open lawns, waterfronts, and even a small petting zoo, offering a peaceful green retreat. The name was designated in 1958, and the design by F. G. Breman and Janneke Willemsen was adopted in 1970. The park was completed in 1973 and is divided into several zones. While it is shaded by dense trees and offers a tranquil atmosphere, it remains quite dark at night due to the minimal street lighting.

It has grass. It’s green. There’s trees. Dogs walking. It meets all the requirements needed for a good park. 3 cheers and 5 stars.

Beautiful big park to walk or jog around. Lots of beautiful trees and open spaces connected with bridges beside the canals, however most of the trash cans are overflowing or the birds have spread rubbish on the ground. Dog friendly and has a playground.

This is a very nice big park in Amsterdam West. You have here a lot of space to sit on the grass, making sport, playing at the playground. Basketball, soccer and more. Nice nature some small waters. No cars. I love it and will come again. A place for families!

Yelp
Breath taking park, just as beautiful yet not nearly as busy as Vondelpark. It seems like this is were the locals go to avoid the touristy crowd. Peace and serenity at its best!

Yelp
I just love that Amsterdam has so many green spaces! And some of them are rather large. This is one of those parks. There's a nice bike highway here that is pleasant to bike through to avoid the main roads, and really, when you can bike through a park instead of a road, what wouldn't you? There are some water features to sit next to and enjoy. Not sure about you, but I love being next to the water (good thing I live in Amsterdam, right?). It's quieter in this park, so you can easily find some nice picnic spots. Free outdoor exercise equipment are location throughout the park as well, if that's your scene. Personally, I just love being around all the green. There is easy access from the north, south, east, and west, so it's always easy to get in.

Yelp
Very nice park. No problems during Corona. Not uncomfortable walking alone at 6 o'clock in the morning ( in the dark). Beautiful for a walk when the sun comes up. Places for coffee and food right outside the park.( 1 minute)

Yelp
Nice green space in a part of town that can benefit from some quiet. Vondelpark is definitely more of a happening scene, with better people watching. Rembrandt is good place to just work out and get your pulse rate up.

Yelp
It is such a pleasure to cycle through Rembrandt-park. I enjoy following the bike path through this marvelous city west of Amsterdam. Rembrandt-park is situated in a unique location within the ring of Amsterdam. Rembrandt park is named after the famous painter Rembrant Van Rijn, which is noted as someone who exhibited the greatest empathy for life. He was considered one of the greatest painter and print-maker in European Art History. This exceptional and quiet park is located in Amsterdam New West District. There are so many ways to enjoy the simple pleasures of park life here. For instance, take a casual stroll through the park, fitness seeker jump on the jogging trail, or just sit on the grass and soak up the sun on any sunny day. Since 2001, this park and neighborhood has went through a significant amount of urban renewal process. Gentrification in this neighborhood has been regarded as a great improvement to the community.
