My husband, seven-month-old son, puppy, and I had all had a very long flight from Phoenix with a layover, rented a car, and got to Residence Inn, Back Bay around 5 PM. We were truly looking forward to getting settled in after such a long trek. We pulled up in front of the hotel assuming there would be a valet person to retrieve our car. We waited a while and then finally one of us went in. The front desk told us that the valet person was out moving someone else's car and to just hang tight. Meanwhile, we started loading our stuff in. I checked in and was surprised by the very hefty pet fee. $150 for two nights to bring our puppy. What I didn't love about that, is that the fee offered no pet accommodations. There was absolutely no where to bring your dog, no pet relief area. Basically she told me I was on my own with that one. So the fee includes absolutely nothing. I thought that was pretty steep for nothing at all. There is a valet fee attached as well, which is something that is hard to avoid at any Boston hotel. For a Residence Inn, considering I'm the highest status there is with Marriott, I received an upgrade in that we were facing Fenway, somewhat but really we were facing a Marshall's. I do love Marshall's, but it wasn't the best view. We were only staying here for two nights, so we made it work. I did like that we were close to the elevator, but not too close. It was easier to move our stuff in and out. I also liked that we were in a corner because we had the baby and it tends to be quieter with a corner room. I did love the area and the proximity to so many stores, restaurants, and of course, Fenway. We got out and explore a little bit and it was nice. Overall, I wasn't too excited about this stay and probably won't return. They do serve hot breakfast in the morning, but there really wasn't much to it. We just got coffees and grabbed a banana each day. I will say that the staff was very nice and friendly. Upon check-out I wanted all the waters that I got from the gift store to be on my work card but it ended up on my personal card, that was a small miss step that I didn't really care to argue. I don't believe I took any photos while we were staying here, but Residence Inns at least have a small kitchenette and work area. I could've sworn my reservation said that it was a king bed, but we definitely had a queen bed. We made it work, but it seemed better when we were booking it online. They did have a rooftop social hour with a full bar which I thought was cool, I didn't get to experience that because I was working, but that's definitely a catch that I didn't want to forget to add.
