My band East Coast Envy hosted a sold out show here on 3/8/2025 and I have to say that it was awesome! From the pinball machines downstairs to the graffiti upstairs, this place was a whole vibe. Sara our bartender was amazing and she was also super responsive with booking. Malik did our sound and while it was rough at first he got it sorted fast and was incredible over all. Definitely a great place to play! We will 100% be back for future shows.

Google
My band played this spot tonight, and I have got to say, Pittsburgh local music scene, you have no idea how much of a gem this is. Everything I loved about the 90s alive today. Cheap drinks , friendly staff, owner started off sling sound for us and then a super laid back guy came in and finished, super accommodating super friendly. 10/10

Google
This was a very unfortunate experience. My husband and i recently moved to the area and were looking for places close by to go. Upon arrival we were greeted with aggressiveness and the bartender screaming at us for incorrectly using the bathroom. The bartender then began to talk about us while we were using the bathrooms, saying we were idiots. It’s really unfortunate because this is our first night life experience in pittsburgh pa as we’re from texas. I cannot recommend this place.

Google
Straight out of american horror story. Referred as hipster. To me this bar is dirty and makes me feel depressed. Alot of negative messages on the walls and i dont think they clean at all. Some cool art. On our way out we got to meet the artist displaying on the walls, they are for sale. Very cool guy, saved our experience at this place

Google
Great hole in the wall bar with cheap drinks! Chandler the bartender was cool. I will definitely be going here again. Update: still the same...

Google
Had a blast watching 2 tribute bands. Made the trip from Ohio to check it out.

Google
Decent dive bar with strong cheap drinks so if you are going to a concert or another venue with high priced drinks, stop in Remedy's and get you a drink or two before you go. The bartenders are very friendly and accommodating. They also have an upstairs with a DJ on the weekends.

EDIT: props to Remedy! They addressed my below review and banned this kids causing trouble. A great bar for chill vibes now! Definitely give them a visit and please tip your bartenders well. A few months ago new owners took over and cleaned the place up significantly. It is a cool bar but somehow after the clean up the people are worse. A few guys decided to call this place “their bar” and are just really unpleasant to be around and aggressive. Unfortunately a few bad apples ruined the whole experience. I’m going to avoid it for that reason. If you want 23 year old children trying to fight you might be the place for you I guess. I applaud the owners for the turnaround but I will not be coming back.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite bars to go to and just relax. Everyone is super friendly and depending on the night you go you can end up meeting a bunch of cool people. It's not a restaurant anymore so don't expect food, but everything else it offers more than makes up for it. The bartenders are super nice and honestly add to the whole vibe of the place. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a new dive bar to frequent.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the only legit , cool , laid back dive bars left in the city! Don't forget they have an upstairs and cheap beer !

Yelp
An amazing place to be to meet new people, to turn new cards, and to listen to new music of all kinds. The people that work here are amazing, and the atmosphere is amazing as well. There is a pool table upstairs. There is always a DJ playing or karate going on upstairs as well. I've been coming here since 2007. Always been my spot to go.

Yelp
THE archetypal dive bar experience. I'd heard about this place a lot but only recently stopped in here. Right next to Blue Moon, which I have been to often, but somehow missed this place. Cash only bar? Check. Drunk, chain-smoking bartender? Check. Dim lighting that gives off an air of mystery? Check. Incredibly random selection of content on bar TV? Check. Wafts of smoke that you are always downwind of no matter how many times you change seats? Check. Jukebox and gamblin' machines both lurking in wait to eat your money? Check. Decades-old interior design that could be in a movie set? Check. The patrons are more "hipster" than the typical working-class dive bar crowd, but this helps maintain a more friendly environment. So probably for the best if you want all the perks of a dive bar vibe but without the drawback of being stared down by angry local laborers and weathered retirees. Note: the 3 stars is more of a judgment call than anything. Liked this place when I went, but it's somewhere you have to be specifically in the mood for to appreciate. If you want somewhere cleaner and with more frills, there are at least ten other places in Larryville for you to hop over to.

Yelp
This is a smoky dive bar that morphs into a mini rave on the second floor on Friday and Saturday nights (at least pre-pandemic). In my early twenties I hit up Remedy on the weekends for some not so sober dancing. The DJ mixes were always on point, much more dynamic than a poppy Miami electronic festival or whatever. The one drawback is that you'll smell like smoke after patronizing this establishment, which could be a plus, depending on your company. Hopefully Remedy returns to its full former glory.

Lexie C.

Yelp
I do NOT recommend this bar. The typical crowd are over-served, violent, and create a nuisance for other bar goers and residents in the area. There are groups outside screaming and/or fighting and/or damaging public and private property at all hours of the night. It is clear that the new owner does not care about the local residents and I will NOT be returning here, which is a shame because it used to be a favorite local bar of mine.
google avatar

Yelp
Total dive. Cheap drinks, no bs. HOWEVER, it has what few other bars have - a monthly art opening. Yes, you can pound cheap drinks and be cultured while your glassy eyes gaze at art. Hey, perhaps you've have enough drinks to buy some from the local artists as well. Yes, thats right - cheap booze and different art every month. Sign me up. One major con, and this keeps me from making it 5 stars - smoke. It gets rather gnarly in there with all the smoke. Asthma kept me from staying too long, but I will be back for sure. Yes the bathrooms are gross... its a dive bar. Deal with it fancypants.

Yelp
Visiting from Los Angeles and stopped in for a drink, ended up staying the entire night because our bartender Melanie was so welcoming we canceled the rest of our plans. She was so friendly we did not want to leave, will definitely stop here every time I'm in town and I hope Melanie is there!

Patrick S.

Yelp
Melanie is the shit!! Best bartender! This place is great because of her!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Love this place. As someone who was born and raised in Lawrenceville, I have to say Remedy gives you the best mix of both worlds - old neighborhood regulars and new hipster transplants. The mix can sometimes be unusual, but at Remedy it works. On Tuesday nights you can be waited on by Megan - who is a really cool, energetic and an attentive bartender. The menu is pretty decent for bar food - the pierogis are tasty and I also like the regular old hamburger. The loaded fries are pretty good too, and the prices are fair. Definitely not overpriced like some of the newer places. The only thing I'm not wild about is the smoking. The smoke can get pretty heavy in there sometimes. But in the summer there is a little patio area in the rear that most people miss. Definitely a spot to check out if you're in the area!

Yelp
Although I don't frequent this watering hole as often as i used to in my younger and more degenerate years, I still love coming here...anytime. On a Wednesday afternoon, on a [third? second to last?] Saturday night during DANCECRUSH, or more often than not, waking up at 6AM with a gasp in the bathtub of the always locked-&-secret VIP-only 3rd floor residential-styled bathroom -- thinking to yourself "why don't they serve breakfast here?-- before collecting yourself for the long walk up Butler to The Thunderbird, an establishment that once almost was a contender for Remedy's Shittiest Pool Table category. Not sure if the different crowd encroached upon this local haunt, but i'll always view this (one of the last) smoker-friendly bar through rose-and-nostalgia-tinted dollar store wayfarer knockoff glasses because it reminds me of my youth, of innocence, and of course the loss of the latter -- once in that old abandoned salon chair upstairs, but mostly on that shitty pool table -- as well as the former, as youth is depleted like so much finite whiskey from a Bankers Club bottle.

Yelp
This is a true dive bar vibe... Come as you are and be what you want to be, judging prohibited. Smoking permitted, however. Also, be cool, no one here wants to deal with an attitude or bullshit. Cheapest crafts in Lawrenceville - $5 for a pint of West Coast IPA. They still have the basics, as well. My man loves the really big cans of Miller, PBR, and other domestics. I'm not sure how we are compatible. I've eaten my way pretty much through the entire menu and don't have any complaints. Wings are breaded and super good, hummus is tasty (not my fave in the city, but good), and the zucchini planks are awesome. Other Faves: Turkey Chili (The only good thing about winter arriving) Homemade tortilla chips Salsa The chicken sandwich with green apple on it Black bean burger Beef burger burger Plan on intellectual conversation about the state of the world and if you're into sports, there's a lot of that talk going on as well. Jukebox is great and can be a little schizophrenic depending on the mix of patrons. Dancing/DJs upstairs on weekends is always a good time. Thanks for being awesome, Remedy. Don't change a thing.

Yelp
I have been here twice and had a great time. Both times were for a birthday. Our group immediately went upstairs both times to dance so I can't say too much for the downstairs bar. However, upstairs is a blast. Each time the DJ was playing good music and the dance floor was packed. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. The only downfall is it is a smoking bar so if you aren't a smoker, you immediately want to shower after you leave. We were there last night for my own birthday. A dishwasher who worked at Remedy found out from my friend it was my birthday and he took us upstairs and got my group in for free; it's usually $5 to go upstairs with a DJ. I would recommend this place for people who want to go out and dance. It's not really a sit and chill type of bar.

Yelp
This is literally the worst bar experience I have ever had. I was there for one hour. ONE HOUR. In that time, 9 dudes proceeded to think that is was OK to blatantly grab my butt and/or boobs as they walked past me. NINE. 7 different dudes decided to whisper disgusting shit into my ear as they walked past me. SEVEN. All in one hour. Making a big deal of this to staff was basically like talking to a f*cking wall. SEXUAL HARRASSMENT IS SERIOUS, YOU RUN A F*CKING BUSINESS, DO NOT IGNORE THAT SH*T. I have never before been in a situation where so many strange men have felt comfortable touching my body so often and so quickly. This is NOT OK.... So, ya know, if you like sexual harassment and want to be either victimized or be a financial supporter, by all means, go to Remedy. Side note: way over priced drinks, extremely slow and rude service.

Leland P.

Yelp
Tony, the owner, is an ambassador of Pittsburgh. As someone who is considering relocating the 'Burgh, he was more than helpful and forthcoming with any real estate questions I was throwing at him. His wife and family were equally just as pleasant and nice. I can't recommend this place strongly enough. A true dive bar experience was had and I won't forget it.
google avatar

Meg P.

Yelp
This bar is one of my favorites. Christen is one of the most helpful and nicest bartenders I have ever encountered. Each and every time I have been to Remedy, she is attentive and knowledgeable about the selection. And really, every bartender is wonderful. The people in the bar are always so nice too. I've gone to Remedy to watch more sports games than I have seen in my own living room. It feels like you're watching the game with friends because everyone is so conversational about our Pittsburgh teams and life. It's a great atmosphere. I recommend Remedy if you like great beer at a great price, great food at a great quality, and great people at a great place. The only thing that might deter people is that you can smoke in the bar. I like that, but I know it's not for everyone. Overall, I always feel great with my choice to go to Remedy. It's my favorite bar.
google avatar

Karla D.

Yelp
Typical dive with cheap drinks and dancing on the second floor. The workers are either really friendly or really jerky. They still manage to get big crowds with all of the other choices nearby.

Yelp
What a mixed bag. On the outskirts of Lawrenceville hipsterzone sits this little bar. It actually reminded me of a house party in college, considering it's a converted house. You get all kinds of different people in there too. Hipsters, regulars, low key, party night people... it's all there! First level is the chill zone. People from all walks of life intermingle together with a drink in hand. I was actually surprised to see a decent draft list. After grabbing my Oberon I headed out into the small patio area. Nothing special, just a couple plastic chairs and tables. Remember, this is a house party after all! If you head upstairs you'll enter the dance portion of the party. A DJ spins mashed up old school hits with some techno beats. I'm not really into dancing to this kind of music, but I can respect a good mix. Props to the DJ have to be given. There's a pretty small bar upstairs and two larger rooms to dance. But, being an old house... packed to the gills with dancing people on a hot summer night it is not the coolest place. Actually it's down right gross... unless you're dancing so much you don't care it's hard to spend a lot of time up there. I passed a foursome getting an order of food and it looked and smelled amazing! It was around 10pm at night and the food looked gourmet. I have to say I'm a little intrigued. If you're putting out good looking food like that late night, I may have to venture down during the earlier hours for a bite.

Yelp
Let me preface this by saying this place is going downhill. It's gotten pretty seedy lately with lots of unsavory characters and trolls sitting at the bar. Like drug scene and shady, but if you are into that, have at it. I ain't judgin' you, just not my thing. The DJ's here are usually pretty good, so that's good if you want to dance, yet the dance floor is quite tiny. It's somewhat difficult to get served here unless it's the guy bartender with glasses and a baseball cap. He's very attentive, the rest are either snobby or indifferent to your existence and mine clearly. I'll tell you a story, last month I stopped in (even though someone that used to work there said it's no good and scary now) for a drink, and well, I did not get a drink. I wanted a drink, I was thirsty, but the bartender was too busy chatting, then getting on her smartphone to wait on me. Some guy came from behind the bar and I asked him if he'd wait on me and he said, "ummm...I'd help you, but she doesnt want me messing with her drawer." So, that's it. no more remedy for me.
google avatar

Allison E.

Yelp
UGH. Remedy. Smoking? Realllllly? But ... I see you serve duck! And ... apple cinnamon hummus!? And your beer list ... great short list of micros at really, really good prices. Unfortunately, I won't go back until they sell enough food that they legally have to ban smoking. Even the bartenders were smoking while they were pouring beers. There's no ventilation in the front room at all, which makes it exponentially worse - but for those of you who don't mind the smoke, this is a pretty cool hideout.
google avatar

Carrie T.

Yelp
Great neighborhood bar, good foods, the wings and burgers rule. They've got a nice booze selection, friendly patrons, and sweet and salty bar tenders with a "be nice or leave" attitude. Shoot pool upstairs and play the original juke, then get sweaty at the dance parties Fri and Sat. Definitely, one of the coolest places to hang in Lville.
google avatar

Iliana C.

Yelp
This is my kind of bar. Very unpretentious. Perfect level of divey. The people and bartenders are friendly. Remedy is a typical bar when you first enter. Once you walk past that you enter the "dining area" which essentially consists of a small room for you and your friends to sit down and eat. Tip: Order your food at the bar as you walk in because there are no waiters. They'll bring your food to your table once the food is ready. Seating is first come, first serve. I had a big party and had no problem finding a few tables and pushing them together. From the back room you can walk up the stairs to the second floor which consists of a dance floor and second bar! NICE! I am thinking the music is always changing but the night we went it was dub step night. We all enjoyed it (even those that weren't into that kind of music). If you want to take a break from the dancing there's ANOTHER ROOM (I know! I love how Pittsburgh bars always have secret rooms). This room has seating and pool tables. Very chill and a nice place to take a break from the music/dancing. Okay okay.... I almost forgot to mention the actual food! Delicious! Well... if you're a vegan you definitely need to come here for the burger. My girlfriend said it was hands down the best burger she's had in Pittsburgh. She still talks about it. The non-vegans we were with said the food was good. If I lived in Lawrenceville this would probably be my go-to bar.
google avatar

Erin N.

Yelp
Whenever we're at another establishment in Lawrenceville, someone has enough drinks to think coming here is a good idea. Remedy has cheap drinks, less than enthused employees, and smoking allowed, so it seems like your average dive. But when you add that it is typically PACKED and somehow quiet downstairs with too much upstairs, it's just gross. I'm all for cheap drinks, but it's just not worth it. I'm not expecting five star mixology for my well whiskey ginger but maybe a little effort. The draft list kind of saves it. That gives this a "meh". Upstairs typically has dancing in the tiniest room with an even tinier limited bar. It's a bajillion degrees and just ..weird. There's also a pool table up here somehow even though there's definitely not enough space for it. The whole thing just makes me uncomfortable. I know lots of friends absolutely love the place, but it's dingy and boring. Also I don't understand why everyone is using the term "hipster" with Remedy.. Previously, that was very Lawrenceville. It fit and other than Belvedere's, you didn't have many options. Now that the area is booming, there are plenty of other spots to get a decent drink in the atmosphere you want.
google avatar

Leslie A.

Yelp
I stumbled in here without any expectations, as the Blue Moon was too crowded to enjoy. On a whim I ordered some pierogies. They may be the best pierogies I've had at a restaurant, and the carmelized onions, to my surprise, were actually carmelized and not just sauteed. I didn't stay long, so I can't attest to the crowd, or the music, or the scene at the bar, but best pierogies I've ever had from a restaurant deserves five stars in my book.
google avatar

ReviewHaiku F.

Yelp
My first Pittsburgh bar! Love the levels and prices. Karaoke MESS
google avatar

Joseph S.

Yelp
To me Remedy is the "Cheers" of Pittsburgh. A lot of bars go for the dive aesthetic, but offer little more. I personally love the outdated, smoke stained decor. Sure you could go to a pristine establishment that serves alcohol, but you're settling for a gentrified version of what a bar used to be. Remedy is a bar that has character, free of pretension. The regulars and bartenders are a lively, colorful bunch, most of whom have lived in Lawrenceville for quite some time. It feels like a neighborhood bar, not just a mecca for hipsters and college students. I often hear criticism directed toward the bartenders for their inability or aversion to make complicated cocktails. I suppose this has merit, but I don't stroll in expecting $15 "artisanal" drinks, and neither should you. The draft selection is constantly rotating and the well booze is decent and cheap, what else do you need for a night of drinking?
google avatar

T.C. J.

Yelp
Remedy is a cool little place in Lawrenceville if you are looking for a dance party. This place is carved out of an old house and has a creepy haunted vibe to it, but in a cool way. The first level is the bar and a back room which seems to be a hipster seating area. The second floor is where the fun is; a small dance floor and a tiny bar so you don't have to keep going downstairs. The DJ's they bring in are hit or miss, but at least Remedy tries to bring in people who spin more than top 40 hits. The third floor has a couple more rooms and from time to time a live band plays up there. Usually something totally different and what some people might call "weird" but if you are looking to expand your musical horizons head up to the third floor and see if anyone is playing. Prices are fair, and though the crowd is a bit hipsterish for me, everyone is always really nice.

Bryan C.

Yelp
This kind of place is difficult to find anymore. Hip (but not trendy) while maintaining a genuine dive atmosphere. Depending on when you go, you'll meet people from every walk of life. Blue collar neighborhood regulars, college kids, art-damaged hipsters, all open and friendly and ready to have fun. Cheap, stiff drinks, great bottle selection, and good food when the kitchen is randomly open. The staff remembers your fussy drink order and carry no pretense. I only wish I could give it one star to keep it on the DL!
google avatar

Kate L.

Yelp
Food is delicious, outdoor patio, the best DJ dance parties, large beer selection (bottle and draft) and the owners are an awesome, local couple. If you are not a beer drinker like myself, the bartenders are super helpful in helping you choose the beer for you. One of the things i miss the most about Pittsburgh! I hope to visit soon.
google avatar

Erica S.

Yelp
This was a pleasant surprise. We went out for a night a drinks and the bar we were going to go to was packed so we walked a few doors down and stumbled across Remedy. It was crowded when we walked in but the atmosphere was comfortable and inviting. It was a nice mix of age and backgrounds. The music playing was hip hop but not all main stream which I like. There was a dance floor upstairs and a traditional bar setting on the bottom. The bar tenders were friendly and stayed on top of the customers drink requests. This will be a bar we add to our list of neighborhood bar spots.
google avatar

Laura D.

Yelp
At first glance, Remedy seems like a dive bar. And the first floor is pretty divey; lowkey crowds, decent prices on drinks, jukebox. But move toward the back for restaurant seating and check out their menu. They have great options for vegetarians (definitely try the vegan sloppy joe!) and reasonable prices. Wander upstairs and you'll find some lowkey performance/party spaces. I reserved the second floor for a poetry reading event and it was fantastic. The staff is great to work with and they were just really accommodating. We even had our own bar and bar tender. I do wish they had more seating available, since a lot of people showed up and there was no place to sit, but other than that I definitely suggest trying Remedy.

Yelp
I just discovered Remedy when I moved to Lawrenceville recently. I'm thrilled to report that they have the best burger I've had in this city. Period. That's not to say that other places have bad burgers, but the one I had here was excellent. One of my primary complaints is that when I order my burger to be cooked as Medium I rarely get it that way. I get well-done (no pink) or medium-rare (too much pink) or worse, rare (WAY too much pink). The burger I had at Remedy was exactly medium. A touch of pink in the center and yet still a nice, juicy burger. Not to mention that it had bacon, egg and cheese on it. Oh, it was fat-gram heaven, I'll tell you. And you should go there and have it right NOW. I also recommend the Buffalo Wing cheese dip. In particular it appears that they make the chips in-house. But even if they fooled me on that note, the chips were fresh and the dip was awesome. Be forewarned though, Remedy is a smoking bar which seems like a bit of a throwback these days. I'm not a smoker, but I can also choose to ignore smoke. However it has become a bit shocking to walk into an establishment that serves food and still allows smoking. Some people may not like that so please take note. I still suggest overlooking it and checking things out at Remedy. And finally - they serve Bell's Two-Hearted Ale (in bottles) so by my book they are nearing perfection.
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
This place looks cool, has friendly staff, but it is a bit too smokey for me. I never smoked, but now that lots of bars have been smoke free for years, I don't like going to bars where smoking is allowed. The place wasn't packed tonight, and my clothes still smell like smoke when I got home
google avatar

Brandon F.

Yelp
Remedy is hands-down one of my favorite places when going out in Pittsburgh. While not every night has been perfect, I have had enough awesome times to keep coming back over and over. Saturday nights are great for dancing. We always check their website to see who the DJ is, as they have a rotating schedule. Nestless Eggs is one of our favorite nights there. It's a departure from the annoying Top 40 stuff you hear in other bars. Any place that plays Robyn immediately wins me over! Drinks are reasonably priced, and the regular bartender on the second floor is awesome and friendly. The bar itself is essentially an old house, and the upstairs is still divided into rooms with old woodwork and fireplace mantles. Definitely an interesting feel to this place, almost like a house party. If at some point I leave Pittsburgh, this would surely be one of the places I would miss most!
google avatar

Kelsi K.

Yelp
They just changed the menu and it is SO good. Lots of BBQ stuff. This is my neighborhood bar, and I love coming here. I love smokey bars. I always get awesome service and during the week there's plenty of room. Weekends get a little hectic but that's everywhere in the city. Good people work here. They make good drinks and they don't put up with crap. A favorite.
google avatar

Shawn K.

Yelp
Remedy is a great little bar. I like coming after work for happy hour and then heading home. Relaxed atmosphere and service is good. There is usually an eclectic group of patrons around.
google avatar

Shari G.

Yelp
Hands down, THE BEST burger I have ever had. Cooked to perfection and a huge, two-hander. I haven't tried anything else here (I am, sadly, a creature of habit) but we took friends over for dinner one night and they tried several other things on the menu and were mightily pleased. (I think one person had wings, someone else had a sandwich... *shrug* Didn't seem to find any fails.) We did have a 12 year old, the son of one of our friends, with us and they were ok-sort of- with him coming in with us. I don't blame the establishment for this; rules are rules but just know, this is really not a 'dinner with the family' kind of place. Not really my thing as far as bars go; not into the "I'm just a little cooler than you are" hipster crowd, but they seem to get a steady stream of traffic, so they're doing something right. Did I mention the burger? Seriously.
google avatar

Colleen R.

Yelp
Remedy is pretty cool- they have dancing on the weekends which is awesome, but it gets very hot upstairs. Their food is about a 3/5. Next time I will ask for no rosemary in my food. They also have beer available for carry out! Great vibe all around.
google avatar

Cleveland M.

Yelp
turns out they have upstairs dance parties a lot. I recommend them. Sat in the back at some tables, crazy mural on the ceiling. lively crowd. Got some awesome buffalo wings, whiskey and ginger, and real killer burgers. super nice waitress/bartender. drink was weak, but after bringing it to their attention they fixed it and then some. bar in the front is good, pool and darts upstairs. i like this place a lot.
google avatar

Brittany D.

Yelp
We had a bit of a hard time finding the actual restaurant as it was our first in pittsburgh but we did and I'm so glad, after a night of too many whiskey and cokes and beers we needed some good food, we ordered the last order of the seitan wings with buffalo sauce and fries. Best decision ever and one order fed us both to fullness. I would recommend this place to anyone and the Bloody Mary was a kick in the butt that I needed.
google avatar

Jacob B.

Yelp
Remedy falls firmly into the hipstery-dive bar category; it's a great casual place, great art on the walls and ceiling, and solid food, with a good rotating specials menu. The patio is 3 or so tables, but it's great in the summer and i've never felt that it was crowded. Occasional dance parties happen on the 3rd floor, and are always great for the 20-something hip crowd. It's cool.
google avatar

Alan L.

Yelp
was like a discovery zone for hipsters. the rooms just kept coming and coming - upstairs, downstairs, inside, outside wow. bad bathroom ratio for the number of people in the place, but good selection of beer for a dive bar.
google avatar

Mia G.

Yelp
Great place, affordable drinks with a wide variety of beer choices, and amazing staff! Christen is the nicest bar tender I have ever had the pleasure of meeting! This place may have the best seitan wings in Pittsburgh! I have a great time here!
google avatar

Devin S.

Yelp
Remedy, what can I say about you? You're my home away from home. The best bartenders are employed here. The drinks are cheap and strong. The food is outstanding. I remember back when this was Rays. And it was notorious for some... sleazy activity. Not anymore, this bar has cleaned up it's act under the best new ownership, Tony. Tony was one of my favorite bartenders at Gooski's back in the day. The rest of the bartenders are just as fabulous. 1st Floor: Dive bar feel with slight class. Front room, where the bar is, stools and 2 seater tables, back room near the kitchen is non-smoking while the kitchen is open. Back deck, awesome. Small and awkward but a good place to settle in and talk to some friends. 2nd Floor: Bar in the back, singe bathroom men/women. Usually dance party going on up there. Not a LOT of room but it's pretty open and fun to dance in. There is a back room with a pool table and a lot of chairs, but beware if you sit back there, you may get hit with a pool cue! 3rd Floor: Seperated into 3 different rooms, no bar upstairs, single men/women full bathroom (it's got a tub/shower and everything), there is usually artwork hanging in the 3rd floor for sale. This floor is rarely open on most nights, and is easily reserved for your special get together! There's a small DJ booth in the back corner, and a small dancefloor surrounding it. I love this place, I truly do, and whenever I have visitors from out of town, this is ALWAYS the first place I take them, and they always fall in love!!

Yelp
I stopped by here when my boyfriend's friend was Djing upstairs. The downstairs was about the best. Dive bar, close quarters - I would've felt more at home. I went up the first staircase and ended up in a crowd of people watching belly dancers. Yippee. Up the next staircase we went - and it was just someone's house converted into a Goth-house-party. There was a plain old 1 person bathroom... a living room with artwork for sale, another living room with chairs and couches and a final room where 2 people can flail around to the dj who is shoved in a corner. It has a great idea, but I think it'll be better once a no-smoking law goes in effect and it loses it's "house party" feel. I also thought it was bogus that I had to fight through the crowd to go down 2 flights of stairs just to get another tiny drink.

Yelp
I can't express how angry I am at this bar. I own a small business and do not give negative reviews On yelp unless I have had absolutely horrible service

Yelp
Remedy is a great small little bar in Laweranceville. At first, it is seemingly a dive bar but at closer inspection is so very much more. The food menu is unique and constantly being updated with new favorites. The upstairs is a dance club on some nights and seems to host some private parties some other nights. This place is diverse in beers, people, and atmosphere. There is something here for everyone to enjoy. I highly recommend visiting this bar at least once to see if it fits your fancy. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Can Smoke Here!!! Yaaaay!!! Do not order the stuffed shrooms!!! Blech!!! Note to Remedy: Please either grind the dried dill so ur not choking on the sticks (think dried rosemary), or use fresh dill?? It is the sweet spot of summer right now!!! I never EVER send food back, but I did today! Drinks were good, as always. Bartender was nice but not very personable. Was here at 5 on a Sunday...

Yelp
This place ought to be re-named 'The Unfriendly Hipster', since that's most of their patrons to a t. Smoke everywhere, absolutely jam packed with barely any room to stand on busy nights let alone find a seat. If you're into grungy, packed, unfriendly bars that come off as a drug scene (don't sniff the pool tables), go for it. Not my thing.
