On the Grid : Renaud's

"Renaud’s Almond Croissants are the truth! Come here in the morning to get one while they’re hot and fresh, but really they are the best at any time of day. Located in a more laid back part of town, in the Gelson’s shopping area, and right by Chaucer’s books. Grab a book and a croissant and you’ve got your afternoon made for you." - Amanda Proudfit

What can I say? I’m enjoying the best croissant ever on a sunny and warm mid morning in Santa Barbara. I decided to return for an extended visit as I lived here over a decade ago. And my first stop? Enjoying a beautiful croissant at Renaud’s. Although a touch more expensive than I’m used to in NY, it’s worth every penny to have the pastry, coffee and experience. What I also like is that it’s a quieter spot than the one on Loretta. I may just order a croissant to go…

I usually like Renaud’s but it is never same quality. There is 50% chance that the bakery will be stale. I love the eclair and the bomb but half of time I crave and try- they are really not fresh.. And I prefer the other State Street location- it is nicer to sit outside there!

Excellent breakfast options. The salmon toast was excellent. My matcha was perfect and pretty!

What a find in Santa Barbara! Great breakfast and lunch offerings. Outdoor or indoor dining options. YUM! Pretty much says it all.

Fantastic experience! The flavors are fresh and the coffees are so fine. With inside and patio dinning, the Brunch options are created for you! The bakery is full of rich pastries and desserts. This is a Must try!!

Renaud’s strives at making some excellent desserts. What I have tried from them has been delicious and has just the right amount of ingredients for the dessert to be light and not overly rich. The almond croissant is exquisite! The hazelnut dessert is also yummy. I definitely recommend this place for a tasty and desserts that will keep you wanting more and more.

Their raspberry tart was pretty good- I liked it best out of the decadent chocolate and the exotic one. Their ice tea was a little too sweet for me, and they do a small sale after 3:30 I believe for some of their pastries.

Croissants are pretty good. Their selection is meh, their quality is meh. Their lunch is meh. So it’s a journeyman mediocre place. Not bad. But not amazing.
