Residence Bassac

On a dusty country road in Southern Laos lies this wonderful little boutique hotel located in an old French colonial building. It’s situated in the extremely cozy village of Champasak. 35 km along the Mekong - south of Pakse. The resturant is WONDERFUL and the staff is always smiling and totally outstanding. The friendly chef pops out from the kitchen and gives a hand with the free bicycles. Averybody here is just awesome. We stayed for a week and our room was really nice. Two floors and a nice balcony. Good wifi, exellent breakfast, peace and quiet. We’ll be back! 🙏🏼🥰

We went here for lunch. I have had much better lunches in Laos for less than half of the prices here. We ordered beef tenderloin medium rare with glazed vegetables and a choice of fries as our side, which is stated to be included at the top of the page with the meat and fish . And yes, we were served medium rare steak but it was COLD! The fries were piping hot and we got no vegetables. When we asked for the vegetables they said it was swapped for fries???? So after some back and for the we got our veggies after the rest of the meal was finished already. Also they charge 3% credit card fee on top of already high prices which other luxury accommodations and restaurants in Laos do not charge. Overal very disappointing. Will not go again nor do I recommend this place for food. UPDATE: I find it very strange to say in the response that is your restaurant is not your hotel. It is in the same establishment, same personal, same owner. In all my life I never had such a strange reaction! But hey, if you also want a one star review per your request on your restaurant separately I am more than happy to do so! UPDATE 2: the full reply of the owner has been changed below since their first response. I also posted the review on their restaurant as per their request. Our frustration was not beyond the meal we had UNTIL the respond here on google when you said that it is not your hotel but your restaurant. I was more than happy to leave it at one review. You should take responsibility for its faults since it is the same establishment and the same people work there. And yes, I sincerely hope you learn from your mistakes. Update 3: after I updated the review the owner removed their response in full.

I went to eat some meals in there, the atmosphere is very nice and relaxing, the food is amazing, the staffs are very professional and polite and the price is quite reasonable as well. Highly recommended and would 100% visit again! ☺️💗

This is the best place to stay in Champasak. We only stayed here one night, and I wish we had more time to stay longer. The staff here are exceptional and so professional. We came in the low season and we were given a free upgrade to the larger suite. Location is very peaceful, overlooking the Mekong. Food was some of the best we have had in Laos. I will definitely come back and stay longer next time.
