Just a 5 minute walk (if you go via Joseph Patisserie and not via Google Maps) from the Gare Routiere bus station (35 minutes direct to/from Marseille airport) brings you to the Renaissance, which is itself less than ten minutes walk from the outer edge of central Aix. Or, put another way, this hotel is in a great location.||The decor was not quite my thing (my wife loved it), but the hotel was bright, spacious, clean, modern and immaculately maintained throughout. ALL staff we encountered (incl. Housekeeping) were so friendly and cheerful, it really did make it an even greater pleasure to stay here. A special mention to the lovely Catherine who gave us a very generous welcome on our check-in.||The pool is opened on request, even if only one person asks. Nice pool, extensive garden and always staffed even if there is only one guest wanting to use it.||We do not drive overseas and are a little anxious about using public transport, but the buses (coaches mostly) are clean, reliable and really easy to navigate which enabled us to get about quite easily. We made a day trip to Marseille where we enjoyed an outstanding walking tour (details on request) which was another place we had long wanted to visit but never previously managed.||If I had to find something to criticise - and I'd be scraping the barrel to do it - it would be that there are too many leaflets left around encouraging you to be aware of and use the various facilities and dining choices, such that at times I felt I had to keep tidying up from all the bits of paper left around (my OCD issue unfortunately). I'm sure there's a smarter and more economical way of achieving this.
