I stayed 8 nights in this hotel in a partial ocean view king room. This property feels more like a business or airport hotel vs. a luxury hotel in a tropical destination. Check-in was smooth and efficient. My Bonvoy Gold Elite Status was acknowledged, but an enhanced room upgrade was not given. ||Pros:|The mattress and bedding were comfortable and high-quality. The air conditioning kept the room consistently cool. The hotel is new, so the overall build quality and fixtures are modern. Hotel is located a few steps from the Ala Moana mall, which is great for shopping & dining. It is a short walk to the Ala Moana Beach Park & Magic Island. ||Cons: |The shower water pressure was dismal, and there was no hot water during 3 of the 8 nights that I was there. The pool was closed for 2 days. Hotel staff use the regular guest elevators (I guess they don't have service elevators?). Housekeeping carts are kept in the hallways 24/7 (no storage space?). None of the staff were particularly friendly and some didn't acknowledge your presence (i.e. valet and bell staff will stand there while you fumble with the doors). ||Overall: |If you are Kamaʻāina (Hawaii resident) and looking for a more upscale but no-frills hotel to stay that is outside of Waikiki, you would probably enjoy this hotel. If you're a couple or family seeking a tropical paradise getaway -- skip this one.

I stayed here with my girlfriend last August 2024 for 5 days. I neglected to leave a review sooner but I reminisce about this trip so often, I figured better late than never! This is my favorite Renaissance location. Everything about our stay was luxurious. Tim at the front desk was especially kind and helpful throughout our entire stay. Our room was spacious and clean with an amazing view. The rooftop pool and spa were immaculate. The fragrance of the hotel was clean and enticing. Every detail and the design of the room was modern, yet warm and inviting. Camille from the spa was very accommodating and helpful. We had amazing massages, I would say one of the best massages I’ve ever had. The spa amenities included a sauna and cold plunge, as well as an outdoor spa area. I can’t rave enough about how amazing this trip was. I can’t wait to come back!

My family of five stayed nine nights in a one-bedroom mountain-view suite in September 2025. The room was modern, spacious, and had great views, but service and billing problems made the stay stressful.||Housekeeping skipped our room for several days despite repeated requests for towels and cleaning. Only after I contacted Marriott corporate did daily service finally begin for the last part of our trip.||More troubling were repeated incorrect charges, including a $65 valet-parking fee even though we never used valet and nightly “food credit” charges that were supposed to be complimentary. My husband had to visit the front desk three nights in a row after 9 p.m. to get these charges removed.||The property itself is beautiful and conveniently located, but the constant billing mistakes and the need to escalate just to receive basic housekeeping overshadowed the positives. Check your folio and credit card statements carefully before you leave.

Beautiful hotel in a good location next to Ala Moana center. We preferred this location to Waikiki as it was a bit more quiet and relaxing. Still close enough to beaches on foot or use the local bus to Waikiki (very efficient way to get around.) Hotel room was comfortable overall, bed & pillows were excellent. Housekeeping daily with some differences in comprehensive cleaning, some days better than others, but no real issues here. Had to request some supplies that had been missed a couple of times. Front desk staff friendly and accommodated our early arrival with a room upgrade (we are elite bonvoy members.) One reason we booked the Renaissance was access to laundry machines, however only one of 2 machines were operational with several guests wanting access, so it took quite a while to get the laundry done. Mara restaurant was good for happy hour drinks with apps. 8th floor pool area very nice with plenty of seating and pool side bar. Nearby Walmart & Target is a benefit for supplies and last minute Hawaiian gifts/chocolate to take home (much better pricing than ABC or gift shops!) As other guests have mentioned, there is homeless that occupy some of the area including the front of walmart, but no issues at all. Would recommend a stay here.

From the moment we arrived at the Renaissance Hotel in Honolulu, the hospitality was outstanding. At the front desk, Chad greeted us warmly and, upon learning this was our return to the island but first stay at this property, surprised us with a delightful upgrade to a suite — a perfect start to our visit.||Justin, part of the management team, went above and beyond to secure us a Saturday night reservation at Arancino di Mare, a fantastic Italian restaurant we had been hoping to try. He also introduced us to Istanbul, a great bar with excellent Mediterranean cuisine — both of which became highlights of our trip.||At Sera restaurant, we enjoyed our breakfasts each morning where Alex, our server, provided attentive and friendly service. We also returned for dinner and were impressed — the rigatoni and beet salad were both excellent.||The hotel’s spa with plunge pool, along with the serene outdoor pools, provided an oasis of calm in the hubbub of Honolulu. This combination of exceptional service, great dining, and tranquil spaces makes the Renaissance a top choice for anyone visiting the city.||Highly recommended — we will definitely be back||

We were very worried about coming to hotel due to the rating dropping as months pass by after booking our stay… and seeing all the bad comments. It wasn’t the best stay but staff made up for our experience (for the most part). ||||Had to move rooms to because of a maintenance issue in my first room. ||||There is no service elevator which is very strange. Seeing the service staff riding the same elevator can be disturbing, some delivery people on tiktok and YouTube while in elevator, it’s obnoxious. ||||Adrian the front office manager corrected our issues swiftly, and give us apologies til the very end, I understand it’s not the front desk in fault for the housekeeping services, so the apologies don’t really make up for much if the root of the problem lies elsewhere. ||||8 day stay, I have to continuously request housekeeping, I even provided front desk with our specific time preference and they promised they give the notice to housekeeping, but still was not completed as I simply requested. I did not imagine I have to request to have our room vacuumed and double inspected for dust, I thought no one lived in the hotel room for days to the amount of dust… ||||One of my last day, I left gratuity for the housekeeper. I entered my room to grab an item I left behind and bumped into the housekeeper in room, she cleared trash and took the tip, she seemed to rush out when I ran into the room. I told her I was just grabbing something quickly and she could continue, and she respond “someone else will come”. The tip was meant for the person who provided service … not just remove trash?! I did not understand this, they have different service worker for each task as so? ||||In room dining, not convenient at all, phone tag every time I tried. ||||Morning manager at restaurant, it will be busy with long lines and he is functioning as so slow with no care in the world and line of guests watching. No apologies for any wait. ||||Jessa from front desk is very kind and sweet. She seemed overwhelmed when I stop by to give a small request, I appreciate her patience to talk to us. ||||Hotel seems severely understaffed, I would assume there is separate staff for phones but seems like no, if you’re at the desk during busy times, you will hear the phones all ringing like no one picking up because all front desk personnel is occupied. How does the hotel management expect this hotel to function properly like this? ||||As much as Adrian provide excellent service and extend his apologies, and acknowledged our needs, I cannot say I would return anytime soon. New hotel needs to work on things still, and it will take time. ||||Location good if you don’t want to be in tourist area. Nice break from waikiki but I still like Ritz Carlton and Moana Surfrider. ||||Modern amenities. ||||Would have been great room but for being a brand new hotel, seems like upkeep staff is not preventing wear from rooms to best abilities. I would have thought the hotel is maybe few years old, surprised to hear it’s only open one year, seems like much much longer. ||||Speaking with Front desk, they belong at a hotel that can keep up with their level. They just deserve more compensation for all they put up with that the upper management cannot deal with properly.

I had a wonderful experience from the moment I walked in the door to check in. My first encounter was with Joe, who made the process seamless. He upgraded my room to an ocean view and told me about the hotel. For the 4 days that I stayed there, he called me by name and was always available to answer questions. The rooms were very quiet and the pool area was beautiful and very peaceful with a bar area where drinks and food were available. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wanted to be a little removed from the crowds of Wiakiki.

Renaissance Honolulu Hotel and Spa is by far the best hotel experience my family and I have ever had. Not only is it beautifully designed, it's also furnished with quality furnitures and appliances (I stayed on the Residence floor 2 weeks ago). The amenities are top notch. The staff were extremely helpful. I specifically want to commend Raul and Jeff who were both very helpful and tended to our request on our way to our room. They greeted us with a warm welcome and encouraged us to reach out to their team in case we needed anything.

Yelp
It was a pleasure to stay at the newest hotel right across the Ala Moana Shopping Mall. We were here for 9 days and had a great time. The staff was very accommodating. Even got our room was upgraded to a partial ocean view and loved it. Two King beds was more than sufficient. We didn't expect to have plumbing issues the 1st night. The shower got clogged up. We put in a call to the front desk. Happy to report the whole issue was taken care of in less than hour. And, no further trouble for the rest of our stay. Valet parking is free for guest. However, overnight parking is pretty hefty $55. There is street parking free after 6pm but you'll have to get up early to move the care to avoid having to pay. If you plan on renting a car, I was told some people rent them as early as possible and then return them by 8pm before the the rental office closes to avoid fees. If you don't like the sand, there is a pool and jacuzzi on the 8th floor complete with several saunas. Lounge chairs are around with a a few grills if you want to bbq. We also took advantage of the washer and dryer to have clean clothes for the next leg of our trip, the Big Island. Walmart is next door. Target is right across the street. The MARA restaurant I heard is great especially since there's not many Mediterranean restaurants. There are many great places to eat nearby. Foodland Market is across the street if you want to get a Poke bowl. Several options for breakfast too. Yelp it. Ala Moana beach is very close by too. The contemporary setting had a very clean aesthetic. Hardwood floors and large bathroom were nice. Standard coffee was made available. Appreciated that. Would definitely like to stay here again on our next trip.

Yelp
How often does the manager of the valet team go over and above the basic service? In my many years of traveling, I would say not often. It happened at the Renaissance Honolulu this past week. I was talking to Tommy Young, the manager of the valet team and complaining about the high cost of parking at the hotel, which is valet only. Without hesitation he shares with my wife and I that what some guests do is they rent a zip car from DriveHui.com, WHEN they need it, which cuts down on the cost of a rental car and of course the parking fees. He even offered to show us the cars on the 2nd floor that we could rent. Wow, I sure didn't expect that kind of customer service. He was actually thinking on my behalf and my pocket book. We started chatting and we had a lot in common. By the end of our encounter, we felt like we were old friends. I thanked him for all the information and he said "hey, we are family now." I will not forget his kind gesture, even though I will probably still rent a car and use the valet service. Thank you Renaissance for assembling a team that makes us feel we are indeed his ohana. I will be back in May 2025. Mahalo Tommy Young.

Yelp
A round of applause for this hotel! I was debating back and forth on where to stay for my husband's 40th birthday with our kids since I usually stay in Waikiki area for convenience. For us, we had an exceptional week long experience here! I would 1000% come back and stay here again, and with other friends and family! Front desk and staff | Mindy, Adrian, and Ariel went above and beyond with their aloha spirit, which I truly appreciate. We stayed on the 38th floor, 1 bedroom, partial ocean view. Just beautiful. At night, it was extra dreamy with the city lights shining through the floor to ceiling windows. Room | I have a family of 5, so we can no longer squeeze on 2 queens, and we def need more space. The pull out sofa was not one of those nasty, creaky, and flimsy ones. It was a king size tempurpedic-like mattress that comfortably fit 3 full grown kids! A one bedroom is perfect. Room with hardwood flooring equipped with FULL kitchen, high end appliances like Sub Zero fridge, and Wolf range! Nespresso machine, microwave, dishwasher, slippers, robes. Let me tell you, if I knew what kind of game changer a washer/dryer was, we would have packed 50% less clothes! No need to buy tons of water, there's a water and ice dispenser right outside the room, and not in a separate scary room like most hotels! Just walk by and fill up! Elevator | Tap your room key, type in your floor level and it takes you straight up to your room! sooo convenient! Food | Amazing. I never expect much from hotel restaurants, but dang, MARA (Mediterranean food) was delicious! It was packed with people every night, like a NY restaurant! Lamill Coffee Shop served good coffee, not my type of taste, but hubs thought it was good. The best part was that they got weekly deliveries of Makua Banana Bread (North Shore), and it's soooo good! A huge shout out to Derrick, the manager for taking the time to chat with me about the restaurant and the hook up on the fluffy pita bread, sooooo yum! Dranks | Roberto and another gal (forgot her name, but I remember she had dimples!) was spectacular. They REALLY want you to enjoy their concoction, especially nice since I'm a light drinker. Pool/Spa/Gym | Complimentary Mini Hydrotherapy - yes please! Need a quick pump, they got you. Clean space and got all the equipment and weights you need. Saltwater pool with 2 jacuzzis, a fake turf area for play, bbq area to cook and lounge with friends, all for your outdoor enjoyment. Valet | $55/night. Yes, it's pricey. This is probably the least favorite part of my stay. You can text the number and they get your car ready. It can be hit or miss with this one though. Sometimes, it was ready to go when we got downstairs, but one time, we waited almost 15 minutes and were late to our dinner reservation 2 blocks away. But eh, no biggie. Honestly, you can't beat valet multiple times a day! Convenience | Walking distance to Ala Moana Mall, Target, Walmart. Close drive to Foodland and Don Quijote. If I could live in this hotel, I would. And guess what, you can! The other side is a residence where people actually live! I def prefer Marriott hotels bc of their attention to detail, and modern design. Renaissance is a newer hotel, and it exceeded all of my expectations. I hope to come back soon have another fabulous aloha spirit experience! Thank you Renaissance for your hospitality!

Yelp
My recent stay at the Renaissance Hotel exceeded expectations in both service and comfort. From the moment of arrival, you are enveloped in a luxurious, yet inviting, ambiance--imbued with a modern sensibility that is both sleek and impeccably clean. Some of the artistic designs are from Hawaii's own, Sig Zane. The hotel's contemporary design aesthetic is beautifully complemented by an atmosphere that feels simultaneously sophisticated and approachable, offering a perfect balance for both business and leisure travelers (as well as locals). The staff exhibited a high level of professionalism, effortlessly blending warmth and efficiency. Each interaction was underscored by a genuine attentiveness, enhancing the overall experience. A notable highlight of the Renaissance is the inclusion of Mara, one of my favored dining establishments, conveniently located within the hotel. Its Mediterranean-inspired menu showcases an impressive culinary finesse, presenting dishes that are not only flavorful but artfully prepared, making it a must-visit even for those not staying at the hotel.

Yelp
This was one of the newest Marriott hotel that we've stayed at this year. It was walking distance from Ala Moana shopping center and an easier drive versus from Waikiki to other parts of town. The negatives first since there wasn't much but enough to drop a star: Valet parking only at $55/night. On par with other hotels but still a ridiculous sum to park a car. Lounge was permanently shut down. No breakfast offer for Titanium members which was quite unusual. The positives: Upgraded room with partial view of water. Nespresso coffee. Huge gym with my favorite Concept2 rowers. There was even a punching bag. Lap pool (reservations needed). Multiple steam sauna rooms with hot and cold pools. Large patio and multiple pools that were quite empty throughout the day. Fast elevators. Friendly and responsive staff. Would likely come back and stay again.

Yelp
The Renaissance hotel just recently opened its doors on February 29th 2024. Conveniently located on Kapiolani Blvd, across the street from Ala Moana Mall, and being 10 minutes walking distance to Ala Moana Beach. The Renaissance Hotel is the perfect place for a staycation or suggesting family or friends to stay while vacationing in Hawai'i. The interior design has modern-day art with a cultural influence added to it. From the 16th floor and up, every even number floor has a water and ice machine. The building has the state of the art technology showcasing the motion sensor lighting, fitness equipment, and high-grade digital touch screen HVAC system. The amenities at the property will make staying here very relaxing and comfortable. Everything from restaurants, convenience stores, and shops are at walking distance that someone's stay will be stress free. A must stay Hotel!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel! Our room was spotless and the location couldn't be better. It's right across from the Ala Moana Center and within walking distance of Waikiki, without the super touristy feel. The gym is fantastic and the on-site laundry room really came in handy for our week-long stay. I would stay here again!

Yelp
I love this hotel, but it is pricey!!! We stayed here for a few days for my birthday month! It's a very nice treat and a memorable gift that will forever stay with me. You will meet a lot of nice people in Hawaii in general. It's such a calm place compared to a city and I love it!

Yelp
Brand new hotel with amazing pools. I prefer this location rather Waikiki which I find too busy so if you are looking for something more quiet but still accessible then this is the spot! Value 4/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Service 5/5 Quality 5/5 19/20
google avatar

Yelp
New Mediterranean cuisine great for guests and tasty flavors! Love the 5pm run taster area and the back too is great for families with kids. The kids were still hungry after their order. More for a date night not for kids atmosphere.

Yelp
Beautiful new hotel with amazing views of the city. The sleeping rooms and public areas, including the pool, spa, lobby, restaurants were all very clean and smelled very fresh. The customer service from the staff that I encountered, was top notch. Shout out to Jennifer in housekeeping who was so friendly and really takes pride in her job.

Yelp
This hotel is modern, stylish and minimal. Designed beautifully and guest services were amazing. Room service was amazing. We had a great experience and would definitely come back next time we are visiting.

Yelp
This Hotel is less than a year old. Great location because it's right across the the mall and access to the freeway is way easier compared to staying around Waikiki Services is great. I had a long day trip and Tran who check me was the nicest person I've met on this trip. The club lounge on the 15th floor has an amazing view of Ocean and city of Honolulu. Service at the club lounge also exceeded my expectation. Matias went out of his way to show me how to work the coffee drip machine. Equipment in the gym was up to par on the eighth floor, same floor where that pool area is located.

Yelp
Stayed in a residential part of the hotel. Full fridge, stove top, huge microwave, big sink, front load washer/dryer and a dishwasher. Also had a mini espresso machine and a electric kettle. Very comfortable beds and a pullout king bed. It was kinda irritating walking through the living room to get to the bathroom though but I was happy that they also have a bidet. Would have gave it a 5 star but the breakfast at the lounge lacked some items. They only served eggs with no meats. No oatmeal or waffles or pancakes. Later in the week we had to switch rooms and we stayed on the hotel side and they had a small fridge, espresso machine and electric kettle. No microwave. No ironing board. If you wanted a microwave you can rent one for $35 per day (huh?). The valet is expensive. But overall this is a nice hotel and the staff were nice as well.

Yelp
Check in was fast and easy, room was clean had all the little things u needed including a make up mirror. Only thing missing was a nice comfy, clean robe. Went to the spa and got a wonderful massage as well as the lobby restaurant Mara and had a very nice meal! Great way to spend a birthday!

Yelp
If you are a bonvoy member, your elite status means nothing here. It doesn't get you anything unfortunately. Not sure where all the good reviews came from. None of the employees have said a word to me, and I've been here for two weeks now. Only one guy, Joseph at the pool is the only person to actually interact with me. Shout out to him! The valet guys are pissed when they need to retrieve your car. They never have enough valet staff. Sometimes I've waited 20 minutes to get my car. I asked about the Club Lounge Level and was told you need to pay extra for that although usually that's included with your bonvoy status. The fire alarm went off and they had everyone walk down the stairs. I had to help an elderly man down 20 flights of stairs. Even though on each landing of the stairs on every level was an employee saying it was just a test. So why are you having us walk down stairs for a test? Also, the pool is absolutely insanely run over by kids. Tons of kids everywhere and parents not watching them. There are much better options than this place. I'd look somewhere else before booking this place. Note: you are forced to valet, and it cost $60/day. They are charging me over $1000 just to park. Crazy.

Yelp
Today our stay at the Renaissance hotel pool was unbelievable thanks to Joseph and Kekoa.... Both went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of... their personalities are exactly what all hotels should provide.... They took the time to get to know each guest and truly make us feel like family

Yelp
Just spent the day at the Renaissance amenity deck. Everything was flawless! From the crystal blue swimming pool, the Japanese soaking tub, and the great service by the pool staff...! Special shout out to Joseph, the pool boy. He was sooo attentive! The other guys were good, but he was bringing authentic, positive energy and anticipated all our needs! Thanks, Joseph! Mia, Kylie, Andrea, and Mochel

Yelp
Yikes! The valet guy (skinny Asian guy with a perm looking hair) he came up to our car and could clearly see that the driver wasn't in the car as he went up to deliver food. Instead of coming to the window where I was he opened the driver door and talked so Loud! And my baby was in the car sleeping. She ended up waking up. That's terrible service and a dumb way of doing things and thinking.
google avatar

Jamie S.

Yelp
Love love love this hotel, amenities and spa. Great views, super comfy and clean! The pool deck is fantastic either day and night. It's such a vibe, totally would live here full time if I could. It's nice to getaway to Honolulu and not be stuck in Waikiki. Location is great, love the food options near by! Definitely stay if you're considering it- it's been near sold out this summer!

Yelp
I was concerned about the distance from Waikiki, but it ended up being a nothing burger... at least for me. The have a shuttle that runs from Ala Moana Mall to Ala Moana Beach to Waikiki. The staff were great and attentive. A huge plus was the mall was literally across the street, and there were some great food options nearby. Kapiolani Seafood is a must if you enjoy authentic Chinese. The food court at Don Quijote was great for a quick bite at a great price. Lastly, IMO, Ala Moana Beach outshines Waikiki by a mile. There's plenty of grass with beautiful trees used for shade. The water is but a few steps away. It's doubly if you have little ones as the water is calm.

Kitty K.

Yelp
It's a new hotel and the reception was with aloha spirits so the gym and swimming pool are shared with the connected condos which is efficient however it could be a bit crowded . Didn't try the restaurant on ground floor but seems like a popular evening hang out for drinks & pupu's . Parking is expensive so Uber was helpful. The room has good size decent decor , wish US hotels supply slippers like most Asian countries.

Yelp
TIM TIM TIM!!!!!!! Tim is the man! Beautiful hotel with amazing customer service. I highly recommend staying at this hotel if you are visiting Hawaii. Can't thank Tim enough for how awesome he is. We will definitely return to this hotel when visiting again. 5 stars from me.

Queenie H.

Yelp
Very nice hotel. The employees are friendly & pleasant. The pool attendant Joseph is sociable & attentive to details in his job performances. The valet crew are the first people to encounter prior to entering the hotel & they are friendly as well. Lastly, I was greeted by Anna the front desk agent with a smile. Overall great experience, being that this is a brand new hotel. Awesome! Queenie

Yelp
This is a brand spanking new hotel in Honolulu! I didn't know this when I booked it for my solo trip, so when I got there, I found out that the hotel had only been opened for 1 week! I have never stayed in such a new hotel. Patrice, from the front desk, was absolutely amazing! She was kind, friendly, and extremely helpful. When I checked in, a room was already assigned to me. However, after checking out the room, I went back down to the front desk to see if I could get a room on a higher floor because I wanted a better view. Patrice was awesome! She said there was a room available on a higher floor, but she needed to make sure that it was ready for a guest. She personally went up to that room to inspect it, back down to the lobby to get new keys for me, and then back up to my room to deliver me the new keys and take me to my new room. I couldn't ask for a better start to my trip!! Thank you, Patrice! In terms of location, if you like the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, you might not enjoy the location as it is a bit of a walk to Waikiki... I think about 30-40 minutes or 10-15 minute drive. The hotel did offer a shuttle service to Waikiki, which started after I got there. I thought that was such a bonus because it can get quite costly to park there. However, I didn't use the shuttle service since I had a car. The location is great if you want to go to Ala Moana! It is literally across the street! I enjoyed staying a little away from Waikiki since I was looking for peace and quiet on this trip. The hotel itself is very nice. The rooms are spacious with a lot of light. I was very surprised (in a good way) by the finishings that the hotel used... Toto bidets and Subzero mini fridges! One can tell that the hotel took into consideration the guests' experience when building/furnishing the hotel. The staff throughout the hotel were really friendly and nice. I liked how welcomed they made me feel. If I needed anything, they were super helpful. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would come back to stay here when I'm back on the island again.

Yelp
I have stayed at this hotel multiple times for work. Started off great, overtime I have seen the Amenities space being taken over by people who are not at the hotel or part of the residences. The adults stay at the grill area while the kids run a muck, almost daycare like. The hotel has to know these people are not customers/tenants ...it almost seems like they are friends or family of the staff.
