A Charming Airport with an 80s Flair This small international airport has a unique and authentic charm that takes you back to the 1980s. While it may not be the most modern facility, it offers a pleasant and hassle-free travel experience. The staff is exceptionally friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive. One of the biggest advantages is the efficiency—there are no long waiting times, making check-in, security, and baggage claim quick and smooth. The airport provides a decent selection of amenities, including a few fast-food restaurants, bars, and sit-down restaurants, as well as a lounge for those who want to relax before their flight. There are also some shopping options to browse. Transportation is well-organized, with good public transport connections and convenient shuttle buses to nearby hotels. Overall, this airport may not be the most high-tech, but its nostalgic charm, friendly service, and efficiency make it a great place to travel through.

BEST LITTLE AIRPORT in BIGGEST LITTLE CITY - By far the best arrival and departure airport for the west coast. Smaller and efficient and the air actually moves making it fresh and safer from airborne viruses. Too many large west coast airports are sealed with no air flow, a hassle and too bustling. Drive in and out w a rental car is so easy and you don’t need to deal w the unpredictable Bay Area traffic. It is also a very clean and artful airport that has interesting things posted and placed throughout the airport.

A smaller airport that is easy to get in and out of. Located close to downtown and plenty of airport shuttles available. Rental car center is on site. The terminals get a little crowded. Plenty of gaming machines along with a decent variety of food option. The airport was clean with plenty of seating.

Small but mighty! Reno-Tahoe Airport is compact, which makes it super convenient for pick-up and drop-off. The car rental area is just a short walk from the terminal — step outside and you’re practically there. It’s also located close to a Costco gas station, which is perfect if you need to refill before returning your rental. One surprising perk: they do have a lounge available for credit card holders — a nice bonus you might not expect from a smaller airport. That said, there are a few downsides. The regular security line can be slow, with wait times ranging from 20 to 30 minutes during peak hours. Unfortunately, there’s no CLEAR service here yet, which would’ve been a nice addition to speed things up. Overall, it’s a solid regional airport with some great conveniences, but be prepared for a bit of a wait if you’re not TSA PreCheck

Google
I liked this airport because it was just the right size. Security, gate staff, and rental car facility staff were just as friendly as I wanted and were quick with anything. I was in shock that no one was in security and it only took 2 minutes to get from the rental car facility to your gate. All in all, everything was so close and convenient. They also got good restaurants to choose from too before and after security. Overall, Reno-Tahoe Airport for traveling is the way to go!

Google
Lines moved fast at 5am on a Wednesday. TSA was friendly despite confiscating my unopened water bottle. Boarding on American Airlines went by fast and smoothly.

Google
Older airport, but nice and clean. Grab a bite to eat, or gamble while you wait for your flight. Some grab and go stores, along with some fast food options. Restrooms are clean.

Google
Average nice well organized airport. It has several shops both air and land side, with multiple bathrooms and a lot of slot machines. There are several art pieces all across the airport. The Wi-Fi is stable and fast.

Yelp
Small town airport that has grown with the years. Parking is easy for drop offs and pick ups. Rental car return can be confusing. Security can get very backed up...since there are 12 flights that leave within the first hours of the opening of the airport the mornings are the worst. A few local restaurants have small kiosks set up. They tend to be slower than the chain restaurants in the terminal. Support them!!! A fee last minute pulls can happen at the slot machines in the lobby and at the gates... Depending o. Your final destination expect a plane change almost anywhere leaving or coming from this smaller airport. Beautiful views of the sierras once in the air!!!

Yelp
I was so excited to take my dad to the airport to spend more hours together. So I hopped out of the car and joined my father to help him check in for his flight. He was flying American Airlines #AA. So we decided to check in, in self-service. Unfortunately, flight 868 didn't register, so we tried it again with the same outcome. Then we let the two ladies working at 3:45 am on Wednesday, March 11, know that the self-service machine wasn't recognizing the flight number. Then, one flight assistant responded rudely with, "Then you must get in line," how she said it made us feel stupid, along with her dirty look. Before informing her of our situation, I noticed that she was having trouble rebooting her computers. The other flight assistant was on the floor with a bundle of flight tickets with the computer's cover exposed. I understand that issues can occur, which could impact your day, but there's never any reason to try to make someone feel stupid and rude at the same time when all we wanted was assistance getting on my father's boarding pass to get him on his way. Maybe the flight assistant should consider getting a different job that suits their needs. It's too much for someone to ask them for help, and their title of "flight assistant" is too much for them.

Yelp
Easy airport to get in and out of. I had a flight that began boarding at 7:55am. I got to the airport at 7:45am with precheck and still made it to my gate before it officially started boarding, so any airport where that's the case is a winner in my book. They have slot machines like many airports in Nevada. I didn't see any lounge options and I didn't try any of their food choices, but overall it was easy fly in/out of and the Uber/Lyfts are easy to catch as well (about a 5-10min walk from the gate to the Uber/Lyft lot). Rental cars are plentiful as well.

Yelp
I love this airport because it's very small. I've always had stress-free flights, it's easy to navigate, very simple to get a car, etc.
google avatar

Mr Q.

Yelp
First time through this airport. It's smaller, older airport. Security checkpoint was a breeze via Pre Check lane.
google avatar

Nina C.

Yelp
I judge airports on how easily I can navigate through and I found this one to be fairly straightforward. The decor reminded me of an old school Fremont street casino with the carpet lol! There's slot machines everywhere!
google avatar

Yelp
This may have been my first flight out of Reno-Tahoe International Airport, I can't even remember! Leaving here was my 2nd time utilizing my TSA Precheck "super power," and it was a breeze! I flew out on a late Monday afternoon, and the entire TSA checkpoint was pretty empty. I don't have any complaints so far. I also didn't set off the body scanner like I normally do, lol. It was a smooth experience. The airport does have slot machines scattered throughout, so if you have an itch to kill time and some money to burn, have at it! I did notice the ceilings here are kind of low, which makes it feel stuffy. If you've been to the bigger airports like Chicago-O'Hare and Phoenix Sky Harbor, this is a tiny baby airport. I liked the friendliness of the TSA agents and that you don't have to walk a marathon to get to your gate. I'd definitely fly to/from here again!

Yelp
This is the "Biggest Little Airport in the world!" Local, national, international flights are available.

Yelp
EASY BREEZY AIRPORT Compared to LAX, flying in and out of RNO for Tahoe getaways is fairly easy. Sure, there's some construction, but the airport is small and manageable. My sister can easily drop me off and pick me at the curb without being hassled. You know you're in Reno as soon as you see the slot machines. This place is busy, but the security lines tend to move quickly. Wing it!
google avatar

Tina P.

Yelp
Just picking up someone from the airport. And I love the fact that we can use the waiting line to wait for them instead of circling. The airport has a fresh new look and has easy access, For departures and arrivals. One of best airports in the country because it's an international airport yet not humongous Where you have to walk into different terminals, etc. but we can go where we want to go quite easily to larger airports.
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Landing at Reno-Tahoe via commercial airline is a breeze, but if you plan to walk from the airport, be prepared for frustration. I tried walking from Atlantis to the airport, since they're fairly close together. Sidewalks haven't been provided in all entry/egress areas, so you will need to backtrack against the most direct pedestrian paths. Also, be prepared for little walkway signage, and to hop over several chain rails along the perimeter. It's truly a shame that an "international" airport in an urban area hasn't managed to control pedestrian traffic effectively. This is yet another symptom of capitalism at its worst, and municipal/private sector planning doing less than the bare minimum. If Reno wants to position itself as an "international" city that welcomes tourism, it needs to get pedestrian traffic to/from its airport right! It's the least you can do, Reno! You're already a less than desirable city to visit for Americans.

Yelp
One of the smallest airports I regularly fly out of! Would be nice to have a few more diverse dining and coffee options. Love the cute lodge theme though and they have some wonderful art up in the airport! My 2 biggest complaints are that there seem to always be very disruptive construction going on that never seems to be finished (seriously, can't remember the last time it was NOT undergoing construction). AND the slowest TSA I've ever seen for the smallest amount of people. Larger airports push through soooo many people in a quick time but at this airport no one (staff or traveler) seem to be in a hurry and it drives me absolutely nuts. That's small town culture for you though I guess!
google avatar

Yelp
I've never reviewed the airport even though I travel frequently which is an oxymoron cause I HATE FLYING but traveling is life I'm just so scared to fly. I just returned from two weeks in Texas and end of the year is here so thought I'd finish up some reviews. I've been to many airports and Reno has a very easy airport to navigate. They are currently in construction phase so things are slightly more difficult for drop off and it's kinda not cute inside lol but that doesn't change the experience of the airport itself. Nothing terrible or exciting to really report. Basic and all needs met except I would like to see a better sandwich option than Subway because sandwiches are easy to travel with but airport food is notoriously mediocre. A couple gates are a little squished at the end of the terminals but it may be the airlines issue. This is my home airport so clearly I'll be back :)
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Such an easy airport to fly in and out of. Currently under construction. Still clean and easy to navigate. My only complaint is I wish there were more direct flights. Other than that one of my very favorite airports in the country.
google avatar

Cathy S.

Yelp
If it weren't for the numerous detours once arriving at the departure terminals, my first flight out of Reno-Tahoe Intl would have been nearly perfect! Curb baggage check in was a breeze and the staff was welcoming and very cheerful with a bit of small talk. After walking what seemed like miles (not really), going through Pre Check and TSA was very easy. Appreciate that! Needing some refreshments, found just the spot for pre flight relaxation. Departure area was clean with adequate seating. Anxious to enjoy the experience after the construction is completed......for awhile!

Yelp
We love our biggest little city airport! If you grew up in big cities like Chicago or Denver (like me and my husband, respectively) or spent many years living near LAX, you would understand why. This airport is super easy to get in and out of pretty quickly, even with the current construction going on. And every time we take an Uber or taxi to or from the airport, the drivers all agree. Here, you usually don't have to spend too much time waiting in a security line, especially with TSA pre-check. And we have found all the employees helpful and cheerful- always a good thing when traveling. If you'd like, there are even some slot and poker machines to play on while you wait for your flight. And there are a few pretty good food options too (I'm grateful for Peet's Coffee when taking an early morning flight).
google avatar

Robbie R.

Yelp
I fly out of RNO for business sometimes or fly in from LAX on occasion. I've had to meet bosses flying in and the pick up layout is super easy to deal with. There's good pick up lanes, compared to other airports. Easy to spot your pick up when they call you on the cell as you wait in a nearby lot. Parking is easy, short and long term. This is a way easier airport to deal with than LAX or SFO for sure! Usually you really don't have a n actual choice of which airport you use, but at least if you fly into or out of RNO, the airport experience won't add to any other travel stresses you might have. Never rented a car here, so can't comment on that.

Yelp
I had a round trip flight with Southwest over the Thanksgiving holiday. This is my main airport I fly out of and for the most part I usually don't have any issues. Right now there's construction going on at the drop off/pick-up area and has been going on for many months now. However, with as many times I've flown, this construction hasn't negatively affected me. I give my airport 3 stars because the TSA security check in is very inconsistent and doesn't always go as smoothly as it can. This trip, they flagged my backpack and scanned it 3 different times and still couldn't find what they were looking for. Finally, they said it was my reusable straw that triggered them to flag my bag. Normally and almost every time I go thru Reno security, I get flagged for my snacks--never fails, every single time. This mishap caused 20 minutes of my time and of course thankful, I arrived early enough just in case something like this were to happen.
google avatar

Cassandra A.

Yelp
The new drop off lanes are finally open, inside check-in is refreshed and nice too. Reno is such an easy airport! They even have an AmEx escape lounge. When they finally finish the construction, which is really dragging on (over 2-years now) it'll be the perfect airport. Hopefully there will be more direct flights someday soon.

Yelp
Flew from Vegas to Reno and then back. The airport is busy but organize. Didn't have to wait much in the line. They seem to have figured out how to keep moving. The food is expensive, but that's a given. The drinks are even more expensive. Use the restroom while I was waiting for our flight And that was clean. Bad charging port everywhere I spent 30 minutes of my time in a massage chair. The flight arrived. We got on board very quickly. I actually have no complaints about this place at all.
google avatar

Anna S.

Yelp
Love the new remodel and will be even better when the new parking is done. TSA pre check is the best money ever spent....never a line.
google avatar

Nancy V.

Yelp
The airport was clean and inviting. One of the American Airlines check-in person was a little rude. I'm sorry I didn't get her name. The person who checked me in was very nice and helpful. When I got to TSA, there was a problem with my ticket. I had to go back to the check-in desk. Lance, the TSA Agent, was very friendly, helpful, and professional. The problem was solved quickly. The boarding attendant was friendly and attentive. The flight attendants were friendly and entertaining. The boarding went smoothly.
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
Super easy to navigate even from the parking area. The TSA Precheck line was super short! Yeah! The only downside is that often direct flight times are not fun for trips to major cities and back to the East coast. (Leaving at 6am-ish and returning after 10pm), but I can deal with that for the convenience with secret!
google avatar

Audrey L.

Yelp
The Reno airport was pretty easy to navigate. I loved that they had so many Peet's coffee! It was a little tricky to find the ride share pick up. Once I found the right direction I was supposed to go, it took awhile to finally make it to the area that your ride picks you up. For my flight going home, it was much easier to get to my gate. Overall, it had some decent restaurants and coffee shops.
google avatar

Ali L.

Yelp
Very fast security check. Too many loud gambling machines that talk to you and hum. It is a bit chilly in some parts of the airport. Love that they have waterbottle fill stations and liquid emptying stations before security. Did a good job managing the burning man crowds.
google avatar

Trina W.

Yelp
My only complaint is that there's never enough covered parking. The airport is under construction right now and for at least the rest of the year but it's not as chaotic as you'd think. For a smaller airport, you'll find all the amenities you'd find at a large hub. There's a pet area, a handful of restaurants, couple coffee shops and water fill stations. Save yourself from an offensively overpriced water bottle and be environmentally friendly by bringing your own empty bottle. You're welcome Something to note if you're like me and take a 5 am southwest flight. I'd still get here two hours early but know that they don't staff the check in area until 3:30 am. I'm sure that goes for the rest of the airlines too. I didn't see an employee anywhere before 3:30z They don't even turn the kiosks on until then but the line gets long pretty quickly. The security gates aren't going to open until about 3:45 -4 am which can be a little nerve wracking when you take off at 5 but don't worry. It moves fast and I haven't missed an early flight yet.
google avatar

Susan R.

Yelp
Reno airport has been freshly remodeled and seems more efficient. Sky cap for Southwest is right by automatic door entrance, and the service was quick and friendly .inside also updated and looks very modern. Check-in was very quick, though I noticed they now take your photo match ID. They also hand each person a tray for their personal belongings and are pulling some aside for an inspection! I'm not sure what warrants that.Afterwards, it's just a matter of waiting to board. Got home with no delay . Reno is a smaller airport than San Diego, so it's definitely more traveler friendly!
google avatar

Diane S.

Yelp
This airport is clean and fast. I think the airport is open 24 hours which is great for the winter. There's a McDonald's and a subway for a quick meal. There is also a mom pump station and the airport is not too big you can get fr tsa to gate in 15 mins with no hand carry bags. There's an Amex lounge and I like that the airport isn't super crowded. I've taken united every time but I know southwest is big here. People form sac fly from here sometimes because it's so near
google avatar

Cora M.

Yelp
main airport in the Reno Tahoe region. Check in with smooth, security was almost empty. The one attended at the United desk could have been more pleasant but she did help me with what I needed. I did have to be insistent. The waiting area for our United flight was neat clean and orderly. The only thing on the airport is the construction in front and the difficulty and maneuvering through that. otherwise everything was smooth.
google avatar

Victoria E.

Yelp
Nice airport clean, with helpful staff. You have to walk so far but lots of great art and shops on the way.
google avatar

Gretel Y.

Yelp
Great, little airport! This no-frills airport is very easy to navigate and got us in and through TSA in a very short time. Though it's a bit outdated, it's pretty clean. Food options are limited, so get your fix before. They do have big chains like McDonald's, Subway, and Peet's Coffee & Tea. Free WiFi available. Hotel shuttles line up outside ready to take you to the hotel. Pro tip: if you want to hotel/casino hop and don't want to drive or use a rideshare app, you can hop on and off shuttles from the airport!
google avatar

Stacy R.

Yelp
Usually always empty and very easy and quick but lately it's been unusually busy through the security line and they are still doing lots of construction which is quite an inconvenience. Hopefully they be done soon.
google avatar

Patrick A.

Yelp
Definitely one of the best airports to transit through, especially if you are up in this region of Nevada/California. Easy to get into and out of. Never feels like it is busy and overwhelming. Within striking distance of Lake Tahoe region and Northern Nevada. Happy Trails!
google avatar

Yelp
Quality/Quantity - Flew my daughter in for some skiing on Southwest! She said it was very smooth exiting the plane and following the directions to get out of the airport. It helps that I was waiting for her at the bottom of the arrival escalators, see picture. Approximately 13 eating or drinking options, see website. 3 animal relief and bark parks. Nursing and lactation PODS. Oakland airport has been my favorite of all the Bay Area airports, looking forward to Reno taking that title. :) Atmosphere - Good size airport. Not too big or small. Mostly everything was closed because she had a late 9pm arrival time today. Easy drop off and pick up. Cell phone waiting parking lot, very nearby, Plenty of short term and long term parking, with updates on their website on available parking spaces. $12-$26 per day. Ticketless parking option also, see website. Open 24 hours. Service - Self service today. Price - Depends on airline and class of service. Southwest for her, so inexpensive. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1966. 1942 - Reno army air base. 1966 - City of Reno, Reno-Stead Airport. 1994 - Expansion, additional 2600 acres. 2013 - New terminal. 2023 - Currently being remodeled.

Yelp
After arriving back in Reno today, I can only assume the Airport Authority and City of Reno plan to keep the airport a dysfunctional nightmare. Traffic was backed up 4 cars deep and it took 45 minutes to reach my ride home, as he attempted to maneuver to pick me up. The pickup lane was lined with PARKED CARS! No one was actively loading or unloading and not an airport security person to be seen. Passengers like myself were loading and unloading in the far lanes. A safety disaster looking for a place to happen. Word will get out that our airport is a shit show and folks will travel elsewhere for their entertainment and outdoor activities. I'm thoroughly disappointed my city has failed miserably to navigate the early stages of the airport redesign and unfortunately, I fear it will only get worse.
google avatar

Marisa C.

Yelp
Would not recommend the Reno airport, but I may be salty because we had to sleep in the airport with our delayed flight and rentals not staying open past 12. I guess I can't complain too much, since this airport is so close to Lake Tahoe. Lol I wish there were more comfortable places to camp out. We lucked out with a spot to lay down and sleep for a few hours while waiting for the rental to open. The airport itself is smaller which is cool and easy to navigate. Plus points for the escape lounge. I literally had an amazing sampler breakfast including creme brulee french toast, chilaquiles with chrizo, yogurt with fruit and granola. I wanted to go back for more but held myself back. Those Amex lounges put out a killer spread!

Yelp
6/29/2022 Tsa pre check paid off! Minus one star because security doesn't open the gates until 3:50 am.. All the customers didn't start a uniformed line, and when they saw the employees behind the glass, everyone scrambled together.. Kind of like eager Costco shoppers but more in a hurry.... It's all good.. only one guy in front of us going thru tsa pre check.. Hubby did have to take off his belt and phone clip and go through twice.. Maybe have a sign for that?... Other than that, got a good parking spot in long term @ $14 a day!
google avatar

Jared B.

Yelp
I always felt like the airport is just about my favorite! I would always give it five stars for what it is because it's quick and mostly efficient. Recently however, I did have a very bad experience. When going to the airport I was directed to the overflow parking it was not very clear as to where it was or even what it was called. I'm being a local had a general idea but it still took me 45 minutes to find the place. There are signs to lead you away from the main parking lot but they don't guide you to the overflow. With their overflow parking they were also doing construction which is to be expected at any airport, but they didn't appear to have the shuttles running to the overflow parking lot. The weather was cold and rainy outside I waited several minutes finally I was able to hop up on an employee shuttle along with a few other travelers. Thankfully the driver was nice and let us aboard. What was I supposed to do stand out in the rain for 10 minutes 20 minutes 30 minutes or more? In addition to this there's like no signage for the overflow or the purple parking as they call it. Not only could they have planned this better but I feel like potential liability. Somebody tries to walk to the overflow parking gets hit by a car, catches pneumonia etc that could be bad on the airport. Other than just one glaring issue I've always had trade service and ease of access at Reno Tahoe
google avatar

Yelp
Construction going on but the drop off was very organized, with signs directing us in the right direction. We were dropped off by UBER and it was super easy. Cant wait to see the construction finalized.

Michelle H.

Yelp
The lady TSA agent working in the TSA pre check office today was short with all the customers and obviously put out to be working. She needs customer service training.!
google avatar

Mark T.

Yelp
What's up with RNO? It's 5:00 pm on a Saturday and the bar and restaurant in the C terminal are closed. Well, at least i can get a $5 can of soda at the candy/magazine shop.
google avatar

James D.

Yelp
Today, we experienced the rudest SWA ticket agent & even ruder TSA personnel ever. Not sure what's causing their dispositions & attitudes, but it's not their customers fault they have to be at work at 5:00am. This, along with the airport construction causing every travler, regardless of departure, arrival or having to return a rental car, is required to use the same lane. Once inside, the congestion at the chek-in counter's approach & leaving to walk to the gates is cramped & beyond ridiculous. The entire experience leaves a bad impression for travelers.

Gabrielle B.

Yelp
Small airport, which is my favorite kind. I was worried I was going to miss my flight because of the long security line (and getting there at the last minute), but it moved so fast. I really like the gambling machines they have at the airport, it feels just like I'm in Vegas!
google avatar

Steve A.

Yelp
A small airport easy to get around. It often has free shuttles to the hotels. Reno-Tahoe is usually pretty quiet. Except for the sounds of slot machines. The food options are poor. It pretty much is simple to get through here because it's a small airport. Only one terminal and one way to go. The security check point can be long because there's only that one way. Food options are pretty bad here. They have basic fast food and everything closes early, so there may be nowhere to get something. Has lots of the slot machines. These have pretty bad odds. Also there's some interesting exhibits. It has some on the animals of the region like the bighorn sheep. The airport is pretty boring and it means delays are common because it takes longer for the airplanes to find gates there.
google avatar

Cindy R.

Yelp
One of the worst airports I've flown thru. Good options are slim. Small airport but massively inefficient when it comes to security procedures/lines and just plain slow. Unless you are forced to, I would fly thru another airport.
google avatar

Vivek B.

Yelp
Its a nice cute little airport. Not busy at all. Flying out from here there was no one in front of me for the security check... which is such a big thing for me coming from Chicago O'Hare which is one of the busiest airports in the US.

Andrei R.

Yelp
It's nice airport.... Doesn't have a ton of restaurants but enough to grab a drink at to kill time.... TSA are a joke here very arrogant and unprofessional.
google avatar

Eddie C.

Yelp
This makes airport #49 on my list of collections! Regional airports are the best to fly into! Everything in this airport was convenient and TSA was also a breeze. Flew in from ONT to SJC and RNO. Airport is spacious, bright and clean. Plenty of choices for eateries and places to hangout and sit. After exiting baggage claim with our golf bags, we had Grand Sierra limo van pick us up without a problem. Nice thing about it, once I landed, I put $5 bucks into the slots and won $20!

RNO is a nice medium size airport, having many of the major carriers fly into/from the major hubs (SLC, LAX, DFW, Denver) for Delta/United/American and Southwest flying to a bunch of other closer locations (like they typically do). It is the airport you would fly into to visit Lake Tahoe. There are a lot of things to like about this airport. There does seem to be an abundance of terminals, compared to the number of flights (i.e. overbuilt), which will give you plenty of space to spread out before your flight. There are a ton of seating with charging available, either through USB ports, outlets, or in one case: a magenetic charging pad (first time I've seen that at an airport...and it worked with a quick test). The rental car counters are within indoor walking distance so no need for shuttle. Once you enter, you have a choice of going left or right (either B or C terminals...not sure where the A terminals are). There is only one Security checkpoint for the terminals. Surprisingly, the TSA lines were pretty full on a Sunday morning, and using Pre-check definitely did save us some time. Maybe 2 hours early is too much, but wouldn't risk cutting it too close either.
