My husband and I had a lovely stay at La Demeure in late 2017. Our room was quite lovely and quiet. We especially loved hanging out on the roof terrace for breakfast (plentiful & yummy) and evening relaxation. The views were fantastic, from the Renaissance monument to the sea. We also loved their home goods store and got some great gifts for family there. The staff was helpful and the manage spoke English... helpful when we needed to plan taxi rides and other travel. It also happens to be owned by a Black Senegalese woman which I greatly appreciated.

We stayed at La Demure for 3 nights, and found our room very comfortable and welcoming. The beds were very soft, and each morning a lovely smell wafted through the corridors. The staff at La Demure are incredibly kind, and went well out of their way to help us find dinner during the curfew. We always received a large smile upon coming back to the hotel, which was wonderful. Breakfast was delicious! A great place to stay, I would recommend in a heartbeat.

What a wonderful feeling to check in again at La Demeure in Dakar in the midst of an exhausting business trip! I adore the decor, the peace and quiet, the amazing and beautifully appointed rooftop terrace, the speedy internet connection in the rooms (not on the terrace unfortunately). What I most like about this maison is the perfect mix of feeling at home and getting great service and great looks. If you need something, someone will be there to help, and if you just want to BE, you will be able to just enjoy your peace and quiet. And, in a perfect location just minutes by cab to all big meeting facilities in the city, shops, restaurant.

We stayed here for a handful of nights and left feeling mixed. Overall, it’s fine but seems overpriced and quite overrated, at least on trip advisor. The rooms are very simple, the bathrooms extremely plain and lacking some basic amenities I would expect at this price point. The room was dark and the lamps by the bed and couch were broken. There was blood on the mosquito netting. It’s also worth noting that there are many stairs and no elevator. The breakfast was modest but fine, but during our visit the onsite restaurant was closed, meaning that if you arrived late and wanted a quick bite you either had to get back in a cab or order some pretty gross takeout. The pool is small and unappealing. The staff was generally friendly but only one person speaks English, and this was a challenge. We were also surprised that they never offered to help us hail cabs and instead literally sat watching. As a whole, we thought it was ok- the rooftop is pleasant and the hotel felt fairly quiet and safe, but otherwise we were disappointed and chose to stay elsewhere for our next visit.

Charming and inviting. The staff is great and very welcoming. They keep the premises extremely neat and clean. Breakfast on the roof top cafe is a great way to start the day! Fresh croissants and omelets make a filling breakfast before you explore Dakar. If you like boutique hotels you will appreciate La Demuere, but if you must have western standards of luxury, then look elsewhere. We enjoyed our stay!

I booked 5 rooms at La Demeure this past June. I took my young Cinnamongirls to Dakar. I knew culturally it would be different and needed the hotel to be as comfortable as possible. We received this at La Demeure and so much more. ||||The most important feature I want to point out is their attention to service. They did a phenomenal job making sure we were comfortable and all of our needs met. My girls were probably a bit demanding, but the staff was so accommodating and kind. They seemed to be available till the wee morning hours as I know that I called the night attendant a few times not knowing how to work my AC or needing an extra blanket—by the way, the AC works really well. ||||Another aspect I want to mention, the hotel pictures do not do it justice. The property is much nicer than what's captured on the website and travel sites. It’s filled with beautiful art, has lots of nice spaces you can sit and talk, and it’s in an area that is considered one of the premier areas to stay in Dakar. ||||I was reluctant to order breakfast for my group as I wanted to take in the nearby restaurants and eateries. By day 3 of our 10-day trip, we didn’t find a lot of great restaurants within walking distance. We then ordered breakfast daily, and this gave us peace of mind that we would have a good start with fresh eggs, croissants, and juice. I wished we'd done the same for dinner as many days we'd return late in the evening, hungry and not finding a decent restaurant. We finally ordered dinner. It was so delicious, and so worth it. I wish we’d pre-ordered more dinners and will definitely do so during future stays. ||||Finally, we weren’t nickeled and dimed. Everything was very reasonable. The billing was easy, clear and even though they didn’t take American Express, I didn’t mind because they didn’t have crazy resort fees or extra taxes that make you wonder what you’re paying for. The people worked so hard that we wanted to tip them a lot, and we did. Their staff deserved it. But one thing I want to slip in. There weren’t shower curtains. It was okay, but the water seemed to go all over the place. I used a few extra towels, but hey 'when in Rome, you do as the Romans.' If they didn’t mind the extra water that needed to be cleaned up neither did we. ||||La Demeure, you were the best. Thank you for making us feel so welcomed and comfortable and for giving us an experience we will never forget. Cinnamongirl Inc., Oakland CA

The hotel is decorated with great attention to detail and feels much nicer than a standard business hotel. However, there is minimal staff around esp. in the evening, and they provide help if you ask a question but nothing more than that. Breakfast on the roof terrace is great - be ready to do some stair climbing! Location is reasonably good - near quite a few bars and restaurants, but a bit far from Plateau area if you plan to go there. The facilities really need upgrading - wifi is weak, the hot water in the shower is unpredictable, our room wasn't particularly clean when we checked in. The room rate we got was just over USD 110 per night for two people, and that seems poor value for money for the level of service and facilities.

La Demeure is located in a nice area that is within walking distance to a number of good eateries. The property is safe, beautiful, comfortable and feels like home. The breakfasts are divine, the staff attentive and helpful. It is perfect!!!
