The worst experience I ever made in Portugal, maybe even word-wide in any hotel. The rooms are very basic and have numerous flaws and are very noisy (you can hear every step in the hallway and every little noise in the neighboring room), but considering the low price in the off-season, you can certainly put up with it somehow. However, the behavior of a female employee at the reception desk was so disrespectful that I couldn't believe where I had ended up. I have never experienced such behavior in Portugal, neither on the street nor in the hotel or restaurant industry. I have always found people to be very nice, hospitable, and helpful. This person was clearly not socialized in Portugal.
When I wanted to complain, the hotel manager was allegedly unavailable all day because he was off work, and she didn't even want to tell me her name. I checked out after one night, even though I had actually planned to stay at least for five nights.
