Rendezvous Heritage Hotel Auckland

This hotel is 100% the Tinder date that used photos from 2014 and a very flattering filter. Online it’s giving 4-star luxury. In person it’s giving “oh.” The room was dusty, outdated, and came with bonus cigarette burns in the carpet. A charming throwback no one asked for. There was a visible layer of dust on basically everything, which really helped sell the “hasn’t been updated in a while” aesthetic. For the price they’re charging, the room quality was honestly shocking. Now, the only reason this isn’t a 1-star review: Sandra and Tracey. Absolute legends. Warm, kind, helpful, and genuinely lovely. They carried this stay on their backs and deserve a raise. If you’re booking for the staff alone, you’ll be happy. The rooftop pool and gym were actually great and lived up to expectations, which made going back to the room feel unfortunate. Overall, it’s a hotel trying to sell luxury while delivering nostalgia. I wouldn’t recommend paying the premium price unless the rooms get a serious glow-up. Great personality, questionable reality. Just like that date

Look by any means this place is not super flash but I think it’s seriously good value. I stayed for 2 nights at $160 a night in the run up to Xmas. Great location, great price and a great big room with a super comfy bed. Also used the pool which was all ok. Remember to take your room towel as the day I was there none were provided. Lastly check in and staff were all good. Remember people it’s $160 NZD for a massive room in the middle of the city.

Excellent location; rooms very clean and noise level quiet. We asked if we could change rooms as the room I had booked was small. I went to the front desk and received amazing service. We were upgraded without a problem... The atmosphere in this hotel is very good. We were never short anything. Lots of walking and sightseeing. The pool and hot tub on the roof were very nice, clean refreshing. I would definitely recommend. Front desk is highly attentive and friendly. Thank you for making our stay enjoyable. Pros - location is walking distance to waterfront, Skycity and a few decent food courts and restaurants. Cons - the place was understaffed which adversely impacted service. One staff member even admitted they run things lean. Check in was long, rooms took ages to get serviced and car valet was a lottery in terms of service. We arrived after recommend Check in time and our room wasn't ready. Eventually they redeployed some resources to prepare our rooms so we could check in. The roof top pool is a nice area with some good views of the harbour. Unfortunately we couldn't enjoy it the first day as a large group of people were drinking heavily in the area, swearing, making racist comments and acting aggressively. Most of them weren't even guests, they had just made their way to the area. We had to leave the pool area due to safety concerns for ourselves and our children. This fear proved to be accurate as a fight broke out and hotel staff couldn't control it. The Police were called and around a dozen Police swarmed the hotel and arrested the two main offenders. The drama didn't stop there, the remaining guests from the group gathered in a side street outside the hotel and one started punching parked vehicles. Police arrested him too. Hotel staff had no security protocols as this could have been nipped in the bud had they intervened earlier. I asked on two different occasions if this was normal and if it would be safe to use the pool area...both times the staff member just looked at me and said we're looking into it. One admitted that they don't have security on duty until 9pm so are helpless until then if an aggressive incident occurs. Nobody really cared about the incident as if it was just another day at the rendezvous heritage.

The best thing about the hotel is the location. Just five minutes walk to Sky Tower and stop for airport bus.The staff were also really nice and helpful. The negatives: The room was spacious and very quiet but the view was terrible. It looked out onto inner courtyard with disused and untidy restaurant. The room was also very dark and depressing. I only stayed for one night but would have changed room if staying longer.

The hotel was not as advertised and if I had known what it was like, I would not have booked it. We booked a deluxe tower room, expecting a view of the harbour. But what we got was a dark, dingy room with a view of a busy street and bus interchange. It was all but deserted in the public spaces, restaurants and shops were all closed, there was no room service (hardly any service at all actually, reception rarely staffed, no-one to provide towels at the pool, no bar at the pool etc). Even the location was a disappointment, yes maybe a kilometer to the waterfront but up and down a steep hill, so difficult to walk easily into the main centre and no decent cafes for morning coffee breakfast etc. The only positive is the one staff member (Aeyon) who went out of her way to move us to a better room.

The hotel is located in a good central location, a few minutes walk from Sky city (for bus to airport) and 10/15 minutes walk from the waterfront. The room I had was spacious and comfortable and checkin was very efficient. The hotel and room did feel a bit dated and could maybe do with a bit of a refresh. Overall it was fine for a one night stay

Very Confusing, to start with had no instruction of where to enter or that there was a parking bay for arrivals, ended up at a desk that was unmanned and left trying to use there phones to call someone in the hotel for about 20mins finally got someone and got parking sorted ect.Very long walk from reception too our "exclusive apartment" and to start it smelt like curry, felt everything was fairly clean apart from the bathroom but was acceptable. Rooms are extremely outdated and was definitely catfished by the photos showing this as a lux room but its definitely not (was quite a shame as this was the partners birthday getaway) over all an okay stay just very underwhelming on quality and luxury and for the price i paid i definitely wouldnt recommend. only thing going for it is location. Short walk to viaduct and sky city
