The World’s Best Places for Bird Watching

"Located at the southernmost tip of Europe, Andalucía is on important migratory routes. In Doñana National Park, find elusive birds like the Spanish imperial eagle. The Sierra Morena range and Laguna de Fuente de Piedra are home to colorful birds such as orioles, hoopoes, and greater flamingos."

Wonderful place to see birds, not just flamingo. Yes you need binoculars for some but lots of water birds close up. The smaller lake near car park had lots of flamingos but there were thousands in the larger one, some far away. Visitor centre shut so no access to toilets. Among the birds we saw were goldfinch, warblers, pied avocets, black winged stilt, yellow wagtails and a stork. Definitely worth the visit.

It was great to see flamingos in their natural habitat but the walks are poorly described ( there are no maps) the visitor centre seems to shut Monday and Tuesday but there were no opening hours displayed, and no information on the web site. The setting is a bit industrial as well.

Place is not well maintained. Nature around is beautiful, but access to good viewpoint is not organized by park management. You will need good birdwatching equipment to be able to see birds in a middle of the lake. There is a small lake just before parking area, where you will able to observe flamingos and other birds.

Beautiful reserve for bird watching, especially flamingos, with well maintained walking trails and several observatories from which to observe nature and the birds, in particular.

Very beautiful national park! The visitor centre has varying opening hours. When we arrived the visitor centre was closed, but we could still enter the grounds. We did not see any flamingos, because they were really far away due to the dryness of the lake.

Was fortunate ate to visit after an unusually rainy month, so the lake was full of water and wildlife.

Amazing place, so satisfied that we didn't skipped it. Flamingos can be seen on the early morning and from the afternoon. We got there early about 15 p.m. and didn't see any of them but glad we waited a few hours and got to see them from the viewpoint. Also seen: a gecko, many-many hares, frogs and turtles and other species of birds (pied avocets, hoopoes, ducks, storks)

Nice little walk but you're kept well away from actual lagoon. No sign of any flamingos in February. Did a longer walk following long distance path to other end where it was possible to access the shore. Great visitor centre although everything is in Spanish. Free parking and free entry.
