I stayed at this hotel last weekend and overall, it was a mixed experience. Upon checking in, the front desk girl was a bit snippy, which didn’t make for the warmest welcome. The room itself was a bit dated but it was clean, which is always a plus. Unfortunately, the couch in the room had a huge stain on it, which was a bit off-putting. That said, the shining star of this hotel is definitely its location. It’s centrally located with easy access to nearby attractions and dining, making it perfect for exploring the area. If you’re just looking for a place to rest while enjoying the local sights, it’s a solid choice.

For background: elite Marriott member who spends 100+ nights a year as a business and leisure traveler.||||The property and staff were all absolutely top notch. 5/5 recommend. The staff, location and property itself really makes this a nice place to stay. Super convenient location close to Acrisure stadium and bars and restaurants.||||First, I want to mention and thank a couple staff members by name. Assistant GM Margaret Rose Wood was absolutely exceptional. She deftly resolved an issue for us.||||We visited in January for a Steelers game. Checkin was a breeze, and staff was pleasant.||||The two bedroom suite was spacious and had a good view. Solid breakfast featuring the usual eggs, breakfast meats, bagels, etc.||||Parking was also a breeze. Lots of food, drink and the like in the immediate vicinity.||||We will see you again!

This was my first time in Pittsburgh and my first stay at this particular residence inn. I arrived on a Thursday around 3pm and was told my room would not be ready until 3:15ish. The lady was pretty nice about it so i ran some errands while in waited. The room was nice, but the furniture needed some help. The bed was comfortable but did slope inward in the middle. The couch which was also a sleeper sofa unfortunately leaned inward as well. The room was spacious and had a full kitchen. There were some utensils missing and the pots and pans were a bit run down but all worked regardless. The hotel was very convenient to downtown and the staff was very helpful.

The rooms are nice and its a short walk to downtown. However that is where everything ends. 1. Fitness room - most of the equipment is not working. 2 of the 3 thread mills not working. 1 of the 2 bicycle machines not working. 2 days in a row no water in the fitness room. Didnt fix anything on a 3 day stay despite complaints. You will see tons of people complaining in the reviews but no action 2. Room service - On the app, i checked the flag to say i need service everyday. It didnt happen, on calling it was mentioned every second day. Got missed on second day as well. 3. Its winter and no body lotion in the room. Apparently the property doesnt provide it. So i had to go to a store to buy one. Trying to nickel and dime. Do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere.

You can beat the location- we came for the Steelers and our hotel room has a view of the stadium AND the river AND PNC. This was heaven. ||The room itself needs new everything. It’s the kind of couch you wanna throw a towel on to sit on. ||Went to pool and it was like a polar plunge. There was no heat to the room- and it’s December.||There might be nicer hotels around this area, but with a view of the stadiums we are really happy.

Google
The positives: great location for PGH sporting events or North Shore activities, friendly front desk staff, spacious rooms, nice price The bads: the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on in my entire life. The mattress is so worn, you roll into the center of the bed, and it’s way too firm. Pillows are great though. I think the rooms and hotel are due for a much needed update. I’d be willing to pay more to be able to sleep.

I was absolutely horrified at the condition of the hotel and the guest rooms. The filth was unbelievable. After seeing the make up on the walls, mold in the showers, pubic hair, dust, dirt, cigarette burns on the toilet tank I went down to the front desk and asked for the manager. I was told that there was no manager on duty. I asked for another room explaining my room was gross. The front desk staff member never asked what was wrong with the room or to see the pictures I took. She gave me a new room which was just as outdated and gross. I pulled back the sheets in the new room only to find black stains on the bed sheets. I was so nervous about getting bed bugs I left. The entire hotel was in bad shape and in need of a deep scrub and upgrades. I cannot believe people actually sleep here..felt like a pay by the hour motel. I would AVOID this hotel…GROSS. If I could leave zero stars I would.

This was a perfect location to stay at for a baseball game. We were in town to see our team play the Pirates. The hotel is nice, well maintained and the service was good. Breakfast was good and proximity to the game is unmatched.

Yelp
GREAT LOCATION - FIVE STARS Fantastic location right across the street from PNC Park to catch a Pittsburgh Pirates game, the riverwalk, and dozens of restaurants. We enjoyed our stay in a huge suite with kitchen, work desk, 2-seat dining room table, couch, super comfy bed, great TV and WIFI, and a very spacious shower. Breakfast was great -cereal, waffle maker, bagels, breads and pastries, scrambled eggs, pork and turkey sausage patties, bananas, hard boiled eggs, and more. NOT SO GREAT THINGS - TWO STARS The door to our room was a mess. It was so tight against the jamb it didn't close, so you have to give it a hip check to get into the room and pull on it like you're in a a tug of war death match to close it. The container of conditioner that was previously affixed to the shower wall had fallen off and now sits on the edge of the tub. There was a very cool dry erase memo board by the front door. But it's of little use without a dry erase marker.

Yelp
Total disaster. Limited hot water. Dirty. Elevators out. Pool is obscenely gross. Avoid!

Yelp
Stayed a week. No room service. No towel. Ran out of toilet paper. Mold in shower curtains, floors stained and sofa broken.. terrible experience. I informed front desk but no actions taken

Yelp
We stayed at the Residence Inn on a Saturday night for a concert that was at Acrisure. It is conveniently located across from PNC park and a short walk away from Acrisure. The staff were great and very helpful. We had an issue with our toilet though. It kept running. When maintenance came to fix it we then had no water. Then they fixed it again and it was running. Oy! In the end it all got fixed. I would typically ask to move rooms but the hotel was sold out so that wasn't a possibility. Management was very nice about everything though. We also used the pool and ate the breakfast in the morning. All good!

Yelp
The location is fantastic and convenient, especially if you're a sports fan. There's lots of things to do and places to eat close by. I found the staff mostly pleasant, but young and inexperienced and not very professional for a large Marriott. I would suggest a few changes, such as how to speak clearly, how to dress professionally, and how to listen to guests' requests and acknowledge them. Breakfast daily for the 5 days we were there was exactly the same, no variations at all. The sofa in our 2B, 2Bath room was filthy. Our 3rd request for towels was finally answered. We didn't use housekeeping but found them somewhat unfriendly and, on occasion, loud in hallways and elevators. The hotel has potential to be very classy, but it was more like a motel experience.

Matthew T.

Yelp
Super dirty hotel, and guest rooms.. "white milky" stains all over sofa bed, carpet and table.. lamps broken, dirty kitchen, dried globs of food on counter surfaces.. Asst manager, did come to room and had us moved to a clean room, which took 2 attempts... hotel is not what you expect from a Marriott... outdated and not kept up. I was told they frankly don't care because they're located right next to the baseball stadium and Steelers football stadium , so they sale out regardless if rooms are filthy or not. Front desk attendant "Tee" so unprofessional and quite rude, every day! Asst manager Erica apologized and did find us a cleaner room. I have more photos but reached posting limit. For the price of rooms, it's a rip off.... The morning breakfast area crew was great and asst manager Erica did apologize and get us moved. To me, Marriott needs to demand franchise owners get this hotel up to Marriott standards!!

Yelp
My husband, myself, and our two dogs had a house fire in 1/27/22 and moved into another hotel on 2/3/22. Things did not work out at that hotel (Hilton brand), and we ended up with this hotel being the only thing keeping us from being homeless. The staff here are unbelievably friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. They've gone out of their way to make us and our fur babies feel welcome and as feel at home as much as possible. We have been bringing in some of our napkins, toilet paper, etc so haven't needed housekeeping much. The other day, someone with housekeeping was kind enough to knock on the door and ask if we needed anything. I was soooooo happy because we'd just run out of toilet paper The dogs were going nuts because there was a stranger on the other side of the door and he just smiled told me he didn't mind. This hotel is in an amazing location and the dogs love going for daily walks and seeing the city and all of their favorite staff members. Compared to the Homewood Suites - the rooms here are much more spacious and have a very functional set up, including a desk that has been a lifesaver for working out of the hotel room. The kitchen is very nice as well. If you're looking for a hotel in Pittsburgh, this is a great choice. It's in an amazing location, across the street from PNC Park and within walking distance (or T ride) to the casino, Heinz Field, Stage AE, and tons of bars and restaurants. You can also count on friendly staff and a large, clean room.

Linda M.

Yelp
We stayed a week. In spite of requesting the room be serviced 4 days, it never was. No clean towels. No toilet paper. The hotel is dirty. The room was dirty. Breakfast was very good, and the kitchen staff was excellent. Front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. I rate the stay as substandard.

Yelp
Great location to attend a Pirates game next door, but, check in was a nightmare. Took 1 1/2 hours on a Friday night to check in - 4pm, no exceptions!!!! A Pirates game was at 6. Traffic was crazy, there is no place to park waiting for check in (only a small cul de sac for 4 / 5 cars) Once checked in, you get a pass for the gated parking lot - hard to get by cars stacked up waiting to check in. Cars were backed up on the road on both sides, blocking Pirate traffic, unsafe. In closing, I've traveled a lot and it's never taken 1 1/2 hours to check into a hotel, crazy.

Cheryl L.

Yelp
My siblings and I stayed here this past weekend while in town for a concert at the casino that actually ended up being cancelled. Since we couldn't get refunded at such a late date we figured we'd go anyway and hang around in Pittsburgh. We went to a few bars on Saturday and had a great time. All the staff at this hotel were very nice, professional and helpful. The rooms are spacious and decorated nicely. The only complaint is the parking situation. Only allowing one car per room isn't really fair in my opinion. My sister and I shared a room but we live in different states so obviously couldn't drive together. One of us had to be stuck trying to find parking, even though we were guests of the hotel. My suggestion would be to allow two cars per booking for situations like this.

Nicole W.

Yelp
Outdated Dirty rooms Dirty linens Dirty mattress Hair everywhere After arriving late the hotel, I had to request clean sheets because the ones on the bed smelled lie body odor and were full of hair (likely pet haircut I was in a pet accessible room- and no I did not travel with a pet ) House keeping incapable of following instructions. Why provide a DND sign if you plan to come in anyway? Why are you coming in the room when you're not actually cleaning anything!? Staff is incapable of stepping outside of their role to provide guest with requested linens, when desired. I asked for a towel at 7 am and was told that the department wasn't in at the moment Unclear parking instructions. When you pull in, the lot is connected to the general lot parallel to the hotel, so when you see the sign that permits are required for parking...you hesitate to park. I had to call to confirm I was good to park, which the hotel number was not easy to find on their website_ 412- 321-2099...only to be placed on hold multiple times before I could even say hello. Directly across the street from Prates stadium, and a short walk to the Steelers stadium. If for one night....why not, but I will NOT be staying again.

Yelp
I've stayed at this hotel over the years and was very disappointed this time around. It is very dirty and run down. I question if this should be a 'Marriott' property. The bathroom had water damage and was dirty. We stayed there for 3 nights and the room was never cleaned. The hallways and elevators had dirt in them the whole time we were there.

Charley B.

Yelp
Long story short, this is a nice hotel in a super convenient part of town. The main reason I was visiting was to catch a couple of baseball games, but I also wanted to play tourist. Not only is the hotel literally right across the street from PNC Park, home of the Pirates (it's just down the street from Heinz Field too,) there are a number of bars and restaurants near by. The hotel is also close other local tourist traps, notably Mount Washington, but also downtown Pittsburgh and The Strip district. It even offers a complimentary shuttle ride within a short radius, which was awfully nice.* As for the hotel itself, my room was super clean, modern, spacious and then some. I had plenty of plug ins for my electronics, a tv with full cable close by and a super comfortable bed with a nice view. I was a happy camper. There was a pool and a small work out room available however I didn't use it. I highly recommend this venue, especially to those who are planning their visit around a sporting event. *This was a nice gesture and I was happy to use it on the way to visit Mount Washington however when I called for a return ride nobody showed up. I called the hotel back after waiting for about twenty minutes and was switched to a sister hotel, yet still no ride. I ended up Ubering back, which isn't the worst thing by any means, but I was a bit disappointed that nobody showed up and all I got was shrugs when I mentioned it.

Yelp
Booked a room for the weekend ($1000 for the stay) a month in advance. First impression walking into the Residence Inn, the parking lot, the lobby and the elevators reeked of marijuana. Got to our room on the tenth floor, which was a handicap room. We weren't told that it was a handicap room at check-in. Bathroom flooded due to the floors not being sloped correctly and it being a handicap bathroom with no tub. Additionally, one of the cabinet doors in the kitchenette was ripped off the hinges. Since we received a fast busy signal each time we tried calling the front desk, we stopped by the front desk to report the issues and ask for clean towels. When we got back to our room later, none of the issues were addressed. Our room was not cleaned during our stay. We would not recommend staying here unless you like wasting money on a dump.

AprilEd H.

Yelp
Wet near PNC park. Clean, quite and convenient. We checked in late and there was no problems. Parking lot is connected to property and was large. We have a very tall vehicle so this is a plus in the big cities. Rooms are older but decently clean. Would consider staying again. It could be very busy if not during covid and ball game was in full effect.

Craig M.

Yelp
I was very impressed with this Residence Inn moreso because they are conveniently located across the street from PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Parking: it's $27/day, but it is in a secure lot located behind the building. It's a really tight parking area so proceed with caution. Check-In. I was a few hours early, but the lady was nice enough to issue me my room key and explain all the features of the hotel and how to navitage it. You can tell she has done this quite a few times. I am thankful she let me check in early because I would not have known what to do or where to park. Room: The room is decent size and well layed out with the desk right when you walk in, the kitchen to your left, living area to the far right and the bed to the left. Bathroom is around the corner from the bedroom area. The TV is on the smaller side, but is on a swivel base allowing you to view it from all parts of the room except the bathroom. There is a small dining table to eat at and the cabinets are stocked with your usual kitchenette required plates, cups, mugs, silverware, and cooking utensils. The bed was comfy and the only issue I had was with the closet doors as they came off their tracks. I informed the front desk about it. The checkout process was smooth and I would definitely stay here again if I ever find myself up this way.

Daniel H.

Yelp
Comfortable, clean with an attentive staff. Negatives during my stay --- 1) Rooms need a good going over; sofa pillows had some minor staining as did the bedcovers. A large chunk of baseboard in Room 215 immediately right after entrance was missing. 2) Need blackout curtains on windows that look out onto a promenade that contains a spotlight! Hello!!!!! 3) Powdered eggs for breakfast were a real drag; tasteless and too dry. Obviously, this location does not have a working kitchen to prepare freshly scrambled eggs. Positives --- 1) Common areas in lobby comfortable and clean, allowing for laptop work when needed. 2) Pool and gym were nice size for the establishment; but don't expect the YMCA or Planet Fitness (not that I was expecting it). 3) Staff very attentive, courteous and responsive. Batteries in my TV remote were dying; I had a new remote within 5 minutes. [Special kudos to Margaret behind the desk for great customer service and attitude.] 4) Breakfast area staff awesome. They work their butts off; first time I tipped an employee in this area. Other than the powdered eggs, they offer free bananas, bagels, muffins, coffee, tea, juices, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, breakfast cereals, milks, cream, soy milk, waffles, and oatmeal. A wide variety of trimmings for these items is offered. They also give a last-call warning as breakfast time expires which is a nice touch, allowing you to grab a yogurt or banana or other item for your room for later. Would I return? Yes, definitely. Would I suggest? Yes, definitely. If you find something not to your liking, tell them. The attentive staff, I am convinced, will make it right.

Vivienne C.

Yelp
Good hotel for at a good price point! We were at Residence Inn when there wasn't a Pirates game so the prices were a lot lower than usual. I was very impressed with the service in the front desk as they had a driver who was willing to drive guests to wherever they want as long as it is within a 3 mile radius from the hotel. The rooms were also pretty nice. Very clean and big with good views of the city on higher floors. Appreciate how the bathroom was separate from the sink area. Also there was ample seating inside the hotel room with like 3 different kinds of desks and chairs? Complimentary breakfast was fairly standard. However, when we checked-in the first night, the place reeked of smoke including inside the elevators and the hallway leading up to our room. I'm not sure if this is a non-smoking hotel but it is something to consider if you do end up staying here. It was eliminated though in the second day. Overall, pretty good experience except for the cigarette smell.

Tiffany S.

Yelp
The only positive things to say about this hotel are the location and size of the rooms. Everything else was extremely disappointing for the money that was spent. We brought my 9 and 13 year old nieces down for their first concert and liked that it was near the stadium for safety reasons and convenience. We stayed in the 2 bedroom executive suite which was just shy of $1500 for 2 nights. When we first got to our room, one of the kids found a pair of men's shorts on the bedroom floor. That was the first indicator that the cleaning was either rushed or not done at all. The shower curtain had mold on it and the shower itself drained very slowly. By the time you finished your shower, you were standing in 3 inches of water. One of the lights in the kitchen didn't work. Dishes and side of garbage can were disgustingly dirty. The paper towel holder was also broken. The fridge made a loud humming noise the entire stay and the ice maker was not working. This hotel doesn't have ice machines so we had to go back downstairs with the ice box from the freezer so that a staff person could put ice into it from the kitchen. The fitness center was closed our entire stay and the pool was very small and damaged. On our receipt at checkout, it shows that parking was included in our room rates but we were still charged $54 extra for the 2 days of parking. So, even though we liked being close to PNC Park, the filthy room was not worth the convenience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless you don't mind staying somewhere dirty.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
I think if you manage your expectations, you will have an OK stay here. As others have stated, the location is great and right across from PNC Park. You can easily walk to several restaurants and the Stage AE concert venue. We had to switch rooms because the air conditioning was not working in our room (on a 95 degree day), but the front desk manager handled it efficiently. They did not offer us any "perks" for the inconvenience. Carpets in the elevator and hallways were in need of a vacuum, and the lobby is quite small. They do serve a hot breakfast from 7-10 AM, but I suggest avoiding 9:00 AM as the entire hotel seemed to be down there trying to find coffee (and a place to sit) at that time. Parking is $27 per day and in a secured parking lot.

Thomas H.

Yelp
Lady at the desk was rude. For 400$ for 1 night I'm so upset. Said rooms were full. Couldn't get into another room to wait. Asked a maid and they had half a floor open. So many red flags. Dirty room. Broken stuff all throughout the room. Pubic hair under sheet. Blood stains. Pillows were dirty. Surprised I didn't find bugs. Only reason it's getting two stars is because of how close it was to Heinz field. Never again.

Valerie L.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite hotel in Pittsburgh! I stay here a few times a month. Great location, directly across the street from PNC Park, walking distance to several good bars & restaurants, short drive to the casino, cultural district, & many other cool parts of Pittsburgh. The staff was friendly and provided great service from my 1st stay, & now they know me by face & name. The rooms are very nice, large suites, always immaculately clean. My favorite are the end units, the bedroom is actually separate from the living area, & ideal for multiple guests. Breakfast setup goes far beyond your standard continental breakfast, they have everything! I always miss Bacon Day, & detest sausage, today they offered to make me bacon! Parking on-site, & convenient smoker area with benches. This is my Pittsburgh home! Just added Internet TV!!

Wade A.

Yelp
This hotel was in PERFECT location Very clean Nice kitchen Huge room 27$ for parking per night (common for big cities) Kelly (drive for shuttle service) was AMAZING!!

Richard R.

Yelp
We we're in Pittsburgh for to explore a few local universities with our daughter and catch a Pirates game at PNC Park. In terms of the location-you can't go wrong if you're seeking to visit the ballpark or get to many downtown locations. The front door of the hotel is directly across from the main gate to PNC Park. The parking and hotel access is tight and without much room to maneuver. An additional fee of $27 a nite is added for parking. The front desk experience was average and what is typical. Our room was mediocre and average - but with a direct view of the ballpark it improved the overall stay. The hotel provides a van shuttle within a three mile radius of the hotel. They also offer a generous breakfast that exceeds a continental routine at many other chains. Overall the location drives the rating.

Charles F.

Yelp
A great location and convenient if you are staying for and extended period of time. Having laundry rooms on your floor is so convenient and helpful. I was reading a lot of reviews complaining about the parking. I had no problems with it and liked not having to use valet. I will definitely come back to this place.

Monyca W.

Yelp
This hotel was fabulous, really everything we could have wanted. The room was huge and although we were there for a short stay and really didn't need a kitchen, a dining table, a desk, and a living room area, it was nice to have the area to spread out a little. My boyfriend loved the large TV. The room was really spotless, and the kitchen seemed pretty well stocked with whatever you would need if you wanted to make a few meals (i.e. a strainer if you wanted to make pasta.) They also would grocery shop for you and stock your fridge if you leave a list, and charge it to your room! We didn't take advantage of this, but it seemed like a great perk - I love the idea of having a kitchen in your room, but who wants to grocery shop while you're on vacation? For "room service" they also deliver from a nearby restaurant. The location is directly across from PNC Park, the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball field, and from our room on the 7th floor you could see into the park - not to the field, but to the concourse and seating area at least. I'd be interested in seeing the view from the top floor. We were also within an easy walk from Heinz Field and the Warhol Museum. The hotel also offers a lot of amenities - an indoor pool, a small fitness room, a theater, a pool table, a lot of lounge space (as if your room isn't big enough) with televisions, and a really cool outdoor patio with a fire pit and a large grill if you want to host a little barbecue outside. The breakfast was great. They had 2 waffle makers, eggs, sausage, french toast, yogurt, cereals, bagels and bread/toast, cereal, muffins (chocolate chip! my favorite!) and wonderful fruit, yogurt, granola parfaits, 4 kinds of juice, coffee, tea, and milk. The morning we were there, it was a little crowded, for example I had to wait a minute or two for the toaster, and they were out of the muffins but quickly refilled them. Everything was delicious, especially those muffins and the yogurt parfait! The front desk staff was very nice. We had gotten a little lost on our way in, but they stayed on the phone with us and talked us right into their parking lot, and when we got in they made sure we knew about all of the amenities they offer. That required reciting a long list, but don't you hate when you're checking out of a hotel and thinking "Oh, I didn't even know they had a...."? Finally, I have to mention the shuttle service. They had a van that would take you around Pittsburgh. Although we had a car with us, we had driven 6 hours to get there, and had a 6 hour drive home to look forward to, so it was nice to let someone else do the driving and leave our car in the lot. Whenever we called, the driver was there to get us within a few minutes, he didn't mind taking us from place to place, and best of all he had some great tips on what to see. It was really nice to be chauffeured around, and dropped off valet style right in front of the places we wanted to see, especially with such friendly service. The price was a little more than I was expecting to spend in Pittsburgh, but after staying there I would say that it was worth it. (And, on the weekend at least, it is pretty tough to find a cheap room in this neighborhood.) This hotel was excellent, I would recommend it if you're staying in Pittsburgh and I will definitely seek out other Residence Inn locations on future trips - I only hope they can live up to the Pittsburgh location!

Edward C.

Yelp
This hotel was great. Awesome location! Step out the front door, cross the street and you're at the ball park. Great area if you want to run/walk along the river or grab a bite to eat. The hotel was always clean, the room was nice too. Some of the furnishings was a little worn, but so is mine at home. Overall is a great place to stay.

Ciara M.

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend came out to spend the night at the hotel and it was great. It had all of the amenities from a little kitchen to a little living room and a huge comfy bed. And the breakfast was wonderful. I have never been to a hotel breakfast with egg whites and just regular eggs and they had an amazing maple pastry. All over was a great stay.

Chris D.

Yelp
Elite members: we were give the best room on the 10th floor facing PNC Park. We felt like the most important guests in the building. We have never been to Pittsburgh for a weekend so this was a great experience for us. We love the location and will be back soon. Love the Residence Inn!

Eric D.

Yelp
I stay at a lot of Marriott properties and this location falls in line with the others I have stayed in. With that, I have decided to break this review down with a set of positives and negatives. Positives: * New (always a plus for a hotel...particularly when it is new construction) * Extremely close to the stadiums, especially PNC Park * Walking distance to numerous sports bars (see negatives) * Rooms are comfortable * Full channel line-up * Friendly staff * Decent breakfast buffet (there were blueberries, strawberries, and chocolate chips for the waffles) Negatives: * Pay to park (I know...it's the city) * Confusing lobby/ breakfast area layout. (I have stayed 110 nights in various Marriott properties last year and even I was confused as to where things were in this lobby!) * TV picture appeared "washed out" even after adjusting the settings * Walking distance to numerous sports bars (I know there are two stadiums near by but how many sports bars do we really need. Heck, some of these places even close by 10:30 PM on a Saturday due to a lack of patrons) Overall - I would not hesitate staying here again in the future, though I may drive over the bridge to get some different grub.

CJ A.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that I have stayed in a wide variety of hotels over my years and this one is by far the worst I have ever experienced from start to finish. We had a 8 hour drive to Pittsburgh to see a ball game. I had booked two one bedroom suites at the hotel so that the 5 of us would have plenty of sleeping room and we wouldn't be cramped. Also, we would get into town at check in time and we have a chance to shower and rest before the game. On our drive I tried to call the hotel three times to see if they could get our rooms near each other. The first time I was put on hold for 15 minutes and no one ever came back. The second time (half hour later) no one answered. And the third time (hour later) on an infinite hold again. Upon checking in we found that one room was ready and they would call me when the other was. We all put luggage in one room and decided to explore the city since we couldn't get in other room. At 5 o'clock I stopped at desk and met the single worse employee I have ever dealt with at a hotel. She looked up to see if room was ready and said "it's not ready". No sorry, no nothing. I asked when it would be ready since it was now an hour AFTER the check in that I paid for. She said "we are waiting on linens. We can't make the washers and dryers go any faster". Ugh. She said she would call when it was ready. At 6:30 (after all our party had to shower in one room and get ready for game) I called down and asked for a manager. The gentleman said he was a manager. I asked about our room and told him about our experience at 5pm. He apologized and said the room was ready. I told him we were now leaving and I would have to pick up the key after the game. I told him I would like some money off the room since it was now 2.5 hours after check in and we weren't able to really use the room for what we needed. The room costs was $449 a night (obviously rip u you on game nights) , mind you, so we aren't talking a $59 a night hotel. We picked up the keys after the game from the girl and she again had quite an edge about her. I haven't heard back from the manager yet but I will follow up about the price of the room and the delivery of services. The ratings on the hotel seem good so not sure what the breakdown was. The rooms were alright but the experience will still get one star because it was just poor. When I thought this experience couldn't get worse, I went to breakfast. It opened at 7am but the girl said they weren't ready at 7:15. I then asked if we could just make a waffle and she said go ahead but there is only one waffle maker because they broke the other one. The waffle experience is gross, dirty and I am not sure works properly. The syrup comes out of a contraption that she had to kind of tip to work, obviously broken. There was no coffee and she said they were brewing some now. The worst part was that my husband saw her opening the seal of the ketchup bottle with her teeth. I normally always stay at residence inn or Marriott but this may have scarred me. Here's a suggestion, maybe buy some extra sets of linens and don't handle the condiments with your teeth. Ugh.

Yelp
Every October we come here since the hotel opens (5 years ago!) And we will not come back ..... The hotel doesn't have anymore happy hour, service in room is really bad unless you ask for what you need everyday and still .... Waiting for sugar in my room after a full week there! Really not adapted to the customer. I'm not gonna describe the marks on carpet, the hairs in bathroom .... We still like the location and the amenities but there are so many hotels we can go ... And will do! Going down going down ....

Yelp
Horrible experience. Price gouging. Use caution with booking with Marriott, especially as a rewards member.

Yelp
I do not recommend this property. Please read the reason why. I wake up to a email from Bank of America saying unusual card activity. I see the charges from Lyft, Residence Inn, etc.. This hotel let someone check in, stay for x amount of nights, and leave using my credit card. Granted, I have never been to Pittsburgh before. I called to see if their staff can help me find out who used my card and racked up a huge bill. I'm a single guy, have no kids or anything and obviously it was fraudulent charge. First after being on hold for 15 minutes, Leah picked up. She said she couldn't help me because she was checking in guests. I offered to wait until she was finished, granted I am also in the hotel business in Texas, I know they can search for the last 4 digits of the card and help. She transferred me to Erica, who hung up and didn't even help me. I wouldn't have even left this review if it wasn't for Leah's terrible attitude in trying to help. What terrible service. This is not the standards for service which is a Residence Inn franchise worthy. Owners or property management company needs to take note.

Yelp
This place is brand new. How new? I had to make the listing for the hotel. So.... The good? It is new, and spotless. Really beautiful. The rooms are spacious, and you cannot beat the location if you are going to see the Pirates play. While parking is $18, it is cheaper than the stadium lot on the other side of the fence. The bad.... the complimentary breakfast buffet. The food itself was pretty good, if you could get some. One morning they ran out of everything. That's right, EVERYTHING. Including plates and cups. I had to go to the front desk and tell them that they needed more help, and one manager jumped in, but it was still a train wreck. I think they needed at least four more people helping out. Families were leaving to go somewhere else, even though they would have to pay. It was that bad. The REALLY bad?....Ashley at the front desk. Checking out she asked how our visit was, and I told her about the buffet scene the day before. Even though she wasn't there, and admitted it, she actually argued with me saying it wasn't as bad as I said. Way to go Ashley, take a bad situation and make it worse.

Yelp
Based on the size and quality of the hotel and rooms themselves, the hotel would have gotten an easy 4, maybe even 5 stars. Unfortunately the service received was less than perfect. Reservations for 3 side-by-side rooms were made 3 months in advance, and upon checking in we were told all 3 rooms were on different floors....oook. Then we were told that parking was an extra $18 per night, per car in their lot. This is not outrageous given the location, but this should be explained upfront, and not when you arrive. You could argue the cost is worth it to park in a secured and monitored lot, and I would have agreed with you - Until a homeless gang came through while we were at the baseball game and stole our coolers.* Because of said beer robbery, we were comped for one of the spots, but the damage was done and some of our Michelob Ultras were gone FOREVER.** _______________ * We know it was a homeless gang because we went to their under-the-bridge hangout and took our coolers back. ** I wasn't in charge of buying beer, but apparently even the homeless are watching their carbs these days.

Yelp
I stayed at the RI NS for one night after choosing this location over the RI Oakland. What a great choice! The RI North Shore charges the same as the RI Oakland, but the RI NS is a much better property. Stainless steel appliances, great mattress, and nice modern finishes are all standard in most rooms. The staff is also very pleasant. If you don't need to be close to Pitt campus and have the ability to drive, stay here! Next time I am in Pittsburgh, I will be staying at this property.

Yelp
I must say this is the best experience I've ever had with a residence inn! I traveled from Seattle to Philadelphia 2 years ago and stayed in a couple on the way and none compared to this! Thank you for the friendly service and probably the best breakfast I've had at a hotel. I will be staying here when I come back to check a Steelers game out!

Yelp
This is a review of the gym /fitness facility only. I'm a fairly hardcore exerciser so I hope this helps others who might be looking for more than the "they even had a fitness room!" review. It had 3 treadmills , 2 ellipticals, an adjustable weight bench, 5 to 50 lb Dumbbells, 2 medicine balls, 1 big ball and 3 ultra light kettle bells 5 to 15lbs?). There were also 3 old yoga mats. The good: 1. The floor space was actually decent with enough room to do push-ups, lunges, farmers walks, yoga etc. 2. The exercise machines looked fairly new and unbroken. Each had their own tv for those inclined to do hamster wheel workouts. 3. Towels were stacked on a table. 4. Rubber gym floor was nicer than typical funky bowling alley carpet often found in hotel gyms. 5. 24/7 access by room card for people like me who sleep poorly in hotels. 6. The Dumbbells and weight bench were decent quality. 7. The heavier med ball was beaten to crap, but hadn't broken yet. The bad: 1. It could really use a pull-up bar ($100) and a barbell set ($300) or a TRX $200) and some exercise bands ($50). That small investment would make this hotel gym about 10x better than any others on the north shore. 2. I brought my own Woss trainer (a US made, less expensive TRX replacement). But there's nowhere to hang it in the gym. For those interested in doing pull-ups, try scoping out the lower stairwells where you can hang your Trx from a rail like I did. Or if it is not freezing outside, it looks like you could use the rails down near the bridge by the football stadium or some of the trees on the riverfront possibly. 3. There's no water in the gym, just a stained floor spot where a cooler once sat. Even worse, there's no fountain by the bathrooms just outside the gym. Take a water bottle if you want a drink. 4. As usual, there's zero chance of fresh air. There are frosted glass windows but no way to open them. If you want a real gym, head to the Golds downtown on market street. It's a 20 minute walk, but worth the effort. I did that on a previous trip. My workout includes yoga, floor work and body weight exercises. The rooms in the hotel are huge and I was able to jam all the tables and chairs in the kitchen and other crannies to open up a 10x10 workout area in my room. As for the rest of the hotel, read the other reviews. I'm sure they cover it

Yelp
This was one of the cheaper nice options close to the ballpark, and I'm glad we went with it. Definitely the nicest Residence Inn I've been to. Forgot that their check in is at 4, but it wasn't a big hassle to leave just one bag at the front desk and park without checking in. Laughed when we realized that the entry of the hotel is directly across the street from the Lexus Club entrance to PNC, which we were lucky enough to make use of. I only stayed one night, but I can see how those staying long term would enjoy this location. Very spacious studio with nice partial kitchen. The gym looked nice too. Surprisingly quiet even though the building is right across from the ballpark and next to train tracks; I didn't even need earplugs. Room facing the park instead of the tracks was probably a factor in that. Has the ever-awesome Paul Mitchell bath products, free wifi, decent breakfast. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I've stayed at well over 100 Marriott properties and this is one of the best residence inn I've been to. The location is amazing for both sporting events (closest hotel I've ever seen to a baseball park- literally across the street) and exploring the city. New layout and designs replacing the more tired res inn setup you're used to. Books fast especially around sporting events - Steelers are rt next door at Heinz Field. Clean, friendly. Nice kitchen in each unit. Do have to warn you that the well-intentioned shuttle service is a bit of a mess. You have to book shuttles in advance, and several times we were not able to get on a shuttle despite signing up in advance, and once were taken to the wrong location. This is especially the case when there is a PNC Park event, so be prepared. The breakfast was also good, but not fully able to accommodate all guests, which is a bit mind-boggling. With 1/2 hour still left in the breakfast times, they had run out of milk (no cereal for the kids), no eggs, no fruit. It's not that hard to stock up when you have a full house.

Yelp
4.5 Stars. Although designed for longer stays, the Residence Inn is a great option, even if you're only spending one night on the North Shore. Each suite includes a full kitchen, living area and sleeping area with a bathroom. They also offer a complimentary breakfast buffet every morning. The staff was friendly and helpful from check-in to check-out and I liked the fact that you can't enter through the front entrance of the hotel without a room key card, a nice security feature. Plus, its prime location across from PNC Park and within waking distance to Stage AE, Heinz Field and the Carnegie Science Center is a huge advantage once you're settled in. If you want to venture downtown, don't worry. The rail station is just up the street too. With so many benefits, one would think the price per night would be outrageous, but I was shocked to find it a an extremely affordable value, comparatively speaking. You will pay $18 for parking and cannot leave your car in their private lot beyond check-out, but that is par for the course for most hotels around the area.

Yelp
Great hotel for the price. Right across from all of the stadiums. Helpful, attentive staff. Clean rooms with lots of space (we were in a suite). Not sure if all of the rooms were that big. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone coming in for the games. You really can't beat the proximity!

Yelp
My wife and I came in from a long drive from Scranton, looking to check in and relax before we splurged on dinner and a Pirates game. Staff helped us avoid having to find dinner by pointing out the complimentary meal being offered that evening, for which we partook, and were happy for both the savings and for the delicious food. When we got to our room, we were happy to find plenty of towels, coffee supplies, and bedsheets, items which we've learned to not take for granted elsewhere. Obviously, the fact that the Residence Inn is literally right across the street from PNC Park is a natural advantage. But staff didn't abuse this fact, as it was obvious that they were working their tails off at every moment. The pool room, swimming pool, and fitness center areas were well-stocked and well-maintained. We would of course return - our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

Yelp
A solid three star experience. Check-in was efficient, not overly friendly but the staff appeared quite busy. The room seemed clean and as expected. The parking was close and easy to manage. Where our experience fell short was with the amenities. The pool did not appear cleanly, was not stocked with towels, and the water itself had floating debris and no sign of the filter working while we were in the area. The continental breakfast was truly spartan, lacking typical items like scrambled eggs or orange juice, and served with styrofoam plates and low-quality utensils. The rooms do include a stovetop and cooking utensils, so if your intent is to cook mainly in your room and you do not desire use of the pool, this hotel would probably work fine for you. ---------------------- I wanted to update to reflect that we did receive a very nice email from the Assistant General Manager, who had seen our review. She apologized and let us know that this location had been undergoing an ownership and management transition during the time of our stay, and that our experience was not typical.

Yelp
Clean and comfortable rooms. An outstandingly helpful staff. Great location -- very easy access to the "T" and a hotel shuttle to take you to nearby areas. All this and very reasonable prices, too. Don't know what more you could expect, or ask, from a hotel.

E M.

Yelp
Great hotel but the city closes the roads in the area during every event. If your not here for the event it causes issues when you try to leave with your car. Staff is awesome. Clean and quiet hotel. This hotel is very convenient to both ball parks and night life.

Yelp
Nightmare from check in. We attended a wedding on Saturday at the Casino - wonderful wedding. I am a Marriott rewards member so I was able to check-in on-line. We arrive at the hotel to check in before the reception. Get our room on the 8th floor, carry all of our luggage up (in high heels and dress clothes) get to "our" room, key does NOT work after multiple tries. Then the people that are ALREADY in the room open the door....how embarrassing!!! They were kind enough to let us use their phone to call the front desk. Front desk demand that we trudge back downstairs with all our stuff and try again...never a "I'm so sorry, we will take care of this, nothing" get another room on the 9th floor. Go to check out the next day...look at my bill that was under the door, not my name, not my room number.....again wait in line at the desk and have to explain myself. I tell the clerk that maybe you charged us for the original room on the 8th floor? "Impossible" I'm told, so he "fixes" it. I show him my TWO pending credit card charges to RIBM North Pittsburgh of $206.26. Again, he looks at me like I have 2 heads and says "Pending - not charged we always do that" and again - no - hey we are so sorry for all this confusion, NOTHING. So away we go. I look at my credit card bill this morning - I was fully charged twice for the $206.26 for our ONE night stay. Now I'm going to have to spend my morning trying to fix ANOTHER one of THEIR mistakes. Seriously this is just awful, awful. Nightmare. Do yourself a favor, there are other hotels in that area. Wow.

Yelp
This is one of the best choices one can make for staying on the north shore, right next to PNC park but the price goes way up for games and events there, but its' a very nice spacious room and nicely modern decorated.. The staff was very friendly and had no problems there.. The only real problems that I had was the 21 dollars to park law (ridiculous) and the staff said it's the city charging that (not so sure i believe that though) and the house keepers had missed several nasty hairs all over the bathroom that i had to clean up myself something i shouldn't have to do paying 150 bucks for a room..right? thats the only reason it is getting a 4 star instead of 5.. but over all i would definitely stay here again
