How We Pulled It Off: A Thailand Wedding Rooted in Great Food and Meaningful Traditions

"The Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa was that unicorn property. “The Renaissance just ended up feeling like the perfect blend of great hotel, modern services, and really beautiful grounds,” he says. “It was quiet, private—and only a 20-minute drive to the airport.”"

We arrived late. there were two gentlemen who greeted us with warmth and affection. (Perhaps one of them is the manager since he wears different shirt from others.) They are handsome, polite and speak fluent English. What surprised me was that they could feel the difference from Mandarin , Japanese, and Shanghainese. (Our little daughter speaks Shanghainese and Japanese because her father worked at Tokyo.) That means staffs in this hotel are very smart. Also, everyone will say hello to you with smile and be ready to help you at any time. And during our stay, my daughter was bitten by the mosquito, and was hurt. They sent a pro nursing staff to our room to treat the wound. We felt very comfortable in this hotel and got great experiences. Besides, we would like to say sorry that because of our carelessness that we put the tips near the TV casually on 28th April , the staff who was on duty that day didn’t take her tips. But she still cleaned our room perfectly. Back to the hotel, the room is clean and big, everything we need can be found easily. There are two swimming pools. One for adults, which shares a fabulous view of the sea. The other one is for children. Our daughter enjoyed it so much. The hotel has free shuttle bus to the center and free bicycles. But we chose to eat at the hotel. They’ve got 3 restaurants and one coffee shop. Pizza,Pasta or local Thai food can all be tasted here. That’s enough for us. We’ll definitely choose this hotel again next time we come to Phuket and will definitely recommend to our friends.

We stayed at the Renaissance Phuket Resort and Spa for 2 weeks in April and it was by far the best holiday we have ever been on. The hotel and the grounds are beautiful, and we liked how it was a nice size where all the amenities of the hotel were close by. The staff are fabulous and were amazing with my two young children. The breakfast was amazing and definitely the best breakfast we have had at a hotel, we liked how it wasn’t repetitive as you can sometimes find with some hotels. The only thing I would say about breakfast time is that the staff would sometimes give the larger tables to guests of 2/3 people just because they wanted a larger table for the amount of food they were planning on getting, when we were a group of 6, so there were times when we went down for breakfast and there were no larger tables available but the staff always did their best to accommodate for us. We also had a few meals at The Sandbox, the staff there are lovely, again amazing with my children and there was nothing to complain about terms of the food. The hotel is a bit of distance from the main areas but this didn’t really bother us as with having our two younger children we spent a lot of days around the pool and didn’t mind the taxi journeys if we wanted to go somewhere. There is also Turtle Village which we spent a lot of our time there with having the free shuttle bus from the hotel. The only negative thing I have to say about Turtle Village which I feel isn’t the hotels fault but Marriotts fault and I have tried to contact them about this issue but still haven’t heard anything back, is the elephants that are there. There were many times as a group that we left Turtle Village feeling quite sad because of how them elephants are treated. They are clearly distressed because if they aren’t being made to do tricks or having guests sat on them they’re stood swaying in one place tied up. I even saw one of the owners of the elephants riding one through the roads of Turtle Village which I feel isn’t safe for not only the elephant but the guests as well. Surely it would be nicer for guests to see the elephants being treated properly and I was quite shocked that such a massive establishment like the Marriott are allowing animals to be treated in this way? But other than that we had an amazing stay and would definitely come back in the future.

Pretty disappointed with what the property offers and at the price it offers. The experience at best can be described as a cheap motel stay. ||For starters, it’s not made abundantly clear that there’s massive upgradation project ongoing that makes almost 2/3rd of the property inaccessible. You are relegated to a narrow strip of rooms that are connected via dingy corridor, with doors opening to a passage and another property across the wall. From the adjoining property, you can hear roosters croaking all day long.|| What’s worse, the little that is accessible is also sub-standard. The rooms are aching for upgradation. There are no door bells. ||We stayed at Meridien Khao Lak just before this and paid less than half of what we paid here (THB 9.4K Vs THB 19.7K). While the Meridien experience wasn’t the best, the Renaissance Phuket experience was much much worse, so much so that if I knew what was in store I would have either sought a massive discount (less than what I paid for Meridien Khao Lak) or booked myself at some other Mariott property in Phuket. ||The staff tried its best to keep us entertained but they couldn’t do much either thanks to inadequacies that were very visible. To be honest the staff deserves all the credit to keep guests entertained. They are happy and try to put up a brave face in these adverse times for this property.||Kids in our group were disappointed and a perfect holiday culminated in a disaster, thanks to Renaissance Phuket’s greedy management that wants to keep the resort running even when it’s not fit for guests.||STAY AWAY UNTIL ITS FULLY OPERATIONAL AFTER THE UPGRADE.

I recently stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Phuket and had an amazing experience. The best part of the stay was the incredible staff, especially Khun Pasin, who went above and beyond to make our visit special. We were delighted to receive a complimentary room upgrade, which offered stunning views. Watching the sunset and sunrise from our room was absolutely breathtaking. The staff at the hotel were exceptionally friendly and attentive. They made sure we were comfortable at all times and often served us refreshing fruits and drinks during the hot weather. Their hospitality truly made our stay memorable. I highly recommend the Renaissance Hotel in Phuket for a wonderful and relaxing vacation.

We stayed for 3 nights at Renaissance and had a rejuvenating time. The rooms were spotless and the atmosphere chill and inviting. This hotel is suitable for kids and elderly, as it is just a 20mins car ride from thr airport. We especially enjoyed the complimentary morning yoga sessions and Thai Boxing classes. Special mention to our trainer, Job, for making the classes informative and fun. Do note that the beach is not for swimming due to strong waves.

My sister and I had the best time ever at the Renaissance Resort. Everything (the staff, breakfast, dinner at Takieng, cleanliness and on and on) was amazing. I wish I could name all of the staff one by one. They were welcoming and friendly. They greeted and gladly helped us every time. JJ helped us schedule our activities. I appreciate that he checked with the drivers before we get in their cars. Thanks to all of them for doing a great job.
