I stayed at the Residence Inn Houthavens for 2 nights in October. This place is okay for a short stay -- my room had all the usual Residence inn amenities, such as a full kitchen, and the view of the harbor was serene and breakfast was fine.
Two points that took away from this experience (plus 1 minor annoyance): First, be warned that the hotel is a bit far from the city centre, and that other than their luxury taxi service, it can be difficult to request a car from Uber or Bolt. There is one bus line that serves Houthavens -- your only option in terms of public transit. It took me nearly an hour on the day I arrived to find a car that was willing to go to Houthavens from Amsterdam Centraal.
Second, Idk if it's a Dutch characteristic, but I personally felt that the customer service here was lacking. As a status holding Marriott member, I expect a lil something "extra" when I check into a Marriott hotel, esp if it's a paid stay, which this was. That something can be as small as a bar of chocolate or a bottle of spring water... Not only did I not receive anything at this Residence Inn, I got the distinct impression that I was inconveniencing whomever I was speaking to, whether that was to check in or to ask about amenities or whatever. I'm sorry, why is it difficult for you to do your flipping job without an attitude? I was not told about the gym and sauna (in the Moxy) available to Res Inn guests until after I'd checked out. If I'd known, I could've visited the gym at least once. And I received at least 1 email stating that I'd have to check in at the Moxy next door when this was inaccurate...
