The hotel was not as advertised and if I had known what it was like, I would not have booked it. We booked a deluxe tower room, expecting a view of the harbour. But what we got was a dark, dingy room with a view of a busy street and bus interchange. It was all but deserted in the public spaces, restaurants and shops were all closed, there was no room service (hardly any service at all actually, reception rarely staffed, no-one to provide towels at the pool, no bar at the pool etc). Even the location was a disappointment, yes maybe a kilometer to the waterfront but up and down a steep hill, so difficult to walk easily into the main centre and no decent cafes for morning coffee breakfast etc. The only positive is the one staff member (Aeyon) who went out of her way to move us to a better room.

Mixed feelings having stayed 3 nights here in October. The heritage building is interesting but much of the furnishing and style is very outdated. Basic room but all the old style fittings did work. Helpful front desk staff at check in and out + leaving luggage when away for 2 days. Best thing is the location, down-town and very handy for shops, restaurants and bus station.

When we arrive tonight at the hotel we had excellent service from a very lovely girl behind the front counter called Ayeon. When she noticed that I had arrived with my two kids she very politely and discreetly asked me if it would be okay if she were to offer them a lollipop. I said certainly. It then turned out that she had personally paid for these lollipops not the company and I thought to myself what a beautiful kind hearted young girl to be providing such lovely service to people on arrival. Full marks! There’s a manager right there!

Hotel was in perfect location. Friendly and professional staff special mentioned to Luther the receptionist. The hotel was so spacious and very cleaned. However, The aircon was not that cold and we it's a bit warm during the night. They gave us a fan thou but still not enough. We will definitely going to stay at this hotel again but not in that room.😃 9/10.

We started our New Zealand trip at the Heritage. We were excited for what was going to be the trip of a lifetime. The Heritage was the biggest comedown we could have expected. We had a deluxe guest room, but it was anything but! The room was dark, depressing and dated. |The view from our window was over a deserted indoor courtyard, still set out with tables for a restaurant that no longer exists. There was barely any natural light, so we spent as little time there as possible. The lounge areas downstairs were only slightly more inviting.|There was no bar, no restaurant, no room service.|The furniture didn't fit the room, was dark wood and appeared old. It increased the dark feeling in the room. The bathroom did indeed have a shower over the bath but the bathroom was badly in need of a makeover.|We were there 2 nights. Housekeeping finally knocked to service our room at 5.20pm after we had phoned reception to see why they hadn't been. Apparently they were short staffed and they did not seem to think 5.20pm was a bad time to refresh our room!|The whole place could do with a makeover and modernisation. It may be called the Heritage, suggesting quaint and historic, but that is not the reality.|The only saving grace was that it was a short walk to civilisation and allowed us to explore the city. When we arrived we were tired and jetlagged. Had we been more awake we would certainly have challenged the choice of room - some daylight might have improved our perspective!

Love staying here. Ive converted from Grand Hotel sky city in which ive been there for 25 plus years. You get more bang for your buck and more room space. However the spa pool and sauna both need to be Temp tested as they both run warm and not hot which is the only let down. Also Swimming Towels Near Pool areas I a must as receptiom often gets too buzi. But defs reccomend.

This hotel needs some maintenance. The rooms aircon did not work, the fridge was not cold, the seat in the sauna was broken and the rooftop pool tiles were wobbly in places. The reception claims 24hrs, but was rarely manned. The bed was comfy though and the view from the rooftop pool was lovely. Note pool towels are available at reception....if someone is there.

Plus side was the rooftop pool, beds were comfy. Negatives were this place is seriously outdated, dark, corridors smelled, the only friendly welcoming face and voice was the housekeeper, other staff weren’t welcoming, wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you just want a comfy bed, and a pool.
