What an incredible stay at the Renaissance Lucerne Hotel! From check-in to check-out, everything was flawless. The location couldn’t be better — just steps from the train station, the lake, and Lucerne’s charming old town. Our room was beautifully designed, spotless, and modern, with super comfortable beds and thoughtful touches throughout. The bedding, robes, and towels were pure luxury, and the quiet atmosphere made it easy to relax after a long day of exploring. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with recommendations or directions. The bar and restaurant had a chic, welcoming vibe — perfect for an evening cocktail or bite to eat. Lucerne is already a dream destination, but staying here made it even more special. Highly recommend the Renaissance Lucerne for its style, comfort, and genuine Swiss hospitality! 🇨🇭✨

Nice enough hotel. Room was adequate Lobby is tiny - no place to sit Connected restaurant very good. Good location to access public transportation easy walk to lake Lucerne and old town.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience staying here. Our room was spotless, linen was plenty and bath products high quality. The fitness center & guest lounge were all a very nice touch. All Hotel Concierge were attentive, kind and helpful. Housekeeping was a standout. Thank you for taking great care of us 🙏🏻

The entire hotel, including the upgraded king bed room we received, felt extremely small and cramped—especially considering the high price point. After exiting the elevator, we had to navigate a set of steps, which made things tricky with our luggage and stroller. The hallways were so narrow it was genuinely difficult to pass through comfortably. On the plus side, the location was excellent—just a short walk of a couple blocks from the train station. That said, we won’t be returning next time.

This hotel is incredibly overpriced. We spent over 433 sf for this room. We were “upgraded “ to a junior suite. That means maybe 4’ more space and 2 club chairs that you can’t sit in because they are so old and sunken. We should have stuck with no upgrade. It would’ve been more pleasant. Other items that make this an incredibly poor value include the housekeeping cart being left in the hall 24 hours a day, a very average breakfast, a window that a child could fall out of, the suite having a “Courtyard“ review, which means it opens to the backside of other buildings and the Garbage area, bird netting on the doors and windows, housekeeping, never straightening the sheets says that you slept on wrinkles and folds of sheets under you, and roaches flying in the room.

We had a great stay at this hotel! The staff was very friendly, and celebrated us with acknowledging our honeymoon. We received a complimentary upgrade for the first time ever, and it was the only hotel during our honeymoon to do so. The room was very nice, the bathrooms are very small though, and there is minimal counter space, even in a suite. The shower didn’t have a door either, so water got everywhere. The location is 5 minute walk to everything you could need, and has many restaurants nearby. We highly recommend and had a great stay!

It rained continuously for the two days we stayed here. But its fall and Switzerland. We appreciated the central location for walking the town. Parking was tight at the back of the hotel through a cast iron gate. We reserved space in advance so that was convenient to leave the car while we explored the area. Room was on small side but modern and clean. Front desk were super accommodating. Breakfast was good served in the funky connected restaurant next door.

The location is the only good thing about the hotel. We were given an Attic room with limited space due to the poor furniture arrangement. My husband and I were hitting each other when we moved around. We have no space to open 2 baggage at the same time. The TV was not functioning (took them 2 days to got it repaired) and the lights were flickering and till the last day of our stay (we stayed for 4 nights), it was still not fixed. On the last day, we checked out early for a half day tour. I came back thirty and requested for a bottle of water before moving on to Zurich. I was told the hotel has no small bottles to spare and not enthusiastic to help hotel guests to solve the issues. The hotel receptionists were a bit too 'cool' towards the guests and always busy ! This hotel does not have a proper check in areas or proper concierge desk. It was crowded with people in s small hall all the time ! It was definitely not worth paying the rate for my stay !

Yelp
Can't beat the location, walking distance to Chapel Bridge and Old Town, the stop to the bus to take you to Pilatus is right outside and the train station is 10' away. Of course the price is expensive, small lobby and can be jammed when the tours come in. A decent buffet breakfast for 35 or if you have ambassador / elite status is pretty good
google avatar

Yelp
Great location. Close to the Chapel Bridge and old town area. Many food and drink options within a short walking distance. Staff was professional and courteous. Rooms, which are relatively modern, were clean and well maintained. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. Rooms were generally quiet, but we were staying in the fifth floor. I heard some comments about music noise from someone in our tour group staying on a lower floor. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Pros: Location was fantastic - walkable to everything and right on main bus line to Mt Pilatus route. Staff was very helpful and kind. Room and bathroom size was good (we were upgraded to larger room though). Cons: The king size bed was so hard and uncomfortable, we couldn't believe it. The bed was so stiff and had no give at all. Like sleeping on the floor. Also, not sure how clean it is because when we took shower, "I SEE YOU" written on bathroom mirror appeared. Very unsettling.

Yelp
Part of our extended cruise tour includes staying here in Lucerne for 2 nights, 20 minutes walk to the plaza, or Lake Lucerne area. The hotel feels cramp. There's ONE black leather chair, that was blocking our bedroom to the bathroom (if one of us sleeping by the window side of the room, would be hitting a knee to the corner of the bed or the chair, when using the toilet in the middle of the night). We moved it, so that won't happen, under the TV screen. If I want to sit in another chair, next to my husband, I have to use the office chair, or lay in bed. Speaking of bed, my sheet was folding not quite halfway, then tucked in, so I'm laying on top of my comforter, with part of the sheet over half of my body. The closet, safe, small fridge is a tiny walkway, you'll see in the photo, but there's a large window and another bench to put your luggage, if you like. There's also a light switch. The safe, is high enough for me to punch in my security code, open and close it, but if I want to see what I put inside, I have to grab a chair or my husband, because it's over 5' high, and deep enough I can't see inside it. I LOVE the shower head(s). When I got out, water was seeping outside of the door, to the living area, I have to use a towel to mop it dry. Don't you just hate shower door, that only covers half of the tub? My husband when he takes a shower, he loves staying in there longer, and it happened to him too. The 2 nights includes 2 free breakfast! They have a good selection of everything, but they only have two kinds of juice. The staff brings you coffee, tea or hot cocoa, if you want a refill, you need to ask again! The front desk gave us the wrong room#, to the fourth floor (which I would prefer), but the key won't work in the elevator nor our room. We have to go back downstairs, to pick up our new key, to the 2nd floor. On our check-out time, we were downstairs before our luggage got there! (We were required to leave them out, when we leave for breakfast). Other than that, it was a beautiful room, and decor, and the dining room staff were very good to us. We were provided with umbrellas, too!

Yelp
This place was hard to find while driving but it it a small property. I was lucky enough to find a vacant parking spot right outside the hotel. I had reserved an on-property parking spot at the hotel but the lot was full when I arrived. It turns out that the street parking was cheaper anyway but still had to purchase the parking pass for the street. The staff was friendly upon check-in and my lifetime Gold status was recognized. I was lucky that they upgraded my reservation for free and got a mini-suite that had very nice ceilings and a small balcony off the main street. This hotel is in a great location as it is in walking distance to the train station and piers for boat pick up from the lake. The room met my needs. The Wifi and the air conditioning was acceptable. Please be aware that American wall chargers won't work here and you will need a Swiss adapter for charging your electronic devices. There are a few USB ports offered. The breakfast was weak as there were few offerings but was reasonable at 30 CHF. Overall 4 stars.

Yelp
Small hotel but rooms and staff are excellent. Perfect location less than 5 min walk to train station. Thanks for the room upgrade (Bonvoy Lifetime Titanium). Free breakfast buffet was amazing. Front desk staff was helpful when needed. Will stay here again!!

Yelp
We stayed here for 2 nights. It was okay. Our check-in process was a struggle. The rooms weren't ready when they should have been so we were sent to the lounge. The lounge offered literally nothing. We could make Nespresso and buy from an insanely expensive vending machine, so we decided that was a waste and left in search of food and drink. We came back a while later and finally received our rooms. One room smelled so badly of cigarette smoke that a new room had to be issued. Our room smelled fine, but there was no climate control and we were absolutely freezing. The bed was ok as was the bathroom but I would definitely try other hotels in the area. We were in a great location that was very walkable to everything though.

Yelp
We spent a few days at this location and the entire experience was outstanding It was a very short walk from the train station and easy to find. We arrived in the early morning and the staff was very helpful securing our luggage while our room was prepared. It made for an easy walk to the old town and all the city had to offer. The breakfast area is located in the restaurant next to the property and the buffet was great. If you need a fresh omelet, they will wipe on up for you. Our room was upgraded and the sitting lounge was nice to relax after a long day walking. We were very pleased with this location and all it had to offer. We would select this location in the future if back in the city. Make sure you have a look at the images posted and their website. Enjoy!

Yelp
Nice place in the heart of Lucerne. Very friendly staff, extremely welcoming. Cute rooms with very new feel and modern amenities. A comfortable bed after a crazy long travel from LA to Zurich and then to Lucerne. Staff were great to upgrade us and have a honeymoon gift waiting too. Nice touch. They gave some good restaurant suggestions and were pleasant with directions too. Not too expensive and a very quick walk to the main Train Station. Huge win for us, a great first night in Switzerland and a gem for your stay in Lucerne.

Yelp
Our bartender at the Pacifico Restaurant in the hotel was fabulous. Amitiel Beniers makes a wonderful Dry Martini and he is kind polite and very attentive. Go and see him!

Yelp
If I come back to Luzern, I am staying here again! The location is perfect...3 minute walk from the train station on the newer side of the river. It is slightly loud, so if you want to open the window, be prepared for a lot of road noise. The hotel staff is so helpful and friendly. They really go out of their way to help you and make your visit to Luzern enjoyable. I felt like we were staying at a $500/night room, with how great the service was, especially combined with the beauty of the room and facilities. The room itself was gorgeous. It was huge and modern and cozy. The bathroom - - - incredible. The shower head had the option of the overhead/rainfall showerhead, with a ton of pressure!!! This was the nicest hotel we stayed at on our trip through Switzerland.

Yelp
Such a beautiful room, but it's too bad this hotel was lacking in just about everything else. The biggest negative is the nightclub adjoining the back side of the building. If you are unfortunate enough to have a room in the first floor, expect to hear loud club music blasting most of the night. The hotel's solution for this: "wear earplugs"...totally not kidding, they ACTUALLY said that. The "Mexican" restaurant on site (Pacifico) is not very good either. The service is terrible; not only is it slow, but the staff is rude. All in all, though I loved the room itself, I would not stay here again.

Yelp
Switzerland is very expensive and Lucerne is no exception. It is important to find a hotel that you can get the most value. I feel that this is one of them. Location - we take public transportation when we are in Europe so the location of the hotel is key. This one is a 5 min walk from the central train station and lots of bus stops. It is also very close to all the main attractions. Location gets 5 stars Room - We stayed in 507 which is not street facing and I have to say it is very quiet considering that I have a very critical ear when it comes to noise so when I say it is quiet, that would be extremely quiet for a normal person. The room passed my quiet test which is a HUGE deal. However, this room is right across the utility room so the noise begins after 8 am. If you plan to stay in your room later, this is not the right location because it gets loud and noisy with all the activity. We had the standard room so it is quite small for US standards but I felt that it had everything we needed. What impressed me the most is the bathroom. It was big for the size of the room. Great shower, strong water pressure and fabulous toiletries. I usually don't use hotel toiletries because they are the cheap stuff with lots of chemicals, not this one. The only reason why this hotel did not get 5 stars for me are the people in the front desk. The hotel was not busy when we checked in yet she was such a stickler to the 3 pm check in. Geez! Your guests have been flying for 16 hours, the least thing you can do is let them check in 2 hours before the designated time esp if the room is available. You ask for restaurant recommendations where locals go and they point you out to a super expensive mexican restaurant which I feel is partnered with the hotel. I was not impressed with the front desk at all. Its one of those hotels with beautiful smiles with lots of pleasantries but the substance is lacking. Substance meaning, going an extra mile to provide not just good but EXCELLENT service. I did not get that. What I truly enjoyed is the breakfast. If you want healthy, delcious breakfast then this place has it. I dont typically pay extra for breakfast if it is not included in the hotel rate but I am glad I did it here. We are super healthy eaters (no refined sugar, no processed meats, no white bread, etc etc). This hotel had lots of options for us. They smoke their salmon in house, they have pine nuts (these are expensive type of nuts), we really enjoyed this breakfast. What made it even more special was the service we got from the breakfast staff especially Catarina, who is the manager on duty. Her hospitality and grace is what you will find in luxury hotels like the Peninsula, Four Seasons, etc . She really went above and beyond to give excellent customer service. Overall, I would recommend this hotel and I will be back.

Yelp
Our first night in Europe and after a harrowing trip from Zurich we arrived, lugging suitcases through the street to this hotel to find inadequate air-conditioning! We were here in mid-July and the temperatures were in the 90s. I know most of the year it's probably comfortable but this day was sweltering and the AC, on full blast, felt like it wasn't even on. Opening the windows didn't help... miserable! I had one of the workers come to check the AC since it felt broken and he said it was working normally. He brought us a small oscillating fan which did little. At night we'd take a shower then lay on top of the bed with the tiny fan blowing as much as it could... I felt like I was camping in a tent! (btw- we are from Florida so are used to the heat) I really wish I'd know about this because we wouldn't have stayed here. Beware, when they say they have air-conditioning don't believe them. They have another idea of what air-conditioning is all together. Other than the AC issue the room was fine- we had a comfortable bed, nicely appointed bathroom and sitting area. Seriously hard to enjoy yourself though when you are sweating the entire time you're in the room. If you're looking at staying in the summer don't book here!

Yelp
I hate to rain on a five star parade, but if you're in any way accustomed to the Renaissance Hotels brand, you're in for a big disappointment here. That said, it's not a horrible place to snooze. What you're paying for here is location. You're two blocks from Kappelbrücke. Unfortunately for tourists in Lucerne, this might be one of the better options. I can't really complain about too many things hardcore, all I can say (about most everything) is "meh". The bed was stiff, scratchy and uncomfortable. The pillows were thin and insufficient. Towels were also a bit thin. The room was adequately sized. Climate control was odd, but luckily the windows opened. The coffee machine in the "club lounge" on the first floor made some God awful motor oil nastiness that reminded me of shit American hotel coffee, rather than the amazing stuff we'd been having in Switzerland so far. Then we had the breakfast, which we would not have paid 35 CHF for in this or any lifetime, but was apparently included in our rate, or had something to do with my Marriott status, or whatever. The breakfast was your typical European "American breakfast buffet", with sliced meats, cheeses, pastries, boiled eggs, etc. Not bad. But not great either. And the coffee maker in the breakfast restaurant had the same motor oil issue. Why do they call this an "American breakfast", anyway? Good luck finding this type of buffet at a hotel in the States, I haven't seen one yet. If you're headed to Lucerne and you've got Marriott points, blow 'em on this place, it's not shabby. Just don't set the bar too high.

Yelp
Great location near the train station and quick walk to Old Town earns my 3 stars. We were in a "deluxe" room which did have a couple chairs but the layout was just strange. A toilet closet with out even a full door...no privacy!! Then the other side was a vanity and very small shower...the wall was slanted and made it less useable space. The room was very stuffy, it was cooler outside than with the air on full blast and the window only opened from the top so zero air flow. The bed was big and plenty of towels and pillows.

Yelp
This is "the smallest Renaissance hotel" in the world and they are not kidding. Everything about the hotel is small; lobby, room, gym, etc. The hotel is nicely furnished but lacking some of the basic items in the room, such as bathrobe and iron. Very different from all the Marriott and Renaissance I have stayed in the past. There's an Autograph Collection hotel a block away that I need to explore.
google avatar

Mihir M.

Yelp
We had a lovely stay here & would stay again. This is a relatively small hotel in the Renaissance & Marriott chain without the extra 5 star hotel stuff that most of us rarely use. What you have is a conveniently located hotel that has an outstanding breakfast buffet - the best variety of food & vegetarian options during our Swiss trip, & great service. The room is clean & comfortable. The front desk guided us around the area. The restaurant staff were knowledgeable & helpful about vegetarian food.

Yelp
It is very important that I write this review as recognition is absolutely due! I have slept in a Marriott room now 1151 times. My customer service experince I received at this hotel tops all of my previous stays! Starting with the Intern at the front desk, Rachelle. I had a terrible journey from the UK to Swizwrland in addition to not feeling well. The moment I stepped into the hotel, my interactions with Rachelle made me feel "at home". She did her job perfectly! My room was JKJKjot ready but she got me situated in the lounge and when my room was ready, she had my bags moved to the room and then came a got me from the lounge. As I write this, it seems so trivial but in fact, it was so relevant to turn okkng my day around. The other staff member I need to mention is Katherina! She too is at the top of the list for making guest feel at home. She works in the restaurant and treats everyone so well! Her professional yet friendly personality was so refreshing! I wish all hotels had staff members like Rachelle and Katherina!

Yelp
We loved this hotel not only because of the excellent service that we received from the front desk, but also because of the room is nice, it is really small but the room itself has personality! And the location is really good. I recommend this hotel.

Yelp
Lovely quaint hotel near to everything you want to do in Luzern. I have stayed there twice on two business trips separated by three years. Consistently high quality service. Staff are friendly and knowledgable and eager to help make your stay a memorable one. Rooms are small (hey, it's Europe) but nicely appointed. Loved stepping out of the shower and realizing a small area of the mirror was heated to prevent fogging! Breakfast was included and was terrific. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Location is great. Take a train from anywhere in Switzerland, get off in Lucerne & walk 2 blocks and your there. The hotel is steps from old town, the lake and all the great spots you want to visit. Tours to outlying areas meet at the train station, and can even be booked at the tourist office there. Hotel staff speaks great English, are attentive & very helpful. Rooms are nice & comfortable. Great place to stay if you want to be in the middle of the action.
