We stayed at the Renaissance as part of a longer summer-holiday first spending a week in Paris and then taking the 3-hour train ride to Aix, where we stayed at the Renaissance for another 8 days. ||We stayed in a spacious family room being two adults and two kids age 7 and 10, and had chosen this location to also celebrate two family members' birthdays, 40th and 10th birthday.||The hotel offered a nice Southern French atmosphere, pool table in lobby area and a bar, as well as the hotel's restaurant (which we tried) and a Michelin 1-Star restaurant (which we did not try). The hotel has a good location just a short walk outside the "old" part of the town. ||The hotel has a great outside pool as well as a adults-only indoor spa. We tried a massage in the spa, which was really nice. We spent every day time at the outside pool, which was great. It varied a bit in terms of amount of people, but we always found space for the four of us and took advantage of the outside bar-area as well. You have to try the french fries - they were amazing. ||The REAL JEWEL of the Renaissance is the staff. We had a lot of conversations and help from the Guest Relations team to ensure we had lots of celebrations for the two significant birthdays and the team really delivered some memorable moments and were so sweet and helpful about everything. We ordered special-made chocolate cake from the hotel's pastry-chef, and the cake was one of the best cakes we've ever tasted! In addition the breakfast staff were also super nice and in particular one man who worked there was super helpful and even noticed when our daughter celebrated her birthday, he brought her a special surprise-plate with food and a sparklers (our daughter was SO surprised).||We will for sure bring home lasting memories from our stay at the Renaissance.

We had a delightful stay with our kiddo. Very helpful and friendly staff. Super accessible to the downtown pedestrian area. Nice pool and gym! Tricky vehicle entrance but otherwise fantastic.

What I appreciate about this hotel:||- Excellent location. Close to the bus station, the train station, Europcar, and the old town|- More-than-reasonable Bonvoy point redemption|- Even though I used points and a free night, I was upgraded to a room with a balcony on the top floor (Lifetime Titanium). Breakfast buffet was complimentary|- View of Montagne Sainte-Victoire from my bed (if staying on a high floor, request a room facing the street)|- Friendly, helpful staff. The woman at the front desk sent a heater to my room. (I'm always cold). The restaurant manager is very outgoing, and he appears quite dedicated|- Pleasant outside areas|- Comfortable bed. Hot shower. Quiet refrigerator. Dark room at night. Conditioner and lotion provided

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in aix. The hotel is perfectly located to the center of town just a few minutes walk from the fountain. We’ve stayed at several hotels in the Marriot universe and this is near the top of the list. The staff was great. Melvin at the concierge desk set up all of our tours and handled all the other requests. The breakfast brunch was the best we’ve had in the Marriott Chain of hotels. The manager and staff had a real pride in ensuring everyone was cared for during the meal. Yes the pool is a little small but it was a perfect end to hot 100 degree days of touring. The late pools hours were a real plus.

We had a great stay at this hotel! The service was excellent, and the pool was a highlight perfect for relaxing after exploring the city. The location is convenient, just a short walk to the town center, and valet parking made things very easy. The gym is quite basic, and the restaurants were not open for seating during our stay only for breakfast and dinner, although food was available at all times. Overall, a very comfortable hotel with friendly service very recommended!!

Hotel is well situated, just a short walk into Aix center. Parking is 25 euro per night and is secure. Our dog stayed too for a fee of 35 per night. For this, we got a doggie bed as well as a food and drink bowl, which was good. Room was large enough, bathroom was decent size and the bed was nice. Also free filtered water on every floor, which was great. Service was pretty good in general. Has a gym which was adequately equipped. However, definitely some issues -|- grout in the shower was missing or mouldy, also very little water pressure|- cleaning in general was not thorough, I don’t think our room was vacuumed the whole time we were there |- drinks at the bar were criminally priced|- hammam did not work on any of the 4 days we were there. We were given free parking as a result (only because my wife complained) but this was a big issue, looked like it had been out of order for a long time|- the view from our room (over 300 euros a night) was to apartments where people could clearly see in. We kept our curtains closed most of the time|- you get a card to exchange at the outdoor pool for a towel. It clearly states that if you lose the card, they will charge you 30 euros!||Overall ok stay, it doesn’t help that we had just come from another 5 star hotel, similarly priced, that was exceptional. For what you pay to stay at the Renaissance, you certainly expect more. Felt like they were trying to nickle and dime you.||Did not try the restaurant or pool area, but pool are actually looked quite nice.|-

I walked two steps into the hallway with the fake cobblestone carpet and I knew I had been duped. 5 stars?? Not a chance. Went into the room, there was old take away rice stuck to the bench, balcony had chicken wire all around. Thankfully I had booked directly and they refunded me and I went to stay at an actual 5 star property. That was not before the manager yelled at me to tell me what wasn’t “5 star” about the property.

The hotel is in a great location you'll find excellent restaurants and shops nearby. There's also a big open market several days every week in the summer on the main drag in town. The hotel staff are great and there's a very nice pool that was renovated a few years ago. Prices for drinks and food at the hotel are ridiculously high so I recommend walking just a few minutes away. I do recommend the hotel, however.
